what's going on people we are tot of TV back here for another match preview is the third game of the season is Newcastle away the dreaded trip to S James is hiding behind your yet we have been absolutely molded there the last couple of years um Isaac has had Phil days Jacob M Jacob Murphy is that his name um with that smile and that laugh when he scor I mean this this uh fixture just absolutely gives me shivers I don't know I'm not sure which one was more embarrassing you had the one obviously obviously probably the one with 5 n down after 20 minutes you can't get more embarrassing than 5 down after 20 minutes 4-0 Newcastle were playing like youngsters in the middle they had a no back line Murphy was at fullback they were playing they they had literally no backline at all they were playing with the back five with like lels and and all these like random players they had literally a decimated team no Joe Linton their Midfield was decimated and they still battered us 4-0 and we like a full strength team that was also really embarrassing um and obviously the but the obviously the 6-1 where we were 5 n down after 20 minutes I mean that'll probably go down in history is probably one of the biggest uh embarrassing defeat I mean was obviously the quickest anyone's ever gone 5-n up before I think and uh that was just I think historic historically spursy moment the dark old days of Christian selini yeah God that was his last game um wasn't it his first game or second game or something um something like that but look it's a different game this this year it's a different game every year hope so it better be it better be but you look at the way the two teams have started the season in terms of just the performance level I feel like we have started better than um than Newcastle I feel like Newcastle first couple of games they did really well in a hardfought victory to get the win over Southampton but I felt even with 11 on 11 Southampton with a better team dominating possession and looked a lot better and um Newcastle really threatening the Southampton goal newcastle's second game who was it against remind me Bournemouth 1-1 um again didn't play well and managed to to snatch a draw there got lucky cuz they had a good B had a goal ruled out fairly at the last minute so I feel like Newcastle are not coming into this in good form at all and also it's not just good form they haven't had a good summer they've they've I think they signed a backup keeper uh for from forest which was one of these PSR dodgy deals and who else they sign I mean who who actually theyve signed it like who's like an improvement to to their squad even uh they signed Kelly's a center back on a free yeah fine good cover but is he really going to move the needle for them massively probably not um like you would have thought Newcastle you know with the riches that you know they they have from the from the from Saudis and stuff like that you would have thought they were going to have a bigger summer really reinforce that team especially after missing out on Champions League having been there you would have thought they're ready to go again no European football really good opportunity to for them to you know go on the offensive um but they just I'm looking at their team and look they obviously got good players and they're going to be tough to play but they haven't had a good sumon until when it when it comes to really challenging like the top four like they did a couple seasons ago I think they're just well short at the moment and um I don't know if they're going to be able to uh compete on that level then saying that tanali is back you know it's his first game back from the ban and he's obviously going to be a massive Improvement and another option on the uh on the on the in the Midfield so I think he's going to be Improvement and it was just our luck this is our his first game he classic Spurs isn't it but I don't know I just feel like Eddie Hal was saying a few cryptic things in the summer you know he just didn't seem too happy he didn't seem like everything was all well um with with them in Newcastle one eye on the England job maybe maybe also the way they've been playing like I would have thought you know they would have come out with that the same energy they had two years ago they haven't they still looked a bit sluggish they still look a bit slow Off the Mark yes it's only two games in but I would have thought they would start the season really fresh and they haven't um so a few question marks I think what what better fixture though to get them back on track and Tottenham at home Dr Tottenham at your At Your Service but I think the way Spurs have started the season yeah I know we didn't get the result against leester but I feel for the most part for 75 minutes of that game we were very much on top we were dominating we were creating chances we definitely should have taken over three points that day and against Everton we were absolutely brilliant as well so um I feel like I feel like we've we've started the season a lot better in terms of the way we want to play our football and and how good we're looking on the pitch uh versus Newcastle but when you go up to St james' Park when they have the crowd behind them we know no matter what form you're going into into that game it's always going to be a really difficult um fixture and with the way we set up with the way they set up they're going to kind of sit deep in their in their mid block wait for us to Counterattack on and we're going to leave them spaces uh for them to Counterattack so well it's interesting you say that cuz I don't know if that is going to if that's the way CU that's not really how Newcastle play well it they not that kind ofam that is that is how they play last I feel like they only played like that because of all the injuries they had I feel like that's they felt like that's the best method of attack thought they played like that just because um they felt like it's the best way to Counterattack us maybe but I that's also possible because you saw other teams that don't usually set up like that did do that last season potentially I just feel like they had literally no like they had very few Defenders they only had I think Gordon and Isaac fit I think they ended up playing Barnes at Wing back or something but they were just so short of players I think they had no midfielders I think only Bruno gimz and and Ellie Anderson were playing in the middle like they were so short um and I felt like in that game that's why he set up that way now that he's got a full strength team is he going to go as defensive is he going to go back five again is he going to leave out some I don't think he goes back five I do think he goes back four but I do think they they are patient they'll wait they'll wait for us and they'll Counterattack us and they'll pounce on us when they know we're forward and we're we're lacking numbers at the back because I feel like a lot of teams looked at the way Tottenham played last year and said look this is the way to beat him potentially I've got a feeling they might be a bit more I think they might a bit more High pressing I think they might not allow us the ball they got the players to press us and that's how they like to play That's when they're at the best when they're in your face when they're pressing hard being aggressive they start like that though in the first two they haven't they haven't but I don't think that's by Design I just think it look sluggish um so maybe he'll look at that and think maybe the best course of action is just to sit in a low block I don't think Newcastle that's their game I know they did a really effective job against us last season they do it when they play the big teams though you remember like when they went to who play Arsenal was it last year or the year before n n nil and they were like everyone behind the I remember also against they played Man City last year I know they lost 3-2 at home but that was a very very much of a counterattacking display saying when they play the good teams when they play the top teams in the league that's how they set up yeah so that thats another question with uh their injuries to Rison and sanki what is the best course of action now they're going to play a if they are going to play lowb um what is the best course of action it's got Bey in the that's what I would suggest you could ALS but you you know there's a fair argument say uh Dei in Midfield potentially um and you have some pressing you've got OD bear on the wings uh and Ern Johnson and then you've got Dey who can have a bit of B attention and that he's that extra kind of lot um key to unlock their door in the middle of the park where he likes to be but then uh are we in danger of losing that Midfield battle to Joe Linton tar and Bruno gimmer which I'm assuming it's going to be the three so if you think that then you maybe put Dey in the n you put s back out wide you add Ben tenor in there or even assar with basuma and Madison and that's how you approach it um for me it's got to be basuma Ben tank or Madison in the Midfield I think both those three players are showing their own form at the moment basuma putting a really good display last time out against Everton potentially even man in the match Ben tankor the week before I think he started the season well and Madison in both games has been really good so I think you got to play the form players at the moment I don't think Pap matar's on form at the moment as well yeah I agree I think bacle is looking a lot sharper I'm really liking um how he's looked up obviously pre his uh concussion injury I thought he looked really good against Leicester so I want him back in I think bassum obviously had a great game last time Madison's looking great so I think you want I think you want those in the team and and obviously you can't really out Dei in the form is in and given that Rian Slanker out I think and also he actually did a really good job in force 9 in preseason I think that's probably the best course of action and also it just gives us if we are um playing as a low block we know de is the kind of player who can hang on to the ball in tight spaces he can maybe open up few chances whereas if we are playing against a low block as much as some might press when if we're going to have you know 70% of the ball we're going to need someone like Dei in there and not only Dei but it begs a question of the question mark about who starts at the right wing if we if we're saying that's a settled team this is what we want this is not a predicted line of what we think angre is going to make but I would much prefer to see OD bear on the right hand side particularly if they're going to sit low because brenan's great when he's got space in front of him to run into but we want OD bear within those tight spaces to take on his men in those um on the on that right hand side yeah quick feet fearlessness obviously we only saw we saw him start on the left we didn't really see him have time on the right hand side so it be interesting to see how he would get on on that side but especially if I think you know if it's going to be Dan burn potentially on that side some like odar who has the legs to really get at him um would be a very interesting Prospect um so I think I'd rather that I've got a feeling angel still persists with Brennan we'll talk about that in the in the predicted but that's what I want to see obviously the back the backline you know we know the backline was the back when we lost 4-0 vanen had an uncharacteristically really poor gameat flat on his face a couple of times which is really unlike him so he got he's got Rights and Wrongs this that um I'm I'm I know Newcastle was a place we struggle I know it's we got a lot of pts of going to St James as I know like with they last season we couldn't beaten the last season when will we but I'm quietly optimistic that we can go there put in a really good performance Dominate and actually be a lot better than we were last season I think it's a massive blow that sank is out because I think he would have made a massive difference but I still think there's enough different variables to last season to suggest that we can put in a lot better performance and um and we won't be I don't think it'll be the the the drubbing it was last season the thing for me like I kind of agree with that and I think we can go in there and put in a better display and and potentially even getting a get a better result but where I really worry is that I feel like we're going to have a really fast start maybe even have a good first half or first half an hour or something but if we do get get caught in the Counterattack and if we do concede I want to see how they respond to that because you saw how they responded to you know dominating for an hour and conceding to Leicester and then they just completely fell apart didn't they and if you do that at St james' Park and you do fall apart two 3 quick exactly uh so that's my worry really going into this game I I I don't have I don't you know I don't have a question that Spurs are going to go and perform um from the off I think we will and I think we'll come into this with a bit of a different mentality than we did the last couple of games but it's if something goes wrong and we do get caught what's going to happen after that I mean you could even argue you know you look back at the game that we finished 4-0 if I showed you that first half an hour and then I stopped the game there and I told you we're going to lose this game 40 you be like what are you on about we're in control here and then we got hit and then what was it we got hit straight away wasn't it it was one of those classic uh camera moments where the the replay hadn't even finished that only happened with Spurs yeah the replay hadn't finished and then they already cut is like 2-0 already before you even yeah literally only happens with Spurs um so yeah I think from for sure that I mean you you're right I think what happened at leer suggests if that if we do concede a goal like that and then the crowd get behind them and all of a sudden we're under pressure again especially James as well you know we that we're still um we're still fallible to that we're still um we're liable to that young team so that is definitely something to to worry about let's just hope that we score the first goal set us down if we can do that um I think even if we score the goal we need to score the first two that's what we need yeah I think if can score the first goal just set us down a bit and get that Fear Factor out the way which I feel definitely I think a lot of Spurs fans are going into this game with a big Fear Factor like you know we keep getting battered there so I think psychologically it'll be big if we can get to get that first goal obviously you don't get the win just with the first goal but I think psychologically will'll be important um and I think obviously on the Counterattack you know that I'm being very worried about Gordon on that left hand side against uh up against porro obviously Isaac running in behind hopefully vanen if he doesn't slip this time he can maybe have him more under control than he did in the last game but Gordon I think up against porro is a massive worry um uh but I look at the Newcastle backline and it's probably going to be I mean still no sha because he's suspended botman no botman so likely to be um livero Dan bur Dan bur CRA C and Hall craft and Hall best I mean as Kelly will play instead of craft Kelly well craft played right about last time and Kelly played left back all right so I mean then Hall came on and he got an assist so I don't know which one they're going to start with did trippy end up staying by the way yesterday trippy ended up staying but ien feel play I think Li they're going to go liento this season so it's on the face of it it's a backline where you there there definitely players who we feel like we should feel like we can get at but we had those injuries last season and we didn't get at them and they had probably a worst backline last season so nothing guaranteed um but if I'm going to go for a prediction I'm going to go go 22 I I'm not sure if we're still that team out it's going to go to St James par and get a win I still think it t takes a certain mentality to do that um but I think we're going to be a lot better than last season I think hopefully we'll actually uh create chances and have a bit of quality about us but it's just look at that front line for Newcastle I still see them getting Joy so I'm going to go two2 all right well um is definitely going to score is you want to bet on it uh in my uh Prem predictions I said 21 to Newcastle I just am really worried about what I said before in terms of if they do score how was how we how we're going to react to it because we've seen so many times in the past not just against Leicester but countless amounts of times last season and and pretty much ever since I've been a Spurs fan i' I've you've seen a similar trait with Spurs they don't have the mentality to just dust themselves off pick your themselves up and keep going and it takes them a good like 15 20 minutes sometimes to you know get themselves out of it and grab themselves back in the game so I want want to see evidence that we can get past that before I make any sweeping judgments about this team and sweeping predictions but we are here um tomorrow is the game and I'm getting a bit more up for it the prediction I gave was yesterday so I'm going to go a bit more positive here uh and I'm going to stick with you with 2 two uh I don't want to predict a loss here today come on uh but yeah I'm getting a bit pumped for it I'm up for it tomorrow will'll be not on the watch long but who's going to be on the watch long tomorrow bar and Ash Matic I believe uh so tune in and join them on the show tomorrow we're back uh we'll be back in
