DAN AND BRANDON, THIS WATER DISTRIBUTION EFFORT OUTSIDE OF LONE STAR PARK HAS BEEN UP AND RUNNING FOR CLOSE TO AN HOUR NOW, AND THINGS ARE MOVING ALONG QUICKLY. EVERY GRAND PRAIRIE RESIDENT WHO PULLS UP IS ABLE TO RECEIVE A SIZABLE PACK OF WATER, MAYBE 35 OR 40 BOTTLES. THEY'VE GOT WHAT LOOKS LIKE AN EFFICIENT OPERATION HERE WITH CONES DESIGNATING DIFFERENT LANES TO KEEP TRAFFIC FLOWING. WE ARE GETTING MORE INFORMATION FROM THE CITY ABOUT THE NATURE OF THE PROBLEM. OFFICIALS SAY A FOAMING AGENT WAS DETECTED IN THE WATER SUPPLY NORTH OF I-20. THIS MAP SHOWS WHERE THE ADVISORY APPLIES. THE AREA IN PINK WE'RE TALKING ABOUT NORTH OF I-20. AND THEN WHEN YOU GET NORTH OF I-30, THE AFFECTED AREA EXPANDS. THE CITY SAYS TAP WATER SHOULD NOT BE USED FOR DRINKING, COOKING, BRUSHING TEETH, OR MAKING BEVERAGES OR ICE. OTHERWISE IT SAYS ILLNESS COULD RESULT. GRAND PRAIRIE SAYS IT IS ACTING ON INSTRUCTIONS FROM THE TEXAS COMMISSION ON ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY. TAP WATER SHOULD NOT BE USED FOR PETS OR ANIMALS TO DRINK AND NOT FOR DISHWASHING, THE ADVISORY SAYS. THE TAP WATER SUPPLY IN THE DESIGNATED AREAS SHOULD ONLY BE USED FOR FLUSHING TOILETS. FOR NOW, THE ADVISORY ALSO SAYS EFFORTS TO MAKE THE WATER SAFE, LIKE BOILING OR FILTERING BY RESIDENTS, SHOULD NOT BE DONE. HERE'S WHAT WE HEARD THIS MORNING FROM ONE GRAND PRAIRIE RESIDENT WHO WAITED IN LINE FOR WATER. WE HAD USED IT LAST NIGHT, BUT WE DUMPED IT BECAUSE WE HEARD THE NEWS THIS MORNING. WE HAD A LITTLE BIT OF WATER THAT WE COULD MAKE COFFEE WITH, BUT THAT'S IT. I'M NOT GETTING ANY SMELL OR ANYTHING FROM IT. AS FOR WHEN THE PROBLEM WILL BE FIXED, THE CITY SAYS CREWS ARE CURRENTLY INVESTIGATING THE ISSUE AND WORKING TO ISOLATE THE AFFECTED AREA. THE ADVISORY WILL REMAIN IN EFFECT UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. THE GRAND PRAIRIE ISD SAID, AS OUT OF AN ABUNDANCE OF CAUTION, IT CANCELED CLASSES TODAY. THE DISTRICT SAYS ITS REGULAR SCHEDULE WILL RESUME TOMORROW. THE CITY OF GRAND PRAIRIE SAYS IT WILL PROVIDE UPDATES ON THE WHOLE SITUATION ON ITS OFFICIAL WEBSITE.
