Texas and Texas Tech this matchup dates back all the way to 1939 and the Longhorns actually lead the alltime series 8967 coming into this matchup now the Red Raiders have won seven of the last 10 in this series series and actually 13 of the last 20 and Texas Tech has actually won three straight out in the friendly confines of the USA over the Longhorns now Texas Tech is currently tied for fourth in the Big 12 standings at 8 and six alongside TCU and Baylor when it comes to kenpom and some of those net rankings for these two squads Texas Tech in the kenpom rankings comes in at 31st the Longhorns at 36 net rankings Texas Tech is 35th well the Longhorns are 40th so there you go it's a pretty even matchup here and the standings say that as well in some regards even though Texas has only won six games in the Big 12 but this is closer of a matchup than people think and I think the injury aspect of it really does impact Texas Tech and we'll talk about that here in just a second but you got to start with the two guys that are injured let's just be real about it right Warren Washington does he play against the Longhorns and how effective is he I do expect him to play but man that was a tough watch and a tough scene out at UCF for him because you could tell that it flared up in terms of his toe injury really early on against the knights if we do see Warren Washington how close to 100% could he possibly be and how does that impacts his ability to guard one of the best bigs in the Big 12 who we'll talk about here in just a second on the Longhorns it'll be very very interesting to monitor that will also be monitoring chance McMillan who did not play at all did not suit up in Orlando against UCF he missed the game against the knights according to Jeff Haxton at guns up radio due to a sore hip now Texas Tex rotation is already razor thin I don't need to tell you that if you've watched this team all year long really they're about seven deep right and then maybe inconsistently eight but Chance McMillan and Warren Washington are two of the biggest contributors on this roster for Texas Tech if they are unable to go or limited against Texas that is a Monumental blow for the Red Raiders chances of beating the Longhorns out in the 806 now a guy that would pick up the slack because well he's been doing it for the past month is Darion Williams he has been the most consistent and the best player for Texas Tech for going on really a month now okay if you're the Red Raiders you love to see him in a prime time matchup because he loves these Prime Time moments point and case Kansas game is he going to shoot perfect again absolutely not I don't think he expects to and I don't think anybody should expect them to but he loves these big moments and this is a prime time matchup on ESPN on well a game that both teams really need to have it would get Texas Tech to that 2 win plateau and it would get the Longhorns back into the mix in terms of the upper echelon at least the top half of the Big 12 now players to watch for Players To Watch - Texas Texas it all starts with Max Max asith I mean he is just he leads the longhorn ship if you want to go that way right he is the Navigator of everything for the Longhorns a transfer from Oral Roberts you may remember that he played alongside former Texas Tech R Raider Kevin OB banner up there when well or Roberts made the sweet 16 excuse me he's just a bucket bro I mean that's just what he is he is a bucket and he can get to his spots at will and maybe even more impressively he sets his teammates up for Success almost better than anybody else in the Big 12 outside of maybe lby up at Iowa State he's that good and oh I got to throw shed in there too I know the Houston fans will come at me if I don't guarding him in the pick and roll for Texas Tech is going to be the primary objective because him and Dylan du Su are absolutely lethal in that regard and now we transition to Dylan du Su he's finally healthy and he's showing why he was viewed as one of the best bigs in all of the Big 12 he's leading the Longhorns in points per game Al be it after missing some time this year but he's averaging 16 points .6 points per game that leads the Longhorns he's also averaging just under five rebounds per game and a combined 2.6 blocks and steals per game he's a guy that can stretch it out and that's what we're going to talk about here in just a second in the must-watch matchup but he is a guy that truly impacts the game in a multitude of ways not only on the offensive end but on the defensive end as well and a guy that Texas Tech is going to have their hands full with in terms of trying to limit his production now Dylan Mitchell a former five-star recruit he was a guy last year that came in didn't really make much of an impact that is not the case there a true sophomore down in Austin he leads the Longhorns in rebounds per game at 8.4 and is averaging just over 10 points per game as well he is really good at cutting you don't have to run a play for him he can help you in the pick and roll but he is really athletic and conf finded space and is a really good slasher to the basket to finish through contact and a guy that Texas Tech is going to have to limit those opportunities for now when it comes to the must-watch matchup in this one it's Must-Watch Matchup for Texas at Texas Tech Warren Washington versus Dylan du Su if Warren Washington plays this is an all Big 12 type matchup these two guys are that good now how healthy will Warren Washington be and the main reason I'm asking that is obviously from a Texas Tech side you're much better with him well you'd be much better with him in this matchup because Dylan du Su and his athleticism fits perfectly in terms of Warren Washington being the primary defender on him for a majority of the game if you're the Red Raiders Dylan du Su likes to space it out go out on the three point line can beat you off the dribble Warren Washington and his athleticism is proven it doesn't matter if he's close to the rim or out on the perimeter he's Fleet a foot enough when he's healthy at least close to it to be able to guard bigs that can do that so this is going to be the primary matchup for me in this game and it's going to be very interesting to see if Warren Washington plays and if he does what kind of Warren Washington do you get in this game because I truly think him and chance McMillan are going to be those game time decision S Type players in this matchup all right let's Texas at Texas Tech Odds & Prediction look at the odds for Texas at Texas Tech again the last matchup out in lck for the foreseeable future for this matchup that dates back to pre well I guess right when World War II started so there you go according to Bart tvart T rank Texas Tech is a three and a half Point favorite in this one and his metrics give the Red Raiders a 63% chance to win this game you see my score prediction down at the bottom of your screen again I've talked about the priorities for this team moving forward if you're Texas Tech there's three three primary objectives for me in terms of these final four games for Texas Tech first and foremost get Warren Washington and chance McMillan as close to 100% is possible for March Madness and the Big 12 tournament second you got to figure out these shooting lows with chance McMillan pop Isaacs and really a couple other guys as well in terms of their streaky Factor that's fine Kerwin Walton has really only been the guy that's been productive all year and not shaky at all when it comes to shooting from three but specifically pop and chance you got to figure that out from deep and then third you have to defend home court and it starts with this one this is your second to last home game then you go on the road for two against two of the bottom feeders in the Big 12 this game is of the utmost importance for Texas Tech to defend home court and really
