uh week one in college football coming in hot and heavy on Thursday and Friday yeah look at these ranked teams in action including a Missouri team that could challenge for the playoff they're number 11 in the preseason poll hosting Murray State they're nearly a 50o favorite Utah the favorite in the Big 12 hosting Southern Utah nearly a 40o favorite these are all monstrous spreads but at least we will get our first looks at some of these teams including Oklahoma first game is a member of the SEC is on Friday against Temple we are going to pick every single ranked team that's in action in college football well it's not really we it's Chip Patterson and it's Danny canel cover three podcast coming in hot going to send it out to chip with the first pick of the season I guess in week one and it's NC State with three-time sun Bel Player of the Year Grayson McCall now the quarterback and getting laying 33 and a half at home against Western Carolina chip so for the first time this season let me say lay them lay every single one of those 33 and a half points will of course take it all the way up to 35 I understand that Dave doran's DNA is not necessarily to go out there and run up the score but he has never had or at least has not had in a while this many toys on offense because yes you do have Grayson McCall in at quarterback to give you a level up at the quarterback position but you're also bringing in Jordan Waters a star running back from duke you're also bringing in Hollywood Smothers from Oklahoma Noah Rogers from Ohio State Justin Joe Lee from Yukon uh Robert andai the offensive coordinator is so excited about what they can do and the way that the versatility that Grayson McCall has can be able to be utilized and of course KC concepion The Freshman of the year in the ACC the leading receiver in the ACC I think he's going to go for about, 15500 total yards this season and I think it starts with a big game against Western Carolina and the catamounts so NC State with a brand new offense I say they Flex their muscles and cover the spread first of four ranked teams in action on Thursday that one's at seven Eastern how about 8 Eastern Danny it's Missouri ranked number 11 in the preseason poll after a really good year last year against a really bad Murray State team this is a huge line here of 46 and a half I mean I'm a little upset you hassle for disparaging race or Nation Murray State comes in the Jody Wright era is looking to get off to a strong start I don't love anything about this game this is an absolutely ginormous number and it's not like we're talking about the offense that Ohio State's rolling out there or Oregon is rolling out there and I like Brady cook the quarterback from Missouri a Luther Burton might be one of the best if not the best wide receiver in the country along with Leo uh Theo whis they've got some weapons I just think this is one where the number is too big I there's no incentive here I don't think there's an you know with the 12 team extended playoff you don't need style points anymore to try to impress any committee at the beginning of the season I think they treat this like a preseason game missou does I think they get out there they get a comfortable lead then they put in some backup start working some younger players for some depth so I'll say Murray State gets the cover of the 46 and a half I don't love it yeah I I that that's a tough one I mean muray has not been good they needed a coaching change they were 2-9 last season for reference they lost to Louisville 56 to nothing also at 8:00 eastern time on Thursday it's Kansas at home kind of they're having their their Stadium redone so they're actually playing at the home of Sporting KC in Kansas City 44 and a half is the spread against lyndenwood uh school from Missouri chip yeah a cozy cozy confines you know playing there in the home of Sporting KC I think it'll be unique environment students are going to be uh excited to get there and I think that Kansas goes out there and puts on a show lyen wood is a program won just three games last year just one in Big South play and I think that when you've got the change over an offensive coordinator you know when you do have all the the different ways that Lance Li hold's program has been waiting to get Jaylen Daniels back on the field if Jaylen Daniels plays in this game I expect that he's going to try to get that back loose and score a lot of touchdown Downs so I'm going to take the Jayhawks and I'm going to lay this big number because the last thing that I want to do is be on the other side asking Lynden Wood's defense to try to contain Danel all right Chip's been laying it so far Danny uh well he's been taking the points let's move on to uh a battle for Utah here it's it's also on Thursday it's also at 9: Eastern time it's Southern Utah at number 12 Utah Danny cam Rising returning we haven't seen him since the Rose Bowl would have been New Year's Day of 23 you know I'm not going to touch the number I'm going to look at the total uh because I actually do like this one this is another this is another big number at 38 and a half so I'm not going to touch that I'm going to go under the 52 and a half we've got cam Rising back and I think that is a huge you know get for him to return to health for the Utah UT at quarterback Kyle Whittingham welcomes him back for his sixth or seventh season it's hard to keep track nowadays with some of these quarterbacks but we saw what he meant to that offense when they were without him last year playing multiple quarterbacks but this to me is is about making sure that they have him the entire season they will get out there they will get the comfortable lead they'll make sure Brent keithy who's back at tight end for them who's also another Dynamic weapon out of that 12 Personnel they love to run I think you'll see a steady dose of Michel Bernard in the backfield you know a run steady game very controlled with one of the defenses that hasn't finished outside of the top three in the Pack 12 since 2017 I would expect that defensive dominance to continue very workmanlike approach for Utah I think they could even pitch a shutout so give me the under 52 a half in this matchup all right let's jump to Friday one ranked team in action it's Oklahoma's first game as a member of the SEC and chip they're playing one of the worst teams that we've had in college football over the last four years Temple has one Conference win each of the last four seasons I thought the line might be bigger than this it's 42 and A2 I I I agree with you looks like a line too little situation and let's talk about Temple because this Temple team team you know they have finished also yeah one win in conference play but they finished three and n a couple years in a row under Stan Drayton they are capable of going out and winning a football game but I think this is even a step back for them because of the 134 teams at the FBS level Temple ranks number 129 in terms of returning production that means your yards your tackles all the Banger statistics what they have back from last year it is among the five least experienced uh Team team in the entire country that is not a good setup as you're going into Norman you even lose what little bit of spark that you would have at the quarterback position and I think this is going to be a difficult year for Stan Drayton and the owls and it starts with a blowout loss to Oklahoma now led by Jackson Arnold all right that's the picks for ranked teams in action on Thursday and Friday five ranked teams in action before we head to Saturday the first Saturday of week one of the college football season we're going to get more picks from Danny and chip in just a little bit coming up oh we've got some big 10 teams in action Penn State's got to go on the road to West Virginia and how about Iowa's New Look offense new offensive coordinator uh they're in action you got to go under right all right we're going to pick every ranked college football team's game against the spread and uh here's a look at some of the early games on Saturday Penn State goes on the road to West Virginia they're they're laying eight and a half are the n Lions Iowa new offensive coordinator total still almost in the 30s 40 and a half against Illinois State Tennessee uh with a big number against Chattanooga and really really interesting game South Dakota state has been the best team in FCS for a while taking on number 17 Oklahoma State let's jump into it with chip Patterson and Danny canel and let's start with a big big uh Big 12 Big 10 matchup it's Penn State a team that really handled West Virginia easily last season they won by 23 but that was in that was in Happy Valley and Danny this one is not going to be in Happy Valley this will be in the Hornets Nest in Morgantown what do you think I actually like the home Underdog in this one we were breaking this down earlier cover three on CBS Sports Network and I love Garrick green the development we saw him throughout the season at the quarterback position he's not the biggest dude he's only 5'11 but he figures out a ways to make plays and I like Penn State to win the game but I think this is one that's going to be close in the fourth quarter I think it could be a field goal or touchdown game and as long as I'm getting more than that over seven points give me the Mountaineers all day long we assume that Penn State's offense is going to click with new offensive coordinator Andy Colton the Nikki coming over from Kansas with Drew Allard just being able to light it up but I think that could take some time to get used to to find that continuity that Rhythm plus he's not exactly the dynamic Runner that you had out in Kansas with Jason Bean or or Jaylen Daniels so I'm very curious to see how that works I think this is going to be one of the more entertaining games of the weekend so I'll take the underdog at home give me the Mountain Ear yeah since that matchup last season won by Penn State West Virginia has won nine of their last 12 games and heading into another game at noon Eastern Time Illinois State at number 25 Iowa chip um Iowa Games went over 40 just two out of 14 times last season you've got to go for the lwh hanging fruit here do you not when have I said no to lwh hanging fruit ever I mean come on but I can actually back this up this is not performative cuz I looked at the spread and I was thinking okay you know the different ways that Iowa might want to you know show off its new look offense and then I looked at the schedule and I thought Iowa has zero motivation to show anything new because Iowa's defense might keep Illinois state from scoring the whole dag on Ball Game Chris I see this as like 27 to zero you know 30-3 this is the game where you want to shorten the game because what's on Deck Iowa State the S Hawk trophy one of the biggest games of the entire year to Iowa fans and the people in that state and so I don't think that they show off much of the new offense at all I think they want to keep this nice and easy I think they want to keep it short they want to keep it everybody healthy and then they wanted to turn their attention to week two so I am going back to the well here but really more for schedule reasons than anything else I think Iowa defense puts the clamps on the Red Birds and this one goes under the total and that shawk game you mentioned is on CBS a week from this coming Saturday uh Iowa is uh not going to have Kirk fence in this game he was suspended for a recruiting violation he'll be out not that that would matter that much let's move to a interesting uh start time here 1245 Eastern SEC Network's doing this 1245 eastern time kickoff this season so uh get used to it number 15 Tennessee 38 and a half at home against Chattanooga Danny this seems like a big day for the five-star Nico eal Eva yes it does and for the first time this season we've already had a late Switcheroo on my pick with Producer Mike saying hey wait a second I'm not so sure cuz I was going to lay him with Tennessee in the Falls you met mention Nico's big debut oh it should be offensive fireworks and it should but just like chip was talking about uh you know Iowa's big game the next week Tennessee has a little tussle with NC State the following weekend in Charlotte so I think they're going to want to stay as fresh as possible you know get Nico you know get him some comfort level get him some good some good looks get a comfortable lead and then sort of shut it down and get on to the next I think a lot of these games in week one are going to be treated like preseason they do in the NFL where you get a lot of guys their looks you get them their yards you get them their numbers and then you get them well rested so I think you'll see the backups come in the second half for the Falls Josh hypo will keep most of the star power off the field and we'll have to wait and see the full uh you know Arsenal against NC State week two so I'll take the 38 and a half points with chattan nooga and The Underdogs here on the road yeah Oklahoma State's probably not going to be that lucky because they have the toughest FCS test of the season so tough they're not even getting double they're not even laying double digit points here at home Oklahoma State chip minus 9 a half against the jack rabbits of South Dakota State and you're staying away from that spread right yeah anything under you know seven I would say I believe Oklahoma State's going to win at home by a touchdown you dance this out to nine and a half I've got to start to think about the way it's going to play out because one thing that I do feel about South Dakota state is I think they're going to be able to score in this game last season South Dakota State ranked sixth nationally at the FCS level averaging 37.3 points per game no I don't think they're going to be able to do that against an Oklahoma State Defense that has a ton of experience back from their team last year but I do think that they're going to be able to score enough to be able to take this over the total I was looking at this and thinking somewhere in the lines of you know like a a a 35 to 28 you know somewhere around there where yes South Dakota State might be able to hang in there but ultimately especially being able to catch this in the mid-50s I think the best bet for Oklahoma State and South Dakota state is that that Stellar FCS offense is going to be able to go get us enough scores to get us over the total Jack rabbit's going for a three repat this season in FCS play all right guys picking the early games on Saturday in college football up next we are going to head right to our big 10 game of the week on CBS it's Ohio State getting laying nearly 50 against akan Buckeyes getting a lot of love not just in the Big 10 but in the National scene well last season Ohio State felt that quarterback play was the one thing that was holding them back from getting over the hump and that's kind of the same question that many have of this year's team they've replaced Kyle McCord with Will Howard who was beaten out at Kansas state by Avery Johnson Buckeyes opening the season Saturday on CBS 3:30 Eastern Time against akan and it is a big half a hundy spread Danny canel and Chip Patterson here to pick this one Ohio State minus 49 and a half points in this one I know you both are picking this game chip I'll let you start us off you're telling me I've got a seven touchdown lead to start the game that that's that's all I I get seven touchdowns to start the game and I just have to defend that lead yeah give me every one of those points with the zips because this is a Preposterous spread for a game that is a preseason game for Ohio State Ohio State's best games biggest games of the year they're not even in September they can really go out there and they can just work on stuff they can just try things they can make strange substitutions that they're not going to make but akan on the other hand Joe Morehead oh yeah he can coach some ball he don't have the Personnel to go and win this game but does he have the coaching chops to go in there and at least put a scare into Ohio State maybe give us just enough so that we can bring this home in the fourth quarter when Ohio State's got the backups in there and the clock running give me the Zips and all the points you know there was a game earlier we picked and it was Missouri and they had to lay 46 and a half and if you remember I said they don't exactly have the weapons that Ohio state does so I took the dog and the points but we're talking about Ohio State chip this is one of the most star studded rosters we've ever seen and I agree with you they will take the starters out the issue is they run deep like you put you take out Quin sha Judkins you're gonna run out trayon Henderson out there you take out uh will Howard you're gonna run out Julian sa potentially or Devin Brown These are starter caliber players across the board and guess what else you want to do you want to spread the wealth keep everybody happy there's only one ball to go around I think this is an absolute beat down give me Ohio State I'll lay all those points I don't even think think akan gets it in the end zone at all Ohio State in State against akan it's been over a hundred years since Ohio States lost an instate game I think back in the 1800s they lost to an akran team that was led by coach Heisman let's go to another instate game this is actually a rivalry though number 19 Miami minus 2 and a half in Gainesville now Josh P's going to be there covering this one for us Danny this is Miami's first trip to Gainesville since Tim TBO was the quarterback back in in 2008 yeah unlike Florida State these two teams don't play each other every year like they kind of soft they don't want to go toe-to-toe they kind of save it for every once in a while but I love that we get this match up this year and we've broken this game down and I've circled it as probably one of the most compelling games of the weekend because of what's at stake for both of these teams and more specifically both of these coaches I've got a theme going through week one it is home underdogs give me the Florida Gators and the points while I still like Miami and I think they end up contending and maybe even winning the ACC at the swamp there's so much pressure on Florida backs against the wall and I do think Billy Napier's Squad is better than most people think all we've talked about is their five and a half or four and a half game win total on the season in large part due to the schedule so they don't have that many winnable games this is one of them so I think this one comes down of the wire I say Florida wins the game outright give me the Gators that is a little bit my sense as well in terms of the overall winner my my pick for this game is actually to go over the total and I'm looking at Miami two different ways number one an undoubted upgrade at the quarterback position bringing in cam Ward but also you've been able to beef up your wide receiver room you bring in Damen Martinez one of the best running backs from the Pack 12 to go with an offensive line that we know under Mario chrisal has been very very good we also have a Miami defense that has lost some key players particularly at safety and while those close to Miami swear they're going to get even better play with these next guys up I'm not ready to believe it I'm not ready to believe it in week one and I'm not ready to believe it with the way that Graham Merz was utilized and had some success as a passer some of the most success that Graham Merz has had in terms of consistency throughout his career so I think Florida's passing attack does end up being very productive in this game and I think Miami is able to score a lot more as well there are a lot of athletes on that field it is going to be hot and loose I I think this game gets a little sideways and we end up going over the total speaking of hot and loose and 330 eastern time kickoff down in Austin Texas it's the Longhorns against Colorado State and Danny Texas is laying 32 and a half points after their first playoff appearance last year yeah I would probably lean Texas with the amount of Firepower they have but you know what I love my favorite play in this game is over uh they're going against Colorado State here Braden Nichol Loi Fowler led the Mountain West last year in yards per game 22 touchdown passes but he also had 16 interceptions so one thing I know he's going to be slanging that rock all over the yard and whether it's a back toour cover at the end to push thing over or a back door pick six potentially I think you will see points cuz the one thing we do know is Texas breaking out those weapons I know they have had issues at running back but we know Quinn ERS and sarc is going to put up some offensive numbers I'll take the over in this game right there with you DK I think Colorado State can score and with Texas having Michigan on Deck you don't want to try to get in the head space of this coaching staff in the third and fourth quarter they want to score a lot early Colorado state has its chance in DKR and like you mentioned a quarterback and wide receiver the Rams have difference makers that is power conference Talent at those two positions so I think the Rams are going to be able to score enough late Texas getting it done early for us to go over the total AI weather says 92 degrees at kickoff at 2:30 local time in Austin Texas my goodness TV making him play Early let's go to Alabama they get to play a little bit later at night 700 p.m eastern time at home against Western Kentucky Danny first game of the kin dbor era the post Nick Sabin era in Tuscaloosa oh boy T J Finley uh former SEC quarterback taking the shots for the hill Toppers here for Western Kentucky just named the starter so he's familiar with it unfortunately he doesn't have much fire firep power behind him I think Alabama rolls in this game kayin dor knows I think he's already got it figured out right Alabama's fan base they're going to be restless if this thing isn't impressive he wants to make a strong first impression replacing Nick Sabin I think this is when you see him pull out all the stops I think it's just they lay the wood to Western Kentucky so I'll lay the 31 A2 this kind of feels like one of those uh weird Saturdays in November for Alabama and for ol Miss where you're welcoming in these teams that you're just going to beat up on Old Miss is hosting Ferman also at 700 PM Eastern Time CH up the line 42 and a half and for Old Miss highest preseason ranking since 1970 when Archie Manning was the quarterback yeah I'm going to go Old Miss I'm going to lay these points the key for me is the way that Old Miss has upgraded its defensive front so if you want to attack the under here I don't hate that either but then you're betting against whether the lane wants to score late ultimately I just don't think furman's going to be able to score a lot and to me Jackson Dart uh Trey Harris the way that this Old Miss passing attack is set up I feel like the rebels are going to score 45 either way so I'll just take Old Miss and I'll lay the points okay chip and Danny picking college football games every ranked team in action we are picking them against the spread this week Ohio state is one of them they are minus 49 and a half against akan and the guys are on opposite ends of it one think they'll cover one thinks they will not the Zips and the Buckey 3:30 Eastern time Saturday on CBS and streaming on Paramount plus taking a look at the Saturday late slate and one of them's on CBS UCLA minus 145 at Hawaii that's a 7:30 p.m. eastern time kick we also have a couple other highly ranked Big 10 teams teams in action Oregon number three hosting Idaho Michigan the defending champs number nine hosting Fresno State chip Patterson and Danny canel are back and it's UCLA at Hawaii the look Hawaii has already played they they won their opener by 21 points against Delaware State chip do you think that factors into this year with UCLA laying 14 and a half absolutely for several reasons number one on the common sense side they've already gotten all the you know butterflies out they've already br broken out the Jitters the other thing that they've done is they have already gotten everybody a little bit of run so they are not taxed at all uh what Timmy Chang did is he went very very deep into all of his different position rooms basically everyone got to go out there and play against Delaware State and when you saw what they were doing in terms of the way that they approached that game as heavy favorites where they did not cover it certainly seems that they also have their eyes here on the UCLA matchup so with a favorable number of 14 and a half I like being able to take Hawaii here because I do think that they were saving a little bit of something schematically and certainly saving something from the Personnel standpoint as well with the way that everybody got to play in the opener let those children sing chip give me the Rainbow Warriors as well totally agree with you Braden shagger fifth year senior quarterback third year as the starting quarterback very comfortable in the system and UCLA has a lot of moving Parts new offensive coordinator with Eric enemy DeShaun Foster era gets off to a start they just want to get out with a win I think they get it but over two touchdowns is too many points Danny's got a Rainbow Warriors helmet in his office here at HQ new he'd be going with Hawaii let's go to UT Martin at Kansas State 7 p.m. eastern time on Saturday Danny Avery Johnson Heisman hype train start right now Heisman hype train I I think let's just start it off and say you know what let's make sure Avery Johnson looks the part right there's been so much hype around this young man I think they do get it done I think it starts off strong Ohio State's going to put up big numbers with Will Howard and I think Chris kman might take a peek at that scoreboard and say you know what let's make sure we handle our business because I don't want anybody second to guessing the decision that I've made to go with Avery Johnson so I think Kansas City rolls UT Martin I'll go ahead and lay the 37 and a half Avery Johnson over will Howard who then went to Ohio State and is now the starting quarterback for the Buckeyes let's go to the defending Champion Michigan Wolverines ranked number nine in the country minus 212 against Fresno and Chip at the time of this segment recording on Tuesday we still don't know who the starting quarterback is going to be for the Wolverines y hey as we are sitting here recording this segment on a Tuesday I think it's going to be Alex orgy I think you might see multiple quarterbacks I think Michigan will handily have an advantage in the way the game is playing out but do not think that they're going to blow Fresno State out of the water on the scoreboard and that's what we're counting on when it comes to covering the spread which is why I am going to say unders in the 40s for your shorties we are going to go under the total of 45 and a half CU I don't know how many points the Bulldogs are going to be able to score and I think that Michigan is not going to feel the need to press or put their quarterback who again I think is going to be Alex orgy in a position to make a mistake that means a lot of running the football that means a lot of the clock running and I think this is a shortened possession game because on Michigan schedule there are not many teams that are going to be able to block the combination of Mason Graham and Kenneth Grant along with the rest of this Michigan defensive front I think Michigan unders are going to be a huge play as Chiron Moore wants to bring Smash as the identity of this team that leads to lower scoring games so I'm going to start right here week one Michigan under a lot of question marks at quarterback for some of the top teams in the Big 10 like Michigan like Ohio State not Oregon the ducks have the preseason Heisman favorite Dylan Gabriel and Danny they're opening up with Idaho minus 44 and a half in Eugene similar to My Philosophy with Ohio State I think this team is not only good I think it's deep and I think Dan Lanning wants to go out there and put on an absolute show Dylan Gabriel I don't think there'll be much BR drop off at all in offensive production with him calling the shots taking over B Knicks I think he has a Heisman type performance and yes I do think numbers will come into play well they'll want to get him his stats early this season when there's the opportunity that to have those Idaho comes into a hornets nest here I think Oregon gets it done I'll lay the 44 and A2 okay we're talking late night Saturday night and it is Big 12 after dark yeah New Mexico at Arizona number 21 in the land and Chip we we watched New Mexico play week zero now they they blew a 17-point fourth quarter lead but like Hawaii they they have a game under their belt do you like that getting 31 and a half what we learned uh really with New Mexico and then with Nevada later was a little bit of how hard it is to learn how to win especially when you've been bad for a while but I don't need New Mexico to learn how to win Chris I just need them to learn how to cover they did it against Montana State and I think that they're going to do it right here once again I'm going to take New Mexico and all these points because you bring back Noah faf you bring back tedo and McMillan but this is still an Arizona roster that lost a lot of key pieces starters on both sides of the ball uh to Washington when Jed fish left I think Brent Brennan is a terrific coach loved what he did at San Jose State but I think that New Mexico especially after seeing the way the Lobos started the Bronco menen Hall era in week zero I think they can stay within 30 points so uh give me the big dog right here don't need to learn how to win just learn how to cover and you got a bunch of points to do that in Tucson chip Danny you're going to come back in just a second we have more games to pick including the biggest games of the weekend the double header on Saturday starts with Ohio State acran and ends with UCLA first game as a member of the Big 10 in Hawaii to take on those rainbows at 7:30 eastern time the Rainbow Warriors let's hit the ranked matchup shall we we have three of them including a couple on neutral fields Best Bets presented by FanDuel America's number one sports book make every moment more and we save the best for last the three ranked matchups we're going to pick every one of them two of them on quote unquote NE neutral Fields Clemson and Georgia in Atlanta uscl LSU in Vegas Texas A&M will have the home field in College Station against Notre Dame Danny canel and Chip Patterson are here to pick these games against the spread let's start with the noon eastern time kickoff on Saturday in Atlanta number 14 Clemson number one Georgia and Danny this is the most points that dbo and Clemson have gotten since 2012 but is it enough yes I think it is I love this game so much it's so big I have two plays in this one I actually like Clemson getting this many points I think it's too many I think the defense is what's going to keep him in this game there's a lot of question marks yes for Kade kumnick in year two of the system you know is Bryant Westco going to be that wide receiver and what do they do without will Shipley I think they'll be fine I think it'll take some time and going against Georgia's defense isn't easy but I think Clemson's defense is going to give Georgia's offense some hard times as well don't forget Carson Beck's fa favorite targets his security blanket and Brock Bowers is gone llad mcon is gone and yes there's still a boatload of talent but I do think Clemson will make this a defensive uglier game so I think a lower scoring Affair I like the under and I like Clemson with those almost two touchdowns those 13 and a 12 points are just too tempting for me so I'll go ahead and take the Tigers in the under I am uh going to attack the total and I'm going to agree and this this is the first time this season I get to invoke one of my favorites which is bgd that is big game Dabo Dabo Sweeney in the biggest games has been very comfortable especially when he doesn't have Trevor Lawrence a quarterback to be able to just try to get get this thing to the fourth quarter and see if the Tigers can go and make plays to lean on a defensive line that's incredibly physical and talented and I do think that Clemson's got the best defense in the ACC and maybe one of the better defenses in the entire country they threw a lot of freshman and sophomores into the fire at the early part of last year and then at the end of last year they started playing better weird right young players learning on the Georgia and I think Clemson's defense tries to keep this thing close so that Kade kumnick doesn't have to start dropping back there and heaving it down the field trying to make up a deficit so the game plan for Clemson is to shorten the game Run it with Phil mafa get it to the fourth quarter to keep it close and I think that sets up for an under on the total Georgia going for their 40th straight regular season win that would be the longest since Oklahoma in the 1950s that one is at noon eastern time on Saturday let's go to night time 7:30 Eastern number 7 Notre Dame at number 20 A&M Mike elco's debut in College Station chip and A&M is the two and a half Point favorite here favorite play of the week Texas A&M lay them take it alt Line run that thing up as high as you want to push the slider because we saw Notre Dame step chart it was released this week it got a lot of new faces out there obviously NFL players that are gone injuries and fall Camp what it's left us with is that among the five starters on the week 1 depth chart they have six combined career starts now we're going to send this new Young and fresh Notre Dame offensive line into Kyle Field going up against a Texas A&M defensive line that might be one of the best in the SEC that oh by the way just got Nick scorton from Purdue one of the best pass rushers in the country last season and who's that new head coach for Texas A&M was it maybe the head coach of Riley Leonard for the last two years who knows how to stop Riley Leonard better than Mike Elco I also go back to Duke's debut last season and the way that they played against Clemson hair on fire so prepared Mike Elko is a plus value coach that is worth a win and a half on Texas A&M's win total compared to where they were last year and it starts with the big win against the Irish chip your confidence terrifies me because I feel the exact same way like is it this easy because it I mean I and I agree with almost every single point you make I will just add Conor wigman the quarterback for texus A&M has looked awesome every time he's been healthy so I guess that's my one concern is if anything happens to him but I love the higher of offensive coordinator Colin Klein the former Kansas State quarterback who I think will maximize what Conor wigman brings to the table but for a lot of the same reasons that you gave including Mike Elco going against his former quarterback who he saw in practice every single day knows some of his deficiencies and I think he exposes him give me the aies at Kyle Field and you better get it quick because I think this thing could move over a field goal but as you said alt line I'm kind of on board with you this my favorite play of the weekend and they need wan to step it up uh in this one he was uh not great in power five games a season ago but injured in that game against Auburn when healthy he is good let's go to Vegas shall we it's USC and LSU the tigers are the favorites here minus 4 1/2 the total is a a high 63 1/2 we know how both of these teams are having to replace a Heisman winning quarterback but chip we also know the bigger questions on both of these teams on the other side of the ball yeah we got defensive coordinators for both of these teams new offensive coordinator for LSU the departure of the quarterbacks as you've mentioned I I'm going to go back to something that I think is kind of brewing and bubbling beneath the surface and that is is that USC might be a little bit closer to that top four in the Big 10 than they are the middle pack and this is an opportunity uh for the Trojans to be able to prove me right here and it all starts with Miller moss and it starts with his ability to pick apart in LSU secondary that while you've changed over the staff um bringing in Blake Baker from Missouri uh you haven't really fixed the Personnel on the field and so I think that Miller moss and the way that they're going to be able to spread out LSU's defense the way that Lincoln is going to be able to help him you know game plan ways to find the right matchup advantages the playmaking of a a Zack Branch or a dece Robinson I I like the Trojans plus the points and I I don't hate the Trojans to win it outright also I'm with you chip I like USC here as well Lincoln Riley I think he's going to expose that defense you know it's going to be interesting both new coordinators what do they show up with and as hard as it is because I think this is one of the hardest bets to make but sometimes these you got to show some guts to make some money I'm fade what everybody thinks is the popular pick I'm going to go under the total because I do think new defensive coordinators I think you'll see some new looks that could confuse the opposing offense but this one will be a hang on to the C of your pants because I think it'll be close to that number I could see you know a 3128 type of game but I like USC in this one as well Danny showing some showing some real guts some real fortitude something we did not see from his former team a week ago the the Florida state seminal going all the way across the pond to Ireland and losing to Georgia Tech will make Danny relive it one more time and FSU got to get back on the horse they're playing Monday the Lan game on Labor Day 7:30 Eastern Time against Boston College Danny this line has steamed up to 17 and a half at do what do you think lay them lay them all day long this is the this is to get it out of your system game I just saw a clip of Mike norell talking to the team challenging him but in all sincerity I do think the game wasn't as bad as you think it was it never is when you go back and watch the film there were plays to be made there were a lot of Corrections that need to be made but most importantly I think dju is not the biggest part of the problem and I think the one thing that Mike norell will address in this game he will have to cut dju loose if they had won that game I think you could have taken some solace in the fourth down convers where DJ had to come through make some big throws and he did I think maybe that one over Mike norell somewhat they have to challenge the secondary they have to challenge the Deep ball I think they do I think the defense plays much better so I'll go ahead and lay him with Florida State at home yeah new coaching staff for Boston College Bill O'Brien coming in there and if Bill O'Brien allows that quarterback Thomas castalanos to be able to get loose he might have some of the same success running the football that Georgia Tech quarterback Haynes K did against this Florida State Defense no doubt something that they're trying to fix and take care of here but to me the the main reason that I am confident in my pick and that's by the way going over the total is that Florida State I think it's going to have a lot more success offensively I think that was a game where you know they learned what they could and could not do they learned their strengths and weaknesses in a way that maybe wasn't exposed in Fall camp and I think Mike Norvell is a top 10 coach in college football for a reason because he's going to be able to grade that and he's going to be able to make sure the seminal are better prepared for success I don't think that Boston Co Boston College has the same kind of personnel on defense that Georgia Tech does and I don't think they've got the kind of defensive coaching that Georgia Tech does so I think Florida State puts up a big number I think Boston College thanks to Thomas castalano scores a bit as well I don't want to sweat 17 and a half so let's just go over the total games all over the place on Labor Day weekend Monday Sunday Saturday Friday and they'll get going on Thursday with four ranked
