Aaron Rodgers Says Jets Don't Have Time To Wallow In Self Pity

Aaron how hard is it to build off of tonight because obviously we saw there were moments out there where the DNA of a really good offense seemed to be in place yeah I think there's a lot there um we didn't put our defense in the best spots with the three and outs you know we had opportunities I think we had a drop on the first uh third down we had a couple penalties on third down um you know we we weren't very good on first second down uh for much of the night and then just missed you know missed a few opportunities there's probably no sporting event in all of sports that people overreact to more than the first game of an NFL season you referred to that and you've got some young guys in this locker room and you take it upon yourself maybe even after this game to talk to some of those guys and just let them know how long this season is and how much football you guys have in front of you I think so I mean that's what I was saying on the sidelines at the end of the game uh I said you know something similar in the locker room uh we got two games in 10 days so we don't have time to wallow in uh self-pity here uh we got to you know we got to correct this film and move on Tennessee's got a real good defense I think they played really good their first game uh so we got to move on to the next one and then we got a home opener four days after that one so uh it's a it's a you know stress or starting the season like this but um you know we know we got to play better I got to play better and uh you know obviously we uh we can't turn the ball over twice and lose turnover battle expect to win final question though you personally to be back out there after a year to take a couple of hits to come out of the game okay I mean what do you take out of your performance and just being able to get through the game I'm just so thankful yeah so many people uh you know who helped me to to be able to come back people on the staff here uh people back home I you know my surgeon I was thinking about all those people before the game just so thankful uh so much gratitude to be able to be back on the field uh you know it took a few plays for the nerves to subside I finally took a shot which was nice but thought the protection all night was was great uh we just didn't run the ball you know we were just a little bit off in in the Run game and uh I missed two passes but man there's no no better feeling than being back on the uh on the field for a game and I'm just uh excited about the season I love our guys I think we're going to bounce back and be just fine it was great seeing you back out there thanks thank you with CJ Mosley CJ obviously not the result you guys wanted tonight but what did you think of the Jets defense uh I mean we going to always play with heart we always play with passion at the end of the day you know we got to get off the field on third down we got to get some turnovers um you know that's our Mo that's how we going to be a dominant defense and that's how we're going to keep our dominant offense on the field of you know do do what they did to us keep us on the field you know Tire us out go sideline to sideline um you know for for any any team that's always going to be the key to Victory you know running the ball well controlling the clock and controll of the turnover battle and you know they did that tonight now maybe wasn't the characteristic standard that you guys hold yourselves to was there something that you felt maybe was the biggest aspect that wasn't clicking um not sure Ian you got to watch the film um but just the feel of it you know we they had a couple successful run on first and second down we had a couple successful stops for their runs on first and second down but at the end of the day um I'm pretty sure we we didn't win a third down battle and that's always going to be key to Victory so just got to do a better job there you know understand know what teams are going to trying to do um to stay on the field you know we they knew you know they knew our system you know based on you know every all the coaches and stuff but at the end of the day you know it's up to the players on the field to make that happen so we got to watch the film you know we got to look at it hard take care of our bodies and get ready for Sunday what's something that the Jets without watching the film The Jets defense can work on maybe even specifically the linebacker room on this short week as you guys turn it around for another away game um really just prepare for Sunday I mean that's that's the best way to to take the next step um you know watch this film see what they did to see what they did that was successful because teams are going to repeat that um and try to understand Tennessee as fast as we can in four days or whatever it is um so got a got a short week so you know that's that's part of it you got to take care of our bodies and watch a lot of film awesome appreciate the time CJ y thank you here with Alan Lazard Allan not the way you guys wanted this game to go today but what did you see from the Jets offense oh you know the first half obviously wasn't our standard it wasn't our expectations we had way too many three and outs today um but you know it's the first game of the season you know the biggest thing I think for any team is from improving from week one to week two and so we have to focus on what we did right and also lock in on the mistakes and see how we can fix them going into the next week couple of the things that you did right two touchdowns that 1 36 yd touchdown on the free play what did you see on that one yeah um we were able to get him to jump off sides and that's kind of Aaron Rogers patent um thing to be able to get the defense to jump off sides and take a free play we left the middle of the field open so I went down the pipe and Aaron threw a great ball and I was able to catch in and get it in without looking at the tape yet obviously where do you think this offense maybe specifically the wide receiver group can improve for this next week yeah I think if we just focus on run blocking um whether it's inside the box or on the perimeter that'll help us spring spring open pass plays and be able to get more open in the pass game as well to kind of get the whole offense fown and what was coach salah's message to the team oh the the whole message you know going into this game after this game was going to be that regardless of the results of this game it wasn't going to make a break our season you know obviously we would rather win um would have rather put um A Better Effort out there but at the end of the day we can't change what what the last four quarters were we just got to focus on the tape and improve going in next week awesome
