welcome to Columbia Missouri Memorial Stadium and home to the Missour tigers where we are anticipating quite a clash on foro field today we have a ranked versus unranked battle coming up here and you know how chaos can ensue if they start smelling an upset as we'll see a squad from the back the Ball State Cardinals taking on the 10th ranked team in the land the Missouri Tigers for EA Sports college football ree Davis with you alongside David Pollock and Jesse Palmer and guys can't wait to get this one [Applause] started Missouri about to kick off they'll lift the lid on the this one on the run from inside his zone five didn't find any crease in that kickoff coverage and he'll be stopped at the 17 so ball State's offense is on the field for the first time today here he comes and obviously defense is always going to be aware of a quarterback but boy he finds a way to put defenses on their heels all the time David I mean what can't he do he he's got the the weapons he's got the confidence he's got the experience Jesse these kind of guys are so hard to defend you're right they better be able to find a way to get pressure on him because if they don't this is going to be a long day six- yd pickup on first down leaves him with second and four pulls it and fires to the left and get him on the ground but it's a first [Applause] down and they'll line up from the 31 on first down caught behind the line it's Sloan they'll pick up four second and Six coming and that's kind of a lot of today's running game right spit the ball out quick get it to your Playmakers in space get positive yards it's instead of running the ball a couple yards up the middle now you just spit it out wide and a lot of times if you break a few tackles it could be even bigger after the productive first down play it's second and six from the gun the running back has it oh what a move really nice run there good solid pickup and they'll move move the sticks with a first down I'll tell you what you want to quiet this crowd down you want to do something demoralizing to your opponent establish the Run game early on offense and the Cardinals are flying down the field looking for space it's Sloan at the 40 there he goes Off to the Races to the right touchdown Cardinals and once he found d it was Katie Bar the Door baby and these offensive coordinators tell you they want to start fast and they want to establish the Run game that is exactly what you did first drive you hand the football off making the big explosive run setting the tone for this football game getting set for the point after and the pat makes it 7 nothing a very efficient five playay scoring drive and what a way to finish things off with that 51 yd touchdown run the kick kickoff team on the field as they'll send this one [Applause] away he'll start the return inside is five really disciplined job by the coverage unit to get down there and make the stop at the 19 so Missouri's offense will have its first possession of the game offense getting set for first down it's a draw dances away from one and a really nice run in pickup there before the defense avoided disaster and stopped the really big play the quarterback in the offensive line really do a good job what do they do they sell pass first everything looks like pass nope they hit you with a run really great job working together with a little bit of misdirection and this set of downs gets started from the 33 first and 10 might as well run him until they stop him he's got it again he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple so no room to run there and you wonder after that loss on first down where they turn now yeah and that's why it's so important for the defense to win these first downs right you want to create negative plays to make this offense so much more predictable after losing a couple on that last play here's second and 12 they're going to run it to the right and there're you're able to get him on the ground I think the OC would have been really happy with a small gain and and an easier third down but how about the effort by the running back to get this close he he saw the first down marker tried to get to it got close enough now where it's an easy situation on third down and shoot and I got fourth down in my pocket if I want to go for it on Third and short they'll ride the running back here the Tigers get the first down looks as if we have an injury on that last play and we'll take a break to check him [Applause] out putting together a nice drive couple of first downs in the books now first and 10 from the 44 used the play fake now to throw fires to the wide out all kinds of room to throw that one in there and he was on his way and they get him down at the 30 really nice job by the quarterback understanding I needed to throw this ball hard like I got to fit it in there tight and a nice job by the wide receiver wearing it cuz he really didn't have a choice cuz he was going to wear that one regardless mouri wants to go fast they'll go to the ground he's brought down but not before they pick up the big first down I think throughout the week in practice when they were game planning their opening script I don't even know if they envisioned it going as well as it has this has been beautiful nice balance really nice Rhythm it feels like everything they're dialing up here on their first drive of the game is working to Perfection looking for room it's Carol relying on that running game as they threaten a pick up of four down to the 13 as they get set to snap it just about to reach the end of the quarter hand off to the lone back and after the tackle that will bring us to the end of the first quarter that brings us to the close of the quarter and ball state has the lead one period in the books and let's take a look at the stats [Applause] they are lined up and ready to go and get things started here in the second boy they'd love to move the sticks here and take a shot at it on first and goal grabbed over the middle it's buron good tackle there to stop him short of the first down and now they have to make a call well the defense playing Zone coverage there they're taking away all of the QB's primary options down the field so he has to check it down down to the drag running underneath now on fourth down they'll try to come away with [Applause] three it is true as he puts three on the board after putting up the field goal they're set to kick it away on the move from inside is five really disciplined job by the coverage unit to get down there and make the stop at the 19 Ball State gets it back the offense to the field on the run it's slow just gets it to the 28 pick up of one run game is good balance is good now listen if the Run game isn't good then you got to pass the football a little bit more but sometimes you got to keep them honest take them chunk by chunk didn't get much on first down it's second and [Applause] nine well Jet Sweep pass really nice stop there from this senior leader well and on these little push passes timing is so important you're trying to snap it right as he's getting a full head of steam when he gets the ball he's hitting the outside and David it puts the defense in such a difficult spot you immediately have to be rotating when you see that motion so everybody's got to communicate and kind of bump over that's why offenses love to run it just it makes the defense communicate and see if you can just get him out of a spot [Applause] the Cardinals send out the punt unit this will be their first punt of the [Applause] afternoon he gets a block oh he gave him the limp leg this guy is a daring punt return man he's not going to settle for the fair catch a solid return gets a little bit of ground for the offense they'll throw it on first down caught over the middle it's Cooper really nice pickup on that one as they get it to the 36 it'll be first down good job by the receiver there not to run into coverage but to find a spot that the quarterback could throw him the ball yeah on those types of routes ree they say if you're looking you're booking so if that's man coverage the reer receiver staring at the quarterback all the way across the field that time the receiver didn't give the quarterback his eyes so they were on the same page they both knew it was Zone and they executed that perfectly brought down at the 30 yd line it's a gain of six I I like it just frustrate the defense get that five to six yards make them honor the Run make them know that you're willing to run the football and run it effectively got six on first down now a lot of options on second and four they'll leave it with him and he's knocked down but there's also a flag that's been dropped let's check on the [Applause] call they say you could call holding on every play well they did on that [Applause] one back to pass it's cook throws to the wide out got his man downfield The Tackle is may but he's got it first and goal from the six and I really like when offenses attack over the middle of the field between the linebackers and the safeties there's usually a soft area that you can usually have some success and really nice job by this offense taking advantage of those areas first down here with time for maybe one more play until the two-minute warning we've reached the two-minute warning and we have ourselves a ball game and they have a chance to take the lead here before the half this offense can get a jolt of momentum headed to the locker room if they can take the lead here he's looking to pass he snares it in the end zone touchdown Missouri and I love the play design here the ball is designed to come out of the quarterback's hands quickly he finds his big time Target for the touchdown and it looks as if they've buzzed down replay wants to have another Peak at that last play after taking another look just to confirm everything the officials on the field got it right the play will stand and the extra point gives him a three-point lead at 10 to7 quick work on that scoring drive just four plays and they get it into the end zone with a 6-y touchdown pass the kickoff team out there and ready to go from inside the 10 here he comes really disciplined job by the coverage unit to get down there and make the stop at the 19 Ball State takes over the football and the Cardinal offense headed out wants to throw throw on first down just masterful working that sideline and getting the toe down for the catch you can tell this quarterback and these wide receivers are on the same page quick read quick throw quick success they created a lot of breathing room with that first play of the drive now first down from the 39 he's looking to throw it that's caught it's Robinson [Applause] quick Tempo no huddle offense second down clock's [Applause] running to the air it's Kelly looking left got his man he's run out of bounds but a big play on that one and it'll be a first down nice job there by the receiver on the out route not telegraphing where he's going you can't be peeking to the outside giving the defender an opportunity to break on the ball he kept his eyes right down the field DB had no idea where he was going and that helped make that completion a whole lot easier trying to get to him hit hard as he released the ball on that first down pass and it never had a chance well this defense felt coming into the game that if he was going to try to throw from the pocket they could get to him and affect his accuracy and they did on that last play Let's see if they go back to the air on second down he's looking to throw now adjusting he'll pull it down and run able to get just a few before sliding to avoid the hits Hey listen it's important at that position to be able to be good off schedule everything's easy when it's on time you can get the ball out but when things break down and they get off schedule you've got to have a guy back there that can make the right decisions he did exactly that third and short from the 22 is the field goal unit getting ready or is this already four down territory there's a timeout called as this offense tries to find a way to draw a little closer and on that third and short I don't think he was unhappy to see that zone nope was a great job by the offense hey see where the holes in the zone are sit down you only need a little bit of yards on this third down get the conversion move the sticks and it's intercepted a turnover for the defense and they'll drag him down after a good return on the interception man that is Picture Perfect cover zero when I play cover zero I'm bringing pressure and that Ball's going to come out look at the defense ready for that ball to come out of the quarterback's hand nice job breaking on the football and going and making the interception missou has it back in the offense coming out on the field they took their time out of the gate but now starting to try to take control of this game on offense here in the second quarter Jesse Yeah and they're playing good complimentary football up to this point but this is a huge opportunity David for them to really create some momentum W and the defense did such a good job keeping him in the game early now holding down there end now get the offense rolling put up some points on the scoreboard and then you could really get dangerous in this ball game fires to the big fella the clock will stop with this timeout from the offense they'll get a chance to regroup on the sideline I like this tight end he does a really nice job on his route running he's been beating man coverage he can find the soft spots and zones you got to get him involved to the air it's cook unloads to the wide out a strike downfield just gashing the this defense a big Gainer to the 40 yd line yeah and you see some quarterbacks who hesitate to throw the ball over the middle I love it when you attack the whole field and the middle of the field and being able to throw over linebackers in between safeties is a big skill but show that defense you're you will attack everywhere the offense calls a timeout to stop the clock the Tigers will have it first and 10 he's going to pass throws to the tight end tremendous awareness along the sideline and the ability to get the foot down for the big pickup how about this offense they're rolling they got a couple first downs together defense next what's your response what do you got you got to make some adjustments here time dwindling away as they try to put points on the board right before the half from the Red Zone looking for a receiver didn't have much of a choice there but to get rid of [Applause] it and now on second down for this [Applause] offense they'll throw again after the incompletion and that's just a flat misfire not even close to his receiver and it's third down but they're going to go ahead and try the field goal and try to get points before the break it's good that late in a half field goal always gives you a little boost going to the locker room and then need to finish off these final few seconds and not allow them to answer from inside his own 10 he'll try to help out their field position and they'll bring him down to get the offense started on the next drive that's going to wrap up the first half here and now we join Kevin with the halftime update gentlemen what else is new a spirited environment there in Columbia and it's been said football is a game of inches and guess what based on the comparison between third down conversion rate today and the average yard per play how can you argue that I mean the low-lying fruit is to look at some of the explosive plays we've seen in panic but really this game is going to come down to which team is more efficient when they have the ball and how they play when it matters most and with that let's send it back to the guys at Memorial Stadium and the Cardinals will boot it away to start the second half he'll bring it back from inside is five really disciplined job by the coverage unit to get down there and make the stop at the 19 Missouri has the offense ready to go on the field pulled and finds his man on the left they make the stop right there good pickup it's still short of the first down [Applause] here on second and short using his legs it's Carol good solid pickup on that one they've got it out to the 40 and it's first down and that's all you want right you want that first down understand the situation understand I got to get North and South get a first down get a new set of downs now from the 40 it's first and [Applause] 10 they go to the ground at Midfield he's got R and there was lots of space as he gets it to the 39 yd line I love that play call this offense is going to run the football they're not just going to do it between the tackles but they're going to attack you outside you saw that with that handoff they get to the right they get him in space using his speed good play call to the ground he's got it again they get him on the ground at the 33 but not before he picks up six I like this guy as a running back because he can run between the tackles and he can also go out side he can really do it all six- yd pickup on first down leaves him with second and four give to the running back and how about that interior defense stuffing the run for nothing that's a really good stop by the defense Jesse they need a few more you've given up a bunch of yards on this drive and a bunch of plays but all that matters is keeping them off the scoreboard yeah it's that bend don't break mentality you're seeing right now and this is the point where this defense has just got to lock in he'll try to pop the draw can't get him to the ground and that first Defender was just waving at him after that sweet move he picked up the first down well that's kind of the advantage of third and medium right is the defense you keep him guessing you could throw it you can run it that time they hand it off and they pick it up yeah and you can see the d drop back a little bit of creates a little bit of space the running back blasts through gets the first down looking to throw it's cook quarterback moving out of the pocket on the run and he'll slide to avoid the hit a Nifty pickup there he does a good job of dropping back going through his progressions nothing there what do I do go get some yardage make it positive don't sit back in the pocket and force something into a bad situation or take a sack great job making something out of nothing Zoo trying to cash in on a Red Zone trip from the gun they'll try to impose their will tackled but he has a first down and another nice gain by the offense all right defense we got to change something up here they they're putting a big drive together play after play having a lot of success how do we break the Rhythm how do we give them something that can create a tackle for a loss or a sack or something to get momentum back on my side he'll come out throwing on first down holds it in in the end zone touchdown Tigers it's hard for a defense to have to cover so much space when the offense goes empty you've get receivers and tight ends and running backs lined up out wide you've got to expand and it's harder to cover on the back end [Applause] looking for the two-point try wide out in motion touch pass on the run into the end zone for the two-point conversion as they extend the lead they go 83 yds on the drive and they finish it with an 11 ydd touchdown Dart kickoff team lining up to send this one away and he takes this from inside the five he was looking for some Running Room but not much to be found as he stopped at the 18 Ball State gets it back the offense headed to the field out of the gun the running back has it that keeps the running game churning pick up of five to the 23 hey five to six yds a pop I don't know if you guys are really good at math but that usually equals a first down every couple carries so don't forget about the Run game keep them honest pound that rock the Cardinals racing to the line in the hurry up quick touch pass to the receiver that's what you expect from a senior don't give them any extra yards great tackle there [Applause] and this offense can ill afford to come up empty on this drive already trailing by multiple possessions to the air it's Kelly he's got his man and the defense makes the immediate tackle but he has enough for the first down that's the end of the quarter and Missouri has the lead this has been utter domination through three quarters and The Stance will back that up one more period to go and we'll see just how much fight they've got left in them and the Cardinals will snap it on First and 10 he'll do it himself and they're able to shove him to the turf as they stop him for a short gain well the QB decided to keep it on that one and listen if you had his athleticism you'd want to keep it too almost every time they run these types of option plays but he's just going to have to do a good job of understanding when to hand it off when to pitch it and try to keep this defense on their heels and read his keys he's got a lot of talent just got to make sure he's making the right decisions moving forward got a man it's Robinson stopped at the 44 but he got 10 on the play nice job by the receiver there running the drag rout outout against Zone coverage finding the soft spot making it easy on his quarterback to get the completion he turns it up field and he moves the sticks the Cardinals are rolling down the [Applause] field off the play fake on first down intercepted takes it the other way and they'll close in on him after a good return on the interception nice job by this defense that might be the ex exclamation point fourth quarter I got a lead you bring on the nickel defense you know they're passing the football for plays just like that to make the int and almost put this one away maou has it back in the offense coming out on the field there wasn't much need to throw it around on that last drive for the touchdown Jesse they got it done running the ball and David I don't think you have to overthink this thing if they can't stop you running it why would you stop handing it on just keep at it here on this drive well and if I'm the defense I'm making some changes I'm bringing in more big bodies I'm playing more aggressive towards the line of scrimmage I am not going to let them have that kind of drive again Missouri gets to the line quickly they'll run the ball the clock is on their side they'll give him maybe one on the the play it's down to the [Applause] 20 they'll probably bleed every second possible off this clock before they snap it reads it fires complete and just a short safe pass play they pick up a few offense breaks the Huddle it's third down wide receiver shows motion looks as if he's going to run it he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three we reached the two-minute warning and this offense is that much closer to salting away a victory so here comes the field goal unit they've been doing work today they've already made a couple and if they can make this and turn it into a three-score game they'll have this one all but locked up it is perfect and now the lead is extended a little further he keep pushing that lead out and the kickoff team's getting some [Applause] work here he comes from inside his own five he was looking for some Running Room but not much to be found as he stopped at the 18 Ball State takes over the football and the Cardinal offense headed out fires to the wide out that is just a sideline Clinic throw catch tow drag everything you want nice catch just past the first down marker so this drive stays alive nice job by the quarterback and receiver it's first and 10 from the 31 [Applause] looking for a man it's Kelly and this will be incomplete a big hit there forces second down it's a nice adjustment by the defense here with a big lead in the game you're putting extra DBS on the field knowing the offense has to throw to get back in this one in the fourth quarter so your best cover guys on the field and they force an incompletion on the last one now on second down he's looking to throw pressure coming got it in the middle it's Robinson the offense gets a quick timeout at this point every second is precious that last completion still leaving them with a third down he'll just keep slinging it throws to the wide out can't quite make the connection there might have led him a little too much well a lot of things haven't gone right for him you saw an incompletion right there it's been offense it's been defense they just haven't been able to click and get into a rhythm here and now they're playing catchup and you know they're going to be throwing at each and every play here in the fourth quarter coach has no choice here the offense has to stay on the field down multiple possessions this late fourth down attempt coming and he's tripped up but not before picking up the first down and how about the Run play on Fourth and three to four a lot of times you see that's a pass play nowadays they run the football they stick to what they do well they know where first down marker is and they get the first down everybody has to be set they have to get it off going up top on first down got him downfield they've got the defense reeling right now with that big play to the 29 quick timeout called by the offense after the play trying to preserve every minute possible comes out throwing on first down incomplete he had it right in his hands for the pick and I believe he might have been thinking about those big plays he's known for instead it'll be second down couldn't make the connection last time let's see if they throw it [Applause] again looking for a man it's Kelly pocket starts to collapse pass r coming after the quarterback and they get him at the 32 well the problem for this offense now late in the game trailing by a bunch of points is that the defense knows they're going to throw the football and right now offensively they cannot protect the edge you saw the speed coming from the outside he was able to get to the quarterback for another negative play on Third and long doesn't need to take the check down and that's incomplete a Defender all over him knock the ball to the ground fourth down coming up it's really hard to win football games when you're one-dimensional offensively and that's the case they just have not been able to get anything going throwing it deep down the field they haven't won their one-on-one matchups quarterback has missed some throws and as a result in the fourth quarter they barely have 100 yards passing and that's why they're losing fires left makes the catch he's got enough the offense takes a timeout with 30 seconds left well I think the experience on offense was was a big reason why the head coach felt confident going for it there on fourth down he has a lot of guys that have played a lot of snaps they've been in these big game moments before ice in their veins and you saw it there on that completion to keep the sticks moving he was able to squirt free and pick up just a few on that one it's just so nice to have a QB under Center nowadays in football you can trust these guys you put so much on their plate and you tell them go get positive yards when it's there and a lot of these guys are such great athletes they do it with [Applause] ease for
