[Music] so I'm just fooling around with this right now I don't actually know how it's going to go and uh I'm just noodling you know I mean I don't even really know how to play piano so I'm not going to play you that part I'll just it goes something like oh Larry well you came and you dropped off my laundry but I sent you way oh Larry I don't like creases in my jeans and I hate them so much oh Larry and then it would be like a Larry okay it's really great you like it yeah I mean I could hold the note longer if it's okay okay well good so you'll consider thank you thank you thanks thank you appreciate it uh back at each and every one of you um I I guess recently they ran my uh my HBO special again and uh so someone came up to me uh and said hey uh I love the HBO special and what I love is you're so clean and and I thought um well yes I wash um no they weren't referring to my hygiene I don't curse and in either you know on HBO you're allowed to curse you're allowed to do whatever you want but I don't ever curse although I want to emphasize that my skin was spotless but um I try not to curse cuz you know and it's not like I don't curse I want to because people say God you're so clean and it's not like I really I do curse if like if I hit my thumb with a hammer or something I'm definitely going to curse I mean damn straight I'm going to curse and then but generally I keep everything G-rated I I and some people I find won't curse ever ever No matter what they just grin and Barr they'd hit their thumb with a hammer and then just go I think my headache's gone now and and how do you not curse you know you're hurting some people will use other words other than cursing they'll say things like cheese and crackers you know which that just makes me hungry if I say something like that I picture a nice plate of cheese and crackers in front of me and washing it down with a penio dang that sounds good right now some people won't curse they'll say other things like uh like a oh what in the Sam Hill was that you know which is actually what Sam Hill means is h e double hockey sticks which also spelling doesn't help spelling or if you whisper something you know you're still c u r s i n g I don't know why they think that that uh that somehow we don't think you're cursing if you do that or if people take the first letter and then they add an ing to it they add an ing I mean that's not clever everybody knows what your essing you know or if somebody puts an A in front of anything I guarantee you it's not a compliment don't let them think it is I want to go back to the old school expressions like I want to bring back expressions like rats and nuts you don't use them together but I I think that are you listening Colin Farrell Colin Farrell he swears Colin frell it's hard for him to get through a sentence without swearing I mean the occasional swear word has its place sometimes you really need it to to emphasize something but not on TV Colin was on and and just curs seeing up a storm you you you know but you can't get mad at him cuz he's so bleeping cute he really is but we had to find him every single time and he it went to a good cause it went to charity but you can't you can't swear on television the FCC which I don't know what that stands for but I'm pretty sure it's something dirty the FCC they get mad so I I don't know I just don't curse but in her it is getting hot in her oh man how about that uh I was just uh back there talking to Barry Manalo who's on the show right now I'm a falow oh he's legendary he's a Grammy winner he's an Emmy winner he's a Tony winner he's a winner he's uh he's got new CD it's a long title it's scores songs from Copa Cabana and Harmony that's too long I'm going to talk to him about that people would just buy it if it just says Manalo he doesn't need anything more he's about to start a year-long show in Las Vegas next month and uh yeah I bet that'll be great but when the thing is you go to see it you want people to talk about it because what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas so all I know and this uh is he makes the young girls cry he writes those songs also on the show Maria Bellow she's here she's in a new movie on tues 13 I think it opened yesterday you may remember she was in a Coyote Ugly and uh she spent a year on ER and uh she was a Golden Glow nominee for her role in the cooler she was very very cool in that and I'll tell you she was cool but she wasn't cold there's there's a difference between being cool and cold and and everybody in the country it's so hard for us to realize that because we're in it's so hot here today in Los Angeles it's really really hot but the weather around the country is just it people are freezing I mean I looked at this USA Today the the you can't even believe look at this there's the there's yellow and then there's like green and blue can you imagine the blue it's 54 degrees below zero today in embarrassed Minnesota I 54 Below and and their cheeks are red not cuz they're embarrassed it's because they're freezing to death those people are embarrassed I mean I and I want to know what it feels like I want to not to be embarrassed but to to be that cold I want to know what that feels like so later in the show I'm going to call somebody from Minnesota I got a phone book and I'm going to call somebody I don't know who it's going to be a cold call and um someone tells me they'll be home cuz a lot of people are our home now because it's freezing around the country and we can't relate because it's so hot so I I've been asking everybody to send in pictures or video tape showing us How cold are you that's a new segment I thought I'd start as How cold are you and uh so if we like it we're going to air it and we actually got something recently and uh so let's show you our clip of the day [Music] all right so we got this one uh this letter Jeffrey Alvarez in Berkeley Massachusetts it's 28 degrees there and he sent this in here's Jeff having fun it's 28° outside coming out of 100° hot tub into some nice fresh CH snow the body away go for it woohoo we love in masss so I don't know what oh I don't know we can send Jeff but maybe we can send the neighbors a higher fence I think that's all um keep sending in your uh How cold are you take some photos we'll share your pain uh because we're here for you but more importantly we're here um another segment that I a segment I'm really excited about is called who's your hero cuz we want to know about the people who quietly do great things for others and we want to recognize him and hopefully Inspire other people to do the same thing so go to our website and click on who's your hero and tell us about somebody that's really special and uh because there're a lot of Heroes out there and we want to reward them I'll tell you one of my heroes is uh my PA hon or maybe I'm his I don't know but uh anyway we we have hon for Valentine's Day we want him to provide a service for you we want him to do whatever you want send us an idea of of something that he can do for someone you love and so we've already we've asked a few times we' we've started getting some requests and uh it's interesting the things that they want houseon to do um this is Lisa Whitaker from Las Vegas Nevada dear Ellen I'm a huge fan I wash your W she doesn't wash it I watch your show every day I don't have a valentine I'm with my son every day and my animals and I've not had a chance in two years to go anywhere I'm an exotic animal trainer I would love to feel great for one instead of picking up food and toys all day long can HST come to our house and babysit for a mother that needs a huge break on Valentine's Day sincerely Lisa Whitaker lost Vegas Nevada um well here she is she sent in a picture um you know they say there's nothing more fun than a barrel of monkeys although monkeys without a barrel looks kind of difficult she's um she looks like she's wearing a monkey coat doesn't she that's like she looks more frightened than the monkeys actually the monkeys the monkeys are calm and she's just I don't think she's ever held them before this all right then we get uh Laura Moody from Bartlett Tennessee uh Ellen my 80-year-old grandmother Ellen maowen is a fabulous person I know she would have loved to have gotten to study art or sculpture at various workshops around the country and around the globe but instead she gave her life to take taking care of her family because of this though she has a talent she's never become famous as a sculptor although she did become a hero to me I think it would be a Big Thrill for HST to model for her if that isn't a show I don't know what is thanks so much for making me laugh Laura Moody all right um this is her uh oh did you already see her um she's uh and if you would if you we would send this is sort of what it would look like probably just like that put that in the garden and scare away the crows it's actually scaring me right right now um I didn't want to do a cron noise cuz I didn't want to scare Tony all right this one very simple sometimes people we have to edit them down because they're long complicated letters and sometimes they just get right to the point and don't really have time to waste Wendy e Jacob from cila Washington this is all we got dress up like a ladybug and sing I Will Always Love You from Whitney Houston um it sounds very vague but it really did go into the pile of house and do it for someone you love so uh let's take a look at Wendy and her family that's them all huddled together looked like they were caught off guard I don't know if they were actually posing for that or not uh I'll tell you if I had a nickel for every time someone asked uh to see house and dress up like a ladybug and sing that Whitney Houston song I would I would have a nickel um all right keep the house and request coming in go to our website remember ask and you shall receive as a matter of fact by the end of today's you doing for a year well I don't know how many a year but I do five a week and then but but with you know chunks off chunks of time off so it's not like you know constant singing for like two years in a row or something it's time off to so five a week and then you have a weekend off it's things like that so five a week and then time off and then five a week it's a good salary I I read and I just said this up it's a it's a $60 million Sal I read that too I read that too I don't think that's true but does anybody know how much I'm making am I making any money for this I yeah look I listen if I thought for one minute that I was paying any member of my band more than $150 a week I would be very upset that that's when I stopped uh thinking about money really yeah back in those days yeah yeah so I really don't ask those questions you don't ask those questions you should I should cuz now somebody's going to skim a little off the top going he doesn't know he's making 60 million he's going to make 20 million now I don't now it doesn't I don't do it for that and being in Vegas are you going to be tempted to play poker really I no I don't I don't I don't know how to do anything that can't be true I I don't do anything ex I don't but make music I know how to do that do you play tennis do what do you mean you don't do anything I I don't do anything you just play music I just make music yeah all day long yeah I you you must realize I come from Brooklyn New York and where I grew up Brooklyn in the house they didn't teach us how to play tennis they didn't teach us how to play tennis if you saw somebody with a tennis club walking in Brooklyn New York you knew they stole it and they were going to hit you over their head with it well first of all I can tell you don't play cuz it's not called a tennis club a tennis racket or it's a ret what do you mean a tennis club that's what they would call it in brookly I'm sorry sorry I'm a I'm a I'm a I'm I'm a I'm a musician and are you you are a musician I mean it is it's crazy because you started out we talked about this last time you were here with with Jingles you did you did a lot of commercials and I did and uh some there was some there was there was some you know which I I remember playing here for you Band-Aid Band-Aid yeah you sang it very well I must say and yeah and then the the State Farm Insurance commercial which they still play you know my State Farm is there and um and then there were some low points like what like um the toilet bowl Blues but this was the act of a desperate young man you know how could I say no to that and then the you wrote that I did how' it go I've got the toilet bowl Blues you don't really you don't you don't want to and and then uh there was the stridex pimple cream commercial that wasn't too bad you know it wasn't too bad then they asked me to write a a douche commercial which I I but I I I said no I really there's just so far you can think you know who sits down with a pad in a pen and tries to write us anyway nothing rhymes with douche so I'm telling you by the end of the show I'll have something I'll find something oh so so you said no to that no matter how desperate yeah I couldn't I couldn't do what it's disposable I don't know what you but look at you now all all you you you come from that like you said from Brooklyn you write Jingles you write all these hit songs that are I mean they really are they go on forever Copa Cabana it's a miracle Mandy can't smile without you could it be magic weekend in New England I write the songs day break looks like we made it ready to take a chance again and now you have conventions you have your your falow I'm not sure that it's a cute name I'm not sure they like being called FAL but they really I'm not sure I'm not sure but um I won't call them that anymore I'm not I'm not sure but but they're wonderful they're wonderful people they've been supporting me for since I started with Mandy and sometimes they gather together to to celebrate my personage and um which they're doing yeah and and which they do and which they do now and again and sometimes I actually show up and we shake hands and I talk to them and we and they're great they're all great people yeah but then they dress they they they dress in certain ways and they it's a big huge thing yeah it's it is I I I it's it's a big yes there's a lot of Lolas out there yes there's a lot of Lolas with yellow feathers in their hair uhhuh yes wow that's the one thing they're holding on to there could have been another song and yet that's what they hold on to and wear the yellow feathers in their ha that's right they were just looking for somebody to sing a song about that people that just wanted to wear feathers at some point here I was and then you come along they like thank God all right well when we come back we actually gave everyone in the audience a a poll what are we going to do it now all right I will if you say so we gave everybody in the audience uh questions about you and and uh whoever got all the answers right was going to win a prize a really great prize but 10 people people got every single question right and they were hard questions I mean they were like so 10 of you and so I'm going to let you pick it and whoever wins whatever name you're reading you're going to get two tickets to the concert in Las Vegas two night stay at the Las Vegas Hilton and a $100 gift certificate uh to to the Barry store before you can I like what kind of questions did you ask like well hard ones I think um how many CDs uh do you have and it 10 people knew how many CDs 43 CDs which is incredible um and uh which is the one award you've not won in the Academy Award uh it's a travesty and uh who did Barry uh get his start singing backup for bet Midler I knew that one um play playing backup actually which commercial jingle did uh playing yes not not singing singing I do did did a couple Bo behind and then uh who what commercial jingle did you not write and the and it was for Burger King that's true yeah I didn't write the Burger King 10 people knew every single one of those that's really that's amazing yeah some people are realizing now what they got wrong they're like a I told you we can be in Vegas all right so I'm picking the yeah you're going to pick the name okay here I got the name and the name is uh it's Christopher Terry from Orlando Florida chistopher car look at that that's great when we come back I'll be calling the coldest city in the country don't go away welcome back I'm sure you all know how cold it is in the rest of the country I showed you on USA Today it's 54 Below Zero in embarrass Minnesota which is uh right around here right there and uh it's the coldest place in the country we tried to get some footage we called our affiliate kdlh TV and duth and found out that they don't have any because it's too cold to drive there you have to walk there so they sent us this footage from duth so look at this is in duth which is that's how the lake is freezing but it's so much colder outside that the lake is actually so it's a lot going on there cold all right so it's- 12 there and you saw the breath coming out of so it's 42 degrees colder than that and embarrass so the breath must come out in ice cubes I'm thinking so I was thinking what is it like to live where it's 54 Below Zero in the North Pole I believe it's 30 below Zer so it's not even that cold in the North Pole so I what I did is I got a phone book and I I want to talk to somebody from there to see um it's still cold it just flew out last night and it's a all right I'm going to call this this place in here uh mostly moose and more that's what the the the name of the store is mostly moose and more cuz I love the product and the dessert hello can I help you hi there hi um I'm just wondering what kind of what do you sell there I know it's mostly Moose for sure but what else is the mo uh the mo is wolves and bears and and it's it has everything to do with um oh everything from uh pine cone curtains to uh jewelry to candles um just about everything yeah now I can see why you put more in the but it's good I like it I I don't think it's terribly risky I I for me it is is it yeah would you do it do a little sticky upy thing that's when I'm washing my face my hair looks like that and I mean that's what I do I love it I'm not I swear to God I love it I really mean it's a compliment I think you looked great I would I would look like that and go oh I got to put a sweater and a buttonup shirt on or something like that I get it where are you from um Philadelphia originally mhm yeah phly the Eagles yeah I have to be able to say on air if anyone can get me tickets my father and my two brothers to the Super Bowl if the Eagles win please dear God okay that was a bag yeah um so so uh did they come out for the premiere no we didn't we didn't have a Premiere actually for this for this particular movie the first time ever so my mom and my dad and my grandmother went out in Philadelphia There's a snowstorm it's like 50 below to see the movie for the first night tonight and my mother just calls me I'm backstage St she's like Marie for 10 minutes we were weeping in the middle of the movie because I I tend something kind of violent some stuff happens to me I hear it's and she and she just said we just want you to know now we'd rather you be naked um so and you and your dad speaking of uh of I can't believe you did this you had a bonding experience we did you know my I this is shocking to me you must your parents must be like my parents are really fun and funny but my dad is 62 he's never had a tattoo in his life I've never had a tattoo we decide this is what we're going to do together we're going to get tattoos together so I get like a how clear is that you go to get a tattoo with your Dad we did we like went went to the Corner Bar had a couple of beers some shop to D Daniels went across the street to the tattoo PA I get a tiny little something that's a bit of a secret that I have on my bottom on my bottom not not on my bottom well you said the bottom and my dad said I'm going to get something that I would love to die with there's only one thing I know I would like to die with the Philadelphia Eagles and a big emblem of the eagle the Philadelphia Eagles on his arm well now he's going to get tickets to the Super Bowl if they win how can you how can you not give somebody that would do that like right this is what I'm saying and what did you get you won't say I won't say it's tiny it's tiny yeah all right right yeah was that and that was your first tattoo you have one no I don't why commitment I don't like pain oh that's why uh simple explanation no I mean I no I'm not interested in having a needle for any reason in my arm much l paying someone for it and shooting ink into it and it's there forever and at some point it gets lower you know changes
