IT WAS A GOOD FISHING WEATHER WHEN IT'S 107. I ALWAYS THOUGHT IT WASN'T, BUT SOME PEOPLE SAY IF YOU'RE FISHING IT DOESN'T MATTER. TEMPERATURE AT ALL. WAIT, WHAT IS THAT SAYING? ALL OF THEM, THOUGH, HAD THE SAME ADVICE GET OUT EARLY AT KLYDE WARREN PARK IN DOWNTOWN DALLAS. HOW'S THE WATER DOING? THE ELLIS KIDS HAVE THE RIGHT IDEA. YOU CAN PLAY IN THE WATER FOR THE LAST COUPLE OF HOURS. RIGHT, GUYS? YES, EVERYBODY'S VERY WET. MONDAY'S SKYROCKETING TEMPERATURES MEANT ENJOYING THE OUTDOORS EARLY. I'M AT WORK, SO IT'S COLD INSIDE. Stephanie Felton BUT I SHOULD HAVE NEVER WALKED OUT. THAT'S ALL I KNOW. STEPHANIE FELTON AND HER FRIEND MET FOR AN 11 A.M. LUNCH. THEY SNAGGED A TABLE IN THE SHADE. IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE A LOT HOTTER Butcher Sun LATER, SO WE TRIED TO GET OUT EARLY SO WE CAN ENJOY SOME OF THE SUNSHINE BEFORE IT GETS MISERABLE AT THE USUALLY BUSY BUTCHER'S SON FOOD TRUCK. THERE Construction workers WAS NO LINE. YOU KNOW, WHEN IT'S, OVER 100 OUT, WE JUST DON'T GET AS MANY PEOPLE DOWN THE STREET. DOZENS OF CONSTRUCTION WORKERS WERE TASKED WITH POURING CONCRETE. THEIR SUPERVISOR SAYS HIS CREWS START AT 6 A.M. ON DAYS LIKE TODAY. SO THEY CAN WRAP UP EARLIER IN THE Dallas Fire Rescue DAY BEFORE THE HOT TEMPERATURES PEAK. THEY'VE GOT PLENTY OF WATER ON HAND, SO FAR THIS MONTH. DALLAS FIRE RESCUE HAS RESPONDED TO 86 HEAT RELATED CALLS. TO PUT THAT IN PERSPECTIVE, DURING THE SAME TIME PERIOD IN LAST YEAR'S HEAT WAVE, THE BFR RESPONDED TO 228 CALLS. MEDSTAR HAS RUN 224 HEAT RELATED CALLS, SO FAR THIS MONTH AT TCU IN FORT WORTH. IT'S THE FIRST DAY BACK TO SCHOOL. MORE THAN 12,000 STUDENTS, INCLUDING MORE THAN 2,401ST YEAR STUDENTS, WERE ON CAMPUS FOR THE NEW ACADEMIC YEAR. THERE WERE WATER Walking in the heat STATIONS SPREAD THROUGHOUT, AND SOME STUDENTS CARRIED PORTABLE FANS. THESE GUYS HAD TOWELS. I'M NOT GOING TO LIE, THESE SHORTS WERE PANTS AT FIRST AND I TURNED THEM INTO SHORTS IN THE MIDDLE OF WALKING. IT WAS TOO HOT FOR THIS. IT WAS WAY TOO HOT FOR THIS. YEAH, IT'S PRETTY BAD. I HAD TO WALK LIKE TEN MINUTES. IT FELT LIKE A HALF AN HOUR. THE Food trucks HEAT GOT TO ME. I'M SWEATING. I'M GOING TO CLASS LIKE I FEEL LIKE I'M SMELLING ALREADY, YOU KNOW? BUT, I MEAN, IT'S TEXAS. WE'RE USED TO IT. YOU KNOW, THESE FOOD TRUCK DRIVERS REALLY HAVE IT TOUGH WITH THEIR GRILLS AND OVENS ON. IT CAN BE ANOTHER 10 TO 15 DEGREES HOTTER INSIDE OF THEIR VEHICLES.
