Father Daughter Duo Lenny & Zoë Kravitz

[Applause] I'm Lenny how you doing I'm good how are you excellent I haven't seen you in a long long time and you haven't been on the show for like five years it's too long I've been you've been gone too long I've been hiding out where are you hiding where are you staying actually well actually I spent about 3 years touring Europe mhm Russia Europe South America did that and then I've been in the Bahamas where I have my studio where my family's from uh-huh working on my next album that'll be out in the fall hurry up I miss your albums I up and you're so good in this movie Am I Wrong is this your first acting piece at all yes really first one why this why have you wanted to do it before I've always wanted to do it and I started out as an actor when I was a teenager but uh you know I I I knew I wanted to do music and I put blinders on and I went for that and I never looked back and then I started getting offered these roles because I was Lenny Kravitz and it was always a very stereotypical role and something that I didn't think was very interesting so I never took him but then I met Lee Daniels and uh he had this role and it was the right time and I I trusted him MH yeah and so gabet has been here before c Bay who plays Precious she is amazing she's really never acted before like you right and all of a sudden y'all are in this Oscar nominated film and uh did she she must have died like this girl who's not ever been in a film before acted in any way is suddenly getting kissed by Lenny Kravitz she must have loved that she I think she enjoyed it because uh she uh I saw her on TV saying that she purposely kept messing up her line so I would have to kiss her and um I had to find that out on television you just thought she was not remembering her lines um I know that you're a Twitter you you Twitter and uh tweet TW twet you tweet and you're on Twitter and uh now I have not personally shared a lot of uh of body parts of mine on Twitter um because I don't think it's it's people want to see my body parts but there was true there was a well there was a tweet all right I'll start doing it um there was a tweet that did you send this out or did someone else send this out let's show people cuz this what what you're this who did that um what's happening there what's happening well I'm I I'm I'm in Europe somewhere on tour this past summer what kind of tour were you doing what's his and uh strip clubs I see uh and I was getting ready for the show and I had this guy who follows me around the camera and I said well whatever you get you can put up mhm mhm so whatever you see me doing and he came in saw me doing that uhhuh well you're going to get more followers after this you're going to a lot more people are my numbers did go up somehow yeah I bet I bet and uh let's talk about your daughter uh she is Zoe right how old is she 21 21 and you've basically pretty much she's been living with you from the time she was 11 until so you've raised her as a single dad and and is that does that affect your dating life in in any way it makes it kind of impossible uh-huh yeah does she is she critical of the women that you want to date or does she have opinions extremely critical yeah I thought I was the dad and I had to like screen the boyfriends but it's kind of the other way around uhhuh yeah but that's kind of good though right it's really good except here I sit with no one yeah well then we have to find you a great girl let's find you a great girl okay I'll work on it cuz you should cuz you should be with somebody I should yeah all right I'll work on that um this is your first time here not crazy we've run into each other places and said hello but trying to get in forever don't know why I it's not my fault I'm so sorry talk you're here now and that's all that matters you're so great on big little eyes oh thank you you're so great thanks now does that mean it's not coming back because you have another show or no I we don't I don't know the answer people keep on asking me and I don't I I hope so would you be able to do both shows yeah I think so good well good for you to have two shows going that's and then you got nominated for a sag award for Ensemble right that's great that'll be fun to see everybody um it but it's such a great show and and I'm excited that I'm going to see you in something else now too thank you so your dad Lenny Kravitz has been here many times um that's he gets the invite I don't know what's going on he could have brought you along I know what what's that like to say your dad is Lenny krabit um oh my God this I mean how cool is cool he's cool I mean I love him for different reasons you know he's just he's a really good father and a good person and a good artist yeah um and it also loves a netted shirt yeah and tiny little low pants yeah like that's normal that's like what everyone's dad like right everyone's dad looks like that totally normal you you probably because you don't know any different you probably just that was just your dad like right yeah I mean I didn't really realize there was a difference until he started picking me up from school and I looked at other people's dads and looked at my dads and I was like okay yeah I got that Dad that's different D um and you just got married congratulations the wedding looks beautiful thank you I mean it special really beautiful all right so uh you went on stage with your Dad recently I have you done that before no he he always kind of asked me to do it and I was always I just get I get nervous um but my my mother used to play wait you get nervous I get nervous I'm nervous right now Steve Harvey just told me going to take a deep breath back um but aren't you in a band I I'm not in a band anymore but I've I've I've performed before and I just I just get stage fried you still get stage fried anyway all right so you went on stage and you played tambourine I did so my mother used to play tambourine when he would play the song let love Rule and so he said well you do that like your mother used to and I it made me pretty emotional actually so I did it that's so Co I was nervous but I did it and where was that that was um that was in New York that was in New York I forget what venue but oh my God that is cool yeah all right so the Golden Globes uh were weeks ago and um congratulations on your award than you were great thank you and uh you you went on stage with your stepdad yes apparently all I do is get on stages with my dad or step my dad fig Jason Mamoa who is also a cool stepdad is he's the sweetest guy in the world is he's just he's so sweet I know gentle giant but he went uh it it went people went crazy because he took his shirt off at the table I know which is funny because so he did the same thing at our wedding where he had a tank top under the you know under the jacket and but as you can see in the photo my mother was cold which is why he took his jacket off so I thought that was pretty sweet actually that is sweet and thoughtful for everyone in the room to look at that too he's a sweet thoughtful man just a sweet thoughtful guy with you know large large arms with just large large arms all right High Fidelity what is this about So High Fidelity it's based off a book written by Nick Hornby um about a person that owns a record store and um she's going through a breakup and she wants to understand why all her breakups end in disaster so she goes back to her top five break heartbreaks and um tries to figure out what went wrong in her relationships um all right and this is very exciting I I just found this out today I don't know if I if if I everyone else knows this but you're about to start uh filming you're going to be in the Batman movie and you are Catwoman wow yeah nervous I was actually I was sitting at the at the Globes with David Kelly because he you know writes our show in Michelle feifer and I was bowing to the queen um nervous to be in her in her presence now and you're flying out tonight to London to start right have you had a costume fitting yet we've had many it's going it's going really well it's very exciting and I've been training a ton too which has been great and hard and I bet it's very physical very physical I come home just limping every day it's very it's actually pathetic but that's I'm so excited so you're leaving tonight to start and and I can't wait to see that that's great congratulations High Fidelity premieres February 14th on Hulu we'll be right back hello Lenny I know you just finished your good Musicians uh I've been watching him for a long time now and I'm sure he'll end up on the road uh with me at some point yeah you have you have people come on stage with you absolutely yeah it's very cool for them yeah yeah and it's beautiful for me yeah I'm I'm sure so your daughter Zoe just got married yes she did how was that for you surreal it was it was the most beautiful wedding I've ever been to I love her husband Carl Glusman he's a wonderful man we have a an amazing relationship uh outside of you know my daughter Y and uh it was it was beautiful we had it at our house in Paris that's great that it looked beautiful I saw some pictures she she's really really beautiful oh thank you thank you and a good person you're you're and you're a good and she must like imagine having him as a dad like that's your dad Lenny Kravitz is your dad very cool so let's talk about the Bahamas I know you have a home there and uh it is devastating what's happened there and I want to hear your thoughts on what we can do what you're doing well as you know the the two islands I got severely hit and Freeport um it's devastating uh I have a lot of people on the ground there um look at that that yeah I mean it's like a nuclear bomb went off and uh you know what I'm really concerned with uh are the locals the heart and the soul of these islands are the locals the people of the Bahamas uh I feel bad for the rich folks that lost their places but they'll be able to rebuild right but it's about these people that uh don't have the means to rebuild so we're all you know in meetings and figuring out what to do uh to get these homes back to these people and it's going to be a long process stage one is right now was about uh rescue clean up feeding people there's still two uh great organizations that you can donate to uh Jose Andreas his world Central Kitchen is still feeding he's amazing he is he goes wherever he's incredible he gets in he gets in what's what's amazing about him is he he goes in with no plan when we talked about Puerto Rico he's like I just went I just go and we figure it out when we get there and he's he's so talented so he's still feeding displaced people thou you know tens of thousands of people and there's an organization core who uh have gone in to uh you know clean up uh have to uh demolish things and clean up move things around and also build shelter um so those are two good places to start but more will be following this is going to be uh a several year project and and also I have to say I donated to the SPCA they went and there was so many animals that needed homes and there were people that went in there and rescued than for that we spoke during that time and I really appreciate concern well because you know these people have lost their home so so did so did everything that's that they had abolutely um but I I know the viewers can go to our website to to find out these two organizations to donate to um and then you are setting up a dental clinic there that is I mean this is crazy that there was no dental clinic there it's uh it's something that just happened I'm very good friends with my dentist he came down to visit I I am uh uh well you have beautiful teeth well thank you he's taking thank you Dr LaVine in New York City uh and so he came down to visit I was talking about my friends that were having all of this all these problems in their mouths and infections and and pain and so forth and we uh went through the town because I wanted to prove to him that this was going on at at this severe level uh we took my jeep through the town we started to uh examine people on the hood of my Jeep next thing you know we uh were down there with uh you know 40 of the best dentists from New York City from Dr lavine's office wow um and uh this will be our fifth year now we've also created a toothpaste I've uh myself and his two sons have created a toothpaste called twice which is about brushing twice a day it's healthy toothpaste that works and uh it's the best toothpaste uh there is right now absolutely fantastic and uh starting starting now for this month 25% of sales will be going to the Bahamas and we're going to do our fifth uh mission in December good for you all right well I love what you're doing Shutterfly loves what you're doing and they want to help support building communities like this
