Aloha Welcome To Paradise haa Hawaii just outside of Hulu and the home of the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors a tremendous setting and a spectacular game that we have in store what an exciting matchup we have in store for you this afternoon built around the pageantry tradition and everything that makes college football great as we'll see a squad from the Big 10 the UCLA Bruins taking on a team from from the Mountain West the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors glad to have you with us for EA Sports college football I'm reys Davis David Pollock and Jessie Palmer with me in the booth guys we are ready to tee it up the Rainbow Warriors will get us underway with the opening kickoff he'll bring it out from inside his own 10 able to find enough room to get it out across the 25 he's brought down at the 26 the Bruins offense will get the first swing of the game and there's a man who believes he is always open he carries that swag and that aura of a big time playmaker guys he's got to catch the football if you're the quarterback coming into this one you are looking for this guy early and David you're looking for him often and this offense better find ways to feature him find him like you said Jesse early often deep shallow get this man the football they're trying to slow that Rush down with the draw able to work it to the 39y yard line and that'll be a first down and the Bruins want to move quickly you think about the long list of great UCLA running backs you know people forget Jackie Robinson was a UCLA running back and Jackie also started safety for UCLA he started both ways just think about how good of an athlete you have to be to do that but the tradition the uniforms the rose bow everything about UCL just smells good from the gun the running back tries to hit the hole and he'll be taken down but he does have enough for the first down the Bruins are flying down the field the might as well give it to him again that's what you expect from a senior don't give them any extra yards great tackle there picked up two yards on that last one they need eight on second down pulls and throws off the RPO and the defense had that one well covered just a short game there they line up and it is a long way to the sticks from here back to throw it's garbers can't make the connection on third down thanks to that tough hard noosed pass defense and now it's Fourth Down able to keep them from getting a return and the ball goes out of bounds they're going to mark it right around the 20 so the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors offense taking the field first chance we have to see them today and they seem to believe that they can take big plays away and man coverage by just locking him up in this matchup David yeah and it's hard to lock down a great wide receiver but a great defensive back versus a great wide receiver we got a showdown yeah let's be honest David most defenses don't have a dude like that at cornerback that could do that in a game like this but this matchup is unique and it's going to really determine the outcome of the game after the second down missfire looking at a third and eight from the gun wants to pass throws to the wide out got him downfield and it is a chunk play a huge gain on that one before the defense brings it to an end there's a reason third down is called the money down what a great find by the quarterback great job finding his receiver uh at the end of the game you look at third down percentages it tells a huge story and it goes a long way in deciding who wins a football game the give to the running back from the shot gun and he'll find enough Running Room to get it just short of Midfield at the 49 as they get set to snap it just about to reach the end of the quarter trying play action fires to the wide out working the middle they make the stop but not before he wraps up this first period with a huge game it has been all defense all the time in the early going as we wrap up the first quarter in the stats certainly reflect that let's see if the offense can find a little rhythm here in the second and the Rainbow Warriors come to the line with a fresh set of downs comes out throwing on first down and the senior would love to have that one back just a little too much on the pass couldn't make the play last time now it's second and 10 from the 30 to throw it's shager right down the middle and the pass is incomplete Jarred Loose by the hit this drive was clicking along but after a couple of misfires threatening to stall out on Third and 10 feeling some heat and the ball comes out what a disastrous play oh looks as if the defense got it and the defense able to get pressure to the quarterback and they've got everybody trying to swipe at the football and the impact on the hit sometimes jars the ball loose great job with the pass rush and a better job for forcing a turnover UCLA will go back to work on offense David the punter got some work last time they'd like to keep him on the sidelines in this drive yeah it's not something you want to say very often you don't want the punter out there this offense needs to get back lathered up and get a little bit more of a rhythm best way to do that identify where your best players are and just get them the football give these guys some touches to Kickstart this offense quarterback on the keeper he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three and the Bruins come to the line in the hurry up it's a draw still running at the 40 off he goes touchdown UCLA and once he found daylight it was Katy the door baby number 25 huge play it's so nice to have guys that can create these explosive plays like this you hand it to him he can do the rest look at the speed look at the elusiveness get into the end zone nice [Music] run lining up to attack one more on to that lead and he's got the extra point and it's seven nothing to start this one quick strike offense on that three-play scoring drive and they capped it off with a thrilling 50yd Run for the touchdown and he takes this from inside the five really disciplined job by the coverage unit to get down there and make the stop at the 19 first down here with time for maybe one more play until the two-minute warning they try to pop a run on the draw and you can forget running in the middle against this defense we reached the two-minute warning and we have ourselves a ball game and they have a chance to take the lead here before the half fires to the big fella and he'll step out of bounds after a very productive play now looking for that first down on Third and short from the 26 up looking to throw for it oh they really could have used that catch there physical pass defense it brings up a fourth down the Rainbow Warriors send out the punt unit this will be their first punt of the afternoon slips through the line looking for Running Room he'll get it to the 43 yd line before he stopped the UCLA offense is back on the field ready to go to work back to pass it's garbers looking down the middle a strike downfield and he's running in the open and the catch and Rod into the end zone touchdown Brewing it did not take long to get into the end zone now let's see if this gets this offense to hit overdrive and we may have a situation here we might have points more points and more points you keep putting Drives together like that that quickly tune up that much yardage defenses are going to have to get something figur it out P unit on the field for the extra and the extra point pushes the lead to 14 that drive not too taxing on the Playbook One play put it in the end zone just like that about to kick it away after scoring the touchdown here he comes from inside his own five he was looking for some Running Room but not much to be found as he stopped at the 18 Hawaii ready to go back to work on offense they'll throw it on first down not a lot of time left here in the half let's see if they can cut into this lead and this drive isn't a must score but man you look at the scoreboard you're down two scores Jesse you got a good opportunity create some momentum cut it to a one- score game this is an important possession he lobs one high down the left side and they can't hook up going for the big play on second down now it's third third down if they can convert here that type of play can really give you a shot of momentum power football with the Run picks up just a few before he's brought down not really willing to take a risk there on Third and long timeout called here by the defense it's their first of the half fourth down and the punt team sends it the other way he's got great speed he was hoping for a little more Running Room but they're able to get him down if the 45 first down for this offense to the air it's garbers gets it to the back and a quick completion an even quicker loss the defense was right there to knock him down looking to pass on second down makes the grab outside it's third of it and he goes out of bounds after coming up with positive yardage there it's third down on Third and long he has to throw for it unloads it left nice defensive play to get a hand in there and knock it away the Bruins will send out the punt unit this will be a second time they've had to kick it away able to keep them from getting a return and the ball goes out of bounds they're going to mark it right around the 20 the Hawaii offense returns to the field so late in the half this is really an opportunity day David maybe to swing the momentum in their favor dang right there's no time to be concerned we're a little bit down listen I just think this is a point with the offense that they can prove like we're here we're going to create something now that we can build on in the second half coach said all week he wanted to be aggressive this is a great opportunity to show that right now at the end of the first half try and generate some momentum score some points before going into halftime they'll throw again after the incompletion snagged in the middle it's right there's a timeout called as this offense tries to find a way to draw a little closer these are the types of plays where offenses impose their will third and short from the 45 and they got him he'll get him down for the sack quick timeout by the defense there trying to make sure everyone has the same call and the Rainbow Warriors decide to pun it away might have thought he want to try to pick up a few yards there but he's content with making the fair catch right around the 35 yd line he'll start this drive firing he lofs it high and deep down the left side and it slips through his fingers incomplete that would have been a huge gain if he could have squeezed it misfired on the last play they'll go back to the air that pass is incomplete and they might be fortunate it wasn't knock free for a fumble it'll be third down looking to throw it's garbers all kinds of room to throw that one in there major gaps in that defense and he got loose and they finally knock him down at the 41 time dwindling away as they try to put points on the board right before the half looking to go up top on first down pass is incomplete and we dwindle down to 7 Seconds second and 10 after the previous play he's looking to throw not much of a chance there he just had to get rid of it to avoid the sack just enough time for one final play of the half the give to the tail back he breaks a tackle he'll be brought down and that's the final play of the half first half in the books time now to join Kevin Connor in our halftime update man nice to see you actually showed up for today's broadcast in Paradise given all there is to do there in Honolulu talk about a first half from that dude out of the back field he's been a total Game Changer and how many top plays moments have we seen on Miss tackles Alone video game moves from one of the shiftiest players in all of college football and with that let's say aloha once again to the guys inside Aloha Stadium kickoff and kickoff return teams on the field and we are just about ready to go in the second half on the move from inside is five he was looking for some Running Room but not much to be found as he stopped at the 18 Hawaii has it back as they send the offense onto the field they keep it on the ground to open the third nowhere to run on that one he loses four on the carry a negative play to open the Drive let's see what they've got on second and 14 now they'll run the draw and maybe they want to try somewhere else because there is nothing doing in the middle of this defense and this offense just has to find a way to convert this third down or else they are he losts one down the sideline and trying to put points on the board on third down now they're staring at Fourth Down The Rainbow Warriors line up to punt it away he's getting a lot of work fourth time he's punted tonight he'll return it from around the 50 and the coverage team able to make the tackle and the offense out on the field to go back to work quarterback flips INE quickly to the receiver open Runway ahead and chunk plays are the name of the game and they get one here before the defense finally makes the stop I love that play call and I love the timing of the pre-nap motion because the quarterback was able to get it to the receiver right behind the offensive line because of the timing he was able to outflank the defense that puts him out in space where he's able to use his speed nice job with the pre- snap motion and timeing he wants to throw he's got it down the middle nice quick throw there and it's so important for quarterbacks to be able to find the Rhythm and to be comfortable and confident you want to just get the ball out quickly make it an accurate and easy throw and you could tell that these two guys they rep that play in practice all the time and it's now showing up here on and they make the Stop and this offense has it inside the five and they are threatening a first down run in the Red Zone he's got it down to the one yd line right on the doorstep of per second and goal for this offense dropping back it's garbers extending the play and he tries to get away but he cannot he's taken down he'll lose a couple well they take a sack right down by the goal line guys and I think the route concept really didn't help the quarterback out there normally you're thinking this is going to be a quick hitter get the ball out of his hands fast but that was a very slow developing route concept I think that's the biggest reason he got sacked the pressure ramps up on Third and goal slams it ahead and they're able to make the tackle so now on comes the field goal unit he won't have any problem with the distance but the Ang could be a different story from the left and that is no good missed the field goal missed the chance to make it a thre possession game but still a 14-point lead [Music] guys Hawaii ready to go back to work on offense their Drive chart is starting to look a little monot us punt punt punt David and their defense is starting to get a little frustrated too they just keep putting me back on the field possession after possession Jesse this offense needs to get their heads out of there you know what the punter's on the sideline with the oxygen mask right now he's been playing so much he's not used to this this offense they just got to stay on the field they've got to put a drive together and get some balance going running and throwing the ball snap from the gun on third down and that's it's incomplete a Defender all over him knocked the ball to the ground fourth down coming up and the Rainbow Warriors will punt this one away they've been busy out there to punt for the fifth time today he gets a block coverage team gets the job done and they'll Mark him down at the 38 yd line and they'll get off one more play before the end of the quarter back to throw it's garbers and he just overshot his man and threw it out of bounds incomplete after the quarterback and receiver couldn't connect it's second and 10 they go to the draw and he is stopped for no gain and that will bring us to the end of the third quarter that's the end of the quarter and UCLA has the lead theyve built a comfortable lead after 3 qu of play Let's Take a look at how we got here one more period to go and we'll see just how much fight they've got left in them a third and long coming up here from the gun wants to pass unloads to the wide out that is just a sideline credit throw catch tow drag everything you want they showed great trust in their quarterback right there and why not he's had an outstanding game an outstanding game has taken care of the football now late in the game you got the lead that first down now tells me now it's time to start running the football run the clock get out of here with the DB fast motion from the offense he'll try to keep this clock moving on the ground that play just never had a chance they knock him down for a loss of five he'll try to overcome that last play on second and 15 from the gun they'll try the middle really nice stop there from this senior leader it's third down now and they ought to be able to get off one more play before the two-minute one warning we reached the two-minute warning and this offense will be quite content just to drain the rest of the time away they go to the ground across the 25 he's got room and there they go again with another huge gain on the ground he's finally run out of bounds really been impressed by the balance we've seen from this offense so far in the game but I think you got to give a lot of the credit credit to the running game because it's been able to freeze these defenses it's helped set up play action they've been physical at the point of attack I think that really has been the key Force for this offense so far having the success they've had Jukes his way for more quick timeout called by the defense stopping the clock to save as much time as possible for their offense going to work on second down in the red zone is still some ground to cover to pick up that first down and the defense hold firm no pickup at all on that play timeout is called and it's the defense wanting to make sure that everyone's on the same page for this big down on the move it's Harden and he's a real Nowhere Man tackled in this no gain land timeout called there by the defense desperate to get the ball back and save as much time as possible and this one splits the upright and they'll push that lead out a little further UCLA 17 Hawaii [Music] zero that lead just keeps getting fatter in this kickoff team doing a little running he'll bring it back from inside his spot really disciplined job by the coverage unit to get down there and make the stop at the 19 the Hawaii offense returns to the field going up top on first down gets it out fast they make the stop right there good pickup it's still short of the first down everybody has to be set they have to get it off dropping back it's shager got his man down the middle and he's knocked down immediately but not before he moves the chains the Rainbow Warriors will hustle to the line they'll throw it on first down he's going up top here late in the game and this is dropped incomplete pass he had a huge gain in his fingers and he couldn't hold on on they're going to throw it again coming after it that pass is incomplete and they're probably fortunate that it wasn't knock free for a fumble on third down he'll try to pick it up through the air it's complete to the left and he's not going to make it the defense denying him the first down on fourth down they'll to throw it makes the grab well past the sticks and not much of a fourth down gamble when it's that much of a sure thing and easy conversion for this offense this offense has not put their best product on the field today they've got no points to show for any of their efforts so far but they've still got a chance but if it's going to happen it has to happen now in this two-minute situation this is where their Playmakers need to step up and he's just going to spike it defense walks to the line for play number seven of the drive on second down wants to throw shoots it to the left holds it in he's right out of bounds but not before turning in a big pickup and moving the sticks for a first down they're looking to pass from the Red Zone touchdown Hawaii and they made it to the house where they found that six points waiting on him and a nice touchdown continuing to fight continuing to play this one it's pretty much over down multiple possessions this late in the football game it would take a miracle but nice job by this offense continuing to fight push the ball down the field make [Music] plays he'll try to tack on one more extra point and the Pat will draw them one point closer so a drive there of 82 yds time is against them still down by two scores but they'll line up for the onside kick that's why they call them the hands team they're able to secure the onside kick so with the late lead they're ready to just drain the clock in Victory formation and they'll take a knee and watch this clock keep on winding winding its
