welcome everyone to Chestnut Hill home of the Boston College Eagles where fans are quickly filling up alumni stadium in anticipation of a terrific Clash we have ahead we've got a terrific match up for you today rich in pageantry and tradition and it ought to be a fantastic class as we'll see a squad from the Big 10 the UCLA Bruins taking on a team from the ACC the Boston College Eagles for EA Sports college football I'm reys Davis David Pollock and Jesse Palmer with me guys it's time to get it [Applause] going the Bruins will kick it away first takes it inside the 25 and he'll bring it back he's brought down after a good return gets it out to the 31 the Eagles offense will get the first crack at it here and here's the man they rally around and he has earned that type of respect David you dang right you earn it by doing it and he's done it at such a high level everyone believes in this young man in Palmer there's a reason why you're right David he's been in the big moments and he's won the big games this guy delivers when the game is on the line found a bunch of room and got it to the 44 yd line Austin college right back back to the line apparently line number one on the game plan attack now immediately and this quarterback he smelt it he knew he had an opportunity this is the quarterback scrambled around but the defense able to scramble him and turn it into a sack I love the effort and there's no quit in this defense first guy misses second guy misses no problem we've got extra bodies and hats flying to the quarterback and they're able to get the sack [Applause] now they'll run the draw really nice stop there from this senior leader they're strong and they're scw defensive tackles they're scraw they're such big jokers in the Middle where they just lock out those offensive linemen and running backs listen they don't have much of a chance when you got that 300 plus pound guy grabbing you around the shoulder pad you tend to go to the ground pretty quickly number 43 in form to kick it away able to keep them from getting a return and the ball goes out of bounds they're going to mark it right around the 20 defense has dominated the early part of this game and the stats point that out emphatically both sides trying to find a little rhythm and efficiency and move the ball some here as we start the second quarter back at it to open the quarter with this first down play he want to throw unloads to the right all kinds of room to throw that one in there and he was loose and in the open field and on his way a tremendous pick up on that one big play like that to open a drive just builds the confidence now first down from the 46 he finds his man across the 25 he's got room big big gain on that one as he steps out of bounds with a first down love the individual effort by the wide receiver after the catch making people Miss showing you the speed now he set up his offense down in the Red Zone from the Red Zone he's going to throw it makes to grab it's hardened the stop is made but this offense is threatening first and goal from the n defense is backed up shadow of the goal post trying to defend their own End Zone wants to go up top fires to the end zone almost intercepted they took a shot on first down and just about turned the thing over defense roll up deep in its own end on that last play now a second and long coming and good hands there by the defense on that shot to the End Zone Third and goal coming up here he wants to throw it again fires into the endzone can't make the grab as he was looking for his man right at the goal line and on fourth down they'll try to put three on the board just drives it between the uprights and the first points of the day come on that field goal so after the last Drive ended with a field goal the kickoff team out there to send it away caught inside the 30 and he'll bring it back maybe if he could have eluded just one or two more guys it would have been a big return but they'll mark it at the 30 Boston College sending the offense back onto the field David the punter got some work last time they'd like to keep him on the sidelines in this drive and the quarterback is snowed under there's a timeout called as this offense tries to find a way to draw a little closer they'll try to put it in drop this time on second down from the 22 to the air it's castios and finds a tight end he's brought down quickly minimal gain there still a bit short of the first down [Applause] on third down he'll try to pick it up through the air and the pass rush is effective and they tackle him at the 19 N on the play number 43 on it away not going to risk a return here he'll make the fair catch we played two quarters here time to go to Kevin Connors in our halftime update fellas you've been taking in some scene there today in chessnut hill and it's been said football is a game of inches and guess what based on the comparison between third down conversion rate today and the average yard per play how can you argue that I mean the low-lying fruit is to look at some of the explosive plays we've seen in panic but really this game is going to come down to which team is more efficient when they have the ball and how they play when it matters most and with that let's send it back to the guys at Alumni Stadium Boston College ready to kick things off and start the second half he'll start the return inside his SP nice job executing all of the assignments as they put a stop to that return at the 22 UCLA will go back to work on offense and when your defense is performing like this pitching a shut out you want to find a way to reward them and help them out a little bit David and I guess that's the upside for this offense their defense has been so good but man oh man they've got to find something Jesse that they can hang their hat on something they can do to move the football it just feels like at this point they kick one more field goal and this is ball game because of how well their defense is playing so I think offensively just don't do anything stupid and give the game away so the officials take a closer look in the replay Booth will overturn the call let's see if they go back to the air on second down takes a hand off it's Harden he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple and a great job by the linebacker you can tell starting to crowd the line of scrimmage get up there in the line of scrimmage see it diagnose it get in the back field get the running back on the ground for the tackle for the loss looking for that first down on Third and short from the 28 here he goes breaking the pocket and the defense knew exactly where that first down line was and they stopped him short I really like when the defense goes dying more speed like so much speed and space in college football when you can put so many DBS on the field in these situations when they do take off and scramble I go chase him down make the big third down stop and it's incomplete and this defense makes a fourth down stop great spot to start this drive for the offense [Applause] it's a reverse that play just never had a chance a knock him down for a loss of five this offense has a second down [Applause] play that's the end of the quarter and UCLA has the lead they've built a cushion they've got a nice lead now the task is finish the deal as you take a look at the third quarter [Applause] steps not only is the scoreboard on their side but so too is time as we open the forth we'll get this quarter going with a second down Play [Music] We to the air it's castios just a short pass to the tight end they get him down after he makes the catch you just got the feeling this defense is going to make it hard on them right they've got the lead it's late they're going to try to tackle everybody inbounds off have to really work for this and be smart you got to attack the sidelines you got to throw first downs you got to keep this thing moving vertically down the field and guys they really need to take advantage of this field position on Third and long trying to make magic on the scramble and he's not going to make it the defense denying him the first down this game will come down to this a field goal try to save them he needs to make sure those mechanics are pure from the right hash and 40 yds away it is good all tied up just over a minute to go guys still plenty of time for a finish and we're all square as he's set to kick it away and he takes this from inside the five just never had a chance to shake loose and he'll be brought down at the 24 the UCLA offense is back on the field ready to go to work there's enough time to get the ball down the field here David but you've got to make sure you're efficient and avoid mistakes yeah in those two-minute drills you always talk about the first first down Jesse get that first first down stop the clock get some momentum going on offense yeah good decision making by the quarterback too right you don't have to be greedy in this situation just take what the defense gives you and get yourself in position to win after a big Gainer on that first play now they can really go for it on First and 10 One Step W Two Step squeeze this junior knows how to get him on the ground after the three- yd pickup they come to the line Second and seven trying play action he'll throw it that is just a sideline credit oh catch tow drag everything you want and the Bruins have it with a first and 10 for the off he's looking to throw it now he's going to Glide away from pressure and he pulls it in at the 15 The Tackle is made but he's got it first and goal from the six and this defense is going to have their handsful because they're going to need to be comfortable with guys one-on-one on islands in the perimeter of the field and they're just going to have to make better plays than what we saw right there they knew this offense was going to try to be aggressive got to need better effort in the back end for this defense moving forward it's incomplete he was shooting for the end zone right there man what a play by the defender thrown into the end zone squats it away when a game's this close this late that's a play when we look back on this one that maybe helps win the game for this team and they'll send out the kicker to try a field goal this for the lead and very likely the win timeout is called by the defense and 12 seconds remain in the football game and the kicker delivers the three ball to finish off the drive celebration is Wild on the sidelines as they've taken the lead in the final seconds oh look at Mr hands taking the squiver inside the 30 got to get everybody lined up quickly time winding away and they've got to push the ball down the field comes out throwing on first down he wants a big play here late the pass is incomplete and one second is left got to move quickly here they need to get it to field goal [Applause] range second and 10 he'll throw again takes a shot as he lets it Go fires it into traffic and it's picked off and he's brought down after the pick and time has expired here in the fourth that was fun and it was big time and it is a confidence Builder to come through waiting moments and win a game
