welcome to Tallahassee Florida home of the war chat Chief aola Renegade and the Florida state seminal a place simply known as the dope we have a ranked versus unranked battle coming up here and you know how chaos can ensue if they start smelling an upset as we'll see a squad from the ACC the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets taking on the seventh ranked team in the land the Florida state seminal for EA Sports college football I'm ree Davis David poock and Jesse Palmer with me guys it's time to get it going the yellow jackets will kick it away first here he comes from inside his own five didn't find any crease in that kickoff coverage and he'll be stopped at the 17 the 7even olds offense takes the field to start this game off and this wide receiver he's the Lynch pin to the offense they want to make sure they find a multitude of ways to get him the football and it's a risk reward scenario on defense when you're trying to cover this guy re because you play a man coverage you risk him running by you and catching deep balls you play too much Zone and then he can hurt you after the catch a lot of different ways this guy is very dangerous didn't get much done on that first play of the drive it's second and 11 wants to throw it's a wangal makes his connection and he won't quite get there but boy after that pickup just a few inches to go for the first an array of possibilities here just need a few inches on this opening drive to pick up a first down using the quick game smashes through and they'll move the chains and get it to the 47 yd line well we know this guy is special and because of that his quarterback is looking to him on critical down and distances there on that third down there was no question it wouldn't have mattered if he was single covered double covered man Zone that's where he was going with it and the Big Time playmaker outside picks up the first and the semal come to the line with a fresh set of downs they keep attacking through the air gets it out fast he's brought down solid pickup but a little bit short of the first down early in the game as a DB I'm settling in it's okay if I give up four six seven yards I'm just trying to get settled in gauge the speed and then later on I can adjust to the speed of the game and here comes the offense on second down they'll Run play action fires to the wide out soft spot in the middle knocked down at the 29 yd line picked up 15 yards on the play and he's got a first down the seminol are flying down the field they'll throw it on first down got his man downfield and he cruises his way to the house touchdown 7s you want to talk about a great way to start the game and set the tone early it's so nice to have a quarterback just get himself into the game and get himself established you make a couple throws you lead your offense down the field you score right off the bat could not have been a better start for that QB lining up to tack one more onto that lead and with the extra point they get the first seven of the game so that scoring Drive took only six plays and they covered the final 29 yards with that touchdown pass the kickoff team out there getting set on the run from inside his own five nice job by the kickoff team everybody stayed in their lanes and they'll stop him at the 16 so the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets offense taking the field first chance we have to see them today these two dudes who both come off the edge can wreck an offense's day Jesse man these quarterbacks better have an internal clock working today if you hold on to the football you are getting sacked yeah best athletes on the field are defensive lineman and when you got guys like this that can get after the quarterback points will be at a premium sometimes your tight end's a safety valve and sometimes he's your go-to receiver and the offense knew right away it was the primary target it was where he was going with the football cuz you know you get a little bit of suck up from those linebackers with the play action and you feed the big fella pulls it and fires to the left good job reading the defense by the quarterback on that RPO Fe he waited to see how the defense was going to play the Run he saw Defenders bite up close to the line of scrimmage and right away he knew he had the slant throw right in behind it this crowd full throat splitting the eard drums and letting him know it's going to be a long day that's what you expect from a senior don't give them any extra yards great tackle there yeah and the running back didn't get much here but you know you clearly want to always establish the tempo run the football be consistent make that defense physically meet the challenge Here Comes This Home crowd as the defense tries to get off the field on third down they'll try to pick it up on the ground turns it on at Midfield he's got enough to move the chains and they'll spot it at the 47 and that's all you want right you want that first down understand the situation understand I got to get North and South get a first down get a new set of downs they'll snap it from the 47 on first down they'll run it out of the shotgun smashes through and he Jukes the first guy made him Miss and picked up a few before being brought down this running back just doesn't go down easily it's just difficult for defenses to get him on the ground not overly huge but if I'm an offensive coordinator I'm going to continue to find ways to feature him and just you know what let his talent do the rest nyd pickup on first down and now they can take a shot on second and short and the yellow jackets are stopped but not before getting it past the sticks I think it's really important for this offense they get this guy going early in the game and they're doing a nice job of that right now remember he's the kind of running back who gets better as the game goes on that's a really good omen for this offense considering his success now early the RPO fire complete to the left and good coverage by the defense just a short gain now and a great job by the defense seeing it right away reacting to the screen going and getting the football and getting the fast playmaker on the ground kept it on the ground on first down see if they stick with that plan on second they'll try the Run trying to pound their way forward he picks up a couple to the 31 man that D tackle is a freak athlete did you see him come out of his stance and beat the offensive lineman getting to the running back catlike quickness eighth play of the drive coming it'll be a third and six dropping back it's King fires left it's caught he was working his way toward that goal line they'll stop him at the two after the big play up top [Applause] that's the end of the quarter and Florida state has the lead one period in the books and let's take a look at the stats lots of time left and we're ready to get back to it and open the second period fans are bringing the noise on first first and goal slams it ahead and he takes it in for the score touchdown Yellow Jackets an impressive long methodical meticulous Drive ends in points they just matriculated the ball down the field didn't they re so impressive didn't see a lot of explosive plays but how about the execution running and throwing the football wow now they'll line up for what they hope is [Applause] automatic right down the middle so a drive there of 84 yards and finish to deal with the short touchdown run from the two and we're all square as he's set to kick it away he'll start the return inside his five he was looking for some Running Room but not much to be found as he stopped at the 18 guys here comes that Florida State offense back onto the field that keeps the running game churning pick up of five to the 23 hey five to six yards a pop I don't know if you guys are really good at math but that usually equals a first down every couple carries so don't forget about the Run game keep them mind want to Pound That Rock halfway there on first down it's second and five they'll run it from the gun picks up the first down he is tackled but it'll be a fresh set of downs it's just not easy to bring this guy down is it he is so dangerous once he gets the ball in his hands and it makes me think back to Old great seminal running backs like War Dunn Travis Miner a guy that I used to play against uh how about Dalvin cook even just guys that could make the first guy Miss and then they were able to just explode and burst and take at the distance this guy right here he is a unique talent he stopped after getting a yard out to the 30 I like feeding my guy I like getting my running back touches feeding the ball so he can break some of those big runs but I'm also okay with these little ones set the tone stay balanced didn't get much on first down it's second and nine from the done the ground game he tried to find some Running Room but they get him stopped that DB had a different story he had something to say coming up making a physical tackle it'll take some work to get to the sticks it's third and long from the 30 to throw it's aangal he's got his man and he's not going to get there here the defense Stands Tall and makes the stop one of the things I love about this defense is they just have such great awareness and they're always communicating they understood the down and distance they knew exactly what they needed to do to make the tackle to force the punt that is so well done the seminal will punt it away on fourth down getting our first look of the afternoon at the punter he'll get it out to about the 20 yd line and that's where they'll Mark him down the rambling wreck offense rolls back onto the field how big is this drive scored a touchdown the last time they had it defense gets a stop fires into traffic it's picked off and he's wrapped up after a solid return on the pick who says defensive backs don't have hands nice job breaking on the football and making the catch a lot of times you see guys SWAT it down or you see them trying to catch it it looks like they have two left hands defensive backs don't catch real well nice job breaking on the football nice job securing the int and actually catching it couldn't ask for better field position for this offense wants to throw on first down they'll run the screen and they pick up just a few on that completion yeah and you're going to see this offense find different ways to get this running back in involved it's not just going to be on handoffs and they're certainly going to line him up in different places and even throw him the football but the screen game is a big part of it too they're trying to get him going there that last completion sets him up on second down wide out in motion try to get the edge with a quick touch pass really nice stop there from this senior leader and these little touch passes man they're just the easiest completions ever for quarterbacks Palmer I bet you would have loved being able to just Flip It Forward that counts as to your completion percentage which is good and then it's all run after the catch so pretty easy for a QB you wouldn't have been the only All American in this booth David if I were allowed to P have Push passes when I was playing quarterback I'll tell you that it is so hard to defend it's so hard to seal that edge especially when this guy's Full Speed Ahead coming around the outside and they'll finally get him down after a terrific pickup what a nice job finding the back on the angle route that's a tough thing to cover and I love the matchup for this quarterback he knew they're on third down he had the one-on-one with his running back and that Defender nice job on the route crossing the defender face easy completion the drive stays alive a seveny pickup it'll be second and three keep pounding away at this defense and make them play the run if you can get this many a chunk they're going to have to commit more guys to the Box more guys to the run then you open it up for the passing game we'll take a quick break as we have reach the final two minutes of the first half going to work in the Red Zone they can pick up the first down without getting it into the end zone back to pass it's ungal throw into the end zone it's picked [Applause] off and they capitalize not only on the pick but the great return to give the offense tremendous field position most defenses are lucky if you have one good cover in corner fewer are lucky if you have two they've got three DBS three corners that can play at the same time in their nickel package that they feel can go mono imano with anyone in the country and you saw it on that last play coming away with the pick the Georgia Tech offense rolls back onto the field well let's see if this drive goes better than the last one they were in and out quickly after the quick pick David yeah first play big mistake man now let's get this offense in a little bit of a rhythm maybe before you open it up again Palmer or do you trust him right away uh he seems to me like the guy maybe that just needs to kind of get into the flow of the game so maybe you get the running game going here and just give him some easy looks to let him get lathered up after that last incompletion here's second and 10 from their own 20 he's looking to throw this time he's got him and he might be known for run fits but that was a sure and heavy tackle on the tight end a nice job by the defense there tackling the catch and smothering the tight end they know this offense is going to try to find him in the passing game in a lot of different situations that time perfect coverage and nice job bringing the big guy down not easy to do on Third and short they'll try to pick it up with the pass a little screen to the running back they make the stop but not before the screen has hit him for a first down and much more more really good execution by this offense the yellow jackets come to the line with a new set of downs they'll throw it to the back on the screen not a whole lot of room there on that screen pass as it just never developed on those screen plays you really want to sell it get it to your running back and get him to the second level get him running full head of steam on a safety on a linebacker he almost got going but just got tackled before he could really do any [Applause] damage to the air it's King going to take a shot makes a catch at the 20 and he'll run it into the end zone touchdown George attack and I just love the execution by this offense late in the half man you want to take the lead you want to get that momentum on your side and they do it they finish it with the passing game and I tell you what heat that passing game up you can keep this lead keep the momentum and keep putting up [Applause] numbers he'll try to tack on one more and the extra point is true and they're on top by seven a very efficient five playay scoring drive and they cover the final 54 yards with the explosive play in the passing game for six so they got the touchdown now going to put it in the hands of their defense to finish off this half and he takes this from inside the five didn't find any crease in that kickoff coverage and he'll be stopped at the 17 the simol have it back they'll try to get that offensive spear flaming he's looking to throw it catch in the middle it's Douglas and oh he was Off to the Races after the catch and they finally drag him down a timeout is called as this offense tries to find a way to get more points on the board before the half going up top on first down got the Quick Pass and he goes out of bounds after a nice pick up on that one well you can tell those two have been practicing the out route all off season long they look like they could have completed that in their sleep running out of time here in the first half they're going to have to be efficient to put some points on the board before the break looking downfield it's IAL fires to the right right on the money to the outside he drag the toe and how about the ball placement only the receiver could get it I'll tell you what that's great execution between the QB and receiver they look like they could execute that throw in their sleep quarterback took his steps threw it on time great route by the receiver nice job securing the catch it's first and 10 for this offense from the 42 he wants to throw that's caught it's Douglas they'll use a timeout right before halftime maybe time for one or two more plays and here on second down they'll send out the field goal unit to try to get three before the break and he's got got it counted all the way to 55 never in doubt I know they're trailing going into the locker room here at halftime but kicking that field goal gives them a little bit of a jolt a little bit of a boost of momentum that they can carry with them into the second half and there's a lot of football left to go here I can't wait to see what happens so they get the late field goal right before the half and not much time after this kickoff for an answer looking for an alley from inside his own 10 he'll be brought down and that's the final play of the half that's the end of the second quarter that means it's time to join Kevin in our halftime update all right guys looks like we've got a great one in Tallahassee going on and it's been said football is a game of inches and guess what based on the comparison between third down conversion rate today and the average yard per play how can you argue that I mean the low-lying fruit is to look at some of the explosive plays we've seen and panic but really this game is going to come down to which team is more efficient when they have the ball and how they play when it matters most and with that let's send it back to our guys at Bobby Bowen field and the nolles will line up to kickoff and start the second half on the move from inside is five he was looking for some Running Room but not much to be found as he stopped at the 18 Georgia Tech has the ball back and here comes the Yellow Jacket offense caught behind the line it's Lan and the defense coming with bad intentions they knock him down for a loss they're trying to throw the screen out to the receiver the defense though having none of that they are just too physical they're too fast they force a negative play what can they pull out of the Playbook here on second and long from the 17 looking to throw it's King fires to the big fell and that corner came in hot despite knowing that he was giving up some size nice route there by the tight end making it real easy for his quarterback to find an easy [Applause] completion debbs Rising as the crowd Gets behind this defense on third down from the gun wants to pass it's caught downfield running toward the tape the 10 and the defense couldn't Corral him and he took it all the way touchdown Yellow Jackets quick strike touchdown comes out and jump starts the offense and man we see this in college football so much explosiveness and Firepower and we get high scoring game after high scoring game and it looks like we're on Pace for one of those right [Applause] now they'll try to attack one more on their score the kick is up and good and put one more on the lead quick strike offense on that three-play scoring drive and the score comes with a quick strike up top covering 79 yards lining up to cover the kick after that touchdown Drive he'll bring it back from inside as five didn't find any crease in that kickoff coverage and he'll be stopped at the 17 guys here comes that Florida State offense back onto the field you want to talk about having a weapon to bail out a drive David that's why kickers are so important after that long field goal and listen important is a relative term we need to make longer passes and get better gains so we don't have to kick long field goals Palmer again on offense and they've got the weapons to do that David they just got to be able to dial those plays up guys have to be able to make them one-on-one to make life easier on this kicker who is so important to this team quickly complete tackled after picking up the first down throw him to the spot and that's exactly what he did to pick up the first down and that's so many hours of doing this together you know exactly when he's going to break on that out route you know what kind of speed he has cuz you've thrown it so many times nice Rhythm and timing and you could tell that was experience between receiver and quarterback out of the gun the inside handoff looking for a crease defense there to stop him after a two-y gain to the 31 the Run game just has not been working for this offense all game long you saw it on that last play as well just not getting enough push up front on the offensive line they haven't been physical enough picked up two yards on that last one they need eight on second down wide receiver now comes in motion touch pass on the run and this one will be stopped for No Gain got to give the defense credit watching film anticipating they knew that this offense had this play in their back pocket they knew about the speed of this wide receiver in different ways they were going to try to get him involved everybody on defense on the same page playing together I love it on third down he'll try to pick it up through the air caught close to the marker it's to aili well look that wasn't a touchdown but that was a massive play for this offense they needed some momentum they needed to find a rhythm in what better way than converting on third down awesome job by the quarterback getting through his progression the nolles are marching down the field one back in the back field and they'll give it to him they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one well the most insightful analysis I can come up with on that one is that didn't work back to the drawing board to see if there's something that works a little better soon or if I can quot the great Reese Davis that was very UNG good not a productive first down play on the move it's aangal got him downfield nice pick up there gets him the first down and sets him up at the 45 yd line nice catch there I'll tell you the seminal passing attack has come a long way over the years when I was playing against them back in the day they were in the eye formation every single play maybe it was play action maybe it was a shot play to the perimeter of the field now they've got guys running all different kinds of routes playing at different tempos lining up all over the field this dude is a guy you just have to know where he is every single snap and that's a very productive first down play and bringing up second and three boy he chews up yards doesn't he that that was really quick really decisive designed quarterback runs are are very difficult to stop and you can tell he's got some ability to make big plays and thank goodness they got him on the ground and it wasn't a bigger play than it could have been the give is to Williams and that is just an attitude run running it right up the middle right into the teeth of that [Applause] defense and the semal have it with a first and 10 used the play fake now to throw fires deep toward the end zone I I think everybody thinks when you say middle of the field safety that's an easy responsibility there's a lot of field in the middle okay I got to cover a lot of space he does an unbelievable job covering space breaking on the football seeing the route and going and getting the interception nice play by that safety the rambling wreck offense rolls back onto the field and David how they would love to stick it in the end zone one more time after that last drive and once you get the defense on their heels and you back them off a little bit you get in a little bit of Rhythm it's really hard to stop Jesse and they're going to try to do it again right here and if you're this play caller you're loving what's happening right now because everything you dialed up on that last Drive ended up working out you're just looking at your play sheet everything you're picking is working let's see if they can pull it off again here here back to throw it's King fires to the right excellent coverage and good use of the hands to knock it away well I know that one fell incomplete but what a day this guy has had throwing the football multiple touchdowns and he's done a really nice job with his decision making hasn't thrown any picks which has really helped keep this offense on schedule they'll line up for a second down play it'll be a draw makes his man miss and he runs through one tackle and picks up a few listen defense is about energy it's about passion it's about physicality they need a little bit more of that get the guy in the ground you can't let guys break tackles what could have been set up in a long yardage situation now it becomes an easier situation because you couldn't get him on the ground guys we've reached the end of the quarter and Georgia Tech has the lead three quarters are in the books time becomes a factor both in trying to hold the lead or cut into it as we take a look at the stats one more period to go to see who can make the winning plays and come home with the victory better find the earplugged here comes the noise backing this defense on third down oh and he just flat dropped it you do not see this guy do that very often it'll be fourth down I mean sometimes you overthink it sometimes running the football on Third and short with the lead is not the worst thing in the world keep that clock ticking but now decided to go for it setting up a fourth down and this looks like a situation where you should punt the football fourth down and the punt team sends it the other way excellent job on the punt bounces Out of Bounds at the five and they'll have 95 yards to go in front of them and that is why this punter is such a big weapon he can completely flip the field he's got a cannon for a leg that was a moon shot they were able to get downfield and now this offense they've got a lot of work to do if they're going to score here comes the offense on second down looking to throw it's aangal finds the tight end and that had all the makings of meet windshield but how about the little corner taking on the big tight end and keeping him from getting the first third down conversions are a huge stat and this one would be a doozy if they can pull it off from the gun wants to pass going downfield for the big play he holds it in and nobody's close and they'll do do more than move the chains they'll move that thing more than 30 yards down the field before he's finally stopped and even though they're trailing here in the fourth quarter they've got a quarterback that can bring them back but they need him now to play his A+ level of football we saw a nice completion on that last third down let's see if he can keep it going that big explosive play carries him into a plus territory they'll snap it first and 10 from just across the 50 grabbed in the middle it's Morlock and he laid the lumber to stop him from getting the first down you know I know it seems like an easy pitch and catch but for the tight end there that route potentially changes if it's man coverage so good job by him knowing it zone I'm just going to sit down this is basically like a checkdown right let's just take the easy pitch and catch and keep this drive going catch in the middle it's Morlock gets him on the ground at the 28 but not before a big 10yd pickup well down two possessions good news is you get the completion bad news though did not get out of bounds you know right now saving the clock that is at a premium for this offense the seven olds have this offense rolling they run the reverse and he'll pick up one it brings up second and nine and the seals moving quickly to the [Music] line dropping back it's to angal and the pass is incomplete Jarred Loose by the hit what a hit by the defender that's a good throw and that was going to be caught but how about the defender dislodging the football from its intended target nice job third and long coming from the 27 yd line you can make a field goal from here just don't take a negative play from the gun wants to pass throwing right it's complete he's there to make the stop but not before he sets up this offense first and goal from the seven well trailing like they are right now in the fourth quarter their execution offensively is just going to have to be at a premium you can't afford a lot of incompletions at this point everybody is going to need to be on the same page moving forward first and goal and a touchdown here really gives him momentum looking to throw makes the grab takes it to the house touchdown Florida State well how about that and after that touchdown we might have a finish after all Jesse I love it reys and this team is not quitting yeah they're down on the scoreboard right now but they are clawing and they are scratching their way back in this game they're going to keep going hard until this clock reads all zeros [Applause] and we've got a timeout here as this coach is challenging the call he wants to give the replay Booth a chance to have another look and how about the Keen eyes and sharp awareness from the coach to challenge that call and the officials agree it'll go his way grab behind the line it's Douglas and the catch and run into the end zone touchdown NOS so they get that score that they so desperately needed and now they've got a chance to pull this one out defense has got to give them a chance the defense needs to get the ball back to them quickly so they can March down the field and try and score and narrow the Gap again this offense they have The Playmakers to come back and win this football game they're going to need some help from the [Applause] defense they'll go for two here and try to climb within a field goal late makes the grab in end zone for the two-point conversion and that could be big as it draws them to within a field goal almost ready to kick it away after scoring the touchdown he'll take the return and try to improve the field position he was looking for some Running Room but not much to be found as he stopped at the 18 the Georgia Tech offense rolls back onto the field pocket starts to collapse and the defense makes a play sacking him back at the 10 this defense they are tenacious and they've got guys up front that are athletic and that are so strong and they can collapse the pocket you saw it right there in that play action attempt [Applause] second down here and maybe they've got time to get one more snap off before the two-minute [Applause] warning defense showing plenty of pre-nap movement of their own now the offense has to overcome the negative play after the defense comes up with a sack finds a crease at the 20 quick timeout called by the defense stopping the clock to save as much time as possible for their offense yeah and not a surprise by this offense right this is a game management type situation I want to run the football I want to run the clock the clock is my friend with the lead late in the fourth quarter inside of a minute I'm going to keep this ground game going and make you have to look at that clock continue to tick timeout called there by the defense desperate to get the ball back and save as much time as possible and the yellow jackets getting set on First and 10 they'll put the tight end in motion the gar and tick tick tick tick tick tick tick defense uses a timeout quickly trying to get that ball back and preserve time for their offense how about the defender being a heat seeking missile he was on radar lock he found the football and flew down with some bad intentions good job running tough and behind his pads as he gets up to the 38 yd Line This is a big pressure moment for the offense too because they've got the lead but it's now third down on their own side of the field they would love nothing more than to be able to convert this stay on the field keep bleeding the clock but the defense I'd expect them to bring pressure here trying to force the ball out of the QB's hands quickly looking to throw it's King they're setting up the screen good tackle there to stop him short of the first down and now they have to make a call oh you know that's one as a quarterback you've thrown the completion and you're like dude can you just turn around and make one guy Miss and go get the first or can you just stretch out and get the first down you need your guys to have a little bit more awareness where they are in the field on that play and even though they got the completion it's not enough to pick up the first and now you're staring fourth down right in the face was looking for more Running Room but found nothing but more tacklers he's down at the 25 four the seol have it back they'll try to get that offensive spear flaming they'll crank up this drive with a pass makes the grab it's Lee they make the stop after the catch and still some work to do to pick up that first down [Applause] [Applause] for
