Intro so it's my job with these NFL team preview videos to have a strong opinion or at least some kind of aable opinion on all of these teams the 20124 New York Jets are a riddle wrapped in an enigma wrapped in a mystery there is Super Bowl upside for the Jets and this team could easily go four and 13 and no be shocked either let's break them down right here with another wagertalk.com team preview season that was Joe neth okay it's been a while they have a 13-year playoff drought all right they went 4 and13 seven- n Sorry 4 and 13 7- 10 7- 10 last three years under Robert Salah this is the ultimate win now team GM Joe Douglas on the hot seat the head coach salah's on the hot seat you have a 40-year-old quarterback and Aaron Rogers coming off a an ACL it's now or never all right there is clear urgency and of course you know Aaron Rogers 148 wins 75 losses one tie I remember the tie I can't think of it off hand as a starting quarterback in the NFL last year he took four snaps and then was out for the season and then in the offseason he flirted with politics which is always a concern you know he missed the voluntary team workout sessions for a previously planned ation that's not great all right that's not necessarily what you want your starting quarterback to do for a team that is desperate for any kind of postseason success any kind of making the postseason again when you have a 13-year playoff drought when you are for a roster that hasn't won a Super Bowl since the 1960s yeah some sign is a good sign and again your QB saying oh maybe I'll run for vice president oh no I'm going to take this vacation instead of going to practice my team not great signs all Offense right but every move the Jets made this off season is Win now win this year all right the Jets had what 33 giveaways last year that was number 30 in the NFL offense coordinator Nathaniel Hackett comes back but he's Rogers guy Rogers again off the torn Achilles he's 40 years old can he move in the pocket may not have to the offensive line again what did the Jets do veterans all right all guys who they know can play Tyrant Smith on the offive line Morgan mogus Moses they're both 33 years old with injury histories but both Sky a games is Elite all right they have the former first rounder Eli ver Tucker his what seven and five starts over the last two years he's supposed to be healthy and good to go uh the John Simpson uh free agent sige uh the number one pick the tackle Olu fashanu from Penn State this is an offensive line they P to ton of resources in it's supposed to be pretty good to very good we'll see it's an old QB behind wide receiver every move win now you know you bring in Mike Williams from the Chargers Garrett Wilson's been a stud so far here all right red zone offense they were number 32 at touchdown percentage last year number 31 in 2022 you know 43% in 2022 at 31 last year dead last only 32 % Red Zone touchdowns clearly if Rogers is back and they can throw the football they have a receiving CT they can make plays in The Red Zone those numbers should improve and that should make the Jets offense a lot better worth noting at least this year the Jets do have a backup QB Tyrod Taylor it won't be Zack Wilson if Rogers gets hurt again which again when you talk about 40-year-old QBs playing even with uh playing behind veteran offensive lines that haven't been together there's injury risk for the Jets no question about it that being said all the win now moves that they made these are impact players all right if they stay healthy and gel Jets could be really football this team and the Pro Football Focus is the number one in their rankings last year number two in 2022 it's not like this defense is a whole lot of room to improve from where they've been and yet Bo P it's a nice pickup I mean Hassan reic from Philly is a nice pickup uh qu Williams an elite DL Germaine Johnson I mean DJ Reed s Gardner this team's they're deep defensively the pass rushes there the secondary is there there's a lot of things to like from a squad that's been at or near the top of the NFL defensively in recent Seasons fall occations again if the offense doesn't suck like it did last year the defense should be pretty good There's Hope for the Jets there hasn't been any hope for the Jets There's Hope for the Jets this year now whether that hope pans out if you're a Jets fan you're already saying oh hope you know what's that done for us over the last 50 years and I wouldn't disagree with that that being said this year they're built to win now and if things break right perhaps they will win now we look at the schedule I mean look the league wants the Jets to be successful they have six night games the first 11 weeks of the season going to buy you know they have on Sunday Night Football Monday night football Thursday night football the League's going to give the Jets plenty of visibility this year as they should you know with Aaron Rogers and the star stter roster the AFC East faces the AFC South and the NFC West the three extra games for the Jets Denver Minnesota in London and Pittsburgh not brutal not brutal at all from my strength of schedule standpoint after the buy gets tough look the Jets could really have a good start it wouldn't shock me at all if they have a good start I could see him going seven and four eight and three after the buy it gets tough Seattle at Miami at Jacksonville we got the Rams at Buffalo and then Miami again no easy games for the Jets down the stretch but again if they win early and they stay healthy this team's gonna have a lot of confidence later in the season if they crash and burn early it's going to get ugly come December you can count on it and the coach will be gone and the G will be gone and all of that so again I like to give you guys as strong an opinion as I can on any of these teams the Jets I don't have a strong opinion they could be an elite team and they could be crap and what we're gonna have to do is watch and see and see how healthy they stay and there are plenty of teams are gonna be like that we're gonna have opinions on lots of them but not opinions on all of them Jets lots of question marks and not unfortunately a strong strong opinion I do have a strong opinion and that is I'm not going to bet the Jets week one let's see how they look there you have it thank
