Can the Saints Use Alvin Kamara How the 49ers Use Christian McCaffery?

can the Saints utilize Alvin chra the same way that San Francisco utilizes Christian mcaffrey that is the question today ladies and gentlemen a bit of a different video usually we go to the reactions right we react to a video but today I'm going to the comment section we're going to talk about a topic that popped off uh this week so in a video with Clint kubak Clint kubak was asked about Alvin CRA and can he be used like Christian mcaffrey this started the debate in the comment sections started by my boy Eduardo ladies and gentlemen let me start let me stop let me stop you real quick I love the comments I love reading the comments I love the engagement this is not a channel where you're expected to agree with everything I say disagree with everything I say we're not for hot takes here we're not for any of that stuff we're here to talk ball so I am always happy to talk ball whether it's a opinion that agrees with mine or or otherwise but sometimes it's hard to say everything in a comment so I'll make a video about it so I love it I love it I love it I love it make sure you're going down there commenting this is why this community is so strong so powerful because here we know ball okay so anyways the comment was that they are different the comment was Alvin chra are the point that I want to address is that Alvin CRA is nowhere close to the all-around back that Christian mcaffrey is Christian mcaffrey is better Christian mcaffrey is probably the best running back in the NFL no one is denying that no one is denying that mcaffrey is better than Alvin chimra but what I do disagree with is that they're nowhere near the allaround back as far as the usage the way that Albin Chima should be used is the exact same way that Christian mcaffrey is used now if they're used the exact same way will Alvin Camaro's numbers be the same as Christian mcaffry probably not mcaffry still is the better player but their usage their all-around ability is striking similar so I have on the screen the comparisons of Alvin CRA and Christian mcaffry you can see it behind me here we'll kind of go through it but Alvin has played they play played Seven Seasons Alvin has played 101 games mcaffry has played 91 games so Alvin has a 10 game lead on mcaffrey so if you look at their rushing attempts their yards like their yards uh mcaffry 6185 to 5 uh 5829 yards per Rush 4.8 for mcaffry 4.4 for chimra chimra has 54 touchdowns on the ground and Maca has 52 receptions 5509 to 505 I mean as you can see these numbers are very similar almost the exact same receiving yardage 4320 to 4219 uh yards of reception 8.5 to 8.4 uh receiving touchdowns 29 to 23 really really close like the same usage even the numbers are almost on the nose as far as carry as far as reception now I brought this up cuz I always do and people uh cuz I think chimra does get a bit underrated just because of how he was used in the last couple of years but then obviously it's well mcaffrey there's 10 games of discrepancy you can't look at the blind numbers which I do agree with I mean obviously you can't you can't sit here and say hey um look at this Alvin Cero's got the same amount of receptions it's like well yeah it's 10 games less so I did the math I went out there and extrapolated the numbers and we'll put it on the screen now I put it in this beautiful note here so player a is chimra player B is mcaffrey player C is if you extrapolated the data and gave mcaffrey 10 extra games so it's very simple to do I'm not I'm not splitting the atom here you just go back look at the averages there's 10 game differ so you get the average you times it by 10 then you add it to the existing data point okay so that's how we got all these numers so for example receiving touchdowns you go back and you look at how many touchdowns does mcaffrey get per reception how many receptions does he get per game you add all that up divide it and then times it by the 10 games that he's missing so that's how we got these numbers so player a chimra player B mcaffrey player C mcaffrey if he would have played 101 games the numbers are still close like and again no one is denying who the better player is but the numbers are really close if you look at the receptions and it's another thing too to look at the the big number over the course of Seven Seasons but then you also have to look at the the small number like per game so if you look at like receptions okay so receptions Christian mcaffry over player C he's got 565 receptions now this is over 101 games okay so if you divide 565 by 100 and you get your 5.6 and then you look at chimra and you do the same you're looking at five their receptions per game is over their careers a fake career for mcaffrey and a real career for chimra their receptions are five and 5.6 that is as similar of usage as possible you look at all of this like rushing touchdown yards per carry McCaffrey's averages obviously go down because we're adding more games so yards per carry 4.4 to 4.6 yards per reception 8.4 to 8.4 receptions we just talked about touchdowns mcaffry does have more touchdowns I mean 32 to 23 is you know a lot on in through the air rushing touchdowns 57 to 54 so you're talking about three more but I think I think chimra is utilized more as like a just or has been utilized more as just a straight up downhill Runner than Christian has because Christian has been recently in some very creative uh offenses so the main point here is not that mcaffrey is the same as chimra or that mcaffrey is equal to chimra or that chimra is as good as maaf that's not the argument the argument is they are the same weapon as far as usage as far as how they should be utilized which has been the big problem for the Saints over the course of a couple of years the problem with the Saints since since Sean Payton is left is that you have this you have this kind of a player this threat this allaround running back you have this so why are we not utilizing it we weren't even putting last year we weren't even putting camra on the field on third Downs much less throwing him the ball Jamal Williams was our third down back like that is the crazy part that when you look at this because if you look at this this is raw data if you look at this there is no way to there's no way to slice it other then they are the exact same back as far as how they can be utilized and what they can do their skill set their you know all around all that stuff no doubt about it you cannot look at the you cannot look at these stats and say that they're different you can't look at these stats and say that they're totally different backs or that one is not the all-around back that the other is it's impossible you can you can look at these stats and say one is better but you can't look at these stats and say oh mcaffry is a much much bigger receiving threat than chra because you're talking about again five receptions to 5.6 receptions a game you're talking about the exact same yards per reception a game so but last year and I you know if if you go through P Carmichael's entire time as call in place not only did he ignore Alvin Cero's ability to be in the slot or be a receiver or actually run routes with sha Payton had cimo doing a lot of and Pete Carmichael and Dennis Allen totally avoided that never came out of out of the slot chimra never ran routes downfield chimra was always always catching dump passes out of the back field as like the fourth read if it would drive us crazy so when I would go to the games we obviously bet on a lot of props Camaro's prop like his receiving props would be like four and a half catches a game and we'd always take the over on games that we thought the saints were be losing because the line of thinking is simple where Saints are losing they need to throw if they're if they're going to throw they're going Target their best player which is Alvin CRA okay and it would drive us crazy because he would have zero catches going into the fourth quarter and then in like the hurry up offense he he'd gobble up like eight catches on two drives and it's like why are we waiting why are we waiting to utilize our our best receiving asset really our most our most dangerous player why are we waiting to utilize him when the game's already Out Of Reach or we're in a two-minute warning we should be proactive he should be running routes like with Shawn Peyton I'm sure you couldn't remember CRA was running like deep post routes he was running like deep post out like like the wheel routes he'd come out of the back field do like a wheel route take a linebacker Straight to Hell and catch the ball 20 yards down the field you know it doesn't all have to be screens it doesn't all have to be dump passes it doesn't all have to be hey you know I'm going to make three reads and then if it's not there I'm going to dump camra the ball and then see what he can do in space like that does work sometime sure but that shouldn't be all that you do with a player like this so what I want to see from Clint kubak is I want to see chra revert to that I want to see and I don't care you know that's another thing too we always talk about results I'm not really concerned about well I want to see Alvin CRA be put up these kind of numbers or I want to see Alan CRA win the MVP or I want to see him have the most catches in the NFL or any of that stuff I just want to see the philosophy I just want to see him running routes I just want to see him being used proactively in the passing game I want to see him on on the field on third down I want to see him getting the ball in space like that's what I want to see and if I see that philosophy and I see Clint kubak start to do that and I see Clint kubak understanding like okay this is a big- Time asset let's move him around I'll tell you this right now first game if I'm sitting there with a couple Dome dogs couple couple crowned Sprites if I'm sitting there and I see Alvin C like motion out into the slot and run a route even if he doesn't catch the ball I'm going to be I'm going to be the happiest person there I'm going to be the happiest person in the stadium he could have he could have no he could have zero impact on that play but just watching him move around just watching him trying and get in mismatches and trying you know run the ball here catch the ball here run a route here screen here when you think about mcaffrey like you think about how San Francisco has used mcaffrey he is the engine to that team he is the engine to the offense and whether it's a screen whether it's him moving around to to take the defense away from somebody else whether it's him you know running up the seam or running up the sideline to either catch the ball or to take the Defenders he is what makes them go now obviously they have great players all over the place right they have Brandon iuk and George KD and uh Debo Samuel so it's not just Christian mcaffrey but he is the foundation that's where CRA should be he he I don't need him to have 20 catches 20 carries a game but I need him to be the engine the glue the the foundation that allows Chris alve that allows Rashid Shah that allows Bob Means whoever whoever ends up you know contributing that allows them to contribute we that's what I want to see from Clint kubak and Alvin CRA moving forward is it possible like is it is it realistic for me to say I want to see Alvin CRA have the same production as mcaffrey no because over their careers we have the stats right here that that's not he's not his production isn't the same as mcaffrey the team is also worse around it like our offensive line is much worse you know there's other right now there's other circumstances but I'm not concerned about the output I'm not concerned about who's better I'm not concerned about whose numbers are better I'm concerned with the idea the ideology that they will be used the same way which as you can see on paper they can be used the same way so this is a really fun discussion I love this uh you know and again when you post a comment like don't be concerned that it could be a differing opinion I'm always happy to discuss Talk Football Talk ball with the commenters I love it this is you we do reaction videos all the time but I'm all for this which is why we're doing the you surprised at how Alvin has been used compared to Christian mcaffrey over their careers like which one of these numbers is the most shocking I think for me the most shocking is probably the receptions you know the fact that if you look at the receptions because you I you know you think of Christian mcaffry is being the best running back back in the NFL his entire career one of the best every year he's played and you look at C and it's like yeah some years are kind of kind kind of kind of me you know whatever so even through the Ian books and the Trevor simeons and the jamus Winston's and the Andy Dalton and the you know whoever even through that like cra's output or his usage has still held up you know like to to have 5.6 receptions versus five receptions like the the yards per receptions being similar yards per carry being similar all that stuff so th this kind of I knew they were Sim similar obviously but how similar they were surprises me every time I see it so uh it it is something else but ladies and gentlemen I'm recording this on a Wednesday tonight uh or probably when this video goes out the schedule will be released so the full NFL schedule will be released I am planning on doing a full n full Saints schedule breakdown on Thursday so Thursday night's video will be about the schedule so if you're like where James what the hell they're releasing
