stirs the drink for this team talk about the total package he runs it produces it directs it acts out all the scenes he's the whole package I love a quarterback who understands the ins and outs of a football game this kid plays like he wrote the manual and the ball is handed off out of the shotgun the metac is made after a four yd gain so second and six the monarchs will crank up the tempo keeping it on the ground here goes backwards losing three yards there so on the opening drive they're backed up here now third and nine dropping back it's Wilson looking to set up a screen pass here they've got him but that completion good enough for first down yardage the monarchs come to the line to set of fresh set of downs that's exactly what you want to see here from this offense a big third down conversion offensive line did their job giving a quarterback enough time great read good execution throws the ball accurately now you got some momentum going here on this opening drive [Applause] they'll hand it off try to run it up the middle but get nothing with the offense getting set this is not where you want to be against this defense third and long hand off from the shotgun defense stops him short of the marker so now it's fourth down and the monarchs will line up to boot it away that's the first punt today for the offense kick no fair catch looking to make a return here physical running fights off the defender they finally get him down but that's a solid return good work by The Return Man so UMass this offense comes out for their first possession today all right Kirk let's take a quick look at the impact players for today's game and how they're going to affect the outcome these are your leaders on the field and blck room these are your go-to guys not only when you need a play to be made but also when you need somebody to Rally your [Applause] team first play of the drive they'll come out throwing launching it downfield that's a bullet but it's incomplete well this quarterback and his receivers have got to get on the same page they've got to find a rhythm if they want to move the ball down the field fakes the hand off looking to throw and this pass is caught breaks loose at the 40 oh and he's in the clear now it's a foot race and he takes it in for the score touchdown Minute Man Chris how dangerous is this offense of course you know about the receivers those vertical shots but here's an example you get the ball to the running back out in space takes it all the way to the end zone for a touchdown and he knocks through the pat kickoff team is on the field to boot this one away not a long kickoff fielded just inside the 25 brought down at the 29 that's well start the drive first play of the drive now coming up from the 29 looking to throw it on first down makes a quick grab and that is a first down game moves the ball to the 40 tackle is made but the junior qu back shows off his arm strring that time first UMass has the lead now offense has a first down the tight end goes in motion before the snap looking for some space it's young goes backwards losing three yards there they'll have to hurry now second down with the clock ticket and he'll set up to throw and the senior making a disruptive impact play a really good job by this defense the quarterback looked to be trying to work through his progression to find his open receiver but before he knew it he's on his back after consecutive losses we need a miracle here on Third and a mile hand off here from the shotgun the defense stops him short of the marker so it's Fourth Down coming up the monarchs will bring their punt team on the field now look at to kick it away for the second time and it's taken at the 25 finally forc out of bounds but a solid return that time the UMass offense takes the field now they were able to punch it in the endzone last time looking to do the same thing here to see if the defense can make [Applause] adjustments that run moves the ball across the 40 great job by the offensive line here opening up some holes and giving the running back room to run on first down plays like this can open up the playbook for the play caller allow him to make that defense think are they going to run maybe play action maybe throw the ball down [Applause] field third down coming offense facing a third and short from the 41 can they make the first down and avoid a tricky fourth down decision quarterback escapes the pocket and takes off that deep shot is caught for a big game they've got him but it's a huge game they'll spot it about the 27 looks like the final play of the half coming up and looking to throw now on first down that falls incomplete As Time runs out in the first half of play M's going to wrap up the first half here say the difference between winning and losing comes down to stopping big plays and getting big plays but if you ask me it's more about how good you are on third down and how efficient you are in keeping drives alive those two stats can help you break the will of even the the best defenses and help you come out on top for now let's get back to the guys in the booth to start up this second half all right Kevin thank you for the update the monarchs will kick this deep to begin the second half Fields it just outside the goal line they'll be tackled at the 27 that's where the drive will [Music] start the minute man offense back on the field now and the first play of the drive now set up at the 27 first play of the third quarter is a handoff they bring him down but that's a solid gain on the play this offense continues to roll be wondered would this defense come up with some answers at halftime not on that play now they've tried to make every adjustment they can this offense has been very impressive with the way they're able to keep this ball on the ground churning out big yards I think they're gaining more confidence really as this game goes on an explosive Play Moves the ball all the way down near the 25 yd line what a pitch and catch by the quarterback and receiver for a big gain for this offense play action here on first down fires it on the Move there's a fast ball but it's intercepted after a short return he's tackled at the 18 what an enormous takeway by this defense Bo this defense did exactly what they needed to do come up with a turnover here here in the second half to get themselves back in the game they get the interception now can their offense cannot Escape that fero pass to sack well that takes the wind right out of your Sails this offense is trying to find a way to get back into this game and another pressure and a sack against their quarterback the umat has the lead now he reached the end of the third time is running out to cut into this lead let's check out the game sacks before we go on we're set now for the fourth quarter who is going to make the crucial plays to take home this W here we go first play of the quarter offense setting up for a second down play back to pass it's Wilson can't get it away the defense is got him what a huge stop at this stage of the game well a serious challenge for this offense you don't want to be in third and long inside your own 20 how much of a risk will they take to try to pick up this first down he's going to take off quarterback gets down to avoid the tackle well they did a good job of getting pressure on the quarterback but man make the play bring him down instead they give up positive yards here on the scramble drops back looking for a fourth down conversion lets it Go quickly and it falls incomplete for a turnover on Downs well this decision ision clearly backfires on this offense backed up inside their own 10yd line and you go for it I mean I get being aggressive but that's just not smart football makes it across the goal line touchdown yass see if they can convert the point after extra point up and good a two touchdown lead here now in the fourth quarter that makes the start and the Monarch's offense is back out on the field now remember last time they went for a fourth down and got stopped the opponent went right down the field see if they can recover from that here quick throw to his receiver the physical defending that one Falls incomplete brings up second down well these guys just continue to struggle throwing the football you know whether it's been running the wrong route the quarterback not being accurate the offensive line not doing their job it's been a collective effort and it's a big reason why they're trailing now in this game pressure is coming and it's the senior G home with the sack the clock is still running they got to get set quickly third coming drops back looking to throw for it on third down oh and he can't quite hold on a great chance for their first interception here today but it's going to bring up fourth down the offense stays on the field down multiple possessions Easy Choice trying for a four fourth down completion throws it to the right and the pass is intercepted a takeway for the defense can he take it all the way it's a big return off the int they steal their offensive possession boy would this quarterback love to have this one back they're trying to work themselves back into this game here in the second half and the defense comes up with a big turnover that could be the nail in the C and the defense with more pre- snap movement coming up second down and goal looking to throw it's foman he's got it right near the end zone second brought down but the catch moves the ball all the way down to the one and now the defense will call a timeout this critical and he runs it in for the score touchdown Minutemen but they'll try to add to the lead now with the p extra point up and good a three touchdown lead now here in the final quarter now the kickoff team is out on the field that makes the score 21 fielded just inside the 25 he's brought down at the 28 that's where the drive will start binions offense retakes the field at this point there's not much you can do except play for Pride they'll come out throwing here to start the drive lucky for the junior quarterback that didn't get picked off boy this offense has really struggled today Chris when it comes to throwing the football they have dug themselves a huge hole they're not going to have any chance a coming back and I think one thing about this is you wonder where you go from here you're hoping to make a play or two to give yourself a belief that things can they' got him defense comes up with a sack and the offense will wisely spend a timeout after the play clock management is going to be very important here in the final minutes that sack makes it third down from the gun he looks for an open man quarterback on the move trying to make something happen they tackle him at the 38 solid gain nice play there and the coach quickly calls timeout after the play trying to hold on to as much time as possible 25 here comes a first down pass attempt the pocket breaking down he cannot escape the defense with a sack they'll hurry to the line here with the clock running second down com up the offense spikes the ball here looking to preserve as much clock as they can third got it one of those critical third down plays coming up let's go back to pass it's Wilson has no one to throw to there on third down and now it's a fourth down coming up how about the defense today they have played so well I think the defensive coordinator put together a great plan his kids clearly understood their scheme because they have and he's brought down a sack will end this drive huge play here by the defense fresh set of downs for the offense first down from the shotgun it's a handoff and he's able to find some Running Room nice pick up at the 11 yd line well this was an intriguing match up coming in we weren't sure which way it was going go
