so I do a Daily Show for wager talk called wager talk today uh each and every weekday morning 9:00 amm Pacific Time noon Easter and on that show one of the guests we have is Arthur de Caesar from the that really surprised me he talked about all the money coming in on the Minnesota Vikings over their season wi we just talked last week uh Vikings six and a half now juice to the over with their win total and of course it's a team seven eight 13 and seven wins over the last four years they had the 13- win season with something of an outlier they were extraordinary lucky that year last year not nearly as lucky still end up winning seven games so Minnesota expected to be weaker than they've been in any recent season based on the opening number but as Arthur Caesar said Arthur Caesar from the West gate super book yeah the sharp money is coming on Minnesota over 6 and a half wins many books already at seven with the Vikings let's break them down right here with another 2024 NFL team preview the Minnesota fight kings I'm Teddy covers I work for wer talk.com and right now Minnesota lined in that six and a half seven win range they have 38 new faces on a 90 man roster 40% of the roster is gone he signed 14 free agents uh you know it's a lot uh who have are projected to have a chance to start uh this season obviously Kevin oconnell third year head coach he's 20 and 14 as a coach I like oconnell all right I think Minnesota's over achieved while he's been there GM ques Ado Mana he's in his third year as well there's some urgency here for Minnesota there definitely is and they certainly have some Talent you know wide receiver Talent Justin Jefferson he's back Jordan Addison was really good TJ hackinson that's as good a one two three you know two receivers and tight end du as you're going to find in the league that being said no depth at all behind the studs at receiver an injury to Jefferson or Addison or hackinson is going to be a problem for Minnesota when all three are healthy they're great but death behind is a big concern quarterback's a big concern too look JJ McCarthy with the Vikings number one pick uh from Michigan wi National title so let's talk about picks that are top five in the NFL draft when it comes to QBs Mac Jones was the last guy who was say again we're talking about the fifth QB drafting M Jones was the last fif QB drafted in the first round that didn't work out particularly well for New England Josh Rosen was the last time the fourth QB or more in the first round was at number 10 or higher Josh rosen's career worse than M Jones that's what jjcy McCarthy's walking into so um I have concerns about McCarthy's ability to fit right in this is team that only had seven rushing touchdowns last year by the way behind McCarthy Sam darnold former number one pick of course darnold 21- 35 career record uh and not a guy who has a whole lot of 60% completion seasons and this is the Minnesota team they only had seven rushing touchdowns last year all right you have Christian Daris daraw and Brian O'Neal's tackles two solid tackles was key for a rookie QB but the interior of that offensive line is real dicey I've got my concerns about how they're going to do up front and i' my concerns about how they're going to be able to run the football this year now I guess we'll call this a plus Minnesota had 34 giveaways last year that was 31st in the NFL they did not take care of the football and one would think with the rookie QB assuming McCarthy starts early which we don't know for sure but with the Rook QB one would expect a relatively conservative game plan I think Minnesota is going to do everything they can not to have 34 giveaways this year so that could be a sign in the right direction let's talk about the ofely defense coordinator Brian Flores we like him we like him a lot second season on the job and last year his first year on the job defense went from number 28 points allowed to number 13 all right they brought in three new Edge rushers all right which should help Jonathan uh granard 12 and a half Seck uh last year Andrew van GLE he played for Flores in Miami he should help the first rounder Dallas Turner from Alabama he's the SEC Defensive Player of the Year should be interesting in terms of a pass rush that they didn't have a year ago their defensive tackles are a problem only one linebacker returns you know sha Griffin is now on his fourth team uh since last spring he's supposed to help out fourth rounder Kyrie Jackson out of Oregon you know it's all the secondary is not very good the back seven on defense has a lot of questions it really does the entire defense has a lot of questions now we like Flores this defense did improve last last year but I'm not going to call this in El League defense if you don't know even going to call it a good it's League average or Worse pretty much across the board and every other team in this division got better Detroit got better this offseason Green Bay looks like a real Contender Chicago improved by as much as any team of the League this past off season I'm not sure the Vikings did they have a rookie kicker they've got punter question marks as well from a scheduling standpoint it's not like the league is putting Minnesota on Center Stage they got one Monday night football game against Chicago in December they play the AFC South and the NFC West Division as do all the NFC North teams the three extra games they got the Giants the Jets in London and Atlanta not brutal but not necessarily easy Atlanta and the Jets both supposed to be a lot better than they were last year they have a fairly early week six by it's not a brutal schedule it isn't by any stretch of the imagination there's sharp money coming from Minnesota over but I'll leave it at this ain't none of that my money you're not going to catch me better the Vikings over this year under or pass for this better when it comes to Minnesota I do not we like the coach we like the urgency West Phillips the new OC I mean there's there's hope but the Vikings are the worst team in this Division I expected to show on the field thank you so much for taking
