Dallas Cowboys Free Agency Targets Before 2024 NFL Week 1 Ft. Caleb Farley, Xavien Howard, Siaki Ika

[Music] coming up on today's show we're taking a look at the top free agent options left now this is as of our Thursday afternoon filming on our live show so some of these free agents could end up signing with different teams or to a practice squad I will also include some practice squad options just make note if you want to sign a practice squad player you got to make an active roster spot if you want to s a practice squad player o of the available free agents to your practice squad then you have to make that available practice squad spot so do keep that in mind and in my apologies if something gets changed in the like I don't know 15 hours before this video goes out on demand before we get into it name a free agent who you want to sign any position group let me know on the comments of today's show first up is running back because I think this is the biggest question mark I have on this roster right now the available free agents it's not good it's latavius Murray it's Kareem hunt it's Jerick McKinnon Matt breida real chance those guys are just cooked Niners didn't even retain breida after giving a chot I think Kem hunt was even worse than Dalvin cook and Ezekiel Elliott last year he was bad in Cleveland latavius Murray's a power back McKinnon offers some juice but he's getting up there in age and as you age the juice becomes not quite as good all right the practice squad options I am going to put Frank Gore Jr on here because I know how you guys are I do think you run into this is why he I'm just telling you why he went unclaimed he'd be the number three back at best for other teams he was like rb45 in Buffalo after all as great as he was in the preseason the lack of special teams value and the lack of juice doesn't appear to many teams uh frankly I think the role you would have for Frank good Gore would be semi- similar to that of dvin cook and Ezekiel Elliot and I don't know if the Cowboys want to go down that path so Michael Carter the Cardinals kind of third down scatback I kind of think deon's better um but he is a notable name Isaiah Spiller also a notable name uh because that's a Texas A&M kid he just might not be good um at this point some real red flags there for Spiller Evan Hall had a chance in Indie didn't look the greatest um kind of a weird tested better than he actually is athlete which which does happen Chris Rodriguez if you needed a power Runner I would have interest here this is the this is the Kentucky back who is on the Commander's practice squad right now but again I I I have power backs the the thing I am looking for is I am either finding it a clear upgrade over Zeke and Rico d as my early downback or I I need to find some athletic juice and turns out the guys with the athletic juice are not available unless you want to try to swing a trade for somebody so do you think the Cowboys need another running back why for yes n for no sound off for me at in the P at the pinc excuse me of today's show let's talk some wide receivers I need to mention garius Tony I don't want to go down this path I think that is is you know the BS outweighs the production pretty quickly there but that is a former first round pick with perceived talent I I don't think the juice is worth the squeeze though Michael Thomas I think he he might be done uh to go unsign this entire time and I I would actually argue that if you're an actual number one Diva Tendencies aren't necessarily a bad thing because it just means you're getting the ball and being productive um but when you're like a fourth or fifth receiver the ATT Tendencies really go in the wrong direction for you Hunter Renfro I actually am kind of surprised no one picked him up he really fell off the last two years in Las Vegas that good year he had might have just been a mirage two other guys I'll mention Russell Gage benis scronic who was a fun player for the Rams they used him as like a wide receiver fullback was kind of entertaining but I don't know if if Mike McCarthy is the right guy to to maximize him there practice to Squad I'll make note by the way some of these guys could also make sense in week three if somebody gets hurt like God forbid knock on wood kavante Turpin got hurt I'd probably call about Jaylen Dart because he could help me out on returns Justin Ross is a big name but I don't know if he's actually that great I think he was a bit overhyped by the dynasty fantasy Community uh Eric is ukama dolphins and Dwayne Eskridge both players I'm semi- intrigued by given some of their athletic ability Paris Campbell is a veteran same with people's Jones again are these guys better than Jaylen Tolbert I don't think so and at that point probably not all that interested there are plenty of notable Corners who are available xaven Howard is unsigned I'm a bit surprised by that one maybe there's some stuff going on behind the scenes with him that teams are turned off by there I think adory Jackson could be a really nice quarterback for for somebody maybe it's not even Dallas I am surprised he's unsigned former first- round pick I think also could sneakily offer some return value Patrick pet has ties to Mike Zimmer brief ties to Mike Zimmer offers you know kind of like older Israel Mamu at this point now again that's Peterson's decline that's why we can put him in the same conversation so not what he was at his absolute best uh Caleb Farley is unsigned got to check the Medicals out there he's been super banged up but former first round pick could be a nice rehab project for you so is CJ Henderson and Henderson you know Caleb Farley might might also be in be in this conversation those guys just might be busts for different reasons but in the end they might just not be good enough for the NFL some guys on the practice squad I if the Cowboys needed a safety I wonder if they're going to go after louisine because they love Tim coming out of Georgia if we believe their leaked draft board he was the one R it ahead of Tyler Smith when they took Tyler Smith by the way he's had a bunch of injuries in Minnesota by the way Nick NM offers nickel Corner ability uh couple veteran Deb Cadence Sterns now Philadelphia UG amadis and nickels safety hybrid uh for the saints that again could offer some veteran depth you got over or under 10 and a half wins this year for the I don't think want to be backups especially in bakari's case Andor have shown signs of decline was bad last year for KC do you know how rare it is for a team to win a Super Bowl and not be brought back at all as a starter on the offensive line that almost like never happens outside of retirement um so if you desperately need someone I'd probably call about DJ humph first but the roles might not align with what these guys currently are uh practice squad options it's not good um this is how it goes with offensive line play frankly you might have the best practice squad offense line in football and Josh Paul uh Lucas Nang Cameron Irving Leroy Watson the fourth it's our old buddy Cameron Irving by the way it's not it's not a great batch I think you're in mostly okay shape along the offensive line anyway chuma DOA technically speaking has not yet been put on IR the Cowboys will eventually do that once the uh once they pull CD lamb off of the commissioner's exemplarist there's no rush because he can practice in the meantime so there's no rush to do it uh but that's the adoga lamb pending movement that's going to happen at some point in the near future and when the Cowboys make might not be ready yet but that is a name to monitor as he gets more into shape Rashad Weaver had been uh waved by the Tennessee Titans uh TBD on where if he gets claimed SL where he goes after that he''s been kind of dis pointed as a fourth round pick though veteran Romeo aquara is he better than shony Goldston maybe but also maybe not at this point in his career what do you think is the biggest need left for the Cowboys one caveat positions only you can't be out there taking ownership that that's the right answer probably but positions on the roster only who is the biggest need left for the Cowboys or what is I should say couple DTS we were going to have Byron Young on this list but he got claimed off of waivers by The Eagles uh Jalil Johnson's got ties to Mike Zimmer offers you some some length and size a big boy on the interior a fatty only seaka EA he was bad in Cleveland um he he couldn't stay off the ground which is a huge noggo at defensive tackle big big concern there uh for eeka but he's a fatty I like those guys Lawrence guy getting some visits uh as well with the Ravens most notably offers run stopping up front and the Cowboys Lord knows they're always in the market for more run stopping up front defensive tackle some practice squatters I'm only putting Justin Rogers on here because if somebody got hurt along your defensive line wouldn't you try to bring him back to Dallas now the players got power in that decision too but in the events of injury up front that might be one of your first calls if that relationship has not been burnt Jawan Briggs over in Cleveland uh the seventh round pick as well out of Cincinnati a different body type than than Rogers two very different styles there our old buddy Carlos Watkins borderline Cowboys Legend he probably is actually um the commanders meanwhile I picked him up one of Dan Quinn's old projects gets to go back with him you know and then because of how how you guys operate Gabe Hall I don't think he's nearly as good uh as uh I'd hoped he was going to be um at Baylor but as a a unique body type I think there is is some value to having that [Music] oh [Music]
