YOU CAN SEE PACKS OF WATER BOTTLES NUMBERING 40 OR PERHAPS 35 BOTTLES. THE WATER WILL BE AVAILABLE AT OTHER LOCATIONS ALSO TODAY. THOSE ARE STILL TO BE ANNOUNCED. ONE THING WE'RE NOT FINDING OUT YET IS HOW LONG THIS ADVISORY IS GOING TO REMAIN IN EFFECT, CITY OFFICIALS SAY. FOR NOW, IT'S UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. WE ARE GETTING A LITTLE BIT MORE INFORMATION ABOUT THE NATURE OF THE PROBLEM. THE CITY SAYS A FOAMING AGENT WAS DETECTED IN THE WATER SUPPLY NORTH OF I-20. THIS MAP SHOWS WHERE THE ADVISORY APPLIES. THE AREA IN PINK WE ARE TALKING ABOUT NORTH OF I-20. AND THEN WHEN YOU GET NORTH OF I-30, THE AFFECTED AREA EXPANDS. THE CITY SAYS TAP WATER SHOULD NOT BE USED FOR DRINKING, COOKING, BRUSHING TEETH, OR MAKING BEVERAGES OR ICE. OTHERWISE, IT SAYS ILLNESS COULD RESULT. GRAND PRAIRIE SAYS IT IS ACTING ON INSTRUCTIONS FROM THE TEXAS COMMISSION ON ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY. TAP WATER SHOULD NOT BE USED FOR PETS OR ANIMALS TO DRINK AND NOT FOR DISHWASHING. LAST NIGHT, THE CITY WAS HANDING OUT 24 PACKS OF BOTTLED WATER TO RESIDENTS. THIS DISTRIBUTION HAPPENING AT CITY HALL. THE ADVISORY SAYS THE WATER SUPPLY IN THE DESIGNATED AREAS SHOULD ONLY BE USED FOR FLUSHING. FOR NOW, AND THE ADVISORY ALSO STATES EFFORTS TO MAKE THE WATER SAFE, LIKE BOILING OR FILTERING BY RESIDENTS, SHOULD NOT BE USED. AS FOR WHEN THE PROBLEM WILL BE FIXED, THE CITY SAYS CREWS ARE CURRENTLY INVESTIGATING THE ISSUE AND WORKING TO ISOLATE THE AFFECTED AREA. THE GRAND PRAIRIE ISD HAS ANNOUNCED THAT OUT OF AN ABUNDANCE OF CAUTION, IT HAS CANCELED ALL CLASSES FOR TODAY. THE DISTRICT SAYS IT WILL RESUME ITS REGULAR SCHEDULE TOMORROW.
