Blue Jays vs Angels Game 131 (SWEEEEPPPP!!!!) (August 25th, 2024)

now I don't know about you guys but that is a beautiful way to end the weekend as the Blue Jays sweep away the Los Angeles Angels and I don't really know what that is and the anyways say sweep away the angels in four games see you later LA and see you later Taylor Ward and uh Taylor Ward we heard the comment after the game yesterday about bound Francis outing and this is the quote I thought everything was hitable maybe to other guys he made better pitches other guys were talking about his split and that being on but I don't think it was anything special so then during the game today as the Blue Jays broadcast was talking to B and Francis Chris Basset held a little paper sign that looks like he just wrote himself 15 innings two hits 20 strikeouts and very sarcastically hitable plus not special don't you love it because I'm sorry if you're going to make comments about how nothing was special you face the guy now twice in a matter of what just over a week and he threw 15 Innings against your team and you allowed two hits you know what that's telling me you're also trying to throw shade at B Francis in the J for hyping up his almost no hitter you're also saying hey our team is garbage our team is no good our players suck now we all know they're no good but as a teammate you're basically throwing your own players under the bus so good on you Taylor Ward and then you got your ass kicked 82 today so good on you anyways to the game itself as the Blue Jays beat up the Angels 82 and the angels continue to be one of the most laughable franchises in all of baseball they have now lost five of well five in a row and I believe they've lost they've won two of 11 or something like that they've been pitiful and the Blue Jays look I'm not going to read into it have I taking a quick peek at the standings sure because I'm a nutcase but I also it also hit me with reality like just stop stop enjoy the ride enjoy the winds where they come and they're the freaking angels as a Jay's win all seven games against the Angels this season now Kevin Gosman got the start today and I'd say he was pretty damn good as the Angels only get two hits against him and three hits all game long Taylor Wards probably be pretty damn quiet after after this game today so let's break it down bottom half of the third inning very interesting things occur as David Schneider walks and Addison Barger singles dude stays red hot and then says two on and nobody out Springer then strikes out but Joey L peredo grounds out to uh was it to set no first hold on a minute sorry he grounds out to first but both guys move up so you have second and third with two out for vlat they intentionally walk him to bring up Alejandro Kirk and with a very weird Strike Zone he was able to draw walk there were two instances today that they decided to intentionally walk vlat one I just completely didn't understand and we'll get into that this one made more sense right base open fine but then T throw a strike get Tyler Anderson and V Kirky walks in comes David Schneider Jay's lead at one- nothing top of the fourth inning Taylor Ward did triple the center field Jo L perfo man that would have been a beautiful catch if it was VAR show it might have been an actual catch but who cares and he ends up scoring on a Netto single and that was really all they did those two hits were the only hits they had in the in the entire seven Innings against Kevin Gosman that tied the game at one at that time though we go to the bottom half for the fifth inning with George Springer on first base vlat look this is how you know he's special he was out in front of this pitch didn't get a lot of muscle behind it or at least you know a normal person's amount of muscle and he drives this thing to left field it goes off the- wall it's an RBI double for vlat his 35th double of the Season that is incredible stuff um where is his double stats there you go uh he ties his career high in doubles in the season and in 2022 that is when he had 35 doubles as well even in his great 2021 season he Hade 48 home runs but he only had 29 doubles he's got 35 doubles in the Ops is going to be over 950 after today's game for vlady incredible stuff and that J that gave the Jays the lead there that was a 2-1 lead now bottom of the sixth inning with Will Wagner on base Addison Barger gets a hang and breaking ball and what's the saying we know him ball yeahi oh he bangi and he crushed this thing to right field it is way gone a two run shot for Addison Barger third home run in his many days no that's a I know hold on a minute let me just confirm that I think you hold on two home run in as many days there we go I I don't know why I thought he had a multihomer game but anyways two-run shot doubling up the Jay's lead it no hold on a minute math guys you you guys know has never been my strong suit and it will continue to not be because I I'm just getting older it ain't getting better uh it's a 4-1 lead for the damn Blue Jays let's leave it at that bottom half of the seventh this was the interesting part for me and vlady comes up right this Matt Moore is on the hill and he ends up leaving the game with an injury but joy Le pero grounds out BL comes up and I believe it was a 31 count and they just put him on base it's a 3-1 count with what I just I don't get it nobody on bringing up Alejandro Kirk and he crushes one to left field and it's gone a two-run shot for Kirky and it backfired twice on the angels in this game the intentional walk of Vladimir Guerrero Jr and it puts the Jays up was it 6-1 at this point and it feels over right that was like kind of the nail in the cough at top of the eighth inning Brandon Drury goes deep off it was it Tommy Nance yeah Tommy Nance takes deep making it's 6'2 but who the hell cares as in the bottom half of the eighth inning the base is loaded in one out joy Le perfo does a great job of just getting the ball on the ground to right to the right side so it's a fielder's Choice run comes in Leo Jimenez scores and then Vladimir guo Junior comes up when you're when you're feeling good you're feeling good he bloops one into center field for a base hit Barger comes in to score and the Jays now lead it 82 and it's curtains it's a great game for the Blue Jays overall I want to ask you guys something real quick I've been looking into it a little bit more would you guys be interested when I'm able to find time and find a space to do this consistently would you want me to fire up a twitch stream I mean I'd love to do that kind of stuff with you guys I can interact with you more now people have talked about me doing YouTube stuff agreed and I've done a few of them but twitch streams it's a lot more interactive I can interact with you guys a lot more and it'll be a lot of fun if you would be interested if not that's completely fine I just wanted to fire a question out there and see what you thought all right so let's get to the player stats cuz there's some there's some good ones to talk about here all right George Springer won for four in the ball game did walk once got on base twice today and scored a run joyo profo he did go all for four for some reason hit the number two hole I get he's hot but it's just like maybe just let him let him feel comfortable down there in the seven eight hole where he where he has been recently but 0 for four but he did draw a walk in that first inning and it was a really good ab down 02 in the count fouled off some pitches ended up drawing a walk a really good at that and then he had an RBI got on base once drove in a run I don't care what else you do at that point be productive and he was vlat two for three with the Run scored two RBI and got intentionally walked twice so fine by me you know the O the OBP for V up to 395 a batting average of 320 the Ops is going to be over 950 pay the damn man just just do it okay keep him around please Alejandro Kirk starting to get hot he was one for four in the ball game but who cares a three-run shot and he walked once in the game he's hitting 248 with a 322 on base and the Ops is getting closer and closer to 700 he's just been great recently and it's good to see from Kirky uh down the lineup not much else going on down there except for Addison Barger in the nine hole putting in work two for three with two runs scored two RBI obviously on the Home Run walked once in the ball game as well and the numbers are starting to creep up for Addison that's great to see that batting average just just under 200 at 194 the OBP I think's at 230 now at this point the Ops is nearing 6 600 he's starting to really actually it might be at 600 it was 594 before the walk in his last at bat so it's good to see from Barger he's starting to get comfortable now you're playing the Angels so it is what it is but enjoy it now Kevin Gosman seven Innings of two hit ball one run didn't walk anybody and struck out 10 vintage Kevin Gosman right there back-to-back really good starts against the pitiful angels and the ra now down to 410 for Kevin Gosman it's slowly starting to get back to what he does best strike out guys no walks beautiful stuff Tommy Nance win an inning allowed one hit in a run obviously the Brandon jury home run did strike out one and Zack po through a clean ninth inning no base runners and a couple punch outs there now things get interesting for blue jay fans we've watched them beat up on the Angels over the past week and a half now you got some tougher teams obviously that weird games tomorrow the double header between the Jays and Red Soxs 205 first pitch and I think that's probably that weird one with Danny Jansen being able to play in both game it's on paper he's not actually going to suit up in a Jay's uniform and then flip over it's not going to happen that way but anyways you have five straight games against the red so obviously the double header tomorrow and then three more so it's going to be a crazy crazy next five games for this team not saying it means anything look if you sweep them and you're a 500 team oh that make things a little bit more interesting but it that very difficult to do and then you have the twins in Minnesota and hey if you're trying to sniff a playoff spot which you're not uh that's a team that's holding that last spot so take that for what it is two against the Phillies three against the Braves three against the Mets three against the Cardinals I mean that's a tough tough stretch and look this is a young team right now in the blue jays who are feeling zero pressure there's no pressure for this team to go out there and win five six seven in a row and get into a playoff spot it's just it's there's nothing to it so go out there play hard and see what happens they did this weekend and they won four in a row so good on the Blue Jays for beating up in the crappy Angels game one of the Red Sox series obviously goes tomorrow I don't know who's going game one it looks like BOS and PVA who Nick Peta is going in the the night cap at 710 uh not sure who's going to be pitching the first game it's going to be interesting to see what happens there and
