OTF LIVE Postgame | Texas Routes Michigan, 31-12 | Myron Charles FLIPS! | Quinn Ewers | SEC Football

[Music] [Music] [Music] that was a big one in an arbor long horns took it to the M Michigan Wolverines 31-2 boy I tell you what long horns Rod babers Tony Hills Bobby Burton here with you this is the post game show brought to you by our friends at flight from Yingling guys what a performance by the Longhorns Quinn ERS comes out on fire Steve sarkeesian fire the defense you know this was the if there was a better game plan of get ahead and then make them throw the football I mean was it guys that was it Rod I'll let you start and then we'll bring in Tony in a second give it to us give us your takedown this was epic epic from Arbor yeah it was epic I loved sar's game plan mentality from the get-go right guys took the ball uh I think that the pass rate early on first couple of drives was over 60% put the ball in Quinn ur's hands uh let Quinn and by the way we got to give props to Quinn too Quin Quinn handled the pressure extremely well extraordinary really well NFL Scots are going to love what they saw from Quinn today handling pressure making throws on the move I mean just throwing dimes on the Move thought he was great uh guys I just love the way so many guys gun Helm are we talking about Co love land all day long me all week long we talk about coost Leland best tight end in in the in in college football and yet gunel on the big stage versus Michigan had his best game of his career career day all right versus Michigan guys like Andrew makuba who had a hell of a day uh he was all over the field uh glad Derek Dereck Williams played great at the secondary DBU baby shout out to DBU they they were fantastic uh T Hills we talked about in the pre uh pre-show that the defense looked great love the defensive game plan uh not there's not really a a lot that I can complain about at all with this with this game plan and with this performance today this was a a a well-rounded kind of all-around team win for Texas uh and I thought Steve sarkees did a great job getting his guys ready to play man Quinn was fantastic sar's like I said sark's game plan was it was magnificent yeah absolutely hey Tony I gotta ask you buddy uh what did you think of this game uh the longhorn offensive line came to play I know Steve tarum did him a favor by getting outside a bunch and slowing those big hoses down they had on the inside but Texas was not nonfunctional in the Run game which is what one of the things we were concerned about they had to be somewhat functional what you think Tony man listen phenomenal game plan by SAR absolutely uh I think that one of his biggest things it reminds me a lot of uh Shawn Peyton Shawn Peyton was one of the first offensive coordinators that I seen that would game plan for dominant defensive lineman right so what you saw what Sark would do is when he had the big run Stoppers up there we're just gonna run them side sideline to sideline get them tired once we get them off the field we're going to put our big boys on them we're going to run it out a lot of double team blocks a lot of downhill runs we're going to open up the field a little get the linebackers involved you know show show a lot of passing downs and then give it to him in the mid draw in the middle run some counters run some traps some misdirections all in all uh what you saw from the offensive line was a physical tough line these guys were the bullies today you know I'm always say it and at the end of the day one of the things that I thought that was the play of the game that really got these guys fired up I think it was as they say you know you got to let a sleeping Dragon lie and when you go and you hit Quinn ERS as he after he's already given declared himself down you saw the captain major take over Gotta Give a big shout out to Jake major listen Jake was identifying and setting the front against a professional when I tell you a professional I'm talking about a NFL defensive coordinator I need people to understand what that matchup looks like for a center to be able to identify where the pressure is coming from and set the entire line and all the protection to pick up the guys that they're responsible for to give Quinn that time I thought that when there was a little bit of pressure that was giving up the pressure was giving up the right way on the outside of the line not on the inside they were protecting that inside hip which allowed Quinn to be able to step into the pocket we saw him convert a third down with his legs and then also the uh the shot to gunar hel shout out to Gunner Man I mean this guy was probably not even looked at in the game plan and I know the world is watching now so all in all from the offens of line even until the tight end work phenomenal job phenomenal job hey I saw Juan Davis throw a block on Third and two that popped Jaden Jared Gibson for first down in the red zone I'm like whoa there they found a little something there in the Run game hey Jerry Hamilton joining us as well he he was doing the uh in-game watch as well as Rod Jerry uh he mentioned gunar Helm you and I all season long were thinking hey it's gonna it's probably gonna be a Mari nebach in the passing game it's probably gonna be a Nar Mari neack all Hil Gunner Helm rod and I were talking about during the game Texas has so much speed at wide receiver that Sark is going to get a lot of favorable matchups for gunner Helm uh Tony Hills I'd love your opinion on this too everybody's having to respect Texas Speed so much at why when you're when you put three guys on the field at wide out and the slowest guy runs 108 then you have Jaden blue out of the back field man Sark has a lot of things he can do with Gunner Helm and he can hunt his matchups and that is a great place to be this is one of the things I think makes Texas really scary offensively do NYL Balden Wingo those guys are going to get more comfortable now you saw who was ahead who Sark and Quinn trust we talked about that on the road week two will show you where their trust is golden um in in bond and and then um blah blah blah I'm forgetting what yeah yeah DeAndre you're gonna see these guys get worked more in the rest of the season the next two weeks get to start building this depth but Gunner Helm he's going to have great matchups all season and this is player devel Tony Hills Rod this is Player Development 101 right here for the program uh totally agree yep you start to see more and more of those stories too where guys have you know taken everybody SAR says it right everybody's developmental rate everybody's path all right to achieve their goals a little bit different and gunar H represents one of those guys and now it's crazy Texas we all know the tight end position was an endangered species on the for acres for a while you mean and now you have a JT Sanders and looks like gunar Helm was uh proving to a lot of NFL Scouts who were there that hey man I can play at the next level too and you came here to see coast of Love land but how about that Texas tight end got can play Hey Texas tight end was probably the surprised player of the game anybody anybody surprise player of the game Gunner Helm with a maybe honorable mention to Andrew makuba does that sound fair to everybody that's good absolutely absolutely yeah go ahead Tony no I was just gonna say at the end of the day listen when you look at the the the Firepower that that sarkeesian has with just his imagination and his creativity the problem that defenses are going to have is who do we identify is the guy that Texas is going to go to in press situations right when you have that person that you can identify to say listen when it's third and they third down and they have the game on the line This is their guy we can we can we can do things schematically to plan for that but when everybody around the board are Playmakers and can make plays you can put the ball in in the middle of the belly of the back and get the first you can put it in hels hel and Sh you can put it in his hands now we already seen what Bon was doing when it comes to pressure catches I mean listen this thing this thing is going to continue to roll and at the end of the day when you have the offensive line that gets better as the game goes on that's a problem I talked about this before when you have 1,800 plus pounds leaning on you for four quarters at the end when you start getting in the War of Attrition that third quarter that mid third quarter you'll start to see it change I started seeing a lot of hands on the hip I started seeing guys not run to the ball I started seeing all of that excitement that they had at the beginning of the game that hype that adrenaline wear off and now you got to play Big Boy football and I think that that's where Texas is going to thrive week in and week out good hey light the damn Tower boys big win 31 to 12 in the big house a long horns taking it home I I tell you what uh you know I I mentioned surprise player of the game Gunner Helm maybe Andrew mouba I'm gonna give you the player of the game uh and that is Quinn ERS show us his stats Matt this uh young man came to the big house and he did it right 24 of 36 246 yards three touchdowns hey he took care of the football even when the game was hey look the game was still tight took care of it had a couple of close calls Maybe but whenever Texas went up by two scores there was nothing that Quinn years did other than protect the football Texas gets out of Ann Arbor with a h you know just a solid man I don't even know how to say this solid win what did you see guys from Quinn youer specifically my feeling and Matthew mccon was talking about it at halftime so I know it ain't just I'm not the only one that saw it if MC said seen it he stepped up bers he stepped up in the pocket and made plays yeah it's just the uh the Poise right that he showed he made the right decisions in those critical moments uh whether it was sometimes it was just throwing the football away you know and not and not making the a bad decision right he was there are times where I've noticed panic in Quin y's game when there's pressure on him appli by the defense uh there was no Panic uh in Queen ur's game today it was only Poise and he was was cool calming collected in the most critical of moments in the game and that's why I think and I said it after CJ baxer got hurt guys I said it you guys heard me I said man give the offense to Quinn give it to Quinn he's a third year starting quarterback in the system this is when we see all the great ones Ascend you know col ascended during this time this is when VY ascended the greats they ascended third year starting quarterback in a system and I think you know you give it to him you lead with the pass that's what he did in this game they LED with the pass they gave it to hell you were up 31 I believe the G you were up like 31- six at one point and guys that was a second and long and he that was a straight dropback pass by Quinn it was just straight drop back to throw it that's how much he trusts him now game is in your hands man go back I know you're gonna make the right decision I know you're not gonna go out there and make a bad decision I know you're not go out there and panic in a critical moment and that's what I saw from him today and I that's a lot of growth that's against and I mean t Hills just brought it up multiple times an NFL defensive coordinator all right that is trying his best to play mind games with Quin yours and to manipulate the looks uh to try to deceive Quin and to discombobulate him and he did not look discombobulated or rattled in the least guys and that's the best I've seen him throw the football I think on the Move every every all his big throws were on the Move whether Golden One the beautiful throw to gunam where he maneuvered in the pocket a little bit I mean his way his ability to throw off platform on the move I think it's something they Showcase in this game too that third down throw to to Matthew golden in the first half was money he threw it while he is on the move and golden kind of slid inside for about a 20- yard gain hey before we go on and talk a little bit more we want to say thank you to our sponsor uh we're allowed to have great guests uh like Jerry and Rod and Tony Hills because we have good sponsors or great sponsors flight is the next generation of Light beer with only 95 calories it's an upscale light beer designed to elevate the customer experience with more taste and just 4.2 Gams of carbs flight's an easy to drink beer with a crisp taste try flight from Yingling thanks to the fine folks at flight and our friends at fa Distributing uh guys we would be remiss if we did not also talk about the defense hey they had a game plan for Michigan and once they decided to make them onedimensional that game was over Jerry what' you think of that yeah Rod's been talking about it Michigan can't throw the ball down the field um and I'm not sure even then from a pass protection standpoint they're built to do that on the offensive line this one they lost a lot of guys uh but but once Texas had made them and they were they were aggressive in coverage as well right but once Michigan became a one-dimensional team they can't can't run two minute on you they can't go up and down the field in six plays throwing the football on you they can't throw the ball down the field on you so what happens then you have a quarterback Davis Warner I he's a walk on you give him credit for for going all the way to start but he's got a long release he drops the ball below the water so he's what he sees with his eyes he's two split seconds late getting out of his hand that is a great spot to be in for the Texas defense if you're winning up front against the run because those secondary guys they've done their homework they know that long release they know it takes them a while to get the ball there but as Rod the Rod's Point once Michigan had to become a passing team they were toast in this game you can you know they ran the Flea Flicker early right you can spring something on somebody but you can't change your identity you Michigan can't change their identity of who they are they don't have the personnel and they are who they are Texas was going to force them today that for them to have to make an identity change you can't do that doesn't work that way I I loved that they went to Ashton orgy early in the first half right with that third and two what did Sark and the the defense coordinators do they call the timeout right and then they swarmed him yeah that that was and then that was that they were looking at trying to get that guy to surprise Texas that was still when the game was in doubt right guys because really we're talking about most of the first half I mean I want to go over the first half stats with y'all because they are mindblowing I mean in favor of the long horns mind blowing let's talk a little bit about some of these super chats hey Bobby while you do that I'm gonna back outen I'm gonna listen to Craig way I'll be back see what see what Sark has to say the perfect good stuff good stuff Jerry hey D money we came we saw we C conquered weeny wey weaky there we go baby Scott sturgeon who moved up NFL draft boards today maybe Quinn you maybe Andrew macuba maybe gunar Helm anybody else for you guys listen Kelvin Banks is a dog you understand when you're looking at when you're looking at Quinn yours if if Quinn had pressure it wasn't coming from the backside right and the thing that I liked you want to know the thing that I liked was it pertains to here's the the intimacy and the intricacy of the game I like the fact that our young right tackle struggled early and battled back like he did that hostile environment right when you talk about going to an environment with so much on the line and now you're the guy and this is your first experience did we have some some some penalties absolutely that's expected that's a part of the growth but when you look at his overall game the domination there was was phenomenal so like I I I look at this team Bobby and I'm and I'm telling you we're we're getting better right and and if you look at today's game everything was was intermar from SAR and and Pete and PK with their calls and making sure that they're seeing what they're seeing and and getting done what they want to get done from the way that the defense and the offense were were helping one another right we scored 10 points off of two turnovers right so when you think about how the defense is getting the ball back and then the offense is going in and cashing and rewarding those turnovers with points that's the type of thing that can deflate another team and you saw that in this game today yep I think uh to T Hills brought up earlier Jake major I think made some money too I think Jay major made himself some money yeah I'll put him on that list I love it guys I love when you hear X NFL guys say good things about because they recognize it folks they've seen it they know what it looks like they're Dev Texas is developing guys right now rod and Tony and that has to make feel good as former players you see the guys buy in then you you see them work at it and then execute it and then it pays off that's just that's awesome dude my favorite story of the day honestly I think it's gunam I'm sorry I think I can't I just I'm getting over this dude having his best game of the season in this game with everybody talking about the other tight end I'm and another thing about and you remember this Bobby because and T HS we've we've been you know obviously during the training camp and going to all the player availabilities and listening to the players interviews he's been very serious like he's been very businesslike in his approach to heels he's been I mean you should listen to him it almost kind of give me chills when I hear him talk he's been very businesslike and he he's been very matter of fact and his approach and his uh focus and really to see it pay off for the young man like this I that's I'm I'm really excited for him and like everybody said I now defensive coordinators got to add him to the list they gotta add him to the list okay now we gotta now we gotta worry about game planning for gunar Helm as well on certain in certain situations a lot of stuff to worry about man that's a lot of that's a lot of threats across he Rod I'm give you I'mma give you a name Rod I'mma give you a name you ready I'm GNA pull this one from the from the throwback gym you ready for this give it to so when you say you said tight end that people weren't really thinking about when you say a tight end that you know people weren't really you know game planning for and all of a sudden this guy pops out of nowhere and he's very businesslike and very serious there was a guy that we both know and played with r that took on that same demeanor and had that same type of skill set by the name of David Thomas hey that's true good point I'm saying I see a lot when you talk about being able to catch the ball he's consistent doing the the right things the right way in the Run game be playing assignment and Alignment football being aggressive and playing physical there's a lot of DT this is like a bigger version of the David Thomas that I see with gun Helm so like you in my notes that's the guy that I got highlighted and bold right Gunner Helm is a is is a man's man and and I think that even coming down the line you're going to see a lot more of him because you like I said who do you game plan for on Texas right it's a matchup game so today was Gunner Helm next week it could be anybody so from at that at this particular Point man I'm just so excited that we have this fire Squad by committee s and the team has done a wonderful job identifying the caliber of player that they want yep all right hey I got a couple more and rod these are pointed to you nicolan Morel uh first rod D played today and the random Hodes Mitchell love from last week you know like Hawks ball Hawks in the secondary we talked about this they got more ball Hawks than they and I know ball Hawks because I wasn't one of them but I played with a lot I wasn't one but see he was I played with a bunch I played with nasty D I played with Michael I played with some but I wasn't one so I know you can be a good player without being a ball Hawk but you need those guys in your secondary and you can't coach it you got it that that's natural that's ingrained you programmed they think ball I didn't think ball I I went to the man and the man took me to the ball some guys they believe they got a right to the football it's mine it's my football and and when the ball snap that's what they thinking about and you got more players that are Havoc minded players like that now on the defense especially in the secondary so uh man this secondary I this the thing I'm recognizing about the defense overall just that I'm really happy about they two games in a row and it's still a small sample size it seems to focus to take away a team strength let just take away their strength and and let and after that like bich check in almost T heels we'll let the chip for they make you can beat us left-handed you can beat us doing something that is outside of your identity he you know what that God bless you but we gonna take away what you do well they did it to Colorado State and they did it to Michigan and those those are two brands of football two identities offensively that are it's distinct everybody knows what they are you got air raid hard ball football and Texas shut them both down pretty much absolutely Absol fresh BRD says I saw DBU Swagger today their body language is infectious and so much more love seeing all those Michigan footballs stuck on a sword nothing wrong with that defla football hey we got a bunch of other super chats we're going to get to thank you all for joining us we have over 2,000 folks here uh on the YouTube channel right now simultaneously hook them horns to everybody Texas wins 31-2 convincing Victory uh in and Arbor uh rod babers and Tony Hills uh I want to give you guys these stats from just the first half this is how dominant I mean absolutely utterly dominant Texas was in the first half 15 first downs to four third down and this is just the first half eight of 10 versus one of five total yards 279 to 88 27 rushing 19 for 76 versus 10 for 39 that's that goes to Jerry's point then you look at turnovers Two To None but I tell you what this is the big one time of possession in the first half guys 19 minutes for the Longhorns compared to just 1054 for the Wolverines and we were worried that the Wolverines were going to be the ones to come out and sit on the ball I they have no two-minute offense by the way it's more like a 10-minute offense they they don't snap the ball before five seconds if they have a chance but my point is this game was decided in the first half I think we all probably agree with that right at some level but dude they Longhorns dominated dominated in the first half in my opinion you youan you you or turnley or Jerry y'all want to talk about that that do I got a question for Tony on that but here's what Quinn ERS just said in his postgame with Craig way where the keys today score in Red Zone convert on big third Downs rod babers that's what Quinn said were his keys the guy and asked about today what going into the game what his thoughts were uh but Tony I want to ask you this Texas wins a toss we've talked about this on prior shows Texas wins a toss Sark takes the ball we talk about it from a Quinn standpoint and receiver standpoint what does that say for the offensive line what are the what does the offensive line reaction that hell yeah man let's go do this thing absolutely absolutely put it in our hands like at the end of the day we want to set like the offensive line is always going to set the tempo right we're going to determine how this game is going to be played and it was determined early that like I said last uh last uh the last time I was on here guys okay we might take a shot we'll split the blood out now you got to see our right hook and that's what we showed right so when we get the ball first the first thing that we want to do is set the tempo and I love the fact that you get out there you call a physical play because at the end of the day we got to be able to have that contact to say okay now we're in the game now we're ready so I love it and and and I think that the more that you continue to see the growth and the development of of a cam Williams that merges in with all of the other starts that our guys have the more dominant we're going to be I'm G to throw this out there you can call me being biased but you would have to show me a better offensive line than Texas right now when you think about the starts when you think about where they where they've come from and where they are when you think about the the the type of protection that they're giving Quinn and and the receivers and the backs to be able to put up these type of numbers man you like I don't think there was no was there any sacks do we have any sacks given up today I don't think there was a sack given up today h i don't know I yeah I don't think so I'm gota go check okay yeah so let's keep let's keep this in mind guys there's no sacks giving up to a a a NFL caliber defensive coordinator with a defense that looked pretty good that looked pretty good right so I I'm looking at this and I'm saying if we can pick these type of Blitz Blitz uh combinations up you don't stand a chance trying to play us man for man so I'm I'm excited about what it is that what's going on with Coach flood in that offensive line over there Jerry man I didn't realize that t you brought it up I and and and that's this is why that's a beautiful thing because it is the offensive line and their maturity um but also Quinn was able to you know maneuver in the pocket abut and times so those few times where the pressure did get to him he did not panic and he still was able to deliver the football or get rid of the football and make the right decision it's a it's a group effort but you're right about that o line man that's today against the best D tackle duo in college football arguably and you know that can wreck a game because Texas had that last year and T sweat and Bayern Murphy were wrecking games all right week in and week out they did not wreck this game plan for Texas no no they did not and I like I'll give credit to Old Line number one Jake major in that group I mean and I love your point about cam Williams Because man T we've all been in that situation where you have a bad couple of plays to start a game oh it's one thing to have bad play you gon have a bad play you know you're human right you G have a bad play here or there but when you have bad plays to start a game and like Mo that cost your team seven points Rob yes oh yeah it can s it can send you spiraling potentially if you you're not mentally strong it can in a big game like this too by the way big game bad plays early on I was worried about young Cam man the bounceback factor the mental fortitude to the young man the bounce back and not let that you know turn into a down resp spiral form I'll give him credit for that as well so the all line that I mean he's the he's the youngest so I we were not surprised right he's the on that old line they they got they returned 45 Stars he's the new guy um so I wasn't surprised that he started out little rocky but I I love the bounce back and I'm with you on the old line man the old Line's going to be this good in pass protection I will double down on My Philosophy give it to Quinn give it to Quinn man give the offense to Quinn it's his offense now the running the running game's gonna be good but the running game's gonna complement the passing game teams fear your passing game they don't fear your running game your running gamees all right it ain't nothing wrong with it right it's perfectly fine but your your passing game man now with Gunna hm added to the mix Jaden blue D Jaden blue had over six catches dude yeah he had six targets last week he had six catch this week I'll give you random stat you know and because I don't know if he's going to be a thousand yard rush or not but you know the last person to have at least 30 rushes and 40 receptions in a season for Texans Chris oia wow to have at least 30 rushes and 40 receptions in a season I call it my 30 40 club before that it was Eric meta Eric meaf did it twice he's a freak Jaden blue might be in that club this year guys he might be in a 30 40 club it's very rare to be that much of a weapon in the passing game but also that much of a weapon in the running game and he's gonna be both he's G it it's rare man but that's so it's I'm with you man and I think that's why the passing game to me more and more not that not that t Hills pointed out I didn't realize they didn't have they allowed zero sacks against this defense against weak martinell who's the blitz happiest defensive coordinator at any level of football college or Pro and who is the one of the most creative pressure package designers in football and they couldn't get the Quinn and they were a heavy pass team they were 60% pass rate in the first half they were throwing the football still couldn't get to him a lot hey I love it guys I love it there's some thoughts here hey Jerry uh you from Harry Hamilton here uh this is Jerry before manscaped there's one for you then we have also Barry Hamilton Jerry thoughts on Gibson and wiser Barry Hamilton this is a new one on Gibson and Wiser's performances after blue was banged up for a bit Jerry's cloch hasag manscape what what do you think here Jerry wiser and Gibson Gibson was great in the red zone Great what happened to Chiron Mo today is very rare you sign a contract and get manscaped the same day man come on Bow Man that's a low blow Harry Hamilton also says we needed a segment called cutting it close uh with Jerry sponsored by manscaped uh Joel Haymon oh this is a talk about our friend uh looking good in early Downs oh yeah uh in uh in early early in the year as a as a true freshman what y'all think of Colin Simmons Joel Heyman dude looked like Simmons was three yards off the line of scrimmage before any other lineman even moved boy he made Michigan move pocket uh he got he got home he at least made the the quarterback step up he made the thing go for Texas I thought I my my my thought was wow Texas people aren't just gonna be able to sit back and wait for Texas and let Texas throw on them and and figure it out Texas going to get home Trey Moore chased the quarterback back one time out of the pocket I mean they've got some pass rush guys now I love and I love the the the NASCAR dime has become like that's something they I thought may have been hey Colorado State specific because they're an air raid they broke it out versus Michigan in third and long so they like that where they had they bring three Edge rushers on the field in and part as part of the front and they play dime behind it that I call a NASCAR dime I don't know what they call it we gotta ask Johnny nanson or ask the players but they run it a lot so it's a staple now you get a team in turn long and that's the nasty pack you like to bring out with Colin Simmons out there Trey Moore is out there Baron cell they bump him inside Vernon bren's the D tackle with it they got Anthony Hill out there sometimes they mug Anthony Hill up into the into the the B Gap or the a Gap a little and they do they did with Jay Baron today too they did B they mugged him up in that I believe the B Gap as well and they have the DBS playing behind it they played inverted Tampa too behind it I seen today they play cover two behind it so they they got some different coverages they're playing behind it too I love that's my favorite package they broken out so far love that when they went single high when Texas went single high man blint Rod they caused a lot of problems right because at the end of the day what's taking place is because of what you're talking about um and and I said this I was talking to my brother Jeremy later on today and I said is it possible that the thing that was the weakest point last year might be the strength this year is it possible because the way that the secondary is playing is giving time for these pass rushers to get here and you have somebody like seamons Simmons right now who's just a true freshman with the ball get off that he has if you can find a way to put him and Anthony Hill Jr on the other side and find a way to mix Trey maybe in the inside maybe from a standup in position dick Lao one of the greatest defensive coordinators that I used to have and he he had this blitz that was hell for us to pick up in practice called the cross dog Blitz where you cross where you you run a three- down lineman you have two linebackers that are shaded on the opposite sides and you have a or we'll throw a trio or put put the safety in that is a lot for a offensive line to handle to sort out if you could find your best pass rushes on on passing downs and create some sort of package where you can put Hill treymore and Simmons on the field I'm telling you you're going to cause havoc in a lot of turnovers because these guys are hungry they're looking for the ball Rod right you were one of the great greatest uh pbu Corners that Texas has ever had it was once said that nobody catches the ball on my side not even me right so at the end of the day these SEC this secondary is is opportunistic and they're getting after it if you can find a way to put these pass rushes on the field and get after it I'm telling you it's going to be a long day for opposing offenses yeah good point I love that dick leau reference it's a beautiful thing yeah hey that's hey I'm telling you you're right about that because Anthony Hill remember last year SAR said Anthony Hill was the best was one of their best pass rushers um and it was a young Anthony Hill so I'm with you man that dude on the edge with Trey Moore and with a young Colin Simmons they got that that BG there's no doubt about that um all right uh getting back to some a couple of these super chats here appreciate you guys and all your participation uh Mike uh says excellent learning experience for cam Williams mistakes will only make him better Michigan dline was a virtual nonone Factor as was Donovan Edwards at uh running back yeah and I hope we don't because this was the narrative last year T Hills was when Texas beat um Alabama in Tuscaloosa well uh Nick sain is falling off the program Alabama's falling off they're not what they used to be Texas caught him at a good time Texas caught them on you know the downturn of the program that kind of thing and that was the narrative and then they make the playoff everybody goes man Alabama still pretty damn good and Texas makes and I don't know what what's the is Michigan is just obviously Texas is really good we know that how bad is Michigan I mean it's do we expect Michigan to be a competitive team in the Big 10 I dude I don't know I I know you're talking to Tony Tony I don't mean to answer but I gotta say this no you're good let let's first let's first go to SARS postgame presser and then keep that in the queue for Tony Hills here's Sark postgame guys uh super proud of our team you know um this is a tough place to come and win you know they obviously had won 23 in a row here and um this is a you know obviously a quality opponent and so for our players to come in and play with the Poise and composure that they played with um but yet also um the physicality and the toughness we had to play with today um I thought they just did a really nice job and as much as you know that first drive gosh we kind of stubbed our Toe with some self-inflicted wounds I really thought they the offense regrouped and settled in and found a nice Rhythm there especially in the second quarter and defensively just continued to win on first down which which enabled us to play second long third and Long football uh in our favor you know there's not many games I've been a part of when you you win the turnover battle three to nothing it's generally a pretty good result for your team and so the ability to take care of the ball offensively um and create some turnovers defensively I thought was also huge in the game um you know I thought also offensively the fact that you know we stayed ahead of the chains you know we just didn't have many you know negative plays tackles for loses we kind of stayed in front of the chains and then the third down conversions were huge you know I think we were 8 to 10 in the first half 10 to 16 overall for the game uh and I think holding them to like 3 for 12 or something like that so we were getting off the field there as well um so all in all super proud of our team um in a in a again a tough building against a tough team that uh you know over 111,000 people here today uh but I got to give credit to LongHorn nation y'all showed out man that was awesome what what an environment uh what a moment for for our players and our staff to uh sing The Eyes of Texas there at the end with with the amount of orange in the stands was was really a special moment for our players so uh at the end of the day like I said earlier in the week this one game isn't going to Define our season uh but I think it would serve as a pretty good barometer of the type of team that we could be and uh you know I I think that our versatility showed up today in all three phases um our ability to run it be physical our ability to uh to play the run on defense but yet minimize the explosive plays on defense uh and be effective on special teams so all in all um it's a good start to the season we're two and0 but we we got a long way to go yeah it's uh that's I mean I in terms of impressive wins that's one of the more impressive wins I've seen from a Texas football team all around it was just an all-around win I mean I was I'm trying to think of the if you're watching it and you're watching the film what are you critiquing as a coach because that's where you got to get into now yeah I got to critique these guys and Coach them up maybe at the defense you're talking about the the quarterback breaking contain a couple of times um and some of those contested catches maybe that's what you get on the defense about maybe and I'm trying to think about on offense I guess the penalties early on with with Kev Williams and the misfield goal I guess that's a couple things but there just not a lot of there was not a lot of negative for Texas in this game from start to finish overall we're back not a lot of negative at all R to your point I'll tell you this if we're being nitpicky because I mean at the end of the day you want to be great you're chasing Excellence right uh I would say just making sure we stay in our Gap and we see what we see not guessing I know the 12 yard pop off that Edwards had was you know Benda jumped out of Gap want to make that play if he would have just stayed in his Gap would have came right to him uh you know when we talk about the flea figure right that's assignment that's trust in your eyes man that's assignment football stay back you know uh on the offensive side of the ball I mean listen we from we didn't we didn't execute like we wanted to every drive we we want to get better on that right obviously we talked about cam early being able to take points off the ball if we look at special teams I mean we got to have it right at the end of the day pushed it R right we got to have it so those are some things that we can set up we can we can nitpick on to be able to bring this win down and put it in perspective hey guys we still got a lot of ball going it's it's you know it's on to the we'll we'll enjoy this win it's on to the next week let's figure out where we can continue to get better at those were the only couple of things that I saw but all in all man I mean listen you go on the road against the defending national champions in a crowd of over 100,000 people and you you assert dominance welcome back we missed hey doin last year it was a last year was a 10-point win in Tuscaloosa this year it's a 19point win in Aon Arbor and it was this game was over in the first half I mean yeah I still had the jitterbugs right in my stomach but this game was pretty much over at halftime after the coulston Loveland fumble and that what a whale of a pass by the way from Quinn ERS to Matthew golden right at the end of the half for the touchdown yeah guys we talked about all offseason Rod Texas and Quinn ERS had to get better in the Red Zone that's one of the things he talked about in postgame uh I would say that his toss to Matthew golden was indicative of that what do you think yeah um I think it was it's Sark and uh the offense overall right it's it was cuz star never really figured out if it was one particular thing or element that was holding back the offense in the Red Zone um and when he was asked about he said honestly he blamed himself as one of the reasons he said I you know I was a little inconsistent in the Red Zone didn't really have an identity in the Red Zone he also talked about the the bejan and Rojo uh you know element losing those guys as a factor but this season whatever they did and it seems like more than anything they're just more efficient overall in the Red Zone uh but I think sark's play calling though has been also really um extraordinary because he has been able to to engineer a lot of one-on ones in the Red Zone think about the one on the tou the passes right in the Red Zone think about the there is one-on ones he the rub route to Matthew golden um the Isaiah Bond ends up being a one1 on that side because he got the it was a formation basically where he had I think three trips to one side so a three by one and he was a singer receiver and even in this game essentially they engineered another one-on-one on the outside and then Quinn made an NFL throw because I mean very few players could make a throw like that in such a small tight window so yeah I think sark's just doing a great job overall he kind of figured out who they want to be their identity and who they want to be in the red zone and by the way some of it is relying on Quinn more they're doing more straight drop back in the Red Zone too less uh deception based passing game some of less of the RP and more just straight drop back with Queen so we can get right into the progressions quicker hey guys this one from jeray J R 626 Tony loved our o sticking up for the Q after the late hit Jerry Jerry or Tony this is the type of attitude rol has needed for years what' you think of that T man listen I'm telling you man I I told you last time I said one of the most important people in Texas in Texas facility is Kyle flood I've met Kyle flood we've had some conversations and I can tell you that his mentality and my my mentality are very similar at the end of the day we are going to play a physical style of football and that is the standard the standard is the standard to quote the great Mike Tomlin and we're not accepting anything else I can handle you getting beat I can't handle you getting out physical that's a mentality and what you saw is not only were they sticking up for for Quinn they were sticking up for everybody out there man I saw guys getting put on the ground listen you might as well get that maple syrup out 100% organic of course because there were a lot of Pancakes be a lot of film to watch that that people are going to be on and on on those guys played a phenomenal physical brand of football and I'm G tell you this guys as as much as I love Innovation from offensive coordinators sometimes you can get too Innovative the thing that I like about Sark is when he's seeing that the Run game is is is is working he's not going to go away from that and when he wants to pop his big play You're that's when you're going to see a gun on him like gunar was getting hit a lot of the times when he was those targets were coming off of play action why were they coming off of play action because they're getting beat up up front so when we see run we're selling out that leaves the back window open right over the linebackers right in between the safeties and that's where he was winning at so all in all it all works hand inand I just think that they played a a a collaborative in in Co cohesive effort of ball today from Special Teams let's talk about the kickoff team right one of the things that you can always take take a look at when you're looking at the kickoff team you can see if guys are running out of their Lane because they're trying to make the play as opposed to playing alignment and assignment football when you watch the film on the kickoff team right the couple of times that they did get an opportunity to get out there man it was all straight line people in their Lanes which not which doesn't create explosives so I know people would say well why would that be an important tidbit because that's the type of thing when your offense isn't rolling from Michigan side that can get you back in the game on a long return right because Texas is too excited too aggressive in that particular regard and now you give up a big play and they get a cheap touchdown right and now you're back in the game so that's why I'm saying when I say the Special Teams the offense and the defense played they were intermarried with one another I loved everything about it and especially on the road he I want to back I wanna uh piggyback off of what Tony said did I want to give you what SAR just said in his interview with Craig way and will Matthews I I I didn't hear that SAR postgame interview y'all play but I've been waiting for the next Casey stuttered that plays on the interior Texas that's not taking No from anybody that's DJ Campbell DJ Campbell still he's still a developing player but he ain't taken from anybody I've been waiting to see that next guy that stuff is so important in a team to me on an offensive line Casey stutter and Tony you played with him you watched it he gave as talented as you were Jonathan Scott and all those guys were what Casey brought to the team not letting anybody with anybody that stuff's big man listen I am not an All-American without Casey stutter Casey stutter raised me so let's just let's just thr that between Jonathan Scott and Casey stutter that's how you get an All-American out of Tony Hills you guys remember man I was a tight end so coming into the offensive line room like there listen this is the standard and this is what we do right and so I I love the Casey stutter DJ Campbell um comparison because I see that as well like at the at the end of the day man this is the way the game has to be played you you can have all this fancy stuff going to misdirections but on Third and one you got to have it and you're consistent in getting it that's what wins you championships and so I I love the mentality I love the physicality most importantly the thing that I see with these guys phenomenal phenomenal phenomenal technique phenomenal technique getting pads under pads getting butt stick together to be able to move those double team they were listen don't get it twisted if Sark had decided that he wanted to run downhill against these guys Texas would have been up for the task I think it was a smart plan to be able to stretch them and get them moving sideline to sideline to Tire them and gas them out and when you got the Rota rotating players back in they were a little smaller in the butt okay now we're g to put this 1,00 pounds on you see if you really want to play and we just listen from from start to finish like Bobby talked about it was just a domination in the middle of the field if we stay on that path there's a there's there's a lot of excited Texas fans that are going to be having some uh some nice little after parties at the end of all of these games I'll just say that much hey you talking about after you're you talking about After parties right now R CJ vogle is getting ready to go have one I think he's breaking news breaking news my Charles just flipped the Texas from FSU I'm telling you torns baby hey there was a there was a question Jerry that came up here hold on is second got I gotta show it Jerry what does this do for recruiting I think I think it means a win Charleson Charles defensive lineman Port Char just flipped from Florida State to Texas damn they didn't take long seen it have to do that video later today Jerry Hamilton yeah we'll have to do that later hey CJ uh if CJ's around we can get him back in now Matt if you don't mind uh CJ vogle our guy on s there at the big house look at him he's from the hill the big house is empty baby what's going on CJ well I they quiet house today ah there's an easy joke there but no it was it was a blast I'm sure y'all have broken it down well sarkeesian very proud of his team as you would expect you walk in on the road to a top 10 team's house and quite frankly uh wasn't very competitive in that second half right you know you know what this team was limited on offensively obviously I thought Texas did a a great job of creating pressure and creating turnovers you know the speed showed up today Andrew makuba was everywhere uh and hey uh real quick a little pat on the back for me one point off on my score prediction so uh 31 to 13 I wish they would have kicked the field goal I'm about to be as the most mad person in this entire environment right now but hey I'll take 312 that's pretty close Big Stuff CJ uh what were some of your takeaways uh from this game just quickly and based on what you heard in the postgame press conferences yeah this was all Quinn eers for me to get started the way that Texas did I know it wasn't great offensively on that first drive you had a couple of penalties Quinn I thought we've talked about it in the in the the offseason leading up to this year for Quin to be in that Heisman conversation he has to put the cape on I thought today he had the cape on right there were plays that he's made today I don't think we've seen at all with him in a Texas uniform to be able to make those throws on the Run to be able to avoid pressure in which uh there was a lot early on right he was on the run a good bit he made some runs he had a great third down conversion with his legs I thought today was one of Quinn's best performances overall three touchdowns I know this the the numbers passing wise maybe uh you know maybe not statistically his best game but my goodness I thought that was one of the best starts that he had he was on fire to begin he had over a 100 passing yards in the first quarter came out on fire it was all Quin ERS for me there good stuff CJ I thank you so much CJ let us know if you need anything go have some fun go back to the tailgate I was at earlier take care of yourself CJ thanks buddy we'll see you in Austin thanks CJ hey Jerry going back real quick breaking news from Jer Jerry Hamilton also posted on uh Twitter as well myON Charles defensive lineman out of Port Charlotte Florida Jerry uh has committed to the Longhorns uh he was committed to Florida State prior to the season but uh Tony rod guys this stuff happens when one team is 0 and2 and the other team goes up and shellacs the Wolverines Jerry what do you think about this commitment for the Longhorns uh massive massive commitment for Texas look I mean think about what's happened since August 7th Texas won a national recruitment for a five-star receiver in Jacksonville Florida I told Jamie frce we're gonna have an interview with him on on our YouTube channel in the next couple days I told him yesterday that you're the first player from Jacksonville that's a national recruitment I've ever seen that Texas won and he didn't even know it he was kind of taking back now you think about that he committed to Texas August 30th September 7th now myON Charles flips from FSU from Port Charlotte Florida Texas is not now just winning in Orlando and at IMG they're winning in in different areas of Florida Port Charlotte now is still in that Southwest Corridor but that's not a school Texas has ever won a recruitment at Mandarin High Jacksonville never won a recruitment at hey Tony this is Tony's first time seeing myON Charles myON Charles is a got he's a typical Florida kid public school kid they don't have the strength in condition in the Texas they don't have to set up but this dude is very talented 64290 uh got quick got quickness got strength he's an 80 plus wingspan guy I saw him last Spring Texas now is two of the top defensive tackles in the class they're going to go sign four uh they got Joseph inbaku from Grayson coming in in two weeks watch out for that dude he's a bad mofo but this is a huge win because Texas is getting guys from the state of Florida which they never have as a program before and like Jamie French said he kind of reiterated this Texas moving to the SEC has made this possible and then winning the football games uh so this is a huge recruitment for Texas man two defensive tackles in the class now two guys with that are top 150 level prospects in the country like Tony Hills and Rod babers were that normally get you drafted if you do it right uh but these are two of the better defensive of line prospects in the country and two guys that have now flipped from Oregon and Florida State good stuff Jerry good stuff hey let's go back to the game a little bit we'll talk more about myON Charles a little later today Jack laa I am stunned by how well the defense played basically dominant and the o line was awesome yall agree right I mean the defense set the tone three it out first possession just what the doc doctor ordered second possession they moved it a little bit but clamped it down they gave the offense time to build a lead I thought and then kind of put the vice grip on them you know what I mean I thought the defense played terrific today we've mentioned makuba I'll tell you another group that played well you mentioned uh earlier uh maybe David Benda missing a spot one time Tony but the linebackers you know we can talk about the variety they put forward at uh at defensive line whether it was Baron or Vernon Bron or Bill Norton or Alfred Collins they put a bunch of guys out on the field right at linebacker for the most part it was Anthony Hill and David vinda and they they were ready for Michigan guys I thought that I think I know we we need to give props to the pass rush as well as the secondary but man I'm telling you I thought the linebackers played well today too and it it was going to be a test for them going into this what do you think Rod uh yeah no I I thought uh the defense you know once again they took away A team's identity uh which is tough to do and they for the second week in a row and I and I think that's going to be a theme throughout the season Johnny nanson with the Johnny nanson impact and effect it's gonna be take away a team strength first of all identified take away a team strength and then force them to beat you left-handed and uh Texas opponents won't be able to do that because that's when I think Texas ultimately can really start to make some of those Splash plays when you got uh you know Michigan trying to throw the football which we saw a lot of interceptions because they're operating outside of their identity and their formula to win and I think you know to me that's I believe going to be the the unique quality about this defense because they're so versatile they can do that right if you're if you're built One Way defensively like last year Texas couldn't stop the pass so yeah they can stop the run bet maybe the best team in the country at stopping the run but hell now you've made it easy on teams like well they're good at stopping the run and we don't run to run on them anyway we want to throw it against them anyway so you can't be versatile enough to say all we going to take away a team strength whatever it may be this team actually defense wasse may be versatile enough and what's been the buzzword for SAR all offseason I've been telling y'all versatility versatility versatility in recruiting but also in now development especially in the back seven they want versatility so that they can be malleable enough defensively and there was no defense more malleable and more multiple last season than Arizona's defense and Johnny nanson was the defensive coordinator there so you got a coordinator that's also good at at bringing out multiple um hybrid fronts and schemes and you have a defense now with the kind of athletes that are versatile enough to be able to execute those and that's why one week you can shut down the air raid and the next week you can shut down the power Run game of a Michigan and I think the week after that it's going to be identifying the the identity of UTSA and taking that away you couldn't do that last year you didn't have the versatility to do that the last defense they had that kind of Versatility might be talking about man maybe 20089 you had that kind of Versatility you can we we we'll take away whatever we want to because we're that good uh Hey breaking news we just mentioned byra Charles commits to the University of Texas more breaking news but it's not really breaking because they beat him up in the first half so bad uh it's you know the game was over but Texas wins 31 to12 over Michigan guys we've got some uh Super Chat going this one from John rafy on Texas football team you guys are fantastic thank you so much for Super Chat Brady spell I did not see a question if you can uh add one to the chat and want it answered please feel free to do that uh also a couple of other comments Connor vau Texas turned the big house into the out house big house became the Woodshed we like that this is the next one that I want to get to and this is for you guys guys let's have a little conversation about our coach Jas Joseph cotell I think we can all step back and agree we've got a coach and here's what I want to say and reason I mentioned that the recruiting part at the front of it and the domination in the first half S I know that that the players have to go out and execute not not debating that you switch quarterbacks on these two teams Michigan probably wins I I get it right but Sark dominated today and he's doing it in recruiting too right it's not just he's not just doing it on the field he's developing players he's recruiting well he's doing all of those things and we've mentioned his use of the portal Andrew mouba had a whale of a day so what what are y'all's thoughts on uh Steve sarkeesian do you think we quote unquote have a coach absolutely he's a players Coach man this guy came in with a plan and he said it from the beginning he was going to raise he was going to raise kids and turn them into men they were going to do things the right way and we've heard it said all before but then he went out there and proved it what sarc is able to do and and and I'll tell you this um experience brings knowledge and the application of knowledge in the right places brings wisdom right and so what you see is because of the things that sarks has been able to go through in his past a lot of that he's able to relate to these kids kids that might have come in before and might have had some mistakes or might be going through things it's more than just this is the intimate details of the football locker room it's more than that when you hear these kids talk about SAR one of the things that they talk about is he's relatable right he understands me he knows where I'm coming from those are the type of things that you want to go into a locker room I I've been in a locker room like that uh Rob 2005 when we went to uh or 2004 we went to the Michigan game the reason why Vince was so comfortable telling the world that we would be back is because we had the same core group of people we had the family atmosphere we had the coach we had all the people around us that understood who we were what we were and how we were going to take care of each other in the locker room Coach Brown made made it that way sarc is doing the same thing so it's not just about the X's and O's guys it's about the human nature of the athlete as well and I don't think that anybody does it better than him and the proof is in the pudding this is the reason why you can get guys to flip was it a dominant showing on Michigan yes but you best believe that that guy has somebody in the Texas Locker that's been in his ear saying man it's a family and we care about each other and it shows on the field and when you're playing for that guy next to you I'm telling you when you get in those pressure situations it's going to come a time and point where Texas is challenged and they're in a crucial situation and you'll see that that not only that training but the fact that I don't want to let that man down I don't want to let my coach down that's the thing that is going to take you over the edge when I've been on championship teams that that's what I've saw I've seen and that's what I'm seeing today with SAR so yeah absolutely we got a coach and he's young so he's going to be here for a long time college football you better get ready hey what I want to back up uh piggy back off Tony what he said because of and we talk about this all time because of YouTube and social media and all all those Outlets it's never been more important for a coach to be genuine kids can look look look anything Sark or any other coach says to a recruiter a parent they can go to YouTube and find his past comments from a week ago two weeks ago two years ago you can go find anything you want on what these coaches have said never has it been more important to be genuine than it is in recruiting nowadays but here's here I wanted to ask rod and Tony about this and from a recruiting spe perspective it's pretty obvious you went at Alabama in week two Sark mentioned this by the way one thing Sark said that was funny on it in his questions with Craig ways he wants to see the tape on the cam Williams holding call he ain't buying it um but it's it's the uh yeah exactly and and the the thing about it is is when you go win at Alabama and you win at Michigan and people can say what they want oh Michigan's not that good this year that's what people will say now it doesn't matter they won the national championship last year they had 13 freaking guys drafted that they had too many guys in the first round Harbaugh couldn't even find his guys in the Grom he didn't have time to move around there were so many first-rounders guys on that team last year but look Dave wanted Al Alabama in Michigan on the road in the only in the biggest game in college football two years in a row week two what that does for recruiting I mean I can't even sit here and quantify it I mean now you have to go follow through like they did last year and go get in the playoffs and have that type of season but man when you start winning games like that in back-to-back years and you have guys drafted and they've moved to the SEC I mean and your recruiting geography's opened up and you're blue blood in the portal people ask where's Texas class now they're five or six now I mean you're down to decimal points it doesn't matter Texas is going to finish with the top five class but what you can't rod these two wins on the road I'm not sure we can talk about how big that is for recruiting think back when y'all were recruits if if Texas had won Alabama and Michigan back-to-back years what would you and the boys be talking about I mean that's big stuff in recruiting yeah no I agree yeah no I we didn't play big games in non conference like this when I when I was playing we mon not not a big game Rod Stanford might have been a big one and yeah that's his big NC States as big guy so we never played these kinds of big games I think honestly they they probably tried to avoid these kind of big games early on without before I'm at the beginning of mat I me the the infancy of Max rain now when Max started getting this thing rolling I think they were like hey let's schedule them big boys let's get some big boys get house that thing let's get some big before then they were like hey let's make sure we get the right coach first uh but getting back to having the right coach there's no doubt Sark is the right coach I mean that's uh the the genuine authenticity I think is is something that does make a huge difference uh I've you know talked to some a lot of the players about the culture and they talk about the you know the culture days that they have where you know they get together in this culture of they call it a culture of vulnerability is what I believe Joe clatt called it where to T Point Sark is very open about his struggles and very open about um being able to you know overcome his demons and being able to you know find ways to uh persevere through trial and tribulation he's very open with those guys about his struggles and he encourages them to also be very open about their struggles whether it be away from football football you know the classroom wherever they are and their belief is that this this actually strengthens the ties the connectivity uh the connective tissue of the that that binds the team and that when your players when and T knows this when we walk in there every day we're around each other all the time in the dorms in the wait room in the dining hall when your brothers are going through something you're more likely to know what it is and not more likely to be able to tap into what you need to motivate them and how you need to comfort them or support them and the belief is that that all these players now they know what makes each other tick because they've been so vulnerable and open and that is part of what makes this team closer and that's part of sar's vision that's unique to him because of what he's going through so as a coach he's kind of rebuilding the culture in His image something that he's and and also you know something I love SAR as a football theorist SAR want me over as a football theorist more than anything because of how Progressive he is as a football guy U you know the most popular offense in the NFL is what the mix Shanahan offense right everybody wants to run that offense SAR runs his own kind of version of it and took a lot of those conceptual signatures when he followed Shanahan in Atlanta brought that here and if you look at how Progressive and modern his offense is I mean there's not really a modern concept that he's not willing to to experiment with and use whether it be the pony package I've talked about now empty formation he's throwing out there a lot now he's experimenting with hybridism with hybrid athletes right even this lest recruiting class he's getting some of those hybrid actually he's believeing now like you know what I'm G start to get he he mentioned this and I I he mentioned it with Ryan niblet the day said I want to get some athletes that will help me go from 21 Personnel to 11 personnel like within the same play just shifting a guy in the backfield dbo Samuel style he's always thinking ahead of the game he's calling NFL coaches to to be a student of the game that's what I love about him I've watched his growth and he's actually you know solved problems I say coaches are problem solvers what was the first issue with sark's teams they couldn't close like it couldn't close and they weren't clutch so what did SAR do said I constructed all my practices so that the hardest part of the practice was at the end I wanted a fourth quarter at every practice and I wanted to see what guys would step up and how my team responded to that after a long hard day of class and then practice and at the end we gonna make it tougher so you become a fourth quarter team so you realize you must build up to that intensity that you can't Peak too early and the team now is a fourth quarter team and we watch SAR teams they weren a fourth quarter team they they weren't even a fourth quarter team long a fourth quarter team this team plays four quarters fourth quarter and they got the clutch genan they showed that last year clutch genan and what did Bobby Bowen say first year you lose big second year you lose close third year you win close fourth year you win big baby this is the win big year last year was your win close year your lose close year was the year before that and this exactly how it followed I feel like this is a win big GE for for for Texas you ain't gonna win them all like that I think a lot of them will be like that yeah t was on some of them teams you know what I mean good stuff Rod good stuff Tony uh we got couple of the things announcements to make here real quick first of all thank you Armen Armando Delgado for that thank you also here to Mike gnell the difference and Rod this speaks a little bit to what you were talking about earlier as well as Tony even earlier the difference between Texas five years ago and now look at how the o line responded when Mich Michigan took liberties with Quinn that's culture that's what Sark has built that is part of the process uh this is from uh mobile uh Insley should I feel bad for wanting to put arch in for a two-minute drill after their TD I kind of thought s might might hand that off but I I will say this maybe a little moment for Quinn huers um Sark feeling like his quarterback may I mean frankly Quinn Hues is now in the Heisman race y firmly say what you want yes he's gonna be he's gonna be a highly ranked team through week five I agree with that they just set themselves up really really well as long as they keep playing hard I think Sark wanted him KN a handing the ball off to finish the game that otherwise I would agree with that because I did want to see Arch get some real time but he wasn't gonna get any real time he wasn't gonna throw it with less than two minutes left it was just gonna be hand off left and hand off right yeah so I get it I I I totally get that uh makuba this one from Alex Ortega uh Rod I want to ask you about this one makuba might be the best addition out of the portal looks like it so far he played a lot today if he keeps up he might be all SEC by the end of season Miss mentioned that on the broadcast I mean Texas has some you talking about R the difference between ball Hawks and just pbus there Texas might have a little bit of both right now yeah I I think they got a really nice mix of both and yeah it's either muba or I mean Matthew golden now that Porto is putting in some work too I mean he's got three touchdowns already now he seems to be the he seems to be if you're looking at this the receiver that has the most chemistry his natural chemistry with Quinn seems to be the guy that's kind of kind of a natural organic chemistry but yeah mba's been he's great I mean he's another guy that's got versatility he can play corner he can play nickel he can play safety they love how versatile that secondary is right now man and I haven't seen it this versatile oh man probably since coach a Keenan was on on campus Because coach ke was big on the 52 DB I remember you like he was big on he want he wants versatile DBS and sark's been echoing that very same sentiment lately all see long go ahead I was just gon say quick Point what you're starting to see is you're starting to see that all you're starting to see that saving effect on sarc you're starting to see those long rangy explosive power uh corners and safeties guys that can go up and get after it in the pass game and guys that are not as scared to put their head in in it uh in the fire in the Run game so much so that they they tried to find a targeting call uh that that was n you know what I mean non voice so like we we're seeing that type of Recruitment and Stark's doing a great job of identifying that because that's the game today hey they they went primarily today with Michael Taff and Andrew makuba Derrick Williams though did have a pick that in the second half good pick good reaction there a couple more s super chats John raford in cam We Trust uh look I think we talked about this early cam Williams guys uh had four penalties alone in the first half three false starts one Phantom holding call that look Texas won by 19 and they took seven points off the damn board so yeah think about that a little bit Texas beats this one kind of concerns me Bobby is taller than I thought in person on now give me a break hey this one from Kyle Vasa how do you think the agies feeli right now hook them all day every day I don't know if this is the case but I think Notre Dame was losing to nort Northern Illinois in the second quarter when I looked last just saying they scored more more points I think already than A&M through just two quarters uh also this one michaeel HOSA do not uh oh wow 13 to7 Notre Dame right now or 13-7 Northern Illinois over Notre crazy that's wild Dave Dave Randa also is in on uh he may be on uh oh is it bad oh the hot seat's not a good enough term for that one oh I see it oh I just saw that yeah 17 to nothing right now youor and from what I've been told I just got a text the game's not as close as the score would I'll put it that way how much do we beat Georgia by Michael I'm not even gonna give these guys the chance to create I'm not Jin no no no I'm not giving material y don't get any right now another one Jake Jesse Forest 05 Alum here for the first time in almost 20 years I can say we have a real program the talent coaching and culture are all there that's what you see rod and Tony when a team goes into a another defending national champions house defending national champions house walks away with a 19point win that frankly was in Hand by Midway through the third quarter I mean Texas beat the you know what out of Michigan today listen Bobby here's what we're not thinking about you take away you take away what we call a phantom call at the end of the day the guy's hands was inside so I mean whatever right but just you take that you add that on and then let's add on the 45 y That's wide right and we beat the national the defending national champions by 30 points like so when I tell you that we're still scratching the surface and having these type of wins that's that's what I'm speaking speaking to right just from the Mis cues R if you think about that a 30 point like what would that have looked like to walk into the defending national champions house on on on National Television big game 115,000 and walk out a 30-point Victor like Texas is on the way they just have to again continue to to stay focused locked in one game one week at a time which is what the guys always talk about not taking these teams for granted and then going out there and just doing what you know to do at this particular Point I've said it before I say it again um Texas Beats Texas y I like that that's a great honestly that's a great way to kind of summarize it that's I feel like that's the only way Texas can lose to what I've seen so far I agree to Texas beats Texas and the standard is the standard right right now that's what I love about this team whether it be last week versus Colorado State obviously an inferior opponent but guys are playing to the standard even the guys that are that are backups the guys who are coming in there who are getting some of those secondary reps and rotating in there's not a huge drop off there's not a huge lapse in play and a lapse in execution um a lapse in focus with those guys and those guys just earning more Trust of the coaches so they can play more now Jarry Gibson's gonna be J Gibson playing in big games now that's a young guy that's gonna contribute now because he's earning the trust of the coaches and I think that and even versus Michigan Right Michigan yeah they may be down but still Texas played to a standard today um correct against University of Michigan and I think now that's back where they are now it's not it's not about the opponent it's got nothing to do with them all right we want to play to a certain Championship standard week in and week out and we're going to push it every week because we believe we can get better every week and if they keep doing that I I I got this team I had a made 11 and one to start the season and right now I feel more than confident in in that prediction and I thought that was lofty anytime you talking about that that's lofty right but man his team looks really good right now the secondar is exceeding my expectations I thought they'd be improved but they look really good um and I I think the old line right now I like the way the old old line exceeding my as a pass as a pass protection unit I didn't think they'd be this good especially when challenged with a Michigan defensive front that's got NFL guys all the way all through it when you look at the defense go for it Tony go for it buddy say when you look at the defense the one thing that I knew would be true is that when we leave when we when we lose those lions in the middle to to the NFL draft and we look at what's behind them we understand that we're going to give up some size right but what I thought is that we would have more shiftiness when it came to stopping the Run game and you started to see that a player that I think that Texas should be looking out for when it comes to uh the that run stopping Stout ability that you're that you're used to seeing I'm not saying that he's this guy I'm just saying as it pertains to holding the line of scrimmage uh is Germaine l i I really like the way when he got out on the field there was no movement on him as a matter of fact I seen him in one particular time holding the offensive linan up with one hand and peeking his head over looked at real it looked real Casey Hampton is right you're not moving this you're not moving this 63 320 pound guy you know and so I I would love to see him get some more burn and obvious rundown positions just to see if what I saw today is actually what I'm seeing I do have glasses on too fellas so I'll make that c nice hey guys I I tell you what a lot of lot of stuff in the chat mobile Ensley uh out of St Augustine currently will I be able to find yall at uh OU in Georgia absolutely at OU we're going to be at the flight one that's right next to the stadium come see us then uh he also says I'm Class of 84 you my friend are a spring chicken yeah but I'm still six foot tall I just wanna put that out there Rod here here's one for you that that's a good one I think from Brandon bar are we gonna see NY black anytime soon I want to mention this he did not play much in the spring because because get getting over a wrist injury that he actually had surgery in the offseason also are we ever going to see Silas Balden yeah he ran a post route today but look Silas Balton has not got a lot of play now maybe that's because Matthew golden and uh and qu Quin years have a rapport yeah Isaiah Bond when he's been called upon he's been Aces this year uh what what do you think are we going to see NYL anytime soon I mean Gunner h it's not like you know you're not going to improve on gunar Helm much based on what he did today yeah I like and I think gunar Helm he answered my questions about being able to beat man coverage I've seen him do it multiple times already this year so I love what he did and they like Juan Davis they told you guys they were gonna throw one Davis out there a lot he's playing he's playing a ton I mean he is their second tight end it ain't night black I just think night black is so specialized and they believe even the one Davis has a better chance of of keeping the unpredictability of the offense because when Juan's in there he can be obviously a Blocker in a run game and go out for a route Gunner ham he's their best allaround tight end when nbl's out there he's such um a liability in the as a blocker pass blocker or a run blocker I think it makes you a little bit predictable or it puts you at a deficit um in terms of the numbers game at the line so I think they're just having a hard time right now trying to come up with a package for him because they don't need to like they they have tight ends who can be every down tight ends for him so I think either he's got to improve as a blocker uh because you ain't gonna put him out there to block for Quinn he's only gonna be out there to run a route you Ain blocking for Quinn and you're not going to be a plus Block in the Run game so they'll put them out there only run the route but then you get you let the defense know exactly what you're gonna do every time n Black's out there I know 85% of the time it's a pass because they run the route with him that and Sark wants to keep defenses off balance nightl doesn't allow you to do that right now can't be a onetick pony can't be a onetick pony yeah that that may be part of it too I I really think hey let's listen in on this Matt I hope our producer has the volume up because you know what this you know what they call this right here guys uhuh long party this is the good stuff right here [Music] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] best if that doesn't get you going Rod B and Tony I don't know what to tell y'all I love it it's a little fast for my taste I don't know if they sped it up slow it down a little bit you know but I'm an old man now so I like a little slow that's all right all good good give him some of that htown Texas fight Ro you know chopping and screw it we long he says hey one final question we we're gonna I want to say this real quick uh a couple things are coming up first of all Adam Lane I can't get to your super chat today or right now because Jerry's not here he asked about where does this put Texas in the recruiting rank after myON Charles flipped to Texas if you're just joining us my Charles def myON Charles defens lineman out of Port Charlotte Florida switched from uh from Florida State to Texas today after the game uh also I wanna I want to say this Jerry and CJ are gonna do a special live stream tonight around seven o'clock we think special live stream because guess what maybe a little earlier uh I think it's uh time to party a little bit and talk about some more Longhorn football uh but before we go Bobby and this is for burnt orange horn Bobby 10 and two now oh Rod we did our preseason preview you and I both I think came did we come in 10 and two I had I had 11 and one I thought oh you're gonna do that to me now are you I had did I have 10 and two did I you had 11 and one you had 11 and one rod was 11 and one but hey it's so listen Either Way season ain't over hey man we could all be wrong and I hope we all are because I think we go we could be continuing to go the other way which I don't even want to jinx it yet I don't even want to talk about that yet I I don't want to go there we talking about we don't want to talk about that yet but this team is that kind of special they got that potential I just thought that then that's rare that's very rare yeah you don't bite the cheese one week at a time one week at a time but from it's hard it's hard to it's hard not to have thought in the back of your mind when you see wins like this and you see the and here's here's most importantly it's the way that they're winning that way carries over from week to week to week and I think that that's where the excitement is for LongHorn nation confidence growing man it's growing hey guys I I look at it all um and I'm trying to sum up I'm up here in an arbor um and I was out there this morning with a lot of Texas fans we had we had over 500 people at the tailgate this morning just come by and stop by it was just awesome okay the atmosphere was great Michigan is a tremendous host by the way I want to say this Michigan fans are classy just just gonna put it out there and I everybody has their un know whats you know that can be whatever but I feel pretty Michigan's a good fan base right good school I thought the University of Texas did a classy thing today by the way in the Ann Arbor paper they bought University of Texas bought a full page ad and congratulated congratulated Michigan on their National Championship a year ago that is pretty bad full P full page ad said thank you for your hospitality congratulations it was it was just well done uh so seeing all those Longhorn fans out here I can tell you this much so I've been following Texas football since I was since Moby Dick was a minnow and this is the this is the reality okay there have been runs during my lifetime where you two were part of that guys Tony you and Rod both were part of the first one I think we're starting to enter into a potential second one now you you think about it y'all can we can talk about all we want but they go on the road and they beat Alabama a year ago Jerry made mention of this right they go on the road and beat Alabama a year ago they go on the road and beat Michigan this year okay they're about five to 10 five to eight football programs that stored historic use the use the term you want to use right it's Alabama it's Michigan it's Notre Dame it's Ohio State it's USC it's Texas it's Oklahoma those are the teams right and in backtack years you go in their house and do this double digit wins both times yeah all I I mean what are you gonna say I mean I don't know uh I don't I'm not saying they're there yet because to y'all's Point don't bite the cheese is what I think Tony said don't take don't jump into that trap because they got UTSA next weekend right don't FY that cheese you're right but man and and then I just I sit there and I look and Quinn has a game like he's had today where he steps up in the pocket better than he has since he's been at Texas I mean period yeah yeah did that uh led the team took care of the football uh I just I just look at this and I don't know if they'll finish 10- two I don't know if it be 11 and one I still don't know hey it could be nine and three it could be 12 and0 I'm not but I'm just telling y'all uh I've been around this thing about 30 years it feels that way to me because they're starting to do they're starting to stack guys there's AED byon Hills right there's a Jonathan Scott that's followed by Tony Hills that there's a rod babers that's followed by I don't know who who came in after you Rod but yeah Nathan yeah that is what is happening and they're winning these big non-conference games I mean I got a chance here uh and I think the fan base is responding to it go ahead Tony I'm sorry to interrupt you buddy no no you're fine I just what I wanted you to do because you're on the something man I don't want to steal your thunder give the fans because you said something that's that's very important you've been watching uh Texas do their thing longer than uh me and Rod has almost been alive so my thing is you've seen you've seen ball Bobby you've seen Texas ball give me an identifying Factor on why that feeling is coming back to you because I think a lot of us are not not the hype machine because of our affiliation but just looking at Texas the way that they're operating and saying we've seen this before what's the identifying factor for you d Duds and quarterbacks yeah that's a great one no you're right know I mean when you have Sims that's followed by Vince that's followed by Colt or a major you know with quarterback and dudes when I look out there and it's the fourth quarter fourth quarter not the first quarter and I see Colin Simmons flying off the ball like a bat out of hell that's a win that's when that's when Sergio Kendall came in my mindset that I see guys like Baron cell that maybe weren't highly recruited as highly recruited but they've they've developed and then the guys after them you know what they were highly recruited and they're learning the right way to do things I it's that feeling plus I mean Sark Greg Davis had to run of great quarterbacks right in my opinion you can say what some people love Greg D hay whatever he had a run of quarterbacks and I think SAR I mean look the quarterback room right now outside of Quinn Quinn's getting ready to be a first- round draft pick I think I don't know if he submitted that today but he damn sure didn't do anything negative he's G the first round yeah correct okay he did that because he was able to move up and check went off his first read a bunch in my opinion you look at that and then you look at Arch and I'm telling you Trey own's a guy too um we saw it in Spring I mean he stood in against the second team defense with the third team offense and slung it so you see all that and then you see a Colin simm you see an Anthony Hill it's not just any one position it's it's what y'all were it's a collection of guys that are NFL caliber and then you throw in a couple guys that are dudes and you throw in good quarterbacks and all a sudden you know you you go in and beat Michigan the defending national champion by 19 points at home and you know there's some games now that look I didn't know Texas would play this well today I really didn't I I was like n 20 to I I predicted 20 to 17 but their defense looked really good um and played smart Rod you illuminated this fact they took it away they're best what they could do and then Quinn and Sark schemed up that Michigan defensive front I mean we I went I was all worried all week and I didn't realize they weren't G to run till the sixth play of the game you the first through the first five passes and so all of that grown together guys uh just U I feel like they're they're on the cusp of something they got to keep going things have to keep going the right direction but hell I mean I and I'm I'm this is the most I've ever cussed on this broadcast by the way um you know using the dword but I my my point being Texas right now uh is just in that they're in that zone where you know get ready for it because I think they're gonna keep doing it I just I mean look y'all just good stuff all right rod Tony I appreciate y'all giving me a little Soliloquy time there awesome before we get going before we get going do you guys have anything uh that y'all want to say uh before we leave this postgame uh sponsored by flight and Yingling uh no just congratulations to the team I mean I'm I'm happy for them because uh they earned it these guys have been uh in the offseason they've been working and S talked about Obsession they've been obsessing in the offseason about you know getting back to where they were last season and then get obviously advancing past that to a championship and they're playing like it I wonder if that was just talk or if that was just a you know a motto they were throwing out there or they were going to play like it and they're playing like it right now early on so seems like the BBS Are Back In The Box and we know what Derek K Royal said about Texas and the BBS being back in the box it could be a force and it seems like right now that's where we are toon you any final thoughts for you buddy oh man listen um these guys have gone through the fire you know the guys that have been there when the program was you know ascending and and being in that that that that dark space and so what you're starting to see is the fruits of that labor man when anytime you take the hard route you learn from it and and I think that what we're starting to see now and Bobby to your point and I asked that question because I'm feeling it too the way that they're playing the game they're playing the game the right way the way that they're coaching the game they're coaching the game the right way and so when you continue to do the right things at the right time the right things are going to happen and I'm looking forward to seeing what next week looks like and not even just next week when we get to Saturday but I'm talking about the preparation aspect how does that look how are these guys talking last week we talked about them jumping in the cold tub right after the game right just but it just goes to show you the mentality that these guys have so congratulations on the win enjoy it but understand you got a you got miles to go before you sleep and miles to go before you sleep so take it one game at a time don't bite the cheese and let's go for the same the same uh result next week hey I gotta say this I want to play this again Matt if you don't mind let's let's leave folks uh with the uh Texas fight from the University of Texas players as we go out here on the postgame show Steve sarkeesian lead us buddy let's go [Music] [Applause] two t t t t [Applause] I love it guys Tony thank you for standing in for Brian Robinson we're gonna ask you to come back for sure later Rod thank you so much for our producer behind the scenes Matt Hutchinson Jerry Hamilton will'll be back later this afternoon early evening for another round uh guys y'all have a good one uh tremendous tremendous day for the Texas Longhorns Longhorns win it 3112 pick up a commitment also from myON Charles Divas lman out of Port Charlotte Fort uh four Tony Hills rod babers and Matt Hudson I'm Bobby Burton hook him hook them
