[Music] uh we're gonna get into Bobby Miller now and I know that he's certainly a little bit of a not even a little bit he's a big lightning rod uh a reminder if you do have an opinion about Bobby Miller or you have a specific question about Miller or a different topic we do uh we are leaving the super chats up and open so you could go that route we'll kind of pause what we're doing and get to that uh before we then leave some time at the end for uh some additional questions guys you mentioned it you know it wasn't uh it wasn't pretty tonight uh Bobby Mill he got the he got two outs right away in the first inning then struggled to get the third out Cubs ended up taking a two lead uh Dodgers cut into that right away took a lead in the bottom of the first kind of reset the game and I think then Bobby Miller sort of found his footing a little bit and then he ran into more trouble and ultimately at the end of the day the line is not great it's another you know inconsistent start Scott you mentioned it his fastball just doesn't uh I don't know how you worded it specifically but basically it's easy it's easy it's being hit pretty well and that's been a theme all season um I I know that I can Daniel I imagine the uh I know the answer to this question but what would you do with Bobby Miller at this point we're about three weeks left in the regular season Tyler glass now should be back next next probably as early as next week it would be late next week I think but next week nonetheless Clayton Kershaw maybe at some point down the line uh is there any is there any more need or room or reason for Miller to stick in the rotation at this point uh I I personally don't think so and and to be honest like I wasn't there like until this start like I still think in some of his recent starts he he showed a little bit of of of progress to was like all right let's just Trot keep trotting him out there and see if he could figure it out but I I do think I kind of reached a Breaking Point you know with this start tonight and I'll even take it one step further like I don't even think he should go down to Triple A and keep pitching I think he needs a full mental reset like at this point like I I think it's clear a lot of his issues are mental um and I do think you know just shut him down like you know call it a season um let him take a couple months off and then kind of really attack his his offseason workout program but I I think for now like Scott Scott broke it down like kind of at the beginning of the show he just has no clue where the ball's going he has absolutely no command whatsoever and um he he he doesn't have the ability to limit the damage which I think to be successful at this level like no one no one's going to be perfect like you're gonna walk guys you're gonna give up hits but your ability to really bear down you know when there's two guys on base and two outs and and and you got two strikes on the guy like really execute one pitch to to get out of that inning and and we just haven't seen that ability from him and this goes back even to last year like talk we talking about what happened in the playoffs last year like that's kind of what we saw like um he just completely lost it and like it'll be you know a walk or two um which when you have a lead like that's in my opinion that's my biggest pet peeve like when your your offense goes out and gives you three or four runs and then you you come out and walk two guys the next inning like that's just just not going to get it done and then you know you know the Homer is is not far away when that happens like we've seen it time and time again now so I definitely think um you know I've said it time and time again like the talent is still there we see he still throws 999 100 um we've seen him be successful in the past like he's a a very highly touted Prospect so I don't think you give up on him completely but I just think this was not his year like it started off great and then everything since that first start has just been a complete disaster like he's been injured um he's obviously been very ineffective so I just think you just chalk up L as as the kids like to say for this season and and hope um he looks better in spring training yeah Scott real quick before I come to you we have a super chat from J riff he says great show as always guys thank you for that J riff uh he continues Miller as a head case can't be on the postseason roster and also Edmund is Otani 2.0 uh look between Otani and Edmund three home runs were hit tonight one of those guys hit two of them we're just going to leave it at that I'm not going to say who it was but we'll just leave it at that that uh Jay Rift doesn't want Miller on the postseason roster I know we you might have missed our discussion a few minutes ago we kind of agreed that that's not necessarily going to happen and if it does happen then like three or four things for the Dodgers pcking staff has gone wrong and whether Bobby Miller is starting or not like there are other issues at hand uh back to Bobby Miller Scott the kind of the question that I asked Daniel you know what what should the Dodgers do with him is there reason for him to make another start I know people who follow you on Twitter uh can probably guess what your answer is going to be to this as well yeah I mean whichever plan they take uh I see some people talk about you know you've got to give them another start just eat some Innings Dodgers are in a spot where they're still have a division lead and if they want to just guide him to the rest of the season uh then that's the plan for them big league arm you just got to get Innings somewhere but if you want to keep yourself in games and you're not giving them away uh Triple A let them think about next year just like Daniel said like if they want to go the doublea route whichever but I agree fully on the full mental reset Dodgers are very aware of these things you can tell it it's not just talent-wise it's not just performance there's stuff going on upstairs I'm not going to immediately pencil him in with that but at sometimes the stuff looks okay but right now he's lost a complete grip on it like it's been this up and down roller coaster all year with him and it's been at the bottom more than it's been at the top or even in between and you know just for comparison uh Bobby Miller through let's see 90 pitches tonight he goes with a 20% called strike plus whiff rate last night Yoshi Noy Yamamoto throws 59 pitches and he's got a 41% call strike plus whiff rate so you're talking about a complete Polar Opposites here of someone who Bobby Miller is at the bottom barrel and a guy you can clearly see the talent level someone who's you know at the peak of their game and Bobby Miller who was there in the past and how far away he is uh from what and I don't know if it's just a complete drop off in Talent then you've got to start looking elsewhere which is why I really co-signed what Daniel said about the mental reset thing I think you've just got to SW scrap the year look ahead towards 2025 don't pressure him with absolutely anything uh even if there's a shot to make the postseason roster it it won't be this time yeah well guys I hate to be the bear of bad news but John is coming in with a super chat he says Roberts just said Miller will get another start I mean I guess it's not necessarily all that surprising to hear that they're G I think my assumption then is basically Miller will make one more start next week and then after that glass now's coming back into the rotation and Miller will be out at that point and it's just a matter of keeping him in the keeping Miller up for another start so that the Dodgers don't have to there is an off day they could kind of adjust the rotation but we know that to the Dodgers normal rest for a starting pitcher is five days not four days so basically that's extra rest uh so my assumption is you know not wanting to mess that up uh for the sake of you know until glass now was back grand scheme of things I guess it's not necessarily that big of a deal I know Dodgers are still what four and a half and five games up on the the Padres and Diamondbacks uh or maybe five and five something like that uh the bigger I think question that the the other part of that discussion though has been where they are in terms of the National League standings with the Phillies and the Brewers excuse me but some of that conversation has also been I know there've been people who have said hey like if the Dodgers get the number two seed so that they avoid potentially playing the Diamondbacks or Padres in N LDS that might be better I don't know if I fully subscribe to that yet I think you just try to win as many games as you can and however the chips fall they fall uh but Daniel you know we you just got done saying that you know there's no reason for for Bobby to make another start but here we are uh what do you what's your kind of live reaction to this uh I mean honestly like my live reaction is I'm trying to think in my head like who is even healthy like to complete a rotation right now and and obviously if they don't have enough healthy bodies then they really don't have another choice so I get it from that perspective but I just think um it feels like each of these starts is doing more harm than good to to Bobby Miller like and his his future like from a confidence standpoint um and whatnot but um you know with like you honestly forget how many guys are on the I right now like Gavin stone is like no one ever talks about him but he went down last week as well um so like it it it feels like they they really don't have another choice right now um like if Landon Knack is already in the rotation then it's not like they could just get rid of Bobby and bring someone else up like they're out of options I guess at this point like you said like it's probably not gonna you know affect the standings all that much and like like today he pitched and they still won the game like credit to the to the offense for that but um yeah it's it's it's not an Ideal World when a a guy whose erra starts with an eight like it's just um a member like a member of your rotation and and there's no no even thought of like hey let's find someone else like that's um it's kind of you know it's insane to me but it's kind of the spot that they're in Scotty you wanted to uh give John a little shout out yeah yeah John you know my bad Anthony and I were on we were on last night we missed your super chat right at the back end of the show and we must have just hit the outro uh and you toss that in there so I want to appreciate you and let you know I I didn't just gloss over that we genuinely miss that but uh just the last thing on Bobby uh I know people toss that in about him just eating Innings and it if everything having to do with them having a not a sizable lead but a couple G you know four four and a half five games is a is a solid lead at this point of the season a lot of things have to click right so wait for glass now to get back you know make the decision from there um but it's just remarkable just like you said in his last seven starts he's got an RA of nine he's allowed 34 earn runs in 34 Innings we're talking about his last nine and a third he's allowed 13 earn runs 10 hits so it's it's remarkable stuff I mean it's impressive it's impressive what he's doing here and how close to like two outs biggest thing is him and Walker bu of putting hitters away and having that confidence to throw any pitch at any spot they just do not have it and I somebody was mentioning I must have missed this he shook Will Smith off against Cody Bellinger to throw a fast ball there that's why that's why you have a nine ER that but also give B give give uh Bellinger a little credit he took I think it was an outside pitch and he went the other way with it like it it still was a decent piece of hitting um yes but yeah it it it just the Optics of it certainly considering the season Miller has had to uh shake off your catcher and then give up a home run there didn't look great I pulled up the the question that John bleed I looked at last night's video uh the Super Chat that we missed was John saying Edgardo henriquez is making a case for a call up I know that's been a popular uh opinion for a couple weeks but I mean at this point do either of you see Scott I'll go to you first do you see that happening I mean on one hand it's there's only three weeks on the other hand we've seen the do the Dodgers churn their roster like crazy uh any shot that you think Enriquez has of coming up I mean he should be it should be on the radar like he's he's been unbelievable like the biggest thing for him is limiting contact he's going to get the strikeouts he's going to have incredible impressive stuff there uh but he pitched tonight and he had a four walk Ting um allowed touran runs on that so again he's risen through the minor league ranks I think it's four different levels this year so you don't just do that because you know just for fun you do that because he's got impressive stuff you see a ton in him uh I would definitely believe and he's 22 years old but for arm like this who pumps 102 plus you've got to do something with it and I see Hep in chat talking about he's rule five eligible so I would say you give him a look and if there's a little krod in him shout out to the O2 angels I would say you give him a look and see what see if this stuff plays because how am I how are you not going to see if 102 103 plays in the big leagues and he's starting to command his secondary stuff and just like we see some other guys with impressive incredible fast balls it makes that secondary stuff look that much better uh but it's a it's a immediate refresher that a night like he had tonight in Triple A where you have a four- walk inning and then you allow two earn runs you can see how it happens so I would give him a call absolutely
