Elijah Arroyo, Wesley Bissainthe and Mishael Powell on Facing the Florida Gators

Elijah Arroyo a lot of teams you know lot of times there you know are little mistakes that pop up in week one that are corrected as the season goes on uh playing Florida there's obviously not a lot of room for error so just what have you guys been working on to make sure those little mistakes don't don't happen in week one uh just you know making sure we're playing fast getting out the Huddle quick uh we've been practicing with the speakers so I think that's goingon to help us uh yeah long as we execute minimize mistakes I think we'll be all right our next question comes from Matt chardella cane sport Matt yeah hey Elijah um so I wanted to get your thoughts you know everyone talks about cam Ward Damen Martinez the wide receivers it seems like some people are maybe overlooking your group uh what do you think that the tight ends can prove and and how much can you help this offense as a group this season do you think no I'm not worried about proving anything honestly I just want to do what I can to uh help our team win games next we'll go to Jordan mcferson of the Miami heral Jordan hey Elijah speaking of that with wanting to go out there and do what you can just for you personally the way the last couple years have gone just with game day finally right around the corner just how ready are you to finally get back on the field and just get going uh I'm excited uh been waiting a long time for this it's been a long offseason grind uh I feel like we came together uh as a team we matured a lot and we work really hard together over this off season so I think the whole team's excited about this our next question comes from isie Charles A kport isie elij where do you think you've kind of improved your game over the last kind of year and a half or so you know obviously dealt with some injuries but now back at full health where do you think you've grown the most on the field um but when I got hurt I was able to take a step back and kind of you know learn defenses and also just get a better perspective on our offense so I would say that also just route running I feel as fast about as I've ever felt and yeah just excited we'll do a few more for Elijah next we'll go to Daryl streer of footballville Daryl Elijah how you doing bro um from year one to year two with Coach Dawson have you seen a difference in his coaching style or just a difference in him at now it's year two uh yeah I think we're going to see a lot of things uh you know going into year two he's kind of more comfortable with us and he's been able to uh you know open up the offense uh and expand for us and you know I'm excited next we'll go to Adam lonstein of the Sun Sentinel Adam hey again um just what have you you know told the Freshman uh you know Elijah Lofton you know JoJo Trader nikar soone and so forth about what it's like playing in these these big time Road environments I mean it's fun I told them all to I was talking to Elijah Lofton uh a couple days ago I told him you know pregame you know that's when you take everything in take in the moment look around in the stands you know to see the environment and you know once we come out that tunnel it's game time uh I told him you know you're going to be prepared and just come out execute do what you're supposed to do um so Wesley I want to Wesley Bissainthe get your your just thoughts on the Florida offense and the challenge that they POs to you guys um no they got you know they got a big old line you know they got an experience quarterback um you know we just excited for the opportunity man uh we've been working real hard so we excited to come on and show the world our next question comes from isie Charles the Kane sport isie going on West just wanted to ask you I know you've played in a few rivalry games but this is going to be your first time playing against the Florida just what's your thoughts and mindset you know playing them and how excited are you and the guys in the locker room um we're very excited man uh you know guys is Happy um you know we can't wait uh it's been a long time coming my first time playing the Florida Gators man and uh we know it's going to be a game and just we got to come out ready to play you know both sides gonna come out ready to play it's gonna be a great game next we go to Adam Lon CA the Sun Sentinel Adam hey Wes how's it going how's it going Adam pretty good um you know a lot of times teams you know no matter how much they practice you know it it there are some bumps in the road on week one some things need to be worked out how have you guys worked on I mean kind of not doing that making sure everything is kind of run cleanly even though it's going to be loud it's a road game in week one um no just having the speakers at practice um you know that plays a big role and um you know just watching film man you know correcting little things every little detail matter man um and you get the little details right everything else fall in place so you just got to go by that and everything take care take care of itself and and being you know a South Florida guy I'm sure you know you knew UF fans growing up Miami fans obviously so just what does this rivalry you think mean to uh to like people in in Florida um I definitely I definitely mean uh think it means a lot to people in Florida um just just Florida having you know all these different colleges and uh different fans I definitely think it means something and um I know they're going to be excited just as us um to watch us play what's going on M uh just Mishael Powell headed into your first game as a Miami Hurricane you know how are you feeling and especially a rivalry game against the Florida Gator as well feeling really good you know we're just excited for this opportunity excited for this challenge you know we know you know Florida's a really good team with some really great players so you know we're just excited you know to go out there you know you know put what's on tape that we've been developing you know since January our next question comes from Cass Clayton Cass hey M T2 I as a quarterback for the defense can you describe to us what is the hype like what is the energy like and what are your emotions going into game one I would say you know of course you know I'm excited you know I know as a defense we're excited as well but you know we have a very you know even kill mindset right now you know we still got you know 48 to 72 hours to PR prepare and get ready so you know we prepare all the way up until kickoff so we're not you know getting too farhead and future thinking and worried about the game right now you know we GNA watch the the the tape today that we watching in practice correct it look at some more um film and more cut-ups that they have for us and you know just keep learning and developing as you know we're getting ready for this week so you know it's for sure excitement but you know locked in I also want to know what will be the preparation like what are some of the challenges you guys think that you will have against the offense and what preparation have you been taken to face those challenges I would just say you know they're whole offense you they have a really big o line you know they got a really good running back uh they have a quarterback who's coming to his second year in this program so we know he's going to be a lot more confident they probably got a different few more different route concepts for him you know he can throw it anywhere on the field uh they have a really explosive player in number three and they also have some you know other guys on the outs I got a few transfers that came in and you know overall they're a really good offense you know they're explosive you know they want to run the ball but you know they can throw it as well too so I think you know we're just you know preparing for the whole thing you know they don't really have a lot of weak spots really weak spots at all they're strong on all three levels and you know we're we're ready to go against them next we got to Adam Lon in the Sun Sentinel Adam hey M how's it going good how are you good good you kind of touched on it a second ago but just um Graham merch is a quarterback for Florida just what does he do uh you know that makes him uh a talented passer what does he do to make things difficult for the defense I would say he's confident you know he's one of those quarterbacks that you know he stays at the pocket even gets a hit and still get a throw off you know we've seen some throws where he's getting hit in his rib but he's still getting the throw off so that just one shows the confidence that he has in his players and you know that he can still get the ball off you know one he's he's mobile as well I think people don't really know as well but he can run he can run as well you know he's a winner and you know he's overall competitor he can make any throw he's good at you know moving safeties off the line off their hash off their marks and you know he has a really good connection with the receivers as well especially with number three um they have a really good connection I know they've developed that more so we just got to go out there you know do our job and you know play our game plan and then it's going to be you know it's a 3:30 kickoff it's going to be boiling hot you've been practicing in in Florida heat for you know most of this year but not many games this hot uh up in up at Washington so just um what are you expecting from from that do you how have you acclimated to the heat over the last you know eight or nine months oh we're ready for it we're ready for it you know there's no heat like the heat on green tree that's a different type of hot and you know we've practiced at night we practiced you know around that time we practice in the morning and you know how it is on Green Tree it's hot you know from morning sun up to sun down it's always hot so you know we're definitely gonna be ready for the Heat next we'll go to Jordan mcferson of the Miami Harold Jordan yeah hey there meech uh after spring camp or spring practices fall Camp all the hype all the excitement all the outside expectations how ex are you guys just to finally get on the field and get it started I think we're really excited you know we I've been going against you know Xavier and cam Ward and I know the o line dline been going against each other so we just been you know going at and just competing so we're getting to a point now you know we're ready to you know you know put that on another team be able to compete against you know someone else that's not wearing the Miami Hurricanes color so you know are excited but you know like I said before we're very DED in even kill and locked in and then just how do you feel the secondaries come together throughout fall I think really well you know I think the guys that are out there that have been out there we've been able to jail we've been able to know game plan and find ways to how we want to play against them as well as just overall being able just to communicate I think the biggest thing in the back end is communication with everybody and being able to make sure that we're on the same page and that's something that we've done a really good job of you know not just in Fall cam you know just up you know these past two weeks preparing for them we'll do a few more for meech next we'll go to Matt shardell cane sport Matt yeah hey Mech I was hoping you could talk a little bit about one of the new guys OJ frederique and um has he maybe impressed you just given that he sort of just got here from high school and what he's been able to show on the practice field I would say for sure you know I'm not surprised you know I think coach Jackson coach gri you know coach chis ball they do a great job recruiting kids that you know are be are able to play you know we've had some freshman you know last year you know uh Ruben Bane Demar Brown so you know I'm not really shocked at his age um that he's playing you know they' had guys that played this early I think the most thing that you know I'm very impressed with you know his preparation how he's been preparing this week how he's been preparing over fall camp and his confidence you know being that young being 18 19 years old and being that confident and understanding route Concepts and just overall trusting himself is something that it takes a while for to develop that type of confidence so for him to have that such a young age you know it's only gonna you know do wonders for him down the line next we'll go to Daryl Streeter of footballville Daryl how you doing you're um you're an experienced guy stepping in at a position that has been held down by two local Ballers that are now in the NFL cam kitchens and James Williams have you had a chance to make a relationship or speak to any of these guys uh yeah I've talked to cam kitchens you know I worked out with him a couple times you know whenever I have any questions or anything like that you know I'll either go to Jay Harris or you know go to cam you ask him just kind of pick his brain on how he plays safety you know how he SE the game um in this defense and you know overall he's helped me a lot you know he's given me a lot of you know quick tips and advice on you know how to play the ball what he's reading off the quarterback reads and just over routes in general so no for sure he's definitely help me a lot we'll wrap up uh for Mech with Marcus Benjamin at kanes County Marcus hey mesch you've played in some rivalry games obviously and um in rivalry games sometimes it gets a little bit too emotional or sometimes your emotions kind of get the best of you uh what ways are you guys kind of really preparing to just kind of stay composed in a game that can be you know very emotional as as it goes on I would just say you know first off is accepting you know and understanding you know the type of game that we're going into but you know not letting it control it you know we're we're in a big game for a reason uh this is GNA be a really good matchup and I just think us overall just doing our job I think that's the main focus is you know getting the call reading the Downs looking at Splits and just overall just doing your job you know day in and day out play in and play out and we're able to focus on that not focus on the outcomes not focus on winning or losing just focus on competing every single rep you know we're going to do you know a hell of a job
