The BEST SETTINGS For FPS & Visual Fidelity In LOTRO!

Intro what's going on YouTube and welcome back to the channel I really do hope you guys are well today's video is going to be something a little bit different I've had a couple of requests recently to go over some of the settings and the visual Fidelity options that I use within Lord of the Rings online I just want to make it absolutely clearly apparent that this game is we're under no Illusions here this game is old it prefers more single core technology a lot of the PCS computers laptops that you guys are using to run these games will outperform this game and it just can't keep up so yes from this video you'll get a few more extra FPS um you'll also hopefully get a bit more visual clarity as well if you're expecting massive jumps in performance or FPS games this is probably the wrong video for you so just Vibrancy to start off with something that I like to do just to make the game look a bit more like visually enjoyable is I don't like to go ham with this but I do like to just increase my digital Vibrance this is on the Nvidia control panel I just put up to about 60% it just makes the greenery look Greener everything around you look a little bit more Lush and a bit more enjoyable so next up if you really are struggling with performance in Lord of the Rings online Lotro 3D Settings you can actually come into your 3D settings here go across the program settings and you want to select the lotro client which is here if you haven't got it just click add and then either search in the uh dropdown for it or you can add it into the browser once it's here you can play with a number of settings you can actually override these so the client will basically take these as gospel as opposed to make its own mind up I do recommend switching your power management here to prefer maximum performance that will really kind of divert as much energy um from your PC towards this game to kind of prioritize the functions and the performance of lotro if for whatever reason you are running a newer PC and the game is not picking up your GPU and you're having issues there this is where you can go in and manually select What GPU you want it to run by you've got options for low latency mode you can set up the maximum frame rate so for whatever reason if you've got any of these limited then obviously turn them off that will help you a lot it really will help you a lot Power Settings so next up might seem really simple but for whatever reason if you're running your PC on some sort of efficiency setting whether it be on eco or balanced I would recommend changing that over to Performance mode you can see here I've got the Asus set in here this will allow your PC to run at its most efficient and Powerful State at all times so certain resources aren't being sapped from others just to save some energ because who cares about the planet right okay Client Settings next up we're actually in the lotro client if you go ahead and if we just cancel this off for a sec if you click on the drop down here go into options and you'll bring up this separate window here what I would suggest is going onto the general Tab and just making sure you've got a couple of things selected it actually surprises me how many people this catches off guard but a lot of people still have the game client set at 32bit rather than 64 it should Now set 64 as default but if you are someone who's had this game installed for a little while then 32 may still be selected now from this you're not going to gain hundreds of course of FPS but there is quite a noticeable difference between running the game client on 32-bit and 64-bit in terms of FPS not only that it is a more stable client to run as well you'll probably find if you're experiencing any crashes stutters over and above the usual then you've probably got it set in 32-bit mode so just be sure to switch that over now this setting is never person bothered me but if you are one of the people that accidentally clicks into things or if you logged in twice then you can untick this to stop you running more than one instance of lotro at one time obviously that's going to have a massive massive impact on your performance so just make sure you're not doing that sounds crazy but I'm sure there's people out there that have done it a big one for me that I turned off straight away was keeping the launcher open when the game is open that is just another resource that you're spending on your PC when it could be put to better use so just tick that off as soon as you load the game the launcher will close all right once you Task Manager Settings got the game running and the client open come into your task manager click on details right click on lotro client and you can see that you can actually set the process priority of the game as well so if you are still struggling you want to chip away at some extra frames set it to High real time above normal and that will give you a bit of an extra boost towards the game as well um personally on my system it runs fine so I've got no need to do that but just bear in mind that you can do that okay so jumping In Game Settings into the settings of the client itself you can see here that my settings I'm not going to go through each one of these individually with you guys CU you don't need me to read out what's in front of you but for the most part in terms of Graphics Hardware level a lot of this should be predetermined at the maximum setting when you log into Lord of the Rings online I don't believe there are many PCs out there now that it wouldn't select these sort of graphic settings but I'm currently running this on Direct X1 Graphics quality you can set it as custom drop a few things down because I make a lot of content I'm recording quite a lot of the time I Run the game in full screen windowed it runs perfectly fine for me but if you are struggling with the odd frame drop here and there obviously running it in full screen at the correct resolution will give you the best performance possible aspect ratio I leave mine on auto antialiasing is a big one for a lot of people if you are running a slightly older system this setting right here can really really screw up the performance of your game luckily I'm okay running mine on eight but if you need to drop it down or disable it feel free it will make game look a little bit more Jagged but at the same time if I'd rather look a little bit more Jagged and be able to kind of get where I need to get to rather than the latter coloring is a bit of an interesting one so the color settings here I personally tend to whack ambient lighting up a little bit just because I like to be able to obviously see where I'm going I'm old and like bold as so I really struggled to kind of see things um a lot of this you can adjust on your monitor though over and above just in the game and the little vibrancy setting that we referred to at the start of the video will help quite a lot as well what's up dude Graphics this is probably going to be a lot of common sense stuff really um but I kind of want to just go over and sort of highlight I guess the things I tend to avoid the most or I would avoid if I was struggling for performance you'll find that in Lord of the Rings Online texturing has quite a big impact on the performance of the game so if you were personally struggling and you needed a few more FPS here and there I would consider dropping down the filter quality of the texture filtering um obviously drop the slider down from 16 to maybe 8 and just see how you get on from there now one of the more major settings I've always left unticked is this dx10 distant landscape lighting for whatever reason doesn't matter what system I've ever been on this has always slowed my performance down drastically um at least compared to the gains that you get through it I didn't really notice a massive difference in some instances it can crash the game as well so I've always just left it off blob shadows as well obviously I personally tend to just leave them off I'd like the Shadows to look as realistic as I can uh but really they're kind of the only settings that I super mess with Bloom I'm really not that fast about truthfully um I guess what you could really pay attention to if you wanted to get a bit more performance out is the player crowd quality here and the texture cache size fresh rate for the most part you can just leave as automatic Ian I've got a 240 HZ monitor so I sort of chop and change between automatic and 24 hurts but that's totally up to you I find that sinking to refresh rate and triple buffering just brings this game to a grinding hole it is horrible the latency is just ridiculous so um yeah in a game with that's got natural lag I really don't recommend picking any of those boxes whatsoever now some other elements of the settings that can be quite taxy on performance is Shadows if you are wanting to get really truly get the most out of your performance I would recommend dropping some of these Shadows down to at least sort of medium you can turn them off all together it's totally up to you but it depends of how immersed you want to be within the game itself lastly just to finish up which is probably a bit of a less own fact the landscape draw distance in most games doesn't really make too much of a difference purely because a lot of the Landscapes that you can see and travel to they're not really that that grand but in lotro considering the client and the engine this game is based off of the landscape is huge so if you are struggling for performance I would recommend even just turning this down slightly Maybe even just dropping it down to high and you should notice you'll get a few more FPS just from that and then to finish up just to add to a bit more vibrancy it won't let me do it now because I'm in Window mode you can go ahead and adjust the contrast a little bit not massively you don't want it to be too orange but it will add a nicer sort of warmer tone to some of the areas as well and you can adjust this on the Fly that's totally up to you hopefully this video has been somewhat helpful like I said at the start it's not going to solve all of your wos worries and performance issues but hopefully there's a few settings there that you've potentially overlooked or um not really had selected at all if you
