I think that stuff is very overrated uh I I listen I understand CD lamb I don't think he's signed the last 24 hours and been bouncing around Lola marmount I don't know but I mean I don't think CD lamb is going to be he's going to be there in week one I don't have any problem with Parsons obviously Prescott you know it sounds like he he and the Cowboys at least are quietly negotiating down the road I I think Dallas is going to be okay now do I love Dallas's team well they lost last year in a Wild Card round so I can't necessarily love him but Dallas is a playoff let's be honest and Stevie even he knows it Dallas is a playoff team I mean they got a I mean they they this is I'm not worried about the running back situation all right they lost a couple of running backs they lost the kid who went to Tennessee well they brought Elliot back who's probably shot they live Steve this is a pretty decent team I mean are they a great team no but this is a pretty decent team they were there you know somewhere between 10 and 12 games and they' be in the postseason again I wouldn't make him the favorite but this is a playf you know and I know Bart knows the Cowboys are a playoff team in 2024 oh it's on me yeah oh absolutely listen listen I applaud Jerry Jones and I've been one of the most critical people of the Dallas Cowboys and how cushy and how soft it is around there and I think Jerry Jones is applying pressure now listen we all understand the CD lamb deal is going to get done soon as Justin Jefferson was done we knew what the numbers were and where he kind of sits maybe below Justin Jefferson Maybe slightly above AJ brown but I think that deal gets done and that deal is about language and length of contract and and and skill deprivation and options and all that stuff no trade clause it's about that but you know you talking about a team in my opinion that's still one of the most talented teams in football I mean they have what you need they have two of the best you know if you add CD lamb and Brandon Cook's a great number two Ferguson's a good um uh tight end and what what's about to happen is when these Cuts come and people start shrinking their rosters down I think they'll be able to address the running back position because it's going to be a good running back that gets cut from somebody from somebody's team and you look at on the other side they got two of the best pass rushers in the game but the key is when they made the the trade for Carl Lawson and people like oh Carl Lawson he was a disappointment with the Jets what that allows them to be able to do Zimmer to be able to do is use Michael Parsons as a piece because if you want to play bully ball and try and beat up on us and run the ball like Green Bay did and we just move Michael Parsons back to his natural position the position that he's played his entire career we're moving the middle line backer you know and you talk about Eddie Kendrick being there so you have two guys in the middle so I'm good with that you got Mike Zimmer switching them to 4-3 so that definitely is helpful for the Dallas Cowboys I think that's going to make them a bit more formidable defensively because they were getting R they were getting ran over last season I think that that's something that they're addressing defensively and major props to them I'm going to say this though I don't think you can guarantee that they're a playoff team because for me okay they won a division last year they won 12 games each of the last each of the last three seasons before they went home obviously but the flip side to it is that I expect the Eagles to win the NFC East if we unless we're saying the Cowboys are going to win the division then we've got to look at the Dallas Cowboys as a wild card okay let's take into account the wild card scenario somebody coming out of the North whether it's Detroit or Green Bay okay you look at the South everybody's brought up Atlanta you look at the West I understand we're looking at San Francisco I don't know if y'all checked or not but Shawn McVey seems to be doing a good job uh with the Los Angeles Rams book nura is a real baller Matthew Stafford is still there we know they've lost Aaron Donald but we expect them to still be formidable we can't sarily dismiss the fact that the possibility rather that the Dallas Cowboys could end up missing the postseason yes you have CD lamb well who's your number two Brandon Cooks all right that's fine who's your number three receivers and what have you a bunch of dudes named Jaylen whose last names we can't remember all right and you look at that your running your running back is Ezekiel Elliott um I'm sorry this ain't the Ezekiel Elliott from years ago you understand you know you in the red zone yeah in short yarded situations you need a power back sure but in terms of elusivity and making sure that you can sit up there and chunk yards chew up the clock etc etc we don't know if he's that dude any longer we weren't paying much attention to him to begin with you know once he went to New England and once he departed from the Cowboys we're paying attention to him now because he's back with the Cowboys but still there's a lot to be desired when other teams was making moves the Dallas Cowboys always did it and I don't see them winning the division so now we're talking about them competing for a wild card spot and then I'm looking at their schedule you know coming up this year seven of the Cowboys first 10 games are against playoff teams from last year I got to think about that so I'm like it's not a foro conclusion that they're going to the playoffs yes they're good but because they're not great and they're going up against other teams that are good how do we know they're going to make the playoffs I don't well Stevie listen Rams ners Packers and Detroit the NFC South winner Eagles and and a Cowboys that's seven who's going to break that well you like the Saints are going to make the playoffs they're going to be in a playoff team Dallas is gonna they have a good quarterback they're going to be a playoff now they now they're going to win a Super Bowl they're going to win a conference different story they'll be one of the seven b degrees they'll be one of the seven in the postseason got to leave it there uh from the pro throughout training camp still no deal there he has one year left on his deal didn't go to Oxnard with the team for training camp Cav are back in Texas and I think once the preseason games are over there's a long stretch of days between that and the start of the regular season this is a deal that feels like it's been close for a while I think it gets hammered out in plenty of time for week one yeah speaking of CD lamb he's what the Dallas Cowboys need to get over that playoff hump 12 and five over the last three years and speaking of receivers let's bring our guy Hawk back in now we're not going to run it but I can tell you that Lewis Ric used the term sabotage with what Jerry Jones and the Cowboys are doing by not signing CD lamb and getting this deal done Hawk do you agree I I do agree I do agree because he is so important to this team which we all understand but specifically how they run this quote unquote Texas Coast offense the entire thing runs through CD lamb in business they call it a keyman risk that a company is only as valuable as the guy who makes the thing go CD lamb is at pece for this offense in the west coast because it's Dink and dunk and you pick your shots and CD Lamb's versatility he actually has multiple roles because he's also the Deep threat he's the short threat he plays the slot he plays the outside Ferguson Cooks Dak Ezekiel Elliott all of their production is based on CD lamb being a threat in that offense and if he is not there they won't be able to to to continue what they've done from from a season too check out these numbers Bart it seems like the Cowboys are CD or nothing yeah I mean listen I think we all know that this deal is going to eventually get done nobody foresees him not being there for week one you know sometimes deadlines sperm action um but listen I'm happy that you know Jerry Jones has made it uncomfortable around there it's been a country club guys get rewarded guys get paid for no reason know you think about Zeke and and then they don't really have the results like right now I think he's going to get his deal but I can applaud what Jerry Jones done I don't think this team is as void of talent as everybody tries to make them out to be I think the Dallas Cowboys still are in position to maybe win this division but is this the guy to make the example out no no no I don't I don't think this is about the example I think this is about the details right this yeah I think they really kind of know the number I think it's about structure it's about being able to have guaranteed money it's all the little things this is where Jerry's trying to negotiate trying to make sure that he has more flexibility that it's not a deal that benefits the player like Dak Prescott where he finds himself you know at the mercy of the player later in this contract because CD is not a one contract guy he's a two contract guy so you want to make sure you structure this in the right way that you have some type of flexibility and we know from their history the Cowboys want to make this a longer contract help spread out that signing bonus hit uh and and the player often times wants the shorter contract because he wants to hit free agency again while he's still young so I think a lot of that is going back and forth once the Justin Jefferson deal got done I do think that the numbers the Money numbers were pretty well set but the Cowboys are looking at trying to do a deal with Dak Prescott possibly before the start of the Season they're looking at trying to do a deal with Micah Parson's next off season uh so they have to fit these all together this is what they've been telling all three of these guys all along we have to structure these deals so they fit together uh and so far they haven't been able to do it I think they want to get a a sense of what the daak deal is going to look like before they sign off on a CD deal yeah and Hawk we were talking about it earlier with a receiver you guys aren't structured to just go from independently working out to week one NFL speed in a game that's has to be a concern if this deal gets done within the next week getting ready for that season opener in Cleveland absolutely absolutely there's no way to get ready to play receiver in the National Football League except by playing wide receiver in the National Football League it doesn't matter what kind of drills who you're working out with how good a shape you think you are there's a level of intensity that you just can't duplicate by yourself it's like when you're injured or someone's coming back from injury you can do all the cone drills and change of direction that you know is coming you want but in a game it's completely different and here's the analogy I used we can all say hey if I told you to run as fast as you possibly could you would think that that was fast and then if I put bobcat in the room you would hit a whole new level that's what a CD lamb is not able to prepare for I mean welcome to the new NFL this is where we are right guys are going to try and today we bring you news that could be key to the future of our team's ground game with Ezekiel Elliott back but with some doubts about whether he can continue being the lead running back and Rico D inexperience the situation in our backfield is full of uncertainty but what if I told you there's a solution in Chicago the Bears have an extremely talented group of running backs and among them khil Herbert stands out a player who could be the piece the Cowboys need to strengthen their rushing attack Herbert who was in the final year of his rookie contract has a salary cap hit of only $1 million making him a very attractive option without compromising the team's finances but why would Herbert be a good option for the Cowboys his running style is the perfect compliment to Elliot and dle which would allow Dallas to implement a r running back by committee approach in this system Herbert could Thrive and his arrival could immediately improve our back field giving us the depth needed to face a long season the best part is that acquiring Herbert shouldn't cost too much a trade could be resolved with a third day pick in the 2025 NFL draft which would be a bargain for a player of his caliber for the Bears this trade would also make sense they could maintain a strong Back Field while acquiring addition picks for their rebuilding process this would be a
