SEMO sportsource you want to join because Camp just started today they'll practice tomorrow they'll practice Friday then they're gonna take Saturday off if I'm not mistaken so I think we'll get to see them in pads on Friday I think they do two acclamation days which today was one of them on Wednesday Thursday will be the next one and I think they'll be in pads on Friday probably not full pads but shells helmets shoulder pads we'll try to ask coach norell that after practice on Thursday to see what he can say about that uh we'll go ahead and start off with our guy Rob castania Aon impressions of practice do you want me to like you want me to like pretend like I'm throwing the ball like DJ so with Tom Lang being up in New York City uh I I've kind of Taken on the uh the ownership if you will of of watching The Trenches so I didn't get to watch a lot of seven on seven one-on-one uh Team stuff from a offensive perspective I was really focused on on the lines the offensive and defensive line looking at the replay screen they have at the facility which is awesome um I actually wrote like this really nice email to Corey and um Ira giving all my observations on the trenches and then they proceeded to not post it so that kind of hurt my feelings a little bit so let's just go ahead and pull that back up I will say this I know it's not sexy because it's offensive line defensive line stuff but I feel like there probably is nobody in their position group that is is as far ahead as everybody else and I don't I'm not saying I'm not using this as a knock on the offensive line the offensive line is going to be just fine but Darius Washington is is clearly ahead of everybody in the offensive line room his reps are absolutely crisp textbook perfect I mean Gabe fertita who's the offensive line assistant coach I guess you could say pretty much tells everybody to look at Darius in the way that he performs so uh he's looking really good let's see if Cory Clark's looking really good let's bring him back in see how he sounds Cory give us some give us some dlid tones please is this any better at all it is okay all right okay you I sound good that was rough that was really rough Cory don't ever do that to me again okay we feel good though now about how I sound yeah yeah okay great great I think I just wasn't plugged in all the way awesome appreciate that we're good though we did it we figured it out everyone so I wanted to Rob wanted to get impressions of practice which everybody obviously wants to get impressions of practice I was telling them giving them a preamble about about the fact that I I was kind of watching offensive line defensive line didn't watch a lot of quarterbacks a lot of receivers I do want to get a little followup on this because you and Jeff talked about it after practice you guys kind of went and talked about Brock Glenn before he talked about any other quarterback I know it's day one no one's panicking no one's saying anything is uh the status quo is being upset here by any stretch of the imagination but I mean can you maybe expound a little bit on why Brock seemed to catch your eye at least yeah I mean all the biggest plays came from most of the biggest plays came from his right arm he was sharp uh he used the middle of the field really well which is always a nice progression to see with a with a Young quarterback that they can use the middle of the field and see it and and Trust in what they're seeing he didn't make any horrible throws he made some really nice ones he in one-on ones he hit back toback I would guess 40 or 50 yard passes to Jaylen Lucas and KRON portier and then he just carried that over to seven on seven and 11 on 11 I thought he was the sharpest of the day but it also needs to be um understood he's not going up against fin Cheryl Cyprus and aaria Thomas and Shaheen Brown like maybe the other quarterback is do you know what I mean I in no way is this a quarterback controversy DJ is the starter I just thought it was good to see Brock Glenn and DJ wasn't horrible by any stretch he just he didn't hit a lot of big plays in the practice but you know there were days in the last two years where Jordan Travis didn't either but he didn't turn the ball over DJ didn't and again he's going up against more of what you would consider first teamers than Brock Glenn was um so keep that in mind but just because of what Brock Glenn looked like to end last season and then he got kind of the spring interrupted with a bit of an inj injury for him to come out on the first day and look like that is a really good sign I thought okay I like that I mean you know to a certain degree I almost kind of for I don't want to say forgot about Brock Glenn but you know you you mentioned it with Jeff unfortunately for Brock you know the lasting images for a lot of people are you know the the sort of uneven performance we can call it against Louisville in the ACC Championship game which he still won that's right that's a dub that's a dub baby wisar quarterback sat over here this Midtown offices then obviously against Georgia which I mean I'm not judging his future base on what that game was but it was an ugly gross game and you know you're gonna have some lingering residual effects of what that happens but um it's cool to see that he's obviously out there competing really hard Cory I don't know if this sounds probably too dramatic but it I don't know it felt like today in that ipf when they started doing team stuff like in the the periods like late teenss and the early 20s like 18 1920 like there there was a level of kind of energy and and intensity that I don't remember feeling in spring so I wonder if maybe some of that stuff kind of got ratcheted up and maybe that's why there was some uneven performance from the the quarterbacks at least DJ's case uh yeah maybe I I I didn't necessarily see that I guess like you did um because I it just they all all feel the same to me when it comes to a Mike norbel practice they don't seem to be ratcheted up more than others because they always seem to be ratcheted about as high as they can be ratcheted that's as many times as you can use the word ratchet or ratcheted in one paragraph in the history of the internet so you just saw some history folks uh but I I do think that again going back to what what we want to see in this and what I want to see especially in these first few days with the with with only helmets on and no pads you can't really get a good game of what's going on in the front seven right as far as physicality you just can't they're they're wearing shorts but you receivers and DBS you can get more and quarterbacks and how they're seeing it you can get a you can get a pretty good read in my opinion of that and um you know I thought that Morlock was good had a good day today and I and I wrote about it in our observations we don't want to give it all the way folks you need to be on warchant you get to read these things as soon as they're up they've been up for seven hours at this point um that uh in one-on ones DJ threw a ball that Morlock in norvell's eyes should have caught it would have been a good catch would have been a nice catch but nor Norvell made uh no bones about the fact that he thought his tight end should have caught the ball in fact he screamed L him yelled at him screamed as too harsh we got to have that we got to have that catch and then the rest of the practice Morlock made every catch and made some big ones he had a 20- y uh DJ hit him on a really nice uh 35 yard touchdown in seven on seven probably DJ's best throw of the day honestly and best read um but Morlock looked like a um he had taken a step we we know he can he can go catch but you want to see that kind of stuff you want to see how the pass catchers are doing the skill players are doing because that's all you can I think from an outside perspective and again we're lucky enough to get to watch all these that's all you can really gauge um when it comes to team stuff right like oneon-one seven on seven and 11 on 11 it's it's who's catching the ball who's getting open who's making in the place and Morlock had a nice day um hem had a couple really nice catches which is good to see I think that those kind of guys are the guys you want to hear about U Jaylen Brown had a couple of tough catches uh one one one in one-on ones one and SE two on seven on sevens where he made some really nice catches so those are the guys that the the newer guys the newcomers that you want to hear taken uh uh positive steps and I thought for one day a lot of the young guys freshman included Brock linnn included thought looked really good Jay frame from Daytona Beach here quoting iers yeah man that's exactly what we're doing pull up a chair yeah we're gonna be doing it for a month be doing it for a month yeah one of the the bigger chunk plays I remember actually getting my eyes on because I was just watching the offensive and defensive lines and again I mean they're not in pads but they're still kind of attacking one another to a certain degree and then I'm looking at the replay in the screen behind me but I did see hem I think catch one uh probably like in the 20 25 yard gain variety so that was good to see he had aop it was a good catch like it was a it was a hand catch he had to extend running horizontally extend with both hands and snag it it was a really nice catch for him and he looks he looks quicker than he did in the spring I'll just say that he looks quicker and faster and twitchier than he did in the spring he looks bigger too which is weird right I he looks he he's he's a well-composed young man I mean there's like a 8sec shot that we have of him that I've I've gotten the video from the Raw rce footage which by the way I think I figured something out that the raw practice footage might look a little bit better tomorrow and moving forward TBD we'll see um follow along subscribe and everything but yeah man he is he is so well like put together in the gym and everything it just feel like it's going to be the whole consistency thing which applies to so many people but I mean if he if he's the guy that can fulfill what he sees in the mirror and what we see when we see him running around then that's going to be a really uh good velopment for Flor State's offense otherwise the only other big play I remember seeing which again they were I'm sure they were going on left and right Cory's got all the observations over at warchant.com Jaylen Lucas is in that kind of Johnny Wilson space for me Corey where it's all right man well he was six foot s like how come he didn't produce at Arizona State like what was the problem there Jayden Daniels was his quarterback yeah Jaylen Lucas was in Indiana he's playing in the Big 10 against these slower plotting more physical defenses why wasn't he just busting off runs left and right and lighting up the scoreboard in Bloomington U I think I'm not gonna say that's I'm not gonna feel that in my heart I said it out loud but I don't I'm not going to subscribe to that kind of weird logic if you will because he's just a different level of speed a different level of quickness and I know that you like kind of quoting guys that you hear talking about their teammates at practice and Destin Hill which by the way wasn't wearing any kind of bracing right right it's all I'm going to say I I don't think anybody should read too much into that I was gon to say he's not a medical Marvel I I think we want to throw that out there too um but he was like wo woohoo he's like I like that kid uh he's he's gonna be part of the the mix to to put it lightly I feel like oh 100% yeah he's in the game plan he there will be six to eight to 10 times uh a game that they're going to try to get him the ball and get him matched up with somebody that does not want to be matched up with him and quite frankly he's an impossible matchup for anyone um in one-on ons just like jaki just like his brother I've said that for three years one-on-one jakai Douglas can't be guarded he just can't he's too quick and and he's got all that space to work with he's too quick um jaylen's a little bit quicker a little bit faster and we all know how quick and fast jakai is uh so that's saying something you guys will all see if you haven't already um yeah man Jaylen Lucas is going to be a uh an impact player for this team uh in some capacity I don't know if it's going to be 10 carries a game or 40 catches I literally have no idea but or kick returns or punt returns he was out there at punt returner too um he dropped one which he needs to not do that um but yeah Jaylen Lucas is going to be a big time player in on this offense um he that's almost the certainty right hem we still don't know um name other guys we we don't know um but TOA Jaylen Lucas Morlock Malik Benson I think those are automatic skill position guys that are going to get a ton of reps jakai Douglas too everybody else is is fighting for playing time which is a good thing it's a healthy competition I did want to go back to Brock Glenn real quick just because I forgot my train of thought um again it's one practice and there's certainly not anybody on our website anybody in this show right now that thinks there is a a real quarterback battle um again DJ is DJ was can you imagine uh what would battles in say if DJ is the second streak quarterback you know what I mean that's not something that's a real it's probably not real like look now Brock Glenn if he Stacks up three straight weeks of this all right you have a real there's something go you might have a real decision but no DJ is the starting quarterback um but um Brock Glenn I think and I mentioned this a little bit in the spring because he had a couple good days in the spring games like Louisville and especially games like he won that game and it was an impossible situation for a third string quarterback but then the Georgia game comes along those can those can [ __ ] athletes and and ruin you know derail their careers maybe forever I mean those were it's not just that you you didn't score an offensive touchdown against Louisville Lawrence TOA did and then you got beat by 60 points in that nonsensical exhibition in in Miami you know it it you did that on National Television for the world to see and we all know Brock Glenn as a confident kid case and point the Florida game but um he is you know the the a a a a weaker minded person a less confident person that could derail their careers and it didn't that that was the coolest thing is like I I ju what what Tuesday proved to me what Wednesday proved to me is that Brock Glenn is very very very much in contention to be the starting quarterback in 2025 okay that's what he was he was that good that I'm like okay that's a guy they can really work with he his confidence is not waned he's still throwing over the middle um he's still got some he's got that Cockiness man which you really kind of want your quarterback to have so it was it was good to see and also real quick because people I'm sure want to know lne McCoy I don't even think I can't even remember a play that he made where you're like wow that was something I think that kid's gonna play this year I I I think that kid has a chance to be special there's just some wiggle to him and something different about him and then Elijah Moore had a 70- yard touchdown it was against a walk- on safety that he beat to the Ed Edge but still he beat him and he he caught another pass that if he didn't trip himself up against a real uh I shouldn't say real against the scholarship DB he made a cut move and got past him and if he doesn't trip over his own feet that might have been a 50- yard touchdown like he's a big kid that can move which is uh he's going to be interesting he's gonna be interesting to watch these next three weeks like how much can a guy that comes in um late uh get how much of a chance does he have to get on the field but you know he's certainly got a lot of the tools and if you're cynical and you're like well you guys said this about van draus Jacobs last year and he didn't play he had a really good spring and then I think he might have been a little bit banged up and nicked up in Fall camp but L McCoy seems to be alive and well so yeah that's why yeah vrus took a a significant and noticeable step back from the spring to the summer to the fall um just like H Keem Williams took a noticeable step forward last year at this time um yeah L McCoy because lne McCoy was good in the spring and then he had a little bit of an injury and didn't I don't think he got to practice the last two weeks he didn't play in the spring game but he was coming on in the spring and he looked just like he did in the spring he's uh that's that was a good signing by them let's go it is football season pull it give him his theme music dollar dollar bills [Music] y'all dollar dollar bills y'all Zan in the soon to be my dentist I think I'm gonna have to go up to Thomasville get some stuff checked out I think oh all right okay um boys Camp is in session countdown to kickoff begins can't wait to see y'all 32 days if I'm not mistaken right now Corey 31 when people are listening to their uh Thursday podcast of wake up warchamp is it the game August 24th it is oh yeah I guess it would be yeah it's exactly the 31 days from it's like crazy it's one month from now less than a month from now you'll be in we'll be in Ireland but uh the game will be the game I guess will be over by this time right a month from now the game will be over yeah we'll be at a pub somewhere filming our uh war chant rap patties patio males hey Herby what happened yeah that's right Herby's gonna be on a jet back like oh your dog's not welcome in here kir soon as that kicks off he's on a jet back to the uh United States uh shout out to Z Chan thanks so much Zach you're the dude let scroll up here I think you asked maybe a question after you dropped 200 American dollars on our freaking heads like a wild man um I don't see a question but as soon as he pops something up on here we're GNA put on the screen because that's how we roll on the show we appreciate you folks yeah thank you thank you very much Zach thank you buddy hopefully we'll see in Ireland if not sooner than that I think they're going oh maybe he's not going to Ireland I can't remember uh shout out to Cory Bates dropping five bucks in the jar CB do you think some players coaches will be more aggressive this year due to the snub like run up the score send out the field goal unit if they're up 52 to 13 uh you know P the players were asked a lot about that at media day on Monday and other than farmer who said they were pissed off that's a direct quote by the way in quotes direct quote uh and it makes sense of course they are they also did a good job of talking about that's last year's team like their record their 13-0 record last year means nothing this year they really do seem like they've kind of put it behind them and it does help a lot that it's such a different team you know what I mean like I maybe it her I don't know it obviously be great if you had all these guy Bon and bur decided to come back and Johnny Wilson and Keon but um it's such a different team that I think their motivation is going to be like more like um some of so many of them are unproven DJ's got motiv that has nothing to do with the snub clearly Morlock wants to be an NFL tight end those offensive linemen want to be NFL tight ends Malik Benson wants to be a number one receiver AAR Thomas wants to be a first round pick Patrick pton wants to be an NFL defensive end and they they're kind of they're not the big big name Stars yet that the guys on last year's team were so I think there's a different kind of motivation than just last year's snub I think it's more about number one wanting to keep Florida State where it is but also their own individual you know what I mean like I'm not saying they're IND individualistic or individual mind I'm just saying that if it was Jordan Travis Jared bur Trey Benson Keon Coleman Johnny Wilson Jem bell all coming back this year then I think the snub would be a motivation like screw you guys watch this we're going to be the best team you've ever seen I think this year's team is so different um that I don't know that the snub really has much impact on them that's my two cents the coaching staff a completely different story so maybe Norvell will run it up when he gets a chance he should I don't know about running it up but I I I think it's going to leave a mark on them I think they'll perform really well when their backs are against the wall if they're ever in a game where their backs are against the wall like I think that's the sort of stuff that'll Mo I think it'll motivate them in those like more challenging moments of a football season the ups and downs of if you will I don't think it's going to be like a revenge tour we're just out here to absolutely humiliate and blow everybody's doors off because first I don't I don't even know they really can do that um I think they can win all the games on their schedule I don't think they will but I mean they can win all the games on their schedule but I don't think they're built like 2013 Florida State to just humiliate and eviscerate their and and honestly what college football teams are anymore that's not it gets closer and closer to the NFL where every game even the best teams in the country they're in a one-score game in the fourth quarter against a team they're favored heavily against that happens all the time all over the country uh shine life can we stop with the Willie tager intro with the music to every video no we cannot good question though fair question Garrett PCL who's had the biggest physical transformation I don't know if it's transformation but again like I was looking at the offensive and defensive lines all day Wednesday and like Richie Leonard and Richie Leonard came here already a large human being he looks like prototypical just offensive guard just yeah wide thick uh not sloppy in the I mean maybe he's got a little bit of a belly on it but man he just he's really well put together and I think he's I don't I don't want to might want to use so Sharpie when you're going to put his name on the depth chart I feel like at this point right now so but again I don't if he transformed nearly as much but I mean farmer looks ridiculous like in a really good way and then he's enormous he's just enormous and it's crazy so we talked to him on have we run that interview yet we ran that yesterday right yeah or earlier today I guess um what did he say he benched when he got to high got out of high school was like 280 right something like that 270 and now he's mentioned 430 and it shows man he is just a massive massive human being and it was funny Ira texted or tweeted something about it looked like he took a picture of me interviewing farmer and I was doing this like I wanted to fight and I retweeted that and I almost tweeted back uh farmer doesn't want this smoke and then I'm like you know what no I we don't have that kind of relationship where he would know I was joking and literally I feel like I'm in good shape I like I'm proud of what I've done the last two years Josh farmer could kill me under I would guess 25 seconds probably right I mean literally those people it's it's they're so so people those those those linemen those big NFL caliber football players NFL caliber defensive lineman and offensive linemen are so big that when you're St it just doesn't compute it just like I I can't even imagine what it would feel like to try to move him off a off a spot I couldn't do it even if I got a 30 yard Head Start I couldn't do it he would just clothesline me and I'd I would probably be in the hospital but farmer if you want some come get it [Music] T giddy in the house everybody oh Thomas the man should be wearing my my uh I've got apparel apparel by T giddy like my closet should just have like a a t giddy wing with all the stuff that he's given us over the years I think i' got like a FSU hockey jersey I've got a FSU hockey shirt U some Union firefighting benevolent Association shirts which I wore after I survived my near drowning in the British Virgin Island so shout out to t g he appreciate you also throwing 50 bucks in the jar Cory nazal thanks for getting us through the summer he says looking forward to more shows to listen to during the season we didn't give you enough so we're cranking out like three a week man Thomas don't listen Aon I appreciate the question Corey can we start a built by storms fund for the Speedy Brady Clark thanks for all you guys you see you during the season uh no I think stormes probably cost too much I spent too much money on that kid anyway I can't rent out a uh one of an elite apparently college football uh strength strength and conditioning coach uh but but going back to that question about but yes uh thank you very much Thomas thank you very much it was our pleasure uh we really do appreciate it um going back to the the question about the physical transformation it's hard from a spring to it's only been four months so like to aely can tell tell us he put on five pounds of muscle it's hard to see that when you're already an athletic muscular kid right the kid uh from Auburn Riley right that's his last name right holy moly I have no idea if he can play I assume he can play he was an SEC linebacker but holy moly is that a put together kid he is a big I was telling that to Jeff when we were watching practice him and Murphy don't know if they'll see the field I don't know what in capacity they'll see the field or how much but man they absolutely look like NFL linebackers just their body typ the way they're put together it's a lot more to football than just being uh being uh you know put together being 64 and 240 or whatever it is and having a six-pack there's a lot more to football than that you actually got to be able to move and make plays but standing just next to them they are enormous human beings they are enormous human beings and the question about how did Riley look again I'll keep reiterating this it when it's in the front seven it's hard it's hard to notice I will keep an eye on him tomorrow though when they do seven on seven because linebackers are on the field in seven on seven and obviously he's not tackling anyone he's not really trying to get through blocks or anything I do want to see how he moves he looked he looked great in the in the position drills moving but we'll see what he does I want to I want to actually pay attention to him specifically tomorrow I like to Outsource my opinions to free up as much brain space I possibly can salvage Cory so U when it comes to linebacker play I Outsource that to Jeff Cameron what what's what's Jeff's overall thoughts on DJ Lundy because I I was watching him like not in a drill but just I saw him and I'm like he's still a huge dude yeah and you know obviously kayin and um Tatum bethon were highly productive linebackers Tatum maybe less athletic than kayin but still an athletic linebacker I just wonder like what do we think DJ does I don't want to say Elite but great like he might be a great Tacker but is he a great tackler in space can he can he move sideline to sideline fast enough I just the Cam Riley talk just makes me think about maybe the doors more open for him to get involved than maybe I envisioned or uh maybe they just still have a bunch of parts that are Salvage I want to say salvageable but like adequate but obviously maybe not Elite yeah I I think DJ Lundy uh look it's not a coincidence that everybody he was brought up unsolicited by pton farmer and Mike norell um on Monday in Charlotte like that that is the leader he is one of the leaders of the defense so and they said that so he's one of the mo more vocal guys he's one of he's got he's one obviously one of the headset guys he's can could communicate with Fuller um so he's he's I I think he's locked down a starting he's played a ton of football too so I think he's locked down a starting role I think he's just a he's a physical he's not he's not an incredible athlete not many linebackers are going to hang with Jaylen Lucas that's are aely that's a that's a tough ask for any linebacker on the planet certainly College linebacker I think he's a really good athlet I just don't think he's fast he's not well he's not that's what I'm saying he's but yeah but he he serves that role well he can Ser he can hopefully be I don't know if he's instinctual as bethon was as a tackler but he's the same build same body type and and they talk about him and he's he's made a lot of tackles so he must be pretty good he's not exceptional that we don't know if they have one on the roster but I think Lundy they love that Lundy is a is a veteran presence that is a really good communicator okay I like that um scrolling up here there's a question I wanted to pop up here oh look at this guy NSB not even saying anything just he's he's lasagna he's he's a real G moving in silence I'm gonna keep my eyes open for NSB no posting something in here so he can get his money's worth what do you think NSB stands for new samna beach oh all right yeah I didn't you you knew that right off the off the Jump it's a plant it's a plant okay all these are plants there's no such guy as Z Chan it's my cousin yeah that's right just trying to get TR to make it look cool yeah that's what we did which by the way n 3505 says I'm hearing Jaylen Brown look good I want to know where he's hearing that from who else are you listening to hopefully us it could have been Cameron could have been Jeff Cameron that better have been or my uh my write up because did mention Jaylen Brown um he did um obviously we know the speed is there but you you can't just be fast and and be a college receiver you've got to make plays over the you gotta catch the ball you've got to get open and he made a really good I'm trying to think who was against I think it was Cyprus he made a diving catch in one-on ones which was a really nice nice play because Cyprus by the way Cyprus looks great um Cypress had really tight coverage Glenn threw it low and away from him and Jaylen Brown made like a to 18 20 yard catch um in 101s and then made a Sho string catch on the sidelines uh just those kind of things are what you want to see from him because you know he can get deep you know he can he's a he's a burner but he's got to take the next step as a receiver and I thought he looked he looked uh he looked good yeah you know honestly there was a lot of miscommunication in 101's where guys seem to be not where they were supposed to be or maybe the throws were just way off but I don't think that's the case but but in one-on ons they didn't look great but I thought seven on seven and 11 on 11 which is more important anyway I guess uh the receivers looked pretty darn good overall I thought they had a good day overall well let's pick up the conversation there then um Space Coast that's a really is that a French Bulldog that's a handsome that's a really handsome looking pup what's your dog's name Space Coast let us know space Co says I'm pessimistic about the season I would predict 10- two I can I can see 9 and three did you see anything today that would suggest otherwise give us hope if you're pessimistic is 10- two man you like where you are as a football program if that's being a pessimist 10- two and being in a playoff hunt probably being in the ACC Championship game that's uh that's we like where we are now um yeah like I just said but before this question space coast I'm gonna guess you think bukus would be a good name for that dog I always love the name buckus for one of those type of dogs but maybe buckus needs to be bigger like a bigger type Bulldog like Rocky head um the the receivers I thought the receivers and Malik Benson didn't even do anything in my opinion special at all really good rep in one-on ones it was Malik Benson versus Earl little with DJ throwing to him like a little 10 yard I don't know in route in Cut Earl riddle had really good coverage DJ put it right on him Malik Benson makes the throw little still trying to chop it out it was just a great rep by everyone that's what that that's how good programs are built or good teams are built and great programs are sustained that kind of competition level Malik Benson versus Earl little with DJ throwing to him they none of them were here last year I get it but all three of those guys have NFL potential and that that they just compete it's really really competitive and I thought overall the way the receivers played in seven on seven and 11 on 11 game me some hope that this offense can maybe be uh you know better than last year's when it's all said and done production wise just I I will never I mean they're gonna have to score like 45 points a game and you guys are gonna have to tag me in tweets every week showing me that they're top three in the country in offense for me to think even when it's happening I'm still not going to believe it I can't believe we're talking about last year's team like there were some underperforming units but last year's team didn't do that and like you know they had what 16 points in the fourth quarter till against Duke they only put they beat Miami by a touchdown like there were games where but Miami game they were up by two scores and they got a little but that you know again they they they scored 27 in that game uh they they weren't coming down the stretch with especially when Keon got hurt Cory you talked about parody in college football and how it looks more like the NFL man like you you might have a couple nip and Tuck games but um I mean they were always a control I mean what game were you scared as maybe boss in college for a minute or two BC for the whole fourth quarter um because the offense just crumbled but no I my point is that I do think that offense was really good last year it was it was efficient they won every game but it wasn't it wasn't a juggernaut statistically it averaged I don't know we we do this every T show Almost I can never remember what they averaged per game but it was probably the neighborhood of 33 35 points I think this offense can do that now there's going to be less plays so maybe not but you're averaging in the neighborhood of 30 to 33 points you're going to win most of the games especially with the defense you you should have that's all I don't think it well you're not gonna have Keon you don't have Johnny DJ is not as good as Jordan Travis Trey Bon you know we'll see what the running back room does but in the whole in the collective maybe there's a chance uh in the aggregate maybe there's a chance that Florida State can equal what they did last year production wise maybe um obviously again those last three games of the Season without full capacity they finished with 401 yards of offense average per game that was 52 in the country a scoring offense was 34.6 points that was 19th in the country um again last three games not nearly at full strength offense yeah is the Georgia game c like if you took the Georgia Louisville and Florida games out I bet they were they were probably close to 38 or 40 points a game I would imagine yeah yeah yeah no they were good they were good Keon not being Keon at the end of the year um really was a you know he didn't do anything against Louisville except drop a couple balls like they they didn't have he wasn't special at the end of the year which made that made that offense obviously Jordan Travis not being there either wasn't great it made the offense a little more pedestrian than it was in the early part of the season I did have one thought if you want to think about this offense maybe being better than last year which I just I can't I didn't say that I said they might have the same kind of I meant to say they might have similar production to last year I would never say in the fourth quarter all right you got DJ under Center you you're going to go win this game like I would have with Jordan Travis you know Jordan Travis I always thought he was gonna make a play to win you the game yeah I I'm not there yet with DJ at all and I'm not there with these running backs with Trey Benson are the receivers yet yeah I I don't think there's a sub package where Norvell is like all right 13 four get off the field get off the field guys we're gonna send out we're gonna send these guys out instead um but I didn't notice there was a play where I I don't think DJ saw it nearly as quick as he wanted to but the velocity on the throw was so check plus that it still got there and got completed in time yeah there's that so part of me thinks that for whatever he might not have in terms of processing speed of that Jordan had when it comes to seeing this offense and again Jordan had been in it for years and it's not fair to compare DJ to Jordan in that aspect there might be certain physical you know advantages DJ has that might be able to kind of offset some things that he doesn't have that Jordan had so that's you know maybe something that can help out for the season by the way does DJ count as a physical transformation because I thought he looked noticeably uh I don't want to say skinnier fitter like more I don't know like more in shape like trimmer and not skinny because he's certainly not a skinny dude he's still 250 pounds but he looked like you know a little more athletic in in in I don't again skinnier is not the right word thinner than he did uh than he did uh in the in the spring and another thing real quick when it comes to the offensive line something we can't know yet is we do expect the running game to be better it has to be better it just has to be it can't be the same running game as last year or they are going to struggle on offense mightily at times but I do think the running game will be better but we don't know that yet because they're not in pads um NSB is back as we asked him to was Cam Davis the how' Cam Davis look Cory he's out there he's big he's enormous he is a huge human being he's got muscles everywhere um and he looks fast and physical but again no no pads um but he was out there knives and maai Dany uh who again was a late androl lead that's what I'm going to start calling him aslon early enroles are just enroles at this point if you're here in January that's when you're supposed to be as a freshman if you get here in the summer I'm going to call you a lateen rolly uh maai Dany was a lateen Rolle um but he was a he was one of the four working at punt returner along with uh Jaylen Lucas who else was it Malik Benson and lne McCoy K I thought Kai Bates was out there doing punts no those those four are the ones I saw and master mono hit some bombs he hit the last one he hit Aon it was a lot he M like he could do so much with the ball it's crazy like if he wants to kick it to the moon he can but he kicked one that went it was a line drive that went over Jaylen Lucas's head and came to rest at the two yard line it was a 68 yard punt that checked up at the two as a line drive like a I don't know man like a an eight iron and then he also kicked one 65 yards that just went straight high in the it's just that's that's a that's a nice luxury to have a guy like that I almost feel hypocritical doubling back to the question about what gives you like hope that or hope that they'll be better than nine and three or 10 and two I still think like 10 and two is probably where they'll be at which will be good enough to get you to Charlotte probably and then win that game and you know you might have a buy probably will have a buy but I mean you lost Fisk you lost love it you lost verse um but and you lost Renardo green you lost Jaren you lost Tatum you lost kin I still feel really good about the defense um I might have thought that the defense was G to take a step back it might now just be whatever is between like a something not obviously a strike because that's more than a step Cory but baby steps as you would would would like likely refer to these uh magnitude of these things I feel really good about the secondary like I didn't I get didn't get to watch a lot of what they were doing but I just think about AAR and you guys talked about how well fent looked today and in the spring he looked like a different dude in the spring and I thought he carried that over to today yeah huge shahim brown guy over here really really confident about what he can possibly be and you think about farmer darl Jackson there was a play where Daryl Jackson just absolutely like just bullied himself across the line Patrick pton did the same thing you know CA lolaa obviously in the mix one of the latest members of the battle Zen so that's another part of me that that feels good about things that that Georgia Tech game might get a little hairy Manny Diaz was at ACC kickoff today and was kind of like trumpeting up the entire conference talking about when he was at Penn State you know he doesn't think they saw any teams like NC State uh he thinks if you put on the film and you look at Georgia Tech taken on Georgia last year that was a real legitimate offense and Bar's concerned about that because they've got their leading receivers like plural back they've got their leading rusher back they've got their quarterback back their head coach is an offensive line coach by trade you're like this this could be a game that might you know might be you know 30s might be the the winning score in that game but I'm just feel like Florida State's defense is probably going to be able to hold a team like that under 30 and you know this a offense met for Playmakers so hopefully they can they can outscore a team like that but I just I think the defense is what's going to carry me mostly throughout this preseason camp until we see maybe this offense being nearly as productive as last year's offense yeah I mean I I agree I I think you you ripped off all those names of people that left and you're like Yeah man they they lost a lot of talent but there aren't many teams that have a Daryl Jackson and a Josh farmer and a Patrick pton and a Marvin Jones and then the back end you have Earl little who wasn't even mentioned cyp I think Cy I think aaria could be a potential first round pick I think Cypress is an NFL corner I think shahe is an NFL player Earl little might be um so quindarius keeps making strides as as maybe probably the third quarterback um Kevin nolles the guy we don't ever talk about but they mentioned him again as a leader and he's a veteran like you just have Duke Cooper was back by the way oh Cooper out there making plays made a really nice play on jaai uh in one-on ones um so you have a lot of experience and some real talent where again I'm not comparing this stretch that they're in now to the dynasty years uh the the college football landscape has changed so much but you know in 1996 they just lost this guy and that guy and that guy and then it's like oh well there still great it's still a great team because it's Florida State I don't know that you would necessarily say they've replaced verse and fist because those are great players that are NFL first round or second round picks but man they've got a lot of depth up front they're they should have the best defensive line of anybody they on the Fe you know that they share a field with and I think their secondary is going to be one of the best in the country if it stays healthy and Cypress continues to play like this um so that's that's what gives you hope is like yeah and then next year they'll they'll reload again like they're maybe they're in a position now where Geor like Georgia where Georgia can lose all these dudes and it's like okay yeah they're still the overwhelming number one team in the country they have all these other guys that are going to be in the league in a couple years maybe Florida state is there now because all those names you mentioned on the defensive line and in the secondary all have a chance to play in the NFL I mean and they just lost all those guys you mentioned that are in NFL camps right now so that's a cool place to be the defense will be the strength of this team I think uh but yeah Georgia Tech is uh you know that's not an that's not an easy opener man that's like a 10 or 12 point spread for a reason that that offense is legit that's he Manny Diaz wasn't wrong Georgia Tech did give Georgia some real problems in that game uh what's never going to give you any problems are the fine friendly faces over the corner pocket Barn Grill 2475 appalache Parkway daily lunch specials from 11 a.m. to 3 pm. go check it out but look at all these other great things you get the corner pocket bar and gr AI crusted 2 and0 what bacon wrapped shrimp what Cory now a big fan of the uh the freshly cooked potato chips which are part of the side dish offerings when you get your lunch special only $88.99 best pretzel the pretzel is great the pretzel is great too by the way I just want to shout that out that pretzel is legit okay and as Corey says anything you like Burger wise sandwich wise can also be made into a wrap or is that just for you Corey no that's for everyone they don't that's not just ask for the Corey special I want this sandwich into a r Corner Pocket Barn girl 2475 appalachi Parkway will it also be the the home of Friday happy hours with Cory Clarke and Jeff Cameron this coming season that is absolutely the plan uh we would like I was talking to bill the other night maybe we'll bring the show back it's just it was hard for people to hear so that was always bothered me but yes we will be there in some capacity and then live music this weekend I think on Friday night a band called Temple of the cat yeah not Temple of the Dog which was Eddie veteran sound garden but Temple of the cat I believe will be there Friday night could be Saturday night but I think it's Friday night hey true story you know oh shoot I've goofed it up I think so our friend who runs the Anytime Fitness in Midtown here in Tallahassee go check them out at Anytime Fitness what where's hey I want a free membership now come on I thought you work out at that one I do that's what I'm saying I want to stop paying we just got an advert we adverti for him um his I think his father-in-law somebody his family is the lead singer of the of Tom and the cats oh okay all right all right okay that's cool small is that what it's called Tom they're called Tom and the cats is that right I don't know the band that's always playing a corner pocket bar I think that's right and then they have another band now that's called Temple of the cat so lot of Cat theme uh a corner pocket very feline friendly we're going to go probably about 10 more minutes or so we started late but you know we got to be up in the morning again I'm just kidding we we'll take it to an hour or so a Spartan all our guy out there in Hawaii which is like what like 2 o'clock in Hawaii right now probably shout out to our guy Ralph guys how's it uh will the offense be killer enough so they don't have to play key starters against teams that they should destroy we'll see Ralph I I don't know it's hard to know after one day I I again I feel like last year again we've talked about that offense and all those players that are now in the league you know Jordan Trav was playing most fourth quarters it felt like maybe wakey didn't um but all the other games I feel like they were all they were all playing in the fourth quarter and I don't expect I just don't think at this point in time it feel that might happen at like three games but every other game it's like you know the NFL doesn't play their backup quarterbacks a lot like they're they're in games in the fourth quarter and I just feel like the way this team is constructed and the way college football is now expect that your starters are going to have to play your your starters will have to be on the field um in the fourth quarter because it's going to be a one- score game either way like I I look at that I I don't maybe cal um but at SMU ain't a gimme Memphis certainly isn't a gimme that was a 10- win team Boston College as we found out last year is in a gimme and that kid's gonna be fresh um you look at that schedule yeah man I don't I don't I don't see any teams on that schedule other than Charleston Southern and maybe Cal where you'd say Florida State should destroy them right correct it's a tough schedule man correct and the Gators beat them by five touchdowns Ricky New York live it's very flamboyant name what wi receiver stood out to you Corey um today it was uh who was it today Elijah Moore had a nice day it's good to see him uh play like that but I again I just go back to um uh Lan McCoy The Real McCoy I say um I I think that uh I'm gonna I'm gonna patent that by the way the Real McCoy it's pretty good right Aon absolutely um I just the way he moves man makes me think that he's gonna play he could play a lot even as a freshman okay I like it did he go to I think he's I think he went to Miami Central I should double check that I just I'll never bet against a kid from Miami Central not being instantly an impact player you know what was interesting and I didn't really delve into it but Patrick pton said he had heard uh he had heard of lne McCoy like years ago he said he was famous who heard who heard of him Patrick pyton he's like oh yeah because he Patrick Payton's like kind of Taken weirdly not weirdly I guess they're both from Miami but they play different positions he said he's kind of he sees a lot of himself and lne McCoy and it feels like he's kind of taking lne McCoy under his wing even though they play different positions and he said he's like oh yeah I knew about McCoy for years he's F he was famous and I'm like I is that from Instagram or something like I don't I feel like the oldest man in the world because I have no idea why Patrick pton would have heard of lne mcco or maybe it was just a really big deal in South Florida he was doing all this stuff in South Florida for years but Patrick Payton said he was well known um well before he got to Florida State like DJ Matthews I think was famous like in Jacksonville like people who played ball and Jacksonville knew about him so I I can see it happening the uh Optimus club or whatever they call I feel like they oh yeah yeah yeah generate from a young age you can start creating kind of a uh um reputation our Matt L's out here oh okay good there we go is that had a touchdown dance that went viral all right good so I told you I was old I have no idea what does viral mean I'm just kidding I'm not that old folks I do know what that means um let me see if I can pull it up real quick his dance I was about to pull it up but I think it's it's hosted on a Miami website so I don't want to pull that up um well let's see who this guy is the screens isn't up right now is it all right good I don't want to pull it up here who's this guy Anthony and another Miami guy well we'll just take your word for it Matt sure it's a beautiful thing uh speaking of beautiful ah Ed lmix is here everybody look at this guy look at this guy it's been a long time that we've heard from our guy out there in Pensacola Beach but uh let's give him some music speci occasion The Godfather himself has been kind enough to Grace us with his presence The Godfather this is his damn house he lives here he Steeps 20 ft away I just haven't played that in too long shout out to Ed DeLuna coffee everybody you're aware of them I think they're the postgame show sponsor still oh good I hope I hope I don't see any of that money though but it's all right kidding uh Ed's here everybody 50 bucks in the jar appreciate you hey War Chan family had a bad week this week oh I probably should have read this before I popped it up on the screen and had I didn't want to say anything but we're already too far gone let's read it um all right well our guy had uh his wife Courtney had a uh medical emergency well we could read it he posted it he she had a stroke on Saturday and uh was in the hospital for a week and now she's in rehab and doing great walking again all right Courtney is a very sweet woman we've met her multiple times as we've met Ed and we are absolutely sending the best to both you guys and we hate to hear that Ed um we'll carry her uh in Dublin if you guys make it out there I'll push the wheelchair or something if we need to uh we'll make it work team work makes a dream work thanks Ed uh telor we're thinking about it sending Good Vibes um and hopefully the doctors are doing their thing and um all will be well sooner than later man appreciate it Strokes are scary man they just yeah buddy they're just like they just come out they they just come out of nowhere Corey Bates is back and he's dropping even more money in the jar Cory you don't have to do that all the time but we appreciate it nonetheless we do appreciate it Corey dollar dollar bills y'all who won the first pre-practice race of 2024 did you film it aslon I did but I was I was at the wrong end zone because I want to they're doing all this construction now so we can only get in and out on one side of the field and we have limited time to film so I want to be closest to that one so they they were running at the one farther away from me so all that to say there was a bunch of traffic blocking my my vantage point maybe check the video but there was there's like eight guys racing him man y'all got y'all need to chill out man it's out of control and quendarius Jones was one of them it's like come on Q you're a de you're a 20-year-old Florida State defensive back we know you can beat the 40-year old um it looked to me like it was Daryl Jackson and no I don't think farmer was in it Payton's always there pton always beats him I think he beat farmer though he got a really late start but I think he not farmer I think he caught up and beat uh darl Jackson but Daryl Jackson was racing with him quind Darius Jones is gonna win every time he races if he chooses to I'd like to see jayen Lucas do it honestly I'd like to see Jaylen Lucas and McKai Dany um in that race to just see who wins that shout out to our guy Matt lasair texting me a a Tik Tok link as if I have a Tik Tok login to be able to show it to you you used to be able to watch like one or two Tik toks before it tell you you need to download the app um but no longer I'll see if maybe I can forward it to myself got to email me these things next time man um see if I can maybe email to myself and pull on the screen before we leave but yeah uh it's crazy when you think about it he he he played division one football Mike norell and he was a wide receiver and it wasn't that that long ago but 6 foot5 250 pound Patrick Payton still has like a step on him that's yeah scary and Mike Rell is in very good shape too for a whatever 41-year-old football coach um but yeah Patrick pyton is very fast that's how we knew that uh Bradon Fisk was the athlete he was because he was beating or at least staying with norell in those races uh last spring all right uh while we wait for few more questions to trickle in through here Corey um let me see if there's anything worth my um the observation I sent you in Ira I lamented the fact that you guys didn't pull anything up uh in your story that I sent over but it's fine it was oh I didn't see that till I'd already posted it buddy my bad I'm sorry no ask my I don't care I don't care about your observations clearly clear that goes without saying um Jacob Rizzy feel like phone booth solid solid okay you know getting to the second level might be a little bit of an acclamation learning curve for him but man he's he's physically well put together and I was talking to my buddy who actually played offensive line he's like are you sure he never played any Center that's a really awkward transition to go from tackle to Center and all the PFF data that we saw on him was all tackle at haror like one year was right tackle next was left uh tackle but he's playing Center which I think we can say we just can't tell you where he is like on the depth chart but he's playing Center so I didn't even notice that he did that all right hey so if we get in trouble ason you did it not me but yeah I don't I don't know I like uh volunteered to watch the trenches in Tom's absence was the fact that you're always watching seven on seven so when we come we do you know our post practice podcasts it's just us reaffirming one another like hey lne McCoy had an awesome that's right had a really nice touchdown so trying to I like the ying and the Yang I really do I like you watching the the trenches and it's going to get more important and more um you know I don't know detailed once uh they put on the pads and start hitting each other which I guess will be what Aon will that be Sunday because they don't practice Saturday they practice they started Wednesday they go Wednesday Thursday Friday Saturday is off and then they practice again Sunday I'm like 85% sure last year they did the same thing I'm like oh they're going to do three days they're going to take a day off and then when they come back they'll be in pads but then they end up actually being in pads before their day off I think they have two acclamation days okay and then shells are good like shells you're still popping shell I mean that's all you kind of really need for practices because they're not tackling each other in these practices so the shells you still see the pop and you still see the physicality just they were literally in shorts and helmets today with no pads and there's just not as much uh grinding are we done let's just I don't like I don't like rewarding bad behavior people that asked the the questions four times like I didn't see it oh Garrett's a good guy he's always here so he asked earlier and Then followed up what coaches stood out on day one there's a there's a lot of coaches out there now it didn't feel like there's an overwhelming amount of coaches versus last year but Alex Atkins go check out the the practice foot yeah he was he was salty yeah that's what he is he's set to salty when he's on a practice field um yeah I mean he always stands out norell is it was funny we were uh we were probably 11 minutes into the practice we had gone up to the baseball field for like period five and they were doing something and then finally you heard Norvell screamed hurry up like he always and Jeff Cameron was like there it is I knew that was I was been waiting to hear that it had been four months since we heard that that's that's the default setting that norbel is at is is is screaming at the guys to hurry up all right I failed everybody I tried to pull it up what but it uh it has like three popups and I close each pop up popup and now it says I have to log in but you know what here's the thing lne McCoy you're going to be a lot more famous for than whatever this stupid viral touchdown dance is my man you're going to be doing things in Ireland you're going to be doing things in the Orange Bowl in a playoff game that people are this is going to be an afterthought this won't even be the documentary they make about you well maybe it will be but still it'll be at the end credits this isn't going to be a part of your story the story is going to how you're going to be the next great Florida State wide receiver well said all right we did an hour that's solid we're gonna do another one of these tomorrow but subbers over on warchant.com and we'll do deep dives into their question good because we appreciate their patronage as much as we almost appreciate your Patron for being here and hanging out for an hour watching us but for $1 you can be part of that club and get two months of access to warchant.com you can read all of Cory's observations he didn't give them all to you and like you also had to keep your eye on the kid and dinner's going on and there's something on the TV you can read it anytime you want right there when you're subscribed to warchant.com that's my sales pitch Corey good job good job so we'll be back out of practice tomorrow and then Monday's show will actually have observations from Friday's practice and Sunday and Sunday's practice they have Friday and Sunday yeah we're back man we did it we're back thanks for watching everybody go check out vitamin energy vitamin energy.com promo code warchamp BOGO thanks again for watching shout out to our great friends Corey Bates Ed lemix he also provided more updates
