but all right guys let's dive into this Clemson offense and my goal here today is to to give you the most comprehensive indepth breakdown of this Clemson offense that a Georgia fan is going to find anywhere that's the goal it'll be up to you to decide whether I meet that goal or not but that's what I'm shooting for here I've been in the lab All Summer Long watching and charting every single game that Clemson played last year against Power of five opponents most of them multiple times so I put together a lot of cups of film from last year to illustrate everything that I'm going to say today so you might not agree I I'm sure there's gonna be some Clemson fans that find this video I'm sure a lot of you Clemson fans will not agree with what I had to say about the Clemson offense I think if you're being honest with yourself you might agree more than you think but hey agree or not I've got the cups I've got the tape to back it up and look guys I do I have a lot of respect for this Clemson program are they getting somewhat disrespected coming to this game I think you can argue that to a degree I personally do think they will pose more of a challenge for Georgia in this week one matchup than I think the average Georgia fan does but it's also very true that when you look at this Clemson offense it has been a minute since Clemson has fielded anything remotely close to a good or really even competent offense and you can look at the numbers right here over the past three years Clemson has only cracked the top 50 nationally in to offense one year and that was barely inside the top 50 at number 48 have not averaged more than 4 110 yards a game offensively in those last three years Georgia for example averaged 496 yards per game last year yards per play is even worse so from an efficiency standpoint the picture is even worse for Clemson they have not finished higher than 72 nationally over the last three years nationally uh with 5.6 yards per per play their highest yards per play output in the last three seasons they did finish 30th nationally in 2022 in scoring offense but were back down the 52nd nationally last year under 30 points per game passing offense has been a problem 84th in 2021 51st and 22 last year back to 63rd yards per rush I mean they tried to lean more on the run last year when you have will Shipley and Phil mafa but they weren't especially efficient and a lot of it goes back the passing game not being overly effective teams have to respect the pass as much they only 65th nationally in yards per Rush last year their offensive fbii has not been higher than 5 Nation they have not cracked the top 50 in FEI in the last three seasons following the 2022 season dbos swiy made the decision to fire offensive coordinator Brandon streer who had a long history of the program played for Clemson and brought in the hottest offensive name out there in the country and Garrett Riley who was fresh off taking TCU to the college football national championship game where yes they got sarily destroyed by Georgia but he was a major part of getting them there however as you just saw there in 2023 the offensive numbers for Clemson really across the board dropped from where they were in 2022 now not precipitously but there was a drop there certainly was no improvement in the Clemson offense from 22 to 23 despite paying a lot of money to bringing a guy like Garrett Riley and making that big splash doing something very have to get worse before they get better when you bring in a new coordinator in Garrett Riley who is now going into a second year in this system with a seconde starter at quarterback in klubnik and you also have to factor in last year guys that this Clemson team at large and certainly the Clemson offense was handicapped by injuries to some of their most important players that's something you have to talk about that's just fact that's undeniable so when you look back and you talk about this 2023 2023 and offense you have to take that into consideration however saying that there still are some questions that I very much have about this Clemson offense going into the 2024 season and we are going to get to those guys we have a lot of time today to talk about all those questions that I still have but let's just start with the basics of this Garrett Riley offense this scheme now Riley originally comes from the Mike Leech air raid tree but like his brother Lincoln he has deviated from the the OG air raid the pure air raid form he does not run a pure version of the air raid there are certainly a lot of air raid principles in this offense but it is not Mike leech's OG version of the air raid like Lincoln like Lincoln riy he liberally incorporates the Run game you go back to TCU in 2022 when they did make that run to the college ball national championship game they were 55% run at TCU 55 run 45 pass that was their the Run pass splits last year at Clemson they threw the ball a little bit more but not much they were still run heavy 53% run 47% pass last year for Clemson in year one under uh G Riley so he has a more run heavy scheme now it is not an overly run heavy scheme but this is not a Mike Leech area Mike leech's run splits run P splits be like 9010 so he has taken Mike leech's principles and kind of modernize them incorporate the Run they do a lot of 12 personel guys Mike Lee didn't even run a tight end he never had a tight end he didn't use tight ends but not only does Garrett riy and linol Riley use a tight end Garrett Riley will use 12 person l so it's it is air raid and it's like base form certainly from a principal standpoint but it's not that pure version of air raid and when you look at Garrett Riley's run scheme that he has incorporated into his version of the aay it is very similar to what Lincoln riy runs at Oklahoma now USC which kind of makes sense and their run scheme really consists of three B base plays now they will throw in some QB Run game they'll throw in maybe a fly sweep here or there just to keep you honest occasionally and they'll dress up these three run plays they'll dress them up they'll run from different formations they'll run them out at a different Personnel groupings they'll use motion and it would it might look like a different Run play on the surface but it's really three basic plays all right and those three plays are a a gap scheme counter SL power they'll run a counter with really the only difference there's there's a false counter step in the counter power looks the exact same way it's a GT power really which is what Lincoln R kind of popularized that Oklahoma ran against us a lot as you'll see in one of our Clips here uh in the 2017 Rose Bowl game where you're pulling your guard and tackle and you're just blocking down and you're kicking out right so classic Gap scheme counter power then you have Duo which is really predicated on getting as many double teams as you possibly can we'll take a look at that here in a second and then split Zone which has become a very popular play across the country uh a spread running play essentially now which one of those three BAS run plays in this Garett Riley offensive scheme this run scheme is featured that differs week to week based on the opponent and based on the game plan but it's really those three plac you got a gap scheme power counter you got Duo and you got split zone so let's take take a look at each of those in action and kind of break down this Clemson run scheme the first of these three core plays in Clemson's run scheme under Garrett Riley at least that we saw a year ago that we going to break down here today is the GT power GT standing for guard tackle power and it's a very basic Gap scheme play that has become very popular over the past five six seven years really it was back like in 2017 was the first time that I really saw this become more of a mainstream Run play Lincoln Riley Garrett's brother at Oklahoma at the time now at USC he ran this a ton in 2017 when during his time in Oklahoma we saw it a lot in the Rose Ball when we played Oklahoma I broke that play down back then all those years ago but here we're going to see it again against this Clemson team with Garrett Riley taking this from his brother and implementing this now in the Clemson offense and the scheme up front is very simple guys you're going to see it's just really old school Power with the guard and Tackle pulling that's really what this is so the front side here they're going to block down and this front side tackle playside tackle is going to come up here he's going to come to the second level and he's going to seal off that backside linebacker and they're going to leave the defensive in here unblocked let's clear that a little bit this dude is going to be unblocked initially right and then you're going to have the guard pull through he's going to kick out that defensive end and you're going to have the tackle pull through and he's going to in effect be a lead blocker for the running back now you can run this p you can run this counter the only difference is counter you're going to be aligned to the to the quarterback's or you're going to be aligned opposite of the plays side and you're going to take that false counter step that's really it the blocking up front the scheme up front is the exact same it's just put a little window dressing on it but let's go ahead and watch this play out in action nice little gain here for Clemson they love this play guard pull through kick out tackle leading up you get a nice eight n yard gain there all right now here this is a little different okay now this is the same play but one thing that Garrett riy does very well he does very well at TCU I know he did it very well at TCU because I broke them down when we played them for the national championship game in that 2022 season but he does a great job of taking just a a couple of core plays and making it seem like you might have three core plays makes it seem like it's like 10 or 11 different plays because you're running them out of different Personnel groupings different formations you're using different motions you're you're using the window dressing you're trying to get the the defense's eyes in the wrong place get them out of their alignment caus them to bust and by large it's effective but if you know what you're looking for you shouldn't have too many issues here here now one thing that I did notice through my film study of this Clemson offense a year ago now you can't say it's 100% but more often than not I would say the vast majority of the time you see them aligned in this formation here we got the HB back and the the running back line on the same side and then you have this receiver the slot receiver coming in motion towards the HB if they run the football the vast majority of the time they are running this Gap scheme power whether it's power or counter they're running it back to the opposite side more often than not now a split Zone which we'll get to a little bit it's a little bit different when they go in motion away from the HB that is a tell that it is more often not going to be split Zone we'll get that in a little bit so again like they might clean that up they might done some self scouting but me just doing my my amateur scouting in the offseason that's certainly something I picked up on watching all these games many many times throughout the offseason but let's see this play out you can see the guard pull through he's he's going to kick out and then you're going to see The Tackle pull through as the lead blocker GT power now this one against Flor State it's not going to be a huge game I put this one in here for a reason because I wanted you to see one way teams try to defend this and this is you know not unique to Florida State this is how a lot of teams tried to defend this so if you are running this Gap scheme here right and you're pulling to the front side the play side and what you're doing again like you're blocking down right blocking down you're going to seal this guy and then you're going to have the guard pulled through he's kicking out tackle's going to pull through probably ideally going to lead up on that guy well how do you outnumber them right because that's It's All About Numbers right it's a numbers game so how can you outnumber the box we have this safety scream up that's what's going to happen you're going to see the snap this safety the playside safety is going to come screaming at the snap he's unaccounted for all right now floor state will outnumber them the box it's tough to run those situations unless you have running back that's going to make this guy Miss if you have that guy he's probably go to the NFL which maybe Phil mafa can Phil mafa has got some really good feet we'll see that later on when we get uh to um some of the split Zone stuff so Florida State's going to come screaming here and that's fine now if you're Clemson if you're Gary riy what you have to do is if Florida state starts doing that any team starts doing that you got to RPO the heck out of that guy all right so you got to throw rpos behind him you can throw take some play action shots down the seam you got to make them pay unfortunately for Clemson last year they simply did not not have an effective enough passing game to threaten defenses when they would play them like this that's why they're ring they had good backs guys I mean Phil mafa is a great running back will Shipley very good running back for Clemson you have a mobile quarterback that can do some things in the Run game their run game should have been far more effective than it was last year but it wasn't because they could not make defenses consistently pay when they did things like this screaming up towards line inrim and trying to outnumber Clemson in the Box all right so we'll see this one play out and then watch another play from Florida State where they don't scream up he's outnumbered no one blocks him no one's there to block him so you know that's what a two yard game now this one against Florida State safety stay back right now Florida state does not have the numbers advantage in the box and this is where for Georgia this is what Georgia has been so effective doing the past three four years and I think one of the keys to our run to those back-to-back national titles I think the key to our run to back-to-back national titles we have been able to defend the run to dominate our opponent's Run game with even numbers in the Box why why are we so effective against Tennessee slowing down that that high power Josh hyp offense while he's dropping 50 burgers and everybody else because we can stop the run game with even numbers in the box that that Tennessee offense is entirely predicated on a numbers count if they have numbers in the box they're going to run the football if they don't they're going to throw the football so if we can defend the numbers or defend the the run in the box with even numbers that means we play a two high safety shell and we don't give Tennessee or in this case Clemson any of those one-onone matchups they're trying to create down the field to take those explosive vertical shots we don't allow that so Florida State right here they're trying to play this with even numbers but they did not successfully defend this now this is my one concern this year in this game all right and it was a concern last year are we still good enough upfront to be able to contain the Run game with even numbers in the box if the answer is yes against Clemson we win this game very comfortably if it's no and they have some success run the football and we have to start bringing safeties into the box like Florida state did well all of a sudden now it becomes a little bit more concerning now I still need to see it from k club does he have the ability to make us pay this year now as a second year starter in a way that he didn't really last year if he can do that then we're in trouble if he still can't make us pay then we're fine but it's going to be important guys I am concerned with all the injuries that we have up from I love Nas stos I love Christian Miller I'm glad that Warren brinson's getting back healthy and that that we should be solid there with our top four but zavier McLoud doesn't look like he's going to play we know Jordan Hall is out so our dep is hurting right now on the interior of our defensive line I love our linebackers but interior defensive line could be problematic at times again I like our top end guys but if we have to get deeper in the dep chart to get those guys to blow we're probably we're probably playing true freshman and that is a bit concerning but you see right here against even numbers Florida state gets gashed the same play right and look Phil mafa we're going to talk about this a little bit later love the guy I think he's he's a really really good running back look at the vision there and the patience the patience to let this play set up he does this so well let them get on front and then boom turn it on now here's the thing with foffa he's great for about 20 yards he is not a he is not a burner man he's not like if you got a I don't know like Nate Fraser for us this year or Deon j s back on the day that he's houseing that right Phil mafa can't house it will shle probably the house that but hey still a huge game and he helps make that play by his vision so he'll bite off these chunks like that but taking it you know 60 70 yards that's not what Phil moff is going to do so a very effective very good running back all right here against Kentucky you're going to see the same thing this is just not from an h-back formation just inline tight end there's Phil m again run this play really effectively man kick lead good feat man good feat for a big back all right NC State game they lost last year here's what I'm talking about again right here second time we've seen this you have your slot receiver this case Tyler Brown coming in motion towards the HB if they run the football when they come in this alignment in this formation and this motion at least last year the vast majority of the time they are running power or counter back to this side right that's going be the play side and it's just another example of that kick pull there's Phil mafa just pounding big back dude big powerful back and I I just I put this play in here to show you guys what I was talking about earlier here's Oklahoma running this against Us in the 2017 Rose bow we've seen this a lot this is not a play that Garrett riy created obviously and I'm not going to say it's a play Lincoln riy created Lincoln Riley certainly popularized this play they had a good a good amount of success running running this against us back in 2017 now we've done a much better job adjusting this in recent years but you can see the same thing Right Guard tackle pulling kick lead run back good patience good Vision buess it for 20 yards all right now this one this is so you see the same blocking scheme this is counter right see they got the false counter step there's F mafa just run this play really well again but he doesn't have that burst right great vision great vision to see where that hole opens up but man look at all that room look at all that room really strong running back but dude like how how do you not take that the distance man he just doesn't have that extra gear all right now here we're going to get into Duo now Duo is a a a play that's also becoming much more popular look this is a play that it's been people been running this for since the dawn of time when it comes to football at all levels but they don't always call it Duo necessarily but Duo basically just means double teams guys they're just trying to get as many double teams as they possibly can up front and there are a number of different rules with with Duo I'm not going to go into all the rules here we do a whole different episode just breaking down how Duo works but in a nutshell if you look to your inside Gap and you're as an offensive linan and there's no one in the Gap inside of you then you are looking to double team with the guy to your opposite side right and you're trying to get those double teams up to the linebackers and the running back is going to so right here Phil mafa is going to read the playside linebacker he's going to take a a track initially straight towards the playside linebacker and then he's going to change his track based on the movement of the linebacker so if the linebacker flows this way then mafa is just going to keep it right here if the linebacker tries to fill the a gap the mafa is going to bend it outside so you're going to take a track at the linebacker make him commit one way or the other and then you basically play off that leverage and it's a really effective play if you have big maulers up front we run a lot of Duo guys if you have big maulers up front you want to get as many double teams as possible you can just blow teams off the ball and this is another of those three core run plays that Clemson ran a a lot last year I don't think they ran it as much as they ran the GT power GT counter stff but they also run ran this play a lot you're going to see them get a ton of double teams here up front this is like back in the day we would call this like a dive now they call it Duo but you're GNA see the double team I think you're gonna have double teams right here these two guys I think these two guys are going to double team and they're just trying to get push they're getting veral the and Duo and inside Zone look very similar but the difference is Duo you're getting vertical you're getting way more vertical than you are in inside Zone and you're trying to get up to those linebackers you know somebody's going to break off the double team and eventually get to the linebacker you to that second level but I mean you're just trying to physically dominate your opponent the double teams up front fil moff always also runs this really well because he's a big strong back here's another example of Duo against Notre Dame show see the double teams again you got the center and back back side guard double teaming and then you're going to have the guard tackle front side double teaming so we can see these two right here are going to double team this guy guard tackle double team right there just getting push getting vertical and pretty good movement this Clemson offensive line last year guys was much better than they had been in the recent years it's not the same Clinton offens line that we face in 2021 where they just could not block us man man we embarrassed them they're still not Elite but they're they're better than they were you see again one more time double teams there all right next up here let's get to split zone and right off the bat it's exactly what I was telling you guys about all right first off let's just make sure everyone understands what split zone is I think most of us do but just in case you don't split zone is similarish to inside zone so the offensive line is all they're all going to block Zone this way right they're going to take Zone blocking steps this way you're kind of trying to wash the defense down opposite direction right in this case though you're going to have the the backside defense or this defensive end right here he's going to be unblocked and you're going to have the HB who's going to come across the line of scrimmage and he is going to kick out that defensive end especially the defensive end gets up the field it's an easy kick out and the running back should be able to find that Gap right there and have a pretty nice hole to run through and they run split Zone a ton but this is what I was talking about no let's go back remember how I told you guys if the slot receiver comes in motion towards the tight end more often than not they're running guard tackle power GT power or counter however in this situation where the HB and the slot receiver are initially aligned to the same side and this slot receiver goes in motion away from the tight end the vast majority of the time they are running split Zone as you're going to see right here here just a little a little tell I picked up throughout that OB and film study you're going to see same thing here against n Dame in motion away from tight end split Zone away from tight end split zone now this one is a little different this another example of how er Riley will just run the same play just do it with different motions different formations and this there's no h backback initially lined up here the first couple place we saw HB backs right there's no HB back here no HB back you have a tight end right here who was lined up initially in the slot he's coming in motion at the snap and he is even though he wasn't lined up as an h-back initially right here because this is where he'd be lined up he was an HB back right he's initially lined up right here well he's coming in motion so by the time the ball is snapped he's basically where an HB would have been and he's still going to serve as the split Zone guy still going to kick out this guy offensive line still blocking down still trying to wash defense down and he's going to come across and he's going to kick out this defensive in it's the same thing it's the same thing as split Zone it the presentation is just different and this is one thing Garrett Riley does really well again it's three or four base run plays but it looks like a lot more because they do it from different formations different motions and you got to give the guy credit he did that really well at TCU and he's done it really well at Clemson same thing man same thing all right against s Dame here's the same like all right so once again no HB back initially tight end comes in motion from the slot he's still serving as an HB back even though he was not initially aligned as an HB back all right now let's get into some of the quarterback run game so we've gone through the base the three base plays core running plays in this Clemson run scheme with the GT power with the uh with duo in Split Zone those are the three base plays that's not it they will throw some QB run stuff cuz K kutnick is an athletic quarterback guys now he I wouldn't say he's a Dynamic Athlete he's not Jaylen milro level athletic but he's more than capable of keeping defenses honest and hurting defenses with his legs if you do not account for him in the Run game they do in a couple different way so they'll just run some basic Zone read stuff here where they're going to leave backside defensive in unblocked he's going to read him if he crashes on the running back clck will pull if he stays out wide to take the quarterback then club's going to hand off right very very basic you've seen this for 20 years now in college football so he's going to re he reads that's a pull read 100% a pull read now the issue for Clemson here now he he actually again this is a great play by him it's a good athlete but Miami had this played really well so what they did is kind of a scrape exchange here so what is a scrape exchange typically you see a scrape exchange with the defensive end linebackers so traditionally like back in the day when I played football it was the linebacker that had the Dive Right and the defensive in had the quarterback well Zone Reed made that complicated right because now the quarterback is just reading off that that defensive end and it's tough for the defense to be right so how how did defenses counteract that well one of the original ways they decided to counteract this is they would basically just exchange roles the defensive end would crash right and take the dive which is traditional what the running back the linebacker would do so now the quarterback reads that he's like oh I got two guys in the dive I got to pull this and I got to I'm going to have all this room well he doesn't know they've exchanged roles so now the linebacker is going to play over the top and he's got the quarterback who'll be sitting right there when the quarterback pulls it now offenses have gotten smart to that and what they what have they done to counteract that well RPO right RPO because now if the if the quarterback or the linebacker comes over the top well you might have a slot receiver coming right here running a quick little slant and now there's no one there and the quarterback just throws the ball right there rpos have kind of level the playing field once again well defenses here here's the give and take what are defens is doing now they're still running scrape exchange but instead with the line backer they're running Scrap Exchange right here with the defensive tackle so the end's going to crash on the running back that's a pull read for Club he he makes the r re but what Miami has done give him credit this is great defensive scheming here they are going to now basically just Arc the defensive end here or that defensive tackle they're going to Arc him outside and now he's going to be see there for the quarterback now the problem is the quarterback's just way more athletic than the defensive tackle and he just makes him look stupid but the scheme is sound but good play by cuck there all right now this one is going to be another Zone re RPO is going to be attached here so he had the option kumnick had the option here to throw you'll see it right here let me run this it's essentially a triple option so he has the first option to handoff he doesn't like that re he's been crashing so he's going to pull it but now you had the second and they they'll do at least last year they did some two running back quite a bit of two running back sets without Shi this year we'll see but now he's reading this guy if this defense Defender right here if he come if he crashes on Club Nick to take that run then kumnick is going to Dish the ball out to Shipley here in the flat but when the defender takes Shipley kck's goingon to have room and now he's going to keep that football it's modern triple option football here we go now this is Zone Reed but this is Zone Reed with a the lead blocker so to me I think this is a called quarterback I don't think he's reading anything here because you have the tight end arcing The Arc block leading the way for the quarterback and there's I mean Club he's a good athlete man not Jay Mill real level but good athlete and he's also a weapon in the Red Zone they they'll pull out the quarterback run game a lot in the red zone to get numbers advantages you can see that right here against Wake Forest but that's not the only run play they'll run they'll run a little quarterback draw as you you see right there with the quarterback I actually a little quarterback counters what that was let's go back look at that one more time yeah that's counter right because you're going to see guard pull kick tackle it's going to pull and Lead quarterbacks just in effect acting as a running back and the running back's now an extra blocker just another way to get numbers Edge in the box now this one is going to be true Bonafide QB draw but good athletic quarterback so that's the Clemson run scheme now from a Personnel standpoint it's 100% going to be the Phil mafa Show at running back for Clemson this year I have zero questions about that he's a Georgia kid a Grayson product Powerhouse Grayson High School here in the state of Georgia Gwynette County not too far from where I grew up and he's a big b guys 61230 if you're looking for a comp for you Georgia fans out there he's very Rod Robinson esque in terms of just his physical build also his running style he's a physical Runner he runs through contact has great contact balance now he's not a burner big dude he's got good enough speed but he's not a guy that's going to house one for 60 plus now he can buy off a 20 30 yard chunk he can do that there's plenty of examples of him doing that last year but 60 plus chances are someone's going to catch him he's just not that type of home run speed back but he's got really really good feet he very agile for a guy that size also has really good feel just really good feel for the position really patient strong vision for a running back I have no questions about him he's an awesome running back he's going to be very very good for Clemson this year he is going to be their bellal zero questions there the question for Clemson at the running back position is more about the depth behind mafa what is the quality of that depth in that running back room because there's no more will Shipley guys will Shipley was their feature back really since his freshman year and now he's gone off the NFL he thought about coming back for another year but he decided to go off the NFL a part of that was was Phil mafa Phil mafa really started to emerge as last season were R part of that is because will Shipley dealt with a lot of injuries last year was the NC State game I believe he was going in for a touchdown right there on the goal line and kind of got crunched in and his neck got bent and kind of went into the ground missed a couple games there I think it was a concussion it came back against Kentucky uh played that game in the bowl game and then got hurt in that game on a return a nice return down the sideline so he still a lot of injuries and give mafa credit he took advantage of the opportunities and as the season went on he got better and better and better and became much more of a featured part of what Clemson was doing and that momentum will carry over to this year guy he's he is going to be the feature guy but if you look at the depth behind him according to my calculations now someone can correct me if I'm wrong here but based on what I could find no other running back on that roster on the depth chart has more than 14 career carries that's not to say one of those guys can't step up and emerge Georgia might be counting a guy like Nate Frasier or using Nate Frasier a lot early in the year and that guy has zero career carrier say he is a true freshman will Shipley back in 2021 he started against us he played a lot against us you guys remember that game to open the 2021 season he got a lot of carries as a true freshman so it's not to say that somebody can't step up and be a good option behind Phil mafa but they don't have that strength that one-w punch at the top like they did last year with Will Shipley and Phil mafa so my question there is all right fil off is great but how much of a load can that guy take are you going to wear him down like who's going to and if if you want to give him a breather how much of a drop off is there when you bring somebody else in those are questions that Clemson's gonna have to answer this year because they have a chance to win this game against Georgia it's probably going to be a close game in the fourth quarter that they try to win late right so they're going to need Phil mafa to be fresh and strong and ready to roll and do his thing in the fourth quarter but if this guy is getting 25 or so carries through the first three quarters they don't have any quality they really trust behind him he might not be in position to be the guy they need him to be late in the game I think that's a question they have the answer again maybe they have the answer they just don't have the proven Commodities there behind Phil maofa but maof is great and he will be their guy this year so that's the Clemson Run game now let's move things over to the Clemson pass game all right their pass game last year guys was extremely conservative they threw the ball 47% of the time but would they threw it man especially as the season progressed it just seemed like they weren't even trying to push the ball down the field and if there are some Clemson fans watching this if if you found this video look be honest with yourselves you know I'm right you watch the games you you were you watching them all last year I spent the offseason going back watching them late in the year they really were not trying to push the ball down the field vertically and they were they were really heavy on the short and intermediate range emphasis on the short game heavy heavy screen game last year guys and that's that's part of the a that's a Mike Leech thing Mike Leech is one of the guys really brought the spread screen game into into popularity and certainly other coaches from his tree and outside of his tree have taken that and and expounded upon it but gett Riley was Heavy with the screen game last year that was to receivers that was to running backs will shley was a major part of what they did in the screen game uh in terms of other pass concept Concepts a lot of of slant Cur uh slant curl con or slant flat Concepts I should say a lot of curl flat Concepts basic basic short game stuff guys a lot of that was was a was in their uh their uh their passing scheme last year exceedingly few vertical shots they just didn't take them and if you don't believe me if you want to challenge me on that I got the numbers here Guys Clemson last year was a 109th nationally in pass plays of 20 or more yards 118th nationally in passing plays of 30 or more yards 119th nationally in passing plays of 40 or more yards they only had 30 passing ples only 30 of 20 or more yards last year for comparison's sake Georgia had 65 more than double the number of 20 plus yard passing playes that Clemson had last year 30 plus yard passing plays Clemson had 12 what did Georgia have 29 again more than double 40 plus yard pass plays Clemson had four George had 16 four times as many pass plays of 40 or more yards s so there was just no explosiveness in this Clemson pass game so let's go back to tape here and take a look at this Clemson pass game I got a lot of cut UPS here for you guys we're going to start with with their their screen game their short game and then we'll take a look at okay when they did try to push it vertically who are they going to and what did those vertical Concepts look like so let's go to the tape all right guys I've loaded you up with a ton of clips from the Clemson pass game because I want you to see that not talking about just isolated cases here of Clemson throwing some screens or going to the short game this is by and large what the Clemson passing game was last year it was the screen game and it was the short game the quick game they were just simply not trying to take shots down the field those were exceedingly rare last year from the Clemson offense let's start with the screen game I'm just going to let a lot of these run but the first couple screen plays you're going to see here these are screens to will Shipley I do have questions about the Clemson offense trying to replace will Shipley now Phil mafa running the football is awesome he'll be fine there but Phil moff is also not the same type of receiver that will Shipley was so do they have a running back that can give them what shiy did out of the backfield because that was actually a pretty decent sized part of the Clemson passing game last year as you'll see here in these clips so let's let this thing roll and they gotum in a variety of ways guys so there you've got trips to the field and they're all just lead blocking for Shipley here's have a delayed screen you're going to pull the tackle out there kind of creative way to get the football in his hands creative screen and this one ship going to be lined up out there wide pre- snap shouldn't throw the football got two lead blockers let shley go to work similar concept he just goes in motion it's another example of like how this is no this is very similar there's not much separation between what you're going to see from Clemson in this play with Shipley already aligned out wide with two lead blockers boom boom right and then this next play where he's coming in motion and the formations are different but the it's the same concept right you have two lead blockers by the time sh gets the ball he's he's aligned out wide right it's just another example of Garrett riy doing a really good job of just dressing up plays a few base plays that he makes it seem like the there's far more to to prepare for than there actually is just that window dressing now this one is actually not a screen per se but it's another example of him trying to get the ball and Shipley's hands and doing it effectively just a a running back angle route but Shipley was a major weapon for them in the past game out the back field and I just don't know who that guy is going to be for them this year we'll see but he was not the only guy they would try to get the ball to in the screen game Tyler Brown's another player if there was a receiver they tried to get the ball to in the screen game more than any of the other receivers it was Tyler Brown he hasn't really been much of a vertical threat in his career not to say he can't do it you just haven't seen it from him Brown has been a guy they want to get the ball to in the short intermediate range screen game and let him go to work he's elusive in space here he is getting against Kentucky going to make this guy miss that that's what Tyler Brown does really really effectively here he is against FSU give him space make a guy Miss man get you nine yards there here's one more same exact play and guys that's another thing too this Clemson offense they will not shy away from running the same play over and over and over again if it's working they will run it because they don't have that many they just make it look like like they do all right now this look at that pressure this is the play they also love to run now this looks like mesh it's not mesh this is a screen this is a screen guys so mesh like what is mesh right so this is a play that that comes from the air raid Mike Leech that he is the the creator of mesh and so what you're going to have is you're going to have two receivers that are going to cross you see this all the time right you might call these Crossing routes yes they're Crossing routes but the the concept is called mesh and the idea is that they're going to cross right here and they create the natural picks right and one of these guys should be open however they've put their own little twist on this a Clemson gett R has put his own twist on this watch this guys this is not mesh it looks like mesh but this ball is going to be thrown behind the line ofm This receiver is going to start coming this he's going to start coming towards the field but then he's going to bend it back and when he catches it he's going to be behind line in scrimmage and this Receiver right here this going be the tight end he is straight up setting a pick he's not trying to run around he's setting a pick and it's legal because the ball is thrown behind the line of scrimmage and they did this a ton last year I got quite a few clips of it to demonstrate that for you watch him Stato number 10 he's going to catch ball he's right there behind line of scrimmage right you might be screaming that's a pig a pick offensive pass interference no it's not he's behind the line of scrimmage and I had to rewind a couple times too myself I was like that's offensive pass interference no it's not there it is again bring stool the tight end straight up just blocking but ballor Highline in scrimmage NC they threw this a ton against NC State because NC State they pressure a lot as you're seeing here and they thought this is a way to attack that pressure and they got him a couple times with it not enough to win the game they got him a couple times with it so they love that mesh there it is again you see bring stol is just going to block this against North Carolina so watch Bring stol right here the tight end awesome tight end by the way we'll talk about him in a minute here he is just going to go block he's blocking he's not running around this is a he's just blocking for a screen but they put this on tape so much North Carolina's like yep seen that before now this one I think is actually mesh so they do have in their playbook they just don't run it a ton um they run that little mesh looking screen so here you can see these two receivers they are going to cross paths but then you have braing stool hooking up right behind them so that's a classic uh mesh concept when you get into a zone so you're GNA see these guys are crossing right here right trying to create those natural picks but then bring stool they're in his zone right so bring stool has run the hook route right there between them all the attention is paid to these two guys Crossing each other and you got that guy sitting the sticks right there for a nice game so they they will run actual mesh they just don't run it as much as they do the little screen looking play now let's get into a couple of other Concepts this is about as simple as aess this what I'm talking about guys this Clemson offense uh passing game last year it was so rudimentary it was almost comical man they just had no faith in clubing that's that's my reading it this is a simple curl flat concept guys did this over and over last year curl flat curl flat that's NC State another curl flagin NC State come up right here doing a little bit differently coming to motion but I mean it's curl flat now this right here this was somebody screwed up they had two guys running a curl in the same spot this is not supposed to happen no no somebody screwed up there I don't know who but somebody screwed up there but you have your flat receiver one of these guys supposed to be your curl guy and uh you see this is pton Wilson eyeing the the flat so he's gonna throw the curl but I think brinning stool had this wrong I could be wrong but that's my my guess there because he's not throwing any brinning stool all right and this is a stick another quick game concept now the next set of plays here these are going to be slant plays the first couple Concepts here uh I think the first three plays I got here the this is what we call Dragon so we just saw curl curl flat dragon is slant flat right so you're going to have a slant route and you're going to have a flat receiver so you'll see it right here so you're GNA have a slant route boom flat receiver and you're what what you're trying to do is clear out this linebacker right so if he is taking the running back you now have you got one1 out here so hopefully your your receiver can win uh at the snap he can get inside leverage and now there's no linebacker to take away that slant so that's a very That's a classic clip quick game concept and Clemson ran a lot now I will give I will give K kman credit here I'm gonna have not as nice things Say by him a little bit he throws the slant ex exceptionally well that's his best route he throws it very very well look again you can see this clearing out space watch the linebacker here clearing out space that window is there it's a really like Club mi's better with timing routes and this is very much a timing route here's one more against NC State Dragon it's a dragon concept now the next couple here these are Slants this is just not Dragon because there's no flat there's no flat receiver he just throwing a straight slant but I mean watch clubm here like I will rip him a little bit later on but he throws this route very very well so if we give him a lot of off coverage they're going to throw this all day long we're going to have to get up in their face they will take this all day long it's what he throws well is what he's comfortable throwing we're going to have to force this guy to show us that he can beat us vertically right because as you'll see in a second you don't see many veral shots from them and when he does throw it down the field he his accuracy is not there but this is where we're going to wax poetic about Jake brinning stol so they don't throw the ball vertically much but when they did they were going to Jake brinning stool the vast majority of the time he was their one he was Dynamic man I think Jake brinning stool is the truth that tied in man I think he's got to be the short list on to be a Macky award guy this year that's tight end y'all going going up make a play like that that's just a simple slot Fade to the tight end who else did that oh yeah Georgia Brock Bowers he's not Brock but I'm telling you man this guy is an elite tight end that's that's a that's an NFL tight end right there that guy's a stud so right here they should run him up at the seam from the HB back position very few linebackers very few safeties in the country can run this guy and he's got the length the size and the hands the ability to win the 50-50 balls the GU is pretty freakish man and here this is also it's another steam route but this is an interesting way because they have him Led Out wide so how you going run a seam route from out wide well they have it this is a pretty creative scheme uh by by Riley so they're going to they could look like he's running across like a drag but then when he gets to the scene when he gets to the the hashes he's going to get vertical up the field they ran this play quite a bit last year they run with him they run with receivers as well but man you get look at this guy going space man he can move he can straight up move and here against Florida State you're going to see him on the wheel route tight ends I mean linebackers have a tough time keeping up with this guy he's the real deal like if there's one guy on the on the Clemson offense that I think we have to be prepared for that guy he's the dude on that offense and if they weren't trying to get it to burning stool hni can throw a decent back shoulder at times accuracy is erratic but you can see here against NC St see the they've been running the ball running the ball running the ball they've been going short game short game short game so what's NC State doing I look at these safeties man look at them getting that box they have no respect no respect at all for Clemson trying to put push the ball vertically because they don't even really try but finally they're going to say all right we got to try we got to get these guys out this box so when they have one-on-one coverage like this if you have to get safeties in the box they're they will try occasionally to take this kind of back shoulder shot and it it's based off The Leverage of the defender if he's playing over the top they'll throw back shoulder if he's playing back shoulder try to throw over the top club makes struggles with that but he can hit it from time to time as you'll see here got two clips here of him actually hitting it here's an almost identical play against Miami it's actually I think it's Bo Callin same receiver who's actually not on their roster anymore so yes the Clemson offense was more conservative than a lot of high school offenses are a year ago which begs the question why why were they so conservative and the answer is usually never as simple as just one thing there were injuries to wide receivers all year long a variety of guys that's certainly a part of it they were in year one with a new offensive coordinator and Garrett Riley both those issues probably won't be issues to open the season right they should be fully healthy at wide receiver Garrett Riley going to year two now everybody has some familiarity with this system in a way they did not a year ago and if you look at the receiver core I mean they've got some solid players there they have some guys that I think are talented you got Tyler Brown who I think is a guy that's really electric with the ball in his hands when he in space now he hasn't really shown that he's a a true dynamic vertical threat but getting him the ball in the screen game the short intermediate range let him go to work in space he's very dynamic in in that role Antonio Williams the guy that was really good for them back in 2022 was banged up almost all of last year missed large chunks of the Season he should be back ready to go when he's fully healthy he is a dangerous weapon receiver Adam Randle is a guy that's really talented has fysical upside hasn't really put it together at Clemson but very hopeful that this will be the year that it does all come together kind of like we are with Ari and Smith so maybe it is the year that things finally click for Adam Randle then you have some some more like role complimentary guys and Tony Stato who did have to play a lot last year out of necessity because they had all these injuries Cole Turner should be back this year and then you add in some some talented pieces coming from the high school ranks TJ Moore a five-star Prospect top 20 guy nationally Bryant Wesco a fourstar top 60 guy nationally two really Ted players that Clemson fans have high hopes for now when you're talking about true freshman could they make an impact as early as week one sure they could it happens it happens we see it happen Brock Bowers made an impact against Clemson back in 2021 his first game at the college level so those guys could step up and make impacts in year one and as early as week one but as I always tell you guys I don't know if you want to be in the position of counting on that you just don't know we'll see I think they'll play and and we'll see how they play once they get out there in the college setting against a really good Georgia defense but that certainly beefs up the talent level in that Clemson wide receiver room so with all those guys healthy and adding in some two adding two really talented pieces from the high school ranks all of a sudden that Clemson wide receiver room which absolutely was a liability for them last year while lacking well I would say still lacking proven Elite Playmakers at wide receiver it's certainly a lot more potent than it was a year ago and you kind of have to stand up and pay attention to that and then if you throw Jake bring stool into the equation at tight end who I believe is one of the the best Titans in the country I would certainly have him on the short list to be one of the the top candidates to win the Macky award this year I think that highly the guy he is he is a new way tight in I mean he is that guy that is a a hybrid mover tight end who is a he's a major threat in the passing game it can function well enough in the blocking game he's not Brock Bowers but he is a brock Bowers type tight in where they they can do a lot of things with him they can move him around they can line him up in the SL they can line him out wide they can put him in the HB back roll they can play in line he can play all over the field for them and when they you saw when they want to create big plays in the pass game last year they were going to Jake bring that guy is awesome so you throw him in there with those wide receivers now you have some pretty legit weapons in the passing game for klubnik to work with so those areas do figure to be improved this year but that still leaves us with one major issue for the Clemson passing game and it just so happens to be the biggest issue for the Clemson passing game which of course was their quarterback play it just simply wasn't good enough last year guys it was if I had to pinpoint one thing you can say injuries know Clemson fans one point to injuries but if I had to really pinpoint one thing that held that Clemson offense back last year sure injury sure new offensive coordinator but to me more than anything it was the quarterback play like I have zero questions there it was the quarterback play K kumnick yes he does return and he's now a second-year starter he was a former five star highly Ted guy let's go back was it the 2022 season heading into 2022 remember DJ young laay did not have a strong 2021 year there were major questions about him and the Clemson offense coming out of 2021 and the Clemson fans are spend the offseason saying you know well even if he's not the guy it's okay we got Kate kutnick behind him he's gonna be the next guy he's just waiting his turn if dju doesn't improve we got K kutnick and we'll be fine well dju didn't improve and K clck got his opportunity and K kmck wasn't really fine he wasn't what they thought he would be and he wasn't in 2023 when he was fully handed the Reigns of the Clemson office and and Clemson fans can disagree with me all right I know my George guy telling you that your guy wasn't good last year and you're going to take offense to that but let's be real when you were watching him last year if you're a Clemson fan did you think that guy was good he wasn't man he was a massive liability at this point in his career he has not lived up to that five-star building he's a former number one quarterback in the country to some of the recruiting Services out there and he just simply has not looked that part he has not been that guys now he was young all right last year was his true sophomore year that was his first four years a starter absolutely you have to consider that context but all I can say right now all we can base our opinion of cnick off of is you can say oh yeah he was a highly rated guy but we have to go off what we've seen to this point right in what we've seen to this point is very little to suggest to us that K kumnick is a Big Time quarterback now I understand why he was so highly rated he has a really nice physical skill set he he probably should be good with the skill set he has to work with he's athletic man he's got a strong arm like he should be good but the problem for Clemson last year is that he just he just wasn't good he should have been good everything tells you this guy should be awesome but he just wasn't good and when you try to answer why why wasn't he good despite all the physical tools he has despite the prep ranking why wasn't he better than he was well to me it's two things inaccuracy in processing he struggled in both areas significantly last year guys so let's isolate those two issues the inaccuracy and the processing let's isolate them let's go back to the tape and take a look at exactly what I'm talking because I know some of you especially your Clemson fans finding this video you you don't want to believe me but let's go to the tape and let's actually look at it and let's start with the accuracy issues all right guys I got a couple of Clips here to Showcase Cade club's General accuracy issues a year ago and I want to start with this clip from the North Carolina game which is I think the most egregious Miss of the year for K clck and there were a lot of Misses guys I just think this was the most egregious one and this is early in the game they're taking a shot early in the game backed up deep in their own territory this is not generally a spot where Clemson was taking a shot down the field last year if they ever took one at all because they just generally didn't really try to push a ball vertually down the field and North Carolina has seen on take Clemson just go run game Run game Run game screen screen screen short game short game short game and so they're coming out not even remotely respecting the Clemson offense to try to beat them verle I mean look at where the safety is playing look here here look at these guys I mean they're playing what within 10 inside 10 yards of the line of scrimmage that's not normal guys but against Clemson it kind of was why would you play them any differently so North Carolina is just straight up daring them to try to beat them Virg so so Clemson says all right we we're going to give it a shot but it's to no avail because clubic just simply misses this guy badly and it's going to be Tyler Brown he's right here he's going to run a seam route and he's gonna run a great route he's going to have what four or five steps you'll see it right here and you simply can't miss this you cannot miss this throw watch this son no no you can't miss that throw and watch it from the uh Endzone angle here this is even more egregious here oh how can you miss it you got to hit that if they're going to be Georgia they're going to have to take shots like this and he's going to have to hit them in a way that he just didn't last year man that's tough all right next clip this is also a North Carolina game this is a a play where it's like are you are you just trying to throw the ball out of balance I don't think he's trying to throw the ball of bounces why would he in this scenario a little bit of pressure in his face not a ton and this ball it's not even remotely close like the receiver has no chance Tyler Brown's like throw his hands up like like what do you may do with that man like give the receiver a chance so those first two are vertical routes but hey his his misses were not exclusively vertical routes far from it I mean guys this is a simple Cur route I mean this is pitch and catch man pitch and catch you can't you can't miss that you can't miss that now you're third l you had have had at least like third and one against Kentucky well oh this is this is another really bad one about gets his receiver killed now you shouldn't throw that ball there anyway because you're leaving him out to drive but if you're going to throw it there in that spot at least give him a chance put the ball in a spot place the ball where he can at least try to protect himself when you throw the ball a foot in a half over his head and he's got to extend try to catch it I mean you're just leaving the guy out to dry if I'm Stato we're having words and locker room man we're having words on the sideline can't do that cannot this is bad man that's what I'm talking about guys it's bad all right this one another just a simple curl route against NC State now he's on the move here give him that but you can't miss a simple Cur route that badly this is another really bad Miss against Wake Forest so you're have a Crossing route to Tyler Brown I'm guys he might still be running I mean there there's no one within five like what six seven yards of him I mean look at that space and there's there's no pressure in his face he's got a clean pocket he's able to step into this football deliver it uncontested and you miss him that badly and guys I could have gone on and on and on with clips of k club being inaccurate a year ago in that Clemson offense but the interest of time I cut it short there with those clips still I think that's more than sufficient to establish that yes indeed K clubing dealt with significant accuracy issues a year ago and if you struggle that much with accuracy it just stands to reason that your coaching staff is going to re in your passing game at large and that's exactly what happened year ago with this Clemson offense and look it'd be one thing if it was just the accuracy issues that Kade clubing dealt with but that's just not the case those accuracy issues were compounded by significant issues processing and making decisions back there at the quarterback position so let going to take one more time for evidence of that all right guys let's take a look at some of these processing and decision-making issues that played k kumnick a year ago in this Clemson offense now one of the things that you will see through these clips and also if you just go back and watch his games from a year ago on a game by game really drive by Drive basis when he was pressured he panicked he kind of sort of lost his mind under pressure now if he was able to escape the pocket when he was under pressure he was really effective in those situations because he's a really good athlete he can pick up first downs pick up chunks of yards with his legs but if he was in the pocket and unable to escape with pressure in his face or pressure from the edges he had a really really tough time and you'll see that here with this first clip so he is looking to throw an out route here to the field but what you're going to see on this from this next angle can kuy's playing trap too or what we call Palms coverage so what's happening here in this scenario this receiver or this DB this corner right here he's got flat responsibility so at the snap it looks like he's kind of bailing but he's kind of baiting you he's got responsibility for first to the flat so this is trap too right so he is going to break on this club the club Miss credit he doesn't throw the ball okay cuz that would been the cat off and probably pick six right there he sees that they're in trap too but it's too late and at that point he's going to have some pressure in the pocket and he's just going to panic here what he needs to do he's got to he's going to have a little Outlet right here to M of the running back and he just got to dump it off just dump it off man but no he loses his mind and he just like I'm just going to throw the ball away and so it's you know no harm no foul there's no sack here but you could have at least a positive play so watch again he's just trying to get it out here he sees the last second too late now just throw the mafa you don't need to throw that ball away like that now this one against wake four he's just not seeing the field and this is one of the issues that he had last year the guy just doesn't always see the field man just how else do you explain this now what you'll see at the snap this guy it's a linebacker right here so he is playing the showing that he's playing the flats but the problem is like there's no one really right now to threaten him so he has no one in the flat that he has to take mafa is kind of heading that way but he's not there right now so why am I going to sit here in the I can drop under this route right here and clubic just doesn't see him he's just assuming that's one thing that he did too much last year he would just assume that his Defender was going to play a certain coverage going to be in a certain spot and that got him in trouble and it almost got him right here against Wake Forest you just got to have more awareness man you got to see the field better than that and he also would lock on receivers you're going to see that right here against n Dame it's got a lot of ISS like that that could have been a pick six man probably should have been a pick six he's just locked on to this receiver he's like he's made up his mind I'm going to throw this ball he's not even seeing the linebacker there and if the linebacker just like a I mean a a split second faster that's a pick six and that changes the game right there if it's a pick six they got away with it but man that's a poor decision it's a poor throw here's another example that this one's North against North Carolina straight up staring this receiver down watch look at his eyes he's not looking anywhere but at sap that slot receiver and look at the safety 27 sees it the whole way he's just watching Club Nick's eyes it's another one he's lucky to get away with 27 just got to break on that more just but watch King's eyes just straight up staring him down can't lock on receivers like that and the next couple here here's another issue that he had so I these are scream passes guys but and you think oh scream passes easy throw right will you at least have to look and make sure there's no Defender there that might potentially make a play on the ball have awareness he came craz close to throwing multiple interceptions off of screen passes last year guys if that Ball's not tipped that's an interception he's just not he's just he's like I'm gonna throw the ball I'm I'm not looking Reckless abandoned just going to throw the football who cares what's out there he he's just not always thinking out there man it's almost like the game's too fast for him at least of last year now this one man this is like Bening type stuff you can't you can't do that like if if you have any other option you you binge him after this now they end up winning this game they beat North Carolina but guys the that game was in doubt a half it was a 7 s game with 40 seconds left before the half what on Earth are are you doing that's what I'm talking about look pressure in his face he loses his mind he panics and just throws the ball up for grabs you cannot play that recklessly with in that tight of a game right before the half and you're in field goal range you can't throw that you're you're take you're giving away points now fortunately for for K CL again he got lucky here they they get a penalty on this play they call a penalty North Carolina and they get a first down but doesn't take away the poor decision here on K kix's part man absolutely abolutely catastrophic level decision against South Carolina same thing pressure in his face just throws the ball up for grabs and once again like look guys look how many times he just gets away with this but these habits are horrific I mean that's got to be a pick and again you are in field goal range here it's a 7even seven game late in the first quarter and you're potentially taking points off the board for your team because you get pressure in your face and you panic and you just throw the ball up for grabs so lucky that ball did not get picked so clearly processing and decision-making were major issues for k kumnick a year ago now there's certainly context that he was after all a first year starter he was working in a brand new offense with Garrett Riley coming over in his first year as Clemson's offensive coordinator so there are plenty of reasons to believe that klubnik will be improved this year that we we will see a much better version of klubnik in 2020 4 than we saw a year ago but the film don't lie guys the film doesn't lie what you've seen here today is what klubnik was a year ago and to this point that's what we have to work off of all right now if Clemson is going to have any chance to pull the upset if they're going to have any chance to beat Georgia that has to change it has to change because average quarterbacks quite simply do not beat Georgia and that's what K kumnick has been to this point Point his career average at best and if you look at the list of quarterbacks that have beaten George over the last four years it's not a long list but if you look at those quarterbacks we're talking about elite players at the quarterback position you go back to 2020 M Jones Kyle trass now say what you want about them in the NFL at the college level they were Elite quarterbacks Bryce young Elite jayen milro maybe not quite full on Elite but close to it certainly has an elite skill set and he was I think number six in the high has been voting a year ago so at the very least a very very very good quarterback and then if you want to throw CJ Stroud in there as an honorable mention Ohio State in that peach ball game pushed Georgia about as far as Georgia has been pushed and not lost a game over the last four years and they did that on the back of CJ Str if CJ St did not play that way if he did not play basically the game of his life against Georgia in that Peach Bowl Ohio State doesn't come close to win that game they certainly don't push Georgia the way that they did so the question becomes is Kade kumnick ready to put himself into that team year of quarterback cuz that's what's it's going to take guys I think that is the question heading into this match because Clemson has some real talent on offense Jake Brin I've told you a couple times today guys I think the guy is a stud he is awesome I think he very well could win the macki war for the nation's best tight end this year he is Elite that's an NFL guy they have I don't think it's an elite wide receiver core but a very a very talented wide receiver and they have some good weapons when you talk about guys like Tyler Brown Antonio Williams when they're healthy that's a a solid wide receiver they just weren't healthy a year ago and they also have some really talented youngsters and TJ Moore and briyan Wesco coming from the high school ranks to add a little oomph into that Clemson passing attack then Phil mof on the backfield is a top 10 to 15 running back in the country we haven't talked much about their offensive line today but their offensive line is going to be much improved it'll be one of the better Clemson offensive lines that we have seen in some time not Elite I still think they have some issues that tackle with break with Blake Miller and Tristan Lee with speed rushers at times can give them issues so Jaylen Walker mikill Williams could potentially have a lot of success against those guys but that's a much better Clemson offensive line than Georgia saw back in 2021 it's not the same offensive line that had all those issues trying to block Georgia in 2021 where they're just overwhelmed it's a much better unit than it was at that point so there is some real talent in this Clemson offense but for the Clemson offense against the Georgia defense on Saturday Saturday it's going to come down to quarterback play if Kate KCK is ready to take a massive step in his second year as starter and his second year in this Garrett Riley offensive scheme they have a legit chance to be Georgia they have enough T especially on defense the defense will keep them in this game but their offense has to do their part and if he takes a massive step forward I think will'll take a massive step forward from what he was a year ago possible but we'll see they have a legit chance but if not if he doesn't take a massive step forward this season recent history tells us Clemson just won't have a chance they won't have a chance to be Georgia it's that simple but all
