welcome to do Campbell stadium and you might as well get used to the sound you're hear it the seal war chant is going full throat today we have one of those games that test your focus top 25 team against an unranked opponent can you take care of business as we'll see a squad from the Sun Belt the Texas State Bobcat taking on the 11th ranked team in the land the Florida state seminal for EA Sports college football I'm ree Davis joined here in the booth as always by David Pollock and Jesse Palmer guys let's tee this one [Applause] up the Bobcats will kick it away to start us off and he's coming out of the end zone and the ball pops out oh inviting disaster maybe some nerves on that return but a fortunate bounce and they'll retain possession the 70's offense takes the field and this wide receiver he's the Lynch pin to the offense they want to make sure they find a multitude of ways to get him the football and it's a risk reward scenario on defense when you're trying to cover this guy re because you play a man coverage you risk him running by you and catching deep balls you play too much Zone and then he can hurt you after the catch a lot of different different ways this guy is very dangerous halfway there on first down it's second and five it's reverse nowhere to run on that one he loses four on the carry you know as an offense often times you try the reverse play because you're trying to take advantage of a defense over over pursuing and by a lot of defensive team speed didn't work right there great discipline by this defense so already a challenge on this opening drive it's third and nine dropping back it's aangal wide open downfield they make the stop but the sweet throwing and catches plenty to give him a first down that's a great job by the wide receiver there on a critical down third down running the curl route coming back to the football the catch and picking up the first the seals will line it up on First and 10 the give on the inside well man there's some big hitting going on in the trenches right now this defense they take a lot of pride in stopping the Run let's keep our eye on them throughout the course of the game and see if they can contain this running attack didn't get much on first down it's second and nine here's the handoff nice move to stay on his feet that's what you expect from a senior don't give them any extra yards great tackle there man a nice second effort by the back to break a tackle but how about those defensive backs willing to come up stick their face in the fan and make a tackle those are the best run defenses too right it's not just D linman and linebackers getting all the plays but it's DB that are willing to not just cover but tackle backs in the open field and that's incomplete a Defender all over him knock the ball to the ground fourth down coming up and the simal will line up to punt it away they'll have to punt for the first time this afternoon not going to risk return here he'll make the fair catch the Bobcats offense taking the field first chance we have to see them today and they seem to believe that they can take big plays away and man coverage by just locking him up in this matchup David yeah and it's hard to lock down a great wide receiver but a great defensive back versus a great wide receiver we got a showdown yeah let's be honest David most defenses don't have a dude like that at cornerback that could do that in a game like this but this matchup is is unique and it's going to really determine the outcome of the game and the Bobcats want to crank the tempo handoff from the gun tackled but he has a first down awesome job run the football right it's really basic go to those plays you know can get you first downs get you some extra set of downs then you can go make big plays this crowd full throat splitting the eard drums and letting him know it's going to be a long day right back to the well he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple listen I know there are a lot of DBS out there that all they want to do is get interceptions and dance in the end zone this dude likes to put his face in the fan get close to the line of scrimmage and tackle and on the opening drive that he's out there he gets a huge tackle for loss early that is a statement play grabbed in the back field it's Fox he's there to make the Stop and they threw it in reverse losing yardage on that play well they're able to find the tight end for an easy completion but good job tackling not allowing him to get the first down you make up the game plan and not a lot on the play sheet for this third and long from inside their own 20 wants to throw it's m cloud and a missed opportunity on third down as the defense knocks it free and fourth down is coming up every defense in the country talks about getting offenses in predictable third and long situations where I can bring on more speedsters and I know the pass is coming so I can have more success the Bob catch send out the punt unit a fair catch taken just inside the 40 yd line guys here comes that Florida State offense back onto the field the give to the tailback we'll give him a couple on that one second and eight coming up when with the running game on first down now back at [Applause] it wants to fire on second down catch in the middle it's Douglas excellent job working through the air there finding a hole in that defense and picking up a first down oh that is a rope for the completion in this offense I'll tell you you think about great seminal quarterbacks the three WS wanky Winston Ward dudes that could change the game Heisman Trophy win ERS every defensive coordinator was scared every time they had to play the seminal because of that vaed passing attack and this guy I think he has D coordinator seeing ghost because this guy can play at a high level man oh man the ball carrier was just shut down and I tell you what they need some push up front too right they got to move those defensive linemen out of the way at least create a hole so your running back has a chance not there he didn't have any got stuffed on first down it's second and 10 back to the ground with the running back and he does a really nice job finding open space and making a good gain before the stop is made time winding down in the quarter as they come to the line on Third and short the power run here they get him on the ground and with that we'll head to the second quarter it's been a defensive battle through the first period and the stats tell that tale sometimes you see the offenses sort of settle in find areas to probe after that first quarter the nolles are moving quickly down the field snagged in the middle it's to aili they stop him almost immediately short gain there and still a little ground to cover to pick up the first I want to get my running backs the ball in space as much as possible and sometimes it doesn't work in the running game but I can throw it to him I can try to create some space out wide dump him the football let him make some catches and see if I can't get some big plays out of it into the end zone and it's caught touchdown NOS can't start a game any better than than that defense gets the stop gives it back to the offense you march down the field you score they are in a great Rhythm now on both sides of the ball they'll try to add another to their lead and the extra point is good and it's seven nothing the officials offer the deal and the coach accepts it they will take the penalty the kickoff team on the field and he ought to just boom this thing through the end zone with that extra 15 yards on the penalty first down here for the offense the run from the shotgun finds that crease and he's got four out to the [Applause] 29 and the bobcat in the hurry up they'll go right back to him draged down after a pick up of five out to the 35 and the quarterback knew that that counter Run play was going to be successful he did a nice job counting the Box before the snap he knew he had good numbers he knew he had good angles and blocking so that is a green lit play from the GetGo hand it off go make yards quick pass on the jet motion and he's brought to the ground but not before he gets enough for the first [Applause] down the Bobcats come to the line with a new set of downs they'll throw it on first down he's going up top and it falls in complete but that could have been disastrous a Defender was right there nice job in coverage there offense trying to take a shot downfield the defender able to tip that one up in the air and force it incomplete line getting set on second down he'll pull it on the re maybe a three yd pickup there third and long coming up they go with the option quarterback keeps it himself and look we've seen this guy on tape guys break these tackles and take it the distance this offense should keep dialing up these option plays don't let that short gain by the QB prevent you from running this scheme in your playbook on third down he drops to throw and the incomplete pass will bring up fourth down and that's why that guy plays DB and not wide receiver DBS generally don't have as good of hands as wide receivers that ball should have been picked off on third down come on man that could have been a pick six and the Bobcats will punt this one away this will be the second time they've had to kick it away here's the fair Catch and he'll make it close to the 20 yd line the simol have it back they'll try to get that offensive spear flaming from the gun the running back tries to hit the hole what a good run there he has enough for the first down Renegade would be proud of the way they're using those horses to move it on the ground yeah get the horsepower going and man they've had some serious backs over the years at Florida State and you think about all the talent all the swag over the years you got to get back to that find those guys that they can really ATT catch this offense to and Thrive they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one and defense nowadays they don't look at stats of what is the yards per rush they look at how many negative plays they can create cuz why now you look at second down man it just became very predictable for this offense nice job creating the loss on first down lost one on that last one it's second and 11 back to throw it's ouanga l they're setting up the screen and he'll be brought down this defense is going to have to be careful not only do they have to worry about this guy running the football but they've got to keep their eye on him when he runs routes to he is a versatile back they have it at the 43 third and short trying to avoid making a decision on fourth down it's the two-minute warning and we'll see if the offense can tack a little something extra on their lead before the break as they come to the line on Third and short from the 43 I wonder if they already know they'll go for it if they don't make it here he unleashes a long one he's got it on the right ripping through the defense and getting it all the way down to the 24 yd line man if I'm a defense I got to find a way to get some more pressure on the quarterback or disrupt their timing and their rhythm I can't give him these big chunk plays through the air I got to be maybe a little bit more aggressive or do something a little bit different that big play flipped the field now they go to work from just outside the Red Zone nice move to pick up yardage they finally get him stopped but what a good job by that front wall to set up the screen and create some lanes for their running back great job too by the QB there holding the ball as long as possible allowing the pass rush to get up field and at the very last second getting it to his guide so that he can go get the first down he'll just keep slinging it he's got it on the run and he goes out of bounds after coming up with positive yardage there really good job working through his progression you get it to him quickly and the big tight end has a chance to run a little and and a really good job by the QB throwing an accurate throw I I got to hit those guys on the Move On The Run so they can do this they can catch the football get up field and chew up some extra yards out of the shotgun they go to the ground he'll be stopped just short of the end zone but they'll have it first and goal all right guys that's not a home run type play but he did enough there to keep the chains moving the seol are threatening on first and goal they'll try to get it in with the run just hammer it with this running back again and he knowses his way into the end zone and what a push up front by this offensive line everyone playing in unison driving out of their stance working into the second level hats on hats creating a lane for that running back [Applause] lining up to tack one more onto that lead and the extra point pushes the lead to 14 they marched 78 yds down the field and they capped it off with a one-yard plunge they got the late touchdown on the board now now about to kick it away and hoping the defense can keep them from answering he'll bring it back from inside as five really disciplined job by the coverage unit to get down there and make the stop at the 19 Texas state has the football back and they'll go on offense he'll come out throwing on first down he's got his man a timeout is called as this offense tries to find a way to get more points on the board before the half now after the short completion it's second down looking to throw it's McLoud just goes right through the Wicket and brings up third down man he will be thinking about that one you know sometimes wide receivers are so eager to get up field once they have the ball they take their eyes away you really got to do a good job looking it in and securing the catch decb Rising as the crowd Gets behind this defense on third down from the gun once to pass now he's going to break the pocket and he scoots his way to the first down and then slides to avoid the hit here's a Timeout on the field tight game here late in the first half the Bobcats will snap it on First and 10 he's going to pass fires left got his man he's run out of bounds but a big play on that one and it'll be a first down you know it's hard enough just a catch pass passes in college football but to do it while also being cognizant of where you are in the field and making sure you get a foot down inbounds that's really impressive finally this offense starting to show a little juice they've got a first and 10 looking to move it through the air and this will be incomplete a big hit there forces second down that's what I'm talking about that is how you close and when a guy's going to make a catch you make sure he doesn't make it physicality using your pads running through them and guess what not only this play does he feel it next time he tries to go over the middle or feels footsteps this will pay dividends fires on the Move got his man downfield the offense uses a timeout to stop the clock and they'll get a quick breather time dwindling away as they try to put points on the board right before the half looking to go up top on first down didn't have much of a choice there but to get rid of [Applause] it on second down they'll try the field goal to get the points before halftime and he'll need a little distance and accuracy a 4 two y from the left hash it's good he could have hit a string right in the middle of the uprights there that late in the half field goal always gives you a little boost going to the locker room and they'll need to finish off these final few seconds and not allow them to answer he'll start the return inside his five and they'll bring him down to get the offense started on the next drive and holding on to the lead the offense will simply take a knee and that's how we will wrap up the first half that's the end of the second quarter that means it's time to join Kevin and our halftime update man it should come as no surprise we have ourselves a fun matchup in Tallahassee and I get it a lot of coaches will say the difference between winning and losing comes down to stopping big plays and getting big plays but if you ask me it's more about how good you are on third down and how efficient you are in keeping drives alive those two stats can help you break the will of even the best defenses and help you come out on top with that said let's send it back to the guys at dop Campbell [Applause] Stadium coming out with it it's Wilson he's brought down at the 16 would have been much better off to take the touch back Texas state gets the football back and here comes the offense trailing by a couple of scores they'd like to generate some confidence here early in the third quarter down two possessions the coaching staff met in at halftime and they've probably scripted this opening drive just like they do at the start of the game they've now got an idea of what plays they feel most confident in what plays their quarterback is seeing the best to go out here and execute a scoring Drive well and it's nice to get the ball first like I got the first opportunity to close the gap a little bit apply some gra game pressure to these guys so I think getting the ball first driving down scoring right here would be huge running back searching for a hole they'll knock him down after a pickup of one to the 18 and the Bobcat headed quickly to the line trying to move the sticks on third down through the air he's got an open man they'll move the chains after he gets it to the 43 yd line and a big key on that throw to the slot receiver guys is putting the ball out in front the location of the throw is what helped that guy get extra yards after the catch the Bob catch getting set on First and 10 [Applause] from the shotgun now here's an inside give and this one will be stopped for no game it's hard to run on a defense that comes off the ball like that and runs to the football like that good luck no holes anywhere they got nothing on the last play it's second and 10 he'll keep it himself he's drop behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three I hate being that guy to say just take a dive don't take a hit but when the play is going absolutely nowhere you might think about it first Do no harm right and you've already been harmed so just don't make it worse don't take those big shots unless you know it's for an important situation goal line third down touchdown got it set up on the outside defense was not fooled by that screen to the back and they'll stop him short of the marker it'll be fourth down they allowed the completion but this defense was swarming to keep them away from that first down line yeah and you allow completions in those third down situations underneath the sticks and you come up and rally and everybody flies to the football that's great execution by this defense fourth down and the punt team sends it the other way fair catch called for and made guys here comes that Florida State offense back onto the field snags it quickly on the left and a good job of coverage by that defense just a short pickup hey I'll tell you what that slot receiver he may not be the biggest receiver in the world but he is Shifty and he runs really good routes you saw it on that play ran the ball on first down let's see what they do on second give to the running back he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three well they're trying to get that run play going to the outside but it's the defensive end who does a great job winning his one-on-one and forcing the negative play this defense has kept them backed up now one more stop and they can get off off the field on Third and long on the move it's aanga l it's caught gets the job done on third down as he gets it out to the 25 defense is about feeling out the offense and what they like to do what are they going to do in third and short third and medium third and long so far the offense is winning defense is going to need to make some adjustments they've got it first and 10 from the 25 he's looking to throw it and the heat will get home and the quarterback goes down at the 17 and nice answer by this defense you give up a big play you go take a big play sometimes you get down on yourselves and one play turns to two nice job by this defense getting the sack creating some momentum they come to the line hoping to get some of that yardage back from the 17 looking to pass on second down get it out on the screen they bring him down but a solid pick up to put them in position to pick up a first down well a nice Gainer on that running back screen now how about the offensive line getting down field and getting blocks to really help out the back find some space to go to work somebody he needs to make a play here it's third and long from the 26 from the gun wants to pass got it in the middle it's Douglas and he's not going to make it the defense denying him the first down one of the things I love about this defense is they just have such great awareness and they're always communicating they understood the down and distance they knew exactly what they needed to do to make the tackle to force the punt that is so well done and the simol line up to to punt it away this will be the second time they've had to kick it away signals for the fair Catch and that's where they'll put it in play just outside the 20 Texas state has the football back and they'll go on offense trying to move them on the counter he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of [Applause] three that's the end of the quarter and Florida state has the lead they're sitting in a strong position here with the lead let's take a look at our game summary one quarter to go and might we have the makings of a classic fourth quarter finish not what they had in mind to start this drive here comes second and 13 looking downfield it's m Cloud all kinds of room to throw that one in there and it is a chunk play a huge gain on that one before the defense brings it to an end I'll tell you you cannot count this team out because of who's playing quarterback when this guy's in the game it's never over and yeah they're trailing here in the fourth quarter but this dude can put up points quickly [Applause] to the air on first down he makes the [Applause] connection and the Bobcats moving quickly to the line [Applause] early movement on the offense and they'll push it back five yards so the decision has been made and the coach will take the penalty this offense has a second down play he's looking to throw fires to the wide out a strike downfield all kinds of Running Room touch down Texas State reeled it in and just made the house call lead in the game and the confidence is building if only there's enough time to finish time is ticking but man you gave yourself a chance now now the defense go out do your job we got the momentum if you give me the ball back I'm going to win let's go defense now they'll try to get the two and make it a three-point game late go straight ahead he's not going to make it in and the decision to go for two does not work out lining up to cover the kick after that touchdown drive and he'll return it and try to get behind his blockers nice job by the kickoff team everybody stayed in their lanes and they'll stop him at the 16 the seol have it back they'll try to get that offensive spear flaming complete to start this drive and maybe he'll get back to the the line of scrimmage but no more than that the defense has their hands full trying to stop this guy in the slot they're going to have to figure something out to bracket him try and get two bodies around and maybe get some safety help as well CU right now they do not have the answer for this guy and here comes the offense on second down wide receiver now comes in motion the give is to Williams he kept those legs moving got three out to the 19 you got to get this defense credit because they have bottled this guy up all game long he's one of the best running backs in allive college football everybody was expecting him to have a big one today don't tell that to this defense though they've played with great effort they've gotten hats to the football and they have been able to shut him down back to pass it's U angal got him downfield to the 43 yard line and a first down for this offense and offense has practiced the situation this is 4minute off offense you've got the lead late in the game you're trying to bleed the clock and just get first downs they do that they stay in bounds and the clock keeps ticking the seol have it with a first and 10 they'll keep it on the ground to keep this clock moving they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one how about the job by this defense today they knew what they were getting into a really good running back we talked to him this week it was the main focus point of this offense stopping the Run game game stopping the Run game boy have they showed up and showed out and answered that challenge fast motion from the offense touch pass on the Jet Sweep really nice stop there from this senior leader defense trying to keep this offense from getting a line on who to block it's third down now and they ought to be able to get off one more play before the two-minute warning we've reached a two-minute warning in this offense trying to milk this clock and keep time on their side now if they can get a stop on this third and 10 expect an immediate timeout from the gun wants to pass grabbed in the middle it's Williams they've got the defense reeling right now with that big play to the 29 quick timeout called by the defense stopping the clock to save as much time as possible for their offense it'll be a first and 10 from the 29 it's a draw and they try the middle of this Stout defense and they rise to the challenge defense uses a timeout quickly trying to to get that ball back and preserve time for their offense ordinarily on second and 10 you might look past but here you just want to keep that clock moving the give to the running back from the shotgun he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple timeout called there by the defense desperate to get the ball back and save as much time as possible this will be the eighth play of the drive but a great opportunity for the defense to get off the field running behind that left side nowhere to run on that one he loses four on the carry that back had absolutely nowhere to run the football actually is he counting I think he's counting to make sure there's only 11 guys on defense so here we are on fourth down and this field goal kicker is going to face all the pressure in the world it's good easy call for the refs well that's a huge kick right there because now the opponent has to score a touchdown here in the fourth quarter that put so much pressure on the opponent now nice job by the Special Teams going out and executing in a big moment so after the last Drive ended with a field goal the kickoff team out there to send it away on the run from inside his own five he was looking for some Running Room but not much to be found as he stopped at the 18 Texas state gets the football back and here comes the offense there's plenty of time to work with here but they have to be highly efficient in their attack Jesse so it comes down to the quarterback position too ree don't let the moment get too big play within yourself David because this guy's practiced this situation before no doubt use the sidelines they're your friend I don't have to take deep shots throw beyond the first down marker so I can stop that clock for a little bit and possibly use my timeouts second and 10 he'll throw again makes a connection and he was loose and in the open field and on his way a tremendous pick up up on that one and I love the awareness by the wide receiver on that play because I'm not sure that route was supposed to be that deep you got to wonder if the receiver decided maybe to adjust the route a little bit to make sure that he got the first down and they'll spike the ball to try to save as much time as they can [Applause] no time to waste here they've got to get set and pick up chunk yardage looking for a man it's McLoud coming after him that pressure got to him and he just had to Chuck it out of bounds well obviously here in the fourth quarter trailing they're going to be throwing the ball trying to get back in this game couldn't come up with it there on second down you're expecting them to throw it here on third they've got to move quickly here still a chance but they've got to force the ball down the field on Third and long he has to throw for it and the pressure will get there the sack down he goes in the waning moments that could be a costly play down a possession here in the fourth and they'll need to convert on this fourth down desperate to convert and he'll throw it he'll go down in a bit of an unusual way to bring this game to a close [Applause] for
