Clemson Tigers vs Georgia Bulldogs Prediction, Picks and Best Bets | College Football Picks Week 1

is Steve Merl wagertalk.com right back here on wager talk TV breaking down Clemson Georgia technically a neutral field Mercedes-Benz Stadium now that of course is Atlanta Georgia might have a little bit of a crowd Edge but Clemson's going to travel pretty well from South Carolina so this is a neutral field noon Eastern ABC Saturday afternoon August the 31st and it is the most high-profile game this weekend in week one of college football so how are we going to play it well Georgia does look like the best team in the nation keep in mind they've won two of the last three national titles didn't get it done last year Michigan got there they lost to Georgia lost to Alabama of course and that knocked them out of contention but they were the team to beat basically all season uh could have gone three straight now they'll try to make it three out of four and they are a hefty 13 and 1 Half Point favorite because there's a lot of uncertainty with how good Clemson will be this season heyy Tigers were as good as Georgia over the past decade up until the last couple years Georgia took the helm and Clemson did regress to say the least but they turned it on strong at the end of last season winning their final five games it all started with that upset win November 4th week 10 against nutre Dame as a three-point dog they won the next three regular season games after that and then also a decent Bowl win against Kentucky 38-35 a high-scoring game that total was only 43 a half but bowl games can be a bit random and I do think the total is actually the way to look at this game here on Saturday and I like the under 482 that's your free play here for this video Line open 472 it's been bumped up to 48 and a half and 48 is a key number so we get some line value now at under 48 a half or more and Georgia just a tenacious defense year and year out and don't forget this is a rematch from just three years ago these teams played the opening game back in the 2021 season and Clemson a lost that game 10 to3 Clemson was actually a three-point favorite in that game of course Georgia went on to win the National Championship that year they lost to Alabama in the conference Championship game but then got their revenge in the national championship their first of back-to-back titles a few years ago back on 2021 season but I want to dig deeper into that game three years ago because that total was 51 in a half Georgia was a three-point dog because everyone thought Clemson was the team to beat That season and Clemson was held to just three points only 180 total yards but Georgia only had 10 points and only 256 yards you know the defenses are normally head of the offenses early in the season that was definitely the case when these teams played three years ago and I think it could very well be the case again this season fast forward a year later back in the 2022 season Georgia played a pretty good Oregon team a high explosive Oregon team in week one and held them to three points they won 49 to3 I don't think Georgia is scoring 49 against this Clemson defense but my point is they held both Clemson and Oregon to three points each in the two openers those high-profile neutral field openers a couple years ago and I think this will be another defense defensive battle this is a Clemson team that should be approved this season they also have a second-year quarterback Kade kumnick at the helm he will be improved as well but keep in mind the Tigers got off to a very slow and sluggish start last season losing outright 28-7 as a 12-point favorite against Duke and they only scored seven points in that game now once again Club Nick has more experience I do expect a better offensive effort um he was one for one one touchdown one interception 209 yards in that opener last year he is playing better now but he hasn't faced ever a defense like this Georgia Bulldog defense who has had all off season the entire month of August to prep and prepare I think both defenses have the edge here defenses in general have the edge early in the season and this is a high-profile game the other two neutral field games for Georgia been extremely low scoring in recent years I
