Week 1 Fantasy Football Waivers and Streamers

scheduling sometimes I will have a guest sometimes I won't and it'll just be good old meanie as we love and know but try not to pull them into this podcast a billion times we we know I know you do I I think most people love us together rightfully so but give you a few meanie does a ton of stuff over at fdn too hockey is coming before you know it and if you want some yes great hockey advice he is one of if not the best I will say but it is waivers it is week one we might have overreactions before the season even started Chris meanie because drafts are done now to be fair like we talk waivers last year uh well there's two things so last year how about these names pukaa kairon Williams Rashid rice Nico Collins yes Nico Collins to go further down a list of Gus Edwards Devin single ter zamir white like all these names these names I'm saying were in week one of last year and of course the immediate tongue and cheek push back I get was like well when you have 50 names of course you're going to have everybody no we have 50 names because we go deeper and a lot of those names were way up the ranks inside the top 10 or top 12 because of their potential this is the biggest thing I say every single year me when you get to your last two or three spots on your bench obviously your first two or three spots probably semi starters in like a Brandon Cooks range which you could even argue might be droppable but those last two or three spots should be hail marus for all intensive purpose it should be chasing the theas it should be chasing the Kiren Williams I had somebody who said why isn't Demario Douglas in your waiver colum you know how I feel about Demario Douglas de Mario coming from Liberty love the guy I want to see him do well but what's his ceiling we just I think we just saw his ceiling last year even though he a rookie but as a wide receiver four volume dependent now you have Jaylen pulk Kendrick Bourne is healthy G to at some point tawon Thorton's back in the mix like there's just where does Douglas go up where he's always going to be waiver level and that's why I'm like I'm not excited about those guys I'm not excited about guys who are capped out to basically best case scenario be your Flex option no it makes a lot of sense and KJ Osborne's another guy that just you know it's not that we're excited but he's just a guy that's maybe like it's just it's going to be a a very bad football team in a long year there but I think you know it makes sense the home run plays the next man up right um we've had that conversation so many times I know you cover it at the athletic next man up right it's you know just getting ahead of it and getting ahead of those big Fab pickups because you know it's going to happen week one week two uh you hope it doesn't but if there's some sort of significant running back injury like we've seen all of a sudden you know Jerome Ford cam acres is in the dock Ken Williams so yeah there's a few running backs and the way that I construct my squads I am not looking for that sixth or seventh wide receiver on my team I'm pretty happy with the first few wide receivers I have and I'm just looking for home run plays and and stashing running backs yeah so as we talk through waivers going to kind of touch on that real quick so I put streaming quarterbacks in there let's just get this out of the way like you're not streaming a quarter back week one I mean maybe you're in super flexx I could see that but again if even if you're in super Flex unless you're in like a eight team super Flex they're all on teams anyway but yeah because of that so the list for streaming quarterbacks goes all the way from Baker Mayfield and goino Smith all the way down to Derek Carr and Bryce young is there a name outside of will Levis because if anybody listen to their off season we have a lot of excitement for the potential of will Levis could bust but the potential of being with Brian Callahan the potential of that offense that's built around him now a lot of talent a lot of changes there but we're excited for will Lis is there a name from this list that stands out to you saying you know what I'm not streaming in week one but maybe I'll grab because I'm in a 12 14 Team league our benches are deep I will need for a buy but this is maybe like maybe I'll find one that pops off like will will Levis and maybe I find an answer going forward that ends up being better than who I have like if I waited on a quarterback and I'm not saying look I have Brock p a top 12 quarterback but if Brock perk fell off like and then there's a so is there a name in this list that you'll be like you know what if I have a spot if I have room I'll stash him yeah I mean yeah apart from will Levis I'd say like Baker Baker was pretty good towards the end of last season um like he had some really nice games and he starts off against Washington like I could see and without trying to get too cute week one like Brock against the Jets or Rogers against the kn I can see myself maybe going another way um like even Jared gof in a lot of my leagues I made as my last pick even though I I took like maybe love in the middle rounds I'd rather play gof in a dome against the Rams in a potential shootout than maybe love in Brazil against the Eagles which just could be um you know just a weird game in general but Baker against Washington and he's somebody that you may just find holding uh because they don't really have a great run game you got you know obviously Evans and Godwin Rashad white catching balls out of the back field so I not sure the matchups after but I know the division is fairly uh weak and getable Gino is Gino is interesting too just because um I'm kind of intrigued with the offense and Ryan grub and you know using the threee wide receivers and um some other dudes that are getting some talk up like no a fan I'm not crazy about but you know getting him more involved so th those two and then I know you don't want to hear it but like maybe just Daniel Jones like from a a rushing standpoint more so maybe the one I was going to say keep going sorry go go finish finish your Dre no that's it just like more in a in a rushing I don't I'm not really uh interested in anybody else maybe May you're not stashing mu two things one is you didn't say the name that I can't believe I'm gonna say sam darn no Sam Dar Nick mulles threw 300 yards in three to the four games under Kevin oconnell Justin Jefferson the Vikings offense like again I'm not thinking that Sam like I'm not a Sam darnold fan I wasn't a Sam when he came out of college Sam darnold fan and yet Nick Mullins and I do think Sam darn is a better quarterback than too didn't he have Joshua had some he did that's why I stashed jiren Hull in a super Flex last year just let go of him too did you oh they did no they did yeah I saw that they did so I will say this uh my home League there's it's anecdotal but just stick with me for a second here if anybody from my home league is listening they're going to now find out I lied during in the draft here's why so we're down to the endgame uh apparently everybody was thinking the same thing with J.J McCarthy because it's a keeper league so everybody was thinking like oo four five six bucks I can keep him next year in a super Flex being healthy so like that kind of happened but we're also in the range of you know backup quarterbacks Drake May uh ones that don't have jobs you know three four five bucks because you're taking that shot so we're down to the end and I have two I had my quarterbacks were Jaden Daniels and Caleb Williams and I threw out Daniel Jo now mind you I have $4 right so there's still a few I think there's like one or two other quarterbacks out there I mean we're talking like the dredges of the quarterbacks at this point but I could have thrown out one or two bucks try to get but it was my last I had one roster spot I was going to go get a quarterback might as well throw all four so I threw out the four and crickets and I got them I was like and then I was like damn it even though I really wanted him I played it off like I didn't like I was like like I can't believe you guys let me have Daniel Jones I hate the guy I was like and then I was like the reason I threw out four is because I figured if I threw out four it's going to look like I really want him but if I threw it out for two then you might like try and like bid me like so like you would stick me with him for two even though I had $2 left on top of it and everybody's like ha and I was like actually in my mind I'm like I'm just playing off the fact I really want to D the but for four bucks is your third quarterback in superflex it's it's a massive it's a massive win yeah and he uh I even young I'm not super excited but but young and bonick and darnold and uh Daniel Jones are our quarterbacks that are good threes and you've been get you can get for a couple bucks we've said so many times I mean if anybody is still drafting super Flex I mean you have to leave with at least three quarterbacks like just things are going to happen and you just won't be able to compete you don't want to be that guy or girl in your league where you just have one uh and you're just you're scrambling it's it's not fun oh can I ask you a question real quick for everybody out there that's playing on sleeper did you see their new addition this year where you can declare a replacement player oh yeah so for everybody voted against all of that did you like we like our league was kind of like yeah eh whatever sure fine so what it is is you declare a replacement player If your player doesn't play so like chrisan mcaffry which we're going to talk about by the way let's just throw it out there Christ mcaffrey brenon iuk Trent Williams they're all there they're all fine new contracts waited all this time Panic for nothing I know it must be nice but Chris mcaffrey plays Monday night and banged up questionable missing practice so you say on Sunday this is who I replace him with if he doesn't play if Christian mcaf mcaffrey plays one snap he's your starter he has to be inactive like he cannot step on the field bejan Robinson last year that wasn't inactive like bejon Robinson wouldn't have been replaced it's only if they're inactive with like a Sunday Monday night scenario so how many times do come going to come into play me maybe twice which is why we were fine because we kind of treated it like oh it's the co situation so yeah I I I dig I dig that I like it I think what what they originally like there was a discussion in one of my Dynasty leagues that originally when they came out with the rule you could swap like Thursday and Sunday or Thursday and Monday I just thought that was like there was too many days between that I just felt like I like the Sunday Monday thing just feel like you know Thursday to Monday I don't know there was it's a long there's an option to change it too you can change days they play and it has to be also you can't change after like you can't be like on Sunday like oh Zach Moss scored two touchdowns he's my replacement in yeah yeah you can't do that and I think they got some push back on that Thursday so they were able to make some adjustments so it it is good it's you know um you know things happen and Sunday mornings are busy for some people outside of football right so uh injuries could happen and it just makes the league I think competitive and kind of keeps everybody in it and you only get one it's not like you can be like yeah here's all my backup plans my bench no it's it's cool it's just play baset I dig what they're doing they're trying to make it you know just keep everybody in it and that's what it's all about all right so let's talk some more waivers uh and let's get into running backs and I think the biggest one so off the top I have two there are over 60% rostered on Yahoo for everybody the article reference will always be 60% on Yahoo that over the course of my career seems to best be the barometer like CBS more aggressive because the people playing on CBS they're still like the die hards like if you're still on there like it's an older system so if you still like playing on there you've been playing for so their percentages are higher espan is the opposite more casual and you get a lot of people who just draft and forget or stop playing or it's not even active leagues so their percentages are a lot lower Yahoo has always been the happy medium ground would use sleeper but they don't makeing it easy like I want to go somewhere and sleeper just give me the list it's like they don't like oh gosh I love you sleeper but it's like at the same time you kind of it's almost like you're intentionally making things difficult you're Apple you're like you're intentionally trying to like make things there's a lot that I like go sleeper that's one of them and then don't get me started on like messaging and DMS because I just don't oh CU you get the alert on your phone and you're like you're digging through seven different spots to find out where the message was like where did that message go I don't understand it I still it's still like can't find certain messages that I've been looking for for weeks you can get like alerts for like somebody highlighted your player or something like that and then just like there's yeah exactly all right so the two running backs that are over 60% but not by much is chuba hubard which I covered and said stop he's the starter yes Jonathan Brooks at some point but he's the star starter there's no way even a 10 Team league hubard should be sitting out there also Blake km not just because of the Kyan punt we've covered this on the podcast so you know this if you're listening and it's in the article now but the concern has always been corm can steal some goal line work and then if Kiren has two or three bad games the swaps coming so starting the list and this is the one that get the big question about SM P Ryan is with the Chiefs we talked about the news on this podcast in case you missed it he is the number one pickup at running back for me because there's an added Lev level to this that we didn't talk about because it broke over the weekend since the last time you and I talked meanie is we like the perine upside I kept telling people during my draft that I I referenced something I joked with you about and you said he catches 90% of his balls in reference to Pacho and I joked back and I said which running back are you talking about because perine does the same and I have concerns that perine slightly dings peo still in rb1 but now he's low in rb1 where I had him about eight or nine but all that being said the Bro the breaking news we got over the weekend was they brought in Josh Jacobs offered him a potential deal and there was like the Giants um obviously the Packers and there a few other teams were listed among teams that like went after Jacobs when you see the Chiefs went after Jacobs did they like make you sick to your stomach as like a PCO manager and say like you know what maybe I should be more concerned than I am yeah like that's uh that blew my mind uh to hear that because I mean watching peo run between the tackles and look pretty good over the past couple of years right so uh interesting to hear that and I I think that Pine should be at the top of your your rankings I think he should be owned in every PPR format I think um he's again he's probably hanging around most formats 10 teams hard to fit him in your you know your lineup and your roster but I think he's gonna have I think he's gonna have a role and I think you could just go back and look at Jerick McKennon over the past couple of Seasons I know last year he was limited I think he only played like 12 games but he still caught 20 some odd balls and then two years ago he had nine receiving touchdowns like nine receiving touchdowns is is significant I don't think that perine's gonna get that but third down stuff he's probably gonna come in and spell Pacho um any may be second and long red don't Red Zone packages you know they do weird things in the Red Zone you know this with the Chiefs they have fun in the Red Zone they're doing all kinds of different things and uh I just remember seeing McKennon on the field in Red Zone packages quite often over the past couple years so he may even just be a man we may get into week five or six with buys annoyance is one thing for peo sure um I would expect him to get most of the Red Zone touches but should they decide to pass in there uh it may be per and we I'd just say we may find like come week five or six when we get into buys that P may be a guy that we're plugging in like as a as a flex flight or at least like he's going to be a guy that I'm going to meet thinking about in the betting Market if I see like a one and a half catch or n and a half receiving yard prop like I I just feel like he's be evolved I I sold M kin in one short in my mind I was like that was eight receiving touchdowns wasn't it it was nine receiving touchdowns in and they all came like in a row at the end of the season I didn't even think he got a couple in the playoffs like he just went on a ride it was every week 2022 let's see it was uh one two one one21 yeah from weeks 13 through 18 all of them but one the other touchdown was in week two that year and then I think in the playoff he had a rushing touchdown against he had a rushing touchdown against the Texans no not in that playoffs not that year he went he disappeared in the playoffs play Andy Reed has his jerck McKennon it was the year before that yeah all right so then let me ask you this which is that so now I have two sets of running back rankings in the column the rankings the first set is this is who I would pick up in the order I pick up it's trying to balance I'm always shoot for ceiling but it's also trying to balance a little bit of possible production like at the top perine alir JK Dobbins Bucky Irving people who are involved but also ceiling also cealing if they end up being the lead guy and the other one gets hurt and then you get down to like jayen right arguably has one of the highest ceilings but he's got to get past an injury to just get in the mix let alone potentially and then you go all the way down to Jordan Mason at 17 who's essentially a zero Factor like you're never playing Jordan Mason even if he happens to fall into the End Zone on a you know they're dominating somebody and Christian mcaffry doesn't play the fourth quarter you're never going to know you're never going to be able to say I'm starting Jordan Mason to hope that he gets a touchdown but at 17 that's why because he essentially has zero value unless Christian mcaffry gets hurt and then obviously if Christian mcaffry got hurt today Jordan Mason would be number one so I bring that up to say this because perine's number one because a lot of people drafted even before perine happened so unless you've drafted within the past 10 days or so that's not an issue for you but I've got a lot of would you drop Mason for perine and I'm not being mean to start the season I'm not believe like read the rankings it says the order I picked them up I think it's a because I also think that's a valid question it's like you see the ranks and then if you scroll down to purely next man up so basically that second list in my waiver column are if the person in front gets hurt this is how I would rank these next 22 like all 22 are ranked as if the person in front of him got hurt Mason's still number two only because I have a slight concern of whether it's greno if not healthy it's somebody else that is just Shanahan and he can make everybody great whereas if something happened to peo I fully believe it's all perine so would you drop if it's the only person you could possibly drop would you drop Mason for perine I know obviously try to make a trade try to free up a spot blah blah blah but would you go perine over Mesa in a vacuum yeah yeah I agree with what you have there um the only way that I would keep Mason is if I had CMC and I know we've had a discussion before about handcuffs but that is one where I it's different once you've drafted you've invested in CMC yeah and you've already drafted you see him on the waiver wire you've invested that top pick in Christian mcaffrey it's the offense chanan everything that you just mentioned there so um I I I think that he is a he's he's probably a must own guy if you had Christian mcaffrey and you were just looking like again you have brillan Allen or ton Gibson or Surman and Tracy like Ray Davis I would just pick up Mason if I was a CMC owner and just have that San Fran backfield wrapped up uh but I would rather have pery if because again I feel like you just said it earlier like you can't start Mason unless something happens to CMC right I'm pretty sure with confidence that you're going to be able to start per r at times in a pinch uh again just hoping for a few catches and he's going to get some touches it may not happen this Thursday he's going to be active but um he's going to get some touches he's going to be involved in the offense because of what we just talked about with McKennon so I would prefer him over Mason okay so let's play a little game and let's play a little game of Mason ore so like would you if you're to last spot on your roster would you keep Mason or would you Dr No again like Drop is relative at this point so I don't want to say would you drop Mason 4 because if it's a wash situation situation which a lot of times I say wash trades are like don't you like a wash trade why do it if you really want want to cuz you like the player like that's fine but like a lot of times it's like you're like I'll give you an example somebody was like um it wasn't even P Ry and Mason it was pery and I want to say it was like Bucky Irving or somebody like that and I'm like you're just chasing whoever gets hurt first like they're both they're going to be sprinkled in but nothing's here to say that one's going to get hurt before the other or even like a Blake Corum where I mean you could argue also but all three of them could come into play if the first starts to falter but like that's what I'm saying you're swapping so let's let say drop we just say if you're going down who you would pick up first Mason or and that's what we're doing me so back at the top we already said pery I'm assuming alir right you're taking alir over because you could actually potentially use it y you can play them JK Dobbins yes yes yes okay Bucky Irving yes yes M Walkin yes yep okay here's where I think it starts to get to a conversation now the Cowboys plural dowle and cook and see how it shakes out in week one or Mason I'm taking both we we had this conversation last week I have them at six and seven I think they could both immediately be drops after week one for the hot name but I at least want to see what happens in week one yeah same so do I uh I think I'm coming around on Rico um I'm thinking lately that maybe Zeke just looks so bad that they brought in Dalvin U but yeah I'd rather have the Cowboys backs again I think that you can play them uh maybe we'll find out that one is ahead of the others by week two or three but yeah I'd rather the Cowboys ma could be gross shanet who people went from so excited for shanet last year to kind of a disappointing rookie season but he was banged up too and now people are like no don't want shanet anymore yeah like he's he's a good back and and maybe a new regime in there maybe it's new life for him I know he was just just year two here so I would I would keep him he's kind of on the borderline of you feel like you can't start him but but maybe maybe with the new offense that he gets more touches and he turns up I'll lean with him do you know how many double digit games Shan had last year in terms of carries no double scores sorry oh scores um man maybe like just a couple there was a stretch where Walker was hurt and I don't think he was all that good I I'll say like two zero zero yeah I didn't think I was actually a little surprised I was you I was thinking like one or two there was again there was a couple weeks there at least one week for sure where Walker wasn't there and he had an opportunity and he didn't he didn't look all that great and I think like people are immediately out on him there's a oh no I lied you're right it was one well not you're right there was one oh there's one game I don't yeah against Dallas 19 for 60 3.2 yards per carry it was Dallas that would have been the game that 19 carries that would have been Walker would have been out for that one yeah the two games before that 15 and 15 now to be fair also at Rams San Francisco at home 15 for 47 14 for 47 he also didn't get the best possible situation to to show remember him I actually now I remember you and I chatting about him getting an opportunity but guess what it was against the the Niners so have fun with that yeah he legit went through a four game stretch where he had to go to Los Angeles against the Rams so he had Washington which he wasn't the option at that point so got 6 for 44 against Washington and there he go like okay cool and then it's like oh you get your opportunity buddy good luck because it's at Rams 49ers at Dallas at 49ers Philly at home sucks to be you yeah uh at least you got some touches but welcome that's a welcome to the NFL moment yes all right so now it's I think even more questional where we're in a Range I like I wish maybe I should I put like a line inside my ranks for tear that they're in the waiver ranks because now I legit if you want to push back on any of these I'm not going to be like no you're dumb that's the point we're at now like I would definitively take my top eight I'm still taking the next 1 two 3 seven but if you want to push back I'm fine Antonio Gibson and this is where like I think you could get weekly value for Antonio Gibson and then Stevenson hasn't been the epitome of health and people seem to have forgotten Antonio Gibson was putting putting up top 15 running back numbers when he was the guy I think that's possibly out the window at this point of his career but look at the depth chart for the Patriots it's a gross offense but you tell me if Stevenson got hurt in week one Gibson want to be in store for 15 plus touches yeah and he can catch right that's something that we know right converted wide receiver to to back and I I've been wondering how New England may use him like maybe both guys in the field at the same time if if none of these like average wide receivers can step up you know what I mean like we just talked about New England's room like maybe they just use both of these guys in some two running back sets or we know that they're going to be playing from behind I I would hit the under on the four and a half win so Gibson's maybe getting four or five catches a game and if you're getting four or five catches a game again that's four or five more touches than Mason's going to get so you can put him in it's gross it feels nasty but again things are going to happen you're going to want to have some some guys in roles and I think he already has one and you just said could grow larger so I would say Antonio Gibson when did we when did we decide that Drake May was starting by the way I feel like did we say week six home after the buy was there a Buy in there no there buy is week 14 okay defin there was a tough stretch that I thought you rattled off on the XM show it doesn't lighten up really for the Patriots which is part of the other reason I'm taking the under on the WIS but it's at Cincinnati to start home against Seattle but then at Jets at San Francisco so May's essentially for all of purposes not starting the first four games but then they come home for the Dolphins for the Texans oh this is where we figured it out week seven because it's home against Jacksonville but it's overseas oh it's yeah it's in London and then home to the Jets and then at Tennessee at Chicago home to the Rams at Miami home to the C like this schedule is not very forgiving at all that's probably what Mayo was thinking too like I know he wants to be optimistic and he wants to give his overall pick and some starts and you want to have him play but at the same time the rush what's the rush here yeah there they are going to be dogs in every single game that's a very very tough are you taking the Bengals in week one Survivor I I think so it's a huge spread I I think that it the nine and a half from a betting standpoint may be a trap but I'm G to yeah I'm going to lean with them winning there some weird things happening in Cincinnati right now if if Jamar Chase is not playing a week one do still take the Bengals um probably but like I'm looking elsewhere like there's not a buffalo arizal Buffalo's in Play I Don't Like You your hesitation right there is like we don't know what this Josh Allen offense is going to look like with no Stefon Diggs I mean there's a lot of questions there which we got to get to wide receiver waivers so we can talk about that but they're in play but I think the other two that people I I seem to see is the Seahawks and for Denver yeah yeah over Denver I think that but of course this is Shawn pton B Nick so what you that's always POS and then the Saints seem to be in play by a lot of people at home Carina one I would that one would scare me because one would because the division and I think Carolina's like I don't want to call them a sneaky defense but I actually think like it may be okay where it keeps them in some games and I I the Saints should pull away but actually like from a betting standpoint I kind of lean like Carolina Plus four and a half or plus five or whatever that line was earlier I just feel like yeah division games I don't know man they kind of they kind of scare me I would sweat the one without I would sweat out Seattle before that one if you have a double strike do you get riskier in week one or do you try to still stay conservative I like to get risky actually yeah if I have a double strike give me the TX over the Colts let me sweat that no so I have two double strikes these are the two teams I'm taking in my double strikes Minnesota on the road it's the only CH look at Minnesota it's the only chance like and it's I know it's a road game but it's the only chance on the Minnesota schedule where you're like you know what I can cuz Minnesota on paper again that offense on could be Difference Maker but on paper you're like Minnesota's probably going to be dogs in most of their games yeah and then the other one is Tampa Bay home against Washington because Washington still has no defense so that one yeah and Jaden Daniel's first game yeah I could get you know rookie quarterbacks in week one are like one and three this past couple seasons so straight up think the I even think the Titans might go into Chicago and surprise some people so don't pick the bears oh I don't like the people a lot of people were picking the Bears anyway back to we just pivoted off of that uh Tai Chandler would you take Ty Chandler or Jordan Mason I would take Tai Chandler I think he is another guy that I think is is gonna have a role yeah regardless Health Dylan L I think because he could be JD mckisic and I could see the Raiders passing a lot would take him as of today yeah he's certainly if you would have said Madison I would have said nah um on that one and I would go with L yeah you think he can have a roll a third down roll right away he's the pass catching guy there I'm legitimately concerned about yeah zamir white in the passing game and then if they're throwing a lot all right so Jaylen Wright we already brought up so would you take Jaylen W because okay yeah I just that ceiling man I'm shooting for that Home Run play with him like achan was that play last year you know what I mean so maybe it's right this year so how about these rookie backups Ray Davis Marshon Lloyd Tyrone Tracy any all none of the three uh Lloyd Lloyd yeah Dylan's Dylan's gone for the season Jacobs has been pretty solid like durable it does seem like he plays through some things though like it doesn't it it does seem like he's like questionable with shoulders or knees or something like every week buten the floor in college or no at home they growing up yeah yeah at home he but he is uh man he's a tough back but still like that offense and Lloyd don't you think Lloyd I for me I think Lloyd is like I think he could be like a bcow back like he could be hey this is a guy that's getting all the touches and some catches should something happen to Jacobs I know he's just a rookie and he's been nicked up too I mean he don't even think he played he hasn't played a whole lot over the past couple years in college but him uh yeah I'd probably lean with all of them I probably lean with uh I should probably lean Mason over Ray Davis just because of Buffalo situation and Josh Allen and still not just give me Mason and who's the third you mentioned that's Tyron Tracy oh yeah I think it's like Antonio Gibson for the Giants and then if they single ter struggles at all it's 50-50 granted it's the Giants offense but again now Tracy's two spots in front of mason so yeah Tracy I can too yeah I could see him being an rb3 and half and full point PPR I could also see him being like oh he's not even Evol just go ahead and drop him and then the last one now behind Mason these are what I think like clear similar backups to Mason where you can't use them unless something happens but if something happens to all of them I would take Mason over bsby I would take bsby or I take Mason over Leonard Fett who's at 19 by the way because he visited the Colts and if he signs with the Colts he's going to be in this backup mix because look at the backfield I told you I I mean how many stinks I do not like Trey Surman um brillan Allen Kenneth G Jamal Williams Trey Surman and Emanuel Wilson who I think would be the answer right now but I don't think that's long so the last one is khil Herbert this one is weird Roshan Johnson's not in the list although you know you could argue he's down there with G well maybe I should add him or not but I mean that you're super deep anyway to the person that's like you have so many names what does it matter um but CLE Herbert looks question mark to still be the two potentially even but like then there's also word that Roshan Johnson could steal passing game work from DeAndre Swift which makes this whole situation cloudy but I put CLE Herbert here as in he's done it before and if Swift gets hurt which has happened at times I think he still like I don't think Roshan Johnson's role changes if Swift gets hurt I think he goes from being the mix with the Swift and then the mix with Herbert so like he just stays so that's why I would take a flyer on Herbert but I could see you taking flyer on Mason yeah there was a somebody you work with I forget his name covers the Bears I heard him join uh Dempsey and Bob Harris on XM and they were talking about the Bears and uh he said that Herbert hadn't had a great camp but he would to be like the next guy up uh yeah maybe um maybe I'm not 100% sure on that he was saying like yeah I mean he was talking about how he was excited for the article at the athletic where they had to give a sleeper and stuff like that so maybe if it was him when he was rolling through all the beat reporters and give their fantasy sleepers uh but he's just said like Roshan probably just has that third down rule if anything like they like him as a pass catching back but um Herbert as like that next man the lead and could like in terms of carries like the lead over Roshan but also we've seen Swift struggle near the goal line so there's a world where maybe they lean Herbert or somebody else uh over Swift should he struggle near the goal line which seen again so that's what I was thinking of all right so let's talk wide receivers right off the bat on wide receivers sorry for sucking my teeth there that probably didn't sound good in your podcast but uh we wire wide receivers these two are barely over 60% as well Keon Coleman we're going to talk about the bills we've had that conversation many times as much as I can like khil Shakir which we'll talk about in a second Keon Coleman if he led the team in touchdowns I would not be shocked the other was Tyler Lockett who said he's feeling much better as of today while we're doing this podcast yeah and I'm not ready to write off Tyler Lockett yes he was a wide receiver four and points per game and yet last year was the first time that he really hasn't come through and Smith and jigler could just push him to the number three rooll but again if we're excited about Smith and jiga because we don't care what happens with this the pecking order then I still care about Ty Lockett even if he falls to three just because I'm not ready to write him off yet if we came out in week one and similar to the adun situation and similar to jsn last year if lock get's right back to being two on two wide receiver sets that's my concern like if he's out there and Smith and jiga comes off the field people are going to be like man I should have still kept locket like I'm just not ready to bury him yet we could be burying him week to he could be in dumpsville but we're not there yet so number one I'll give you my top five because I think there's a case for all of them but I'll give you my top five and see if you agree with me with number one because my top five go Joshua Palmer Mike Williams for the Jets Romeo dos khil Shakir and Adonai Mitchell I have a feeling at least for me you're probably going to agree but also if I could put in another line it would be Palmer William and then the rest like I think those are the clear two do you agree with me yeah um I really like dubs you know this uh he's my favorite Packers wide receiver uh but yeah Palmer I mean he's he's the one on his own team most likely like as much as we like lad he is a rookie and Palmer is the only guy that's caught passes from Justin Herbert before like everybody I mean Quinton Johnson sure like what a couple but everybody else I don't know if CAU any of those think you what like he was actually balling out towards the end of the season and I believe Herbert was hurt so he you know what's insane hold on you know what's insane Quinton Johnston had a lower drop percentage than Keenan Allen I just you're laugh let that sink in for a second because I I compared it to Eric Ebron is that it wasn't just the drops it's when they happened it was like a 40 yard play he left it on the field that touchdown he left it on the field they were magnified because of two reasons people wanted Quinton Johnston to show off his talent and then two it was just always like the worst possible situations it wasn't like oh a 13 yard sideline boundary 50/50 ball he drops it like no these were like oh dude it's in your bread basket you're about to score a touchdown dropped that's insane to think about like to say that he had a higher or a lower drop percentage than Keenan Allen so like we we joke about the drops but it's not as bad as people make it out to be no it's not and it's it's magnified it's you see it in Camp and and things like that and people are you know first round pick first round Talent ahead of a flowers people you know like you know they expect him to be better worse too did that all kind of bigs and again I'm not ready to to write him off but it does seem like wasn't cordal Patterson like a first round pick years ago and he was fairly raw you know was a route Runner and then he turned to be fair I have 32 wide receivers and Quinton Johnston did not make the list didn't like so it's it's a rough go yeah so Palmer I think you know I I think week one we're talking about Palmer like hey he led the team in targets he had eight targets he had five or six grabs he led the team in receiving yards maybe he scored a touchdowns against the Raiders just like you can't yeah he's the wide receiver one on and the quote unquote experienced guy on the squad even though CH is there so I I would say him for one and you and I have been on the same page with Mike Williams all year long and it doesn't seem like anyone's really coming around on him like no even with him being available week one uh he is uh still not picked up he's still uh his ADP I know a lot of people wait this week to draft a ton I looked at high stakes yesterday and best bow and he's still you know in the 50s so again what we have seen from him when he is healthy and he is on the field he is an asset and his ceiling is is top 25 which you alluded to in your article so it's something that doesn't is not going to cost you anything like what we talked earlier why you hold like why would you hold Romeo dubs ahead of Mike Williams or not Romeo R deio Douglas why would you hold dearo Douglas ahead of Mike Williams why wouldn't you just pick up you know a guy who has had a thousand yards before and is aou guy who's a top 25 wide receiver when healthy like it's it's not like has been at times no like he's a top 25 wide receiver when healthy's no question yeah he's be the number two option rers I I have dobs at three and I continue to say like okay we've also discussed this could be by the cake not the icing this could be a committee wide receiver we could legit see where we're talking about snap counts with pass with dropbacks but also the preseason we talk about first team dropbacks well let's now talk it's the NFL season just pure dropbacks to throw passing Downs route run percentage obviously most number ones are at 100% maybe 98 because they came off for one play the number twos are usually 90 plus per. that's what we're chasing if you told me they're all healthy and nobody topped 80 yeah I wouldn't be shocked because like I could see that like they have them at their disposal and there's a lot of arguments out there which I'm part of where if you told me everybody hit their ceiling I actually think Wix is the best talent all around too but he's fourth and if you read what's going on with beat reporters practices First Team dropbacks all that type of stuff the pecking order as of today is Watson dobs one two then Reed as the three working a lot of slot dos sometimes too and then Wicks the four unfortunately but that's what it is as of today so I'm chasing as of today I'm with you I'm chasing dobs who also happens to be if you bring up the whole Aaron Rogers and who he likes to go to well dobs is the love I said this to on Sir XM yesterday I said this at at 9:00 a.m. a lot of people might have been sleeping or getting ready for cookouts on Labor Day but I said this to Dane is a lot of Watson's production too that people remember and get excited about was with Rogers not love over a four game stretch yes he scored seven touchdowns over four or five games and I think for me heading into last season I expected Christian Watson and he is when you look at all of those guys like who's the Deep threat guy on that team it's it's Christian Watson yeah still Watson yeah he's the guy that's just supposed to like be the quote unquote burner and stretch the field and we've seen when he's healthy Love Takes those shots remember the Thanksgiving game he ran to him right away first play of the game against Detroit it's like okay here we go haven't seen a whole lot of Watson and I expected Watson to be that Red Zone guy too there was a couple moments in the preseason where he threw a couple Fades to him but dubs has been that guy because he's been the one that has been able to stay on the field uh and he's been healthy so yeah last year Endzone targets Red Zone targets air yards Target share he was number one and it's easy for people to say well it's because Watson wasn't playing and Wix came on late it's like yeah well that's that's part of it durability is part of it so he is the guy that's on the field he's the guy that love looks to in the Red Zone he's the guy that gets those Fades those Corner routes um I I agree with you on Wicks I think he's the most talented I think he's the best route Runner uh and you know he's just kind of buried at the moment uh so yeah there's a scenario where all of these guys and that's why I thought you know Jaden Reed was going a little bit too early in draft because uh the ball's probably going to get spread out but yeah man I really like Romeo dubs and I've come around on him since this middle point of last year like man he's just on the field making plays even if he's just getting catches it seems like two of his targets are in the Red Zone that's super valuable all right so then further down this list I mentioned the name I love some Shakir and I actually think he fits Di's role but my concern and why I have him fourth behind those names but also my concern overall it's cooled off from having Shakir pushing the top 40 to now he's still in the 40s but just in the preseason if we're reading again the drop backs and running routes he's coming off the field so now Samuel's banged up but we don't know if Samuel will be okay for week one but if he is at least so far it seemed like Shakir was the third option which sucks does maybe he's taken that spot since Samuel Miss some time but there's no Clarity there's not like we need to really see how this shakes out but the upside of Shakir is why I still have him here in front of you know how much I like Adonai Mitchell now that there's no Josh DS Josh DS could get Wally pipped well Josh DS could come back and be like man Mitchell took my job unfortunately I'm screwed now jacobe Myers at 6 sounds maybe like the deio Douglas situation but I go back to like this just is insane this is another one that like nobody would get right jacobe Myers last year with the crap that they had at quarterback was wide receiver 24 overall and if you're like well he played the full season he was still wide receiver 26 in points per game this dude's been drafted as like wide receiver 58 nobody wants jacobe Myers I'm like okay I'll take jacobe Myers I guess yeah you could get him as your last wide receiver is your fifth or your Sixth and there's 10 teamers that don't draft Kobe that don't draft I know and you know doing my rings last night I found myself he was one of those guys where I moved up into like the 40s he was like in the 60s mid to late 60s and I'm like I don't know man against the Chargers like as the number two passing option in the game like bra Brock Bowers is a rookie it sounds like he's going to play but he's been dealing with a foot injury over the past couple weeks it sounds like from Antonio Pierce he's going to be good to go but jacobe Meyers that's a guy that I could see Catching five or six passes and we're sitting here talking about him like we talked about Adam thelon to start the season like maybe not as heavy but like hey he's catching four to six passes every week and it's like you don't want to play him now because you feel like you have three studs wide receivers however your league is but come by weeks again it just he may be valuable for you as a guy that's just again catching passes so I think this Raiders offense is going to be better than people think I think a lot of people like their defense and are overlooking the potential with Garder M offense I agree with you so number seven is somebody looked talked a lot about Darnell Mooney got how many times just like the Mike Williams situation but different in the fact of if you like what's going to happen for Drake London if you like what's going to happen for Kyle Pitts why don't you like darnold money it's going to be Boomer bus Samuel is at eight Curtis Samuel actually brought this up and says very similar to the Cowboys running backs like just take them see how it shakes out because if Samuel is out there for 100% of the routes and Curtis Samuel goes out there and week one is 6 for 80 and a touchdown people are going to be going crazy for Curtis Samuel because Josh Allen more than not likely is going to throw 4,000 plus yards yeah probably around 30 touchdowns so somebody's got to do it um Gabe Davis at nine and then this is get like Gabe Davis at nine rashed Shahed at 10 uh 11's Wix because the get Wix is wrong Wix is either too high or too low cuz Wix comes out there and all of a sudden shocks us and he is in the mix is a one or two or whatever it's too low if he's completely the four he's way down and he's kind of irrelevant unless somebody gets hurt but skipping past him because I wanted to say Gabe Davis nine Shahid 10 Jaylen pulk 12 diami Brown 13 you throw them all in the bucket CU it's basically a very similar wide receiver situation for all three of them as in they're what they're going to produce in like the big plays Boomer bus hid and Miss blah is there one of those four would you go the same order or is there one that you like more from the Davis Shahed pul Brown I think you're going to say pulk aren't you yeah I I think pulk is a good stash but um Davis and Shahed are guys that will you'll probably play more than pulk so I I agree with your rankings like pulk is just that guy for me and I know I talked earlier about why would you stash Like A fifth or a sixth but that feels like a different stash as opposed to like a right a Demario or something like that it's like a guy that I'm viewing is Midway through the season we see Drake May under Center and that's where I think pul could like really uh Excel as like maybe the number one option in the high ceiling there but you know I think certainly in the first few weeks you'll if you get into a pinch and there's injuries or by- weeks you'd rather play the the Boomer bus guys the number two wide receiver in New Orleans probably behind chra in terms of targets uh Gabe Davis I've been taking some uh picking him late like I want Brian Thomas Jr but when I don't get Brian Thomas J Jor it's like okay Gabe Davis I really hope Gabe Davis is not relevant I hope he's not so upset for Brian thas it would suck yeah that's who's going to get hurt the most but I think like out of the touchdown guys in Jacksonville's offense like those are the two guys that I you know I can I can see Trevor Lawrence hitting them up with with some deep shots I think the offense is going to be better and I think taaw is gonna have a nice nice bounceback campaign this year so getting some shots on him like I'd rather I think I would rather take Gabe or Shahed over Curtis saml just for like touchdown upside um but really like Mooney and I like where you have him and again I can kind of vision him like don't you feel like he can play Like Jordan Addison in Vikings offense last year is like busted coverage stuff like at the start of the year it's all anybody was talking about Jordan Addison like oh my God another busted coverage like luckily for him the defense is and it's like stop it man like that's part of it the defense it's part of the Kevin oconnell offense like they're gonna focus on pits in London a lot of one-on-one and who's the Deep thre guy cousins was hitting Addison at the start of the season because of that the Deep threat one-on-one Blowing by guys so I think Moone is going to be a lot better than people think man like he's only a couple years in from a thousand yards I know a disrespect all right so no dami Brown love I can't get you on board with dami brown uh yeah I get on board over over I like where you have them I was just about say is there anybody behind dami Brown that you would take instead of him so Judy at 14 I mean this might be Elijah Moore there was talk that Elijah Moore was running at the two and they were keeping Judy in the slot that one has to shake out uh Thelen dorch van Jefferson I can't believe is on this list Yoshis Demarcus Robinson and I mean we're going down from there so is there anybody that you would say you would take over dami just on the chance that he is the two with Jaden Daniels yeah that's a thing right like I would just uh Luke Luke mcaffrey I think is going to take some time um I really see I have mcaffry down at 30 because of the he's capped in my opinion as the slot option Noah Brown's at 29 by the way the commanders picked up Noah Brown which everybody remembers oh those three games of nearly 20 plus points in those three it's going to take some time for him to get the Playbook to switch over I mean it could be two weeks but I put Noah Brown way down there as in like huh I'm in a deeper league if dami Brown falters Noah Brown could be the answer outside yeah so I would take Brown now knowing that he he's been there and he's been catching passes through a camp but I could see a scenario where Noah Brown yeah come week three or week four is is playing ahead him um other guys in this list that I mean Demarcus Robinson I kind of dig well I was going to say this so let me give you from Van Jefferson oh my God no let's start with dorch we go dorch at 16 Van Jefferson's the two like I don't like van Jefferson but until Roman Wilson takes over he is the two by the way Roman Wilson way down the list um dorch van Yoshis Demarcus Robinson Mims juell Michael Wilson Tolbert Malik Washington Jay McMillan from those give me your two favorites my two favorites would probably be it sucks because it's guys that are threes on their teams but offenses that I think run a lot of three wide receiver sets is Robinson Robinson and Yos just with everything that's happening right now with Chase just like who knows man like Chase is GNA play week one but what if he pulls something Higgins has been hurt a couple times too what if one of those talked that he might not even play week one like that's what I mean like and Yosi is probably a guy that you're not going to want to play week one even knowing that he may be the number two option in a game where they're 10-point favorites at home against the Pats but um maybe a guy that you want to stat just because listen Joe burrow likes the pass pass percentage high top five in the NFL three wide receiver sets no Boyd no Mixon what are we doing here Chase what's going on and then Higgins after that Yos may just be the guy so him and Robinson I know Robinson's behind um you know he's behind obviously puka and cup but off last year towards the end yeah Demarcus Demarcus yeah for the Rams you know there's guys that again are ahead of him probably um ahead of both of those guys in terms of targets even in a run for his team van Jefferson most likely um and wandall Robinson tolber is also I think pretty interesting as the a guy that maybe coulds yeah maybe he can get get past Cooks this year I like MC a St but I mean you need he's it's like like when you get down to McMillan Legette Burton Whittington even Roman Wilson on the flip side he's the one that needs to get healthy and then Jawan Jennings who's basically Jordan Mason at wide receiver like all these are like as you can see if I told you somebody gets hurt but it's like a lot of the names in front of them are names that are like actually playing actually involved um is there a favorite from their is at McMillan as well yeah McMillan I like Burton no I would say like what if I told you what if I what if I told you that chase said he was going to hold out the first six games I'd go pick I'd go pick up over Yoshi yeah um I would yeah I more yeah that's what weal that's what we've been talking about all offseason is that even when the Bengals made that draft pick right they're maybe planning I don't know what to do with Chase thing is starting to get it's Tuesday and Chase is still not practicing so well he do Friday if he doesn't practice Friday I'm not playing him if he's active week one I don't even know if I'd play him I really don't because I just can't take I can't mess around with this immediately week one immediately like The Season's starting here dude like you gotta practice all right before we get out of here streaming tight ends and defenses if you waited on tight ends the answer just continues to be Tamm Hill after that I think Jon Smith is fun Hunter Henry with jacobe brassette and then Khan and the gasis and I included Colby Parkinson for everybody Tyler heg basally at times I was gonna bring him up so I'm glad you did is like the Deep would you go dolch in anywhere do like like no word of like anything and then all of a sudden over the weekend too there was like this little blip of coaches talking up doic and the fact that like hey you know this is somebody who likes his tight ends and like I'm like just like eh I have a couple shares of him in like this deeper stuff mostly best ball but I think I would go Parkinson ahead of him again just the environment of the Rams and lions and what that game was in the playoffs last year and the fact that we could see 50 plus points so I would just lean with the total so yep and then before we get out of here some defenses the stream reminder you want to actually Chase teams that might have to pass a lot and that's what because you want potential sacks and turnovers that's what you want uh so the Bengals even though I mean the Patriot are going to have to pass at some point and to go peret safe but still SE I have Seattle versus Denver Tampa Bay there you go Saints against Carolina Chargers and down from there but I got a little push back I'm curious which way as we get out of here which way you side on the Seahawks thing uh Pat said not that concerned or not not that excited I should say I think he had him at 10 or 11 overall in the rankings which is still a startable defense but a lot of people would put him a little bit higher because he's saying B niick sure but B Nick in the Shan Payton offense Shawn Payton's offense doesn't lead to a lot of turnovers and probably what they'll ask Nicks to do is not throw a ton in week one so are you more with Pat or do you think that the Seahawks should be actually one of the top five or six defenses this week I'm not calling out Pat he makes a good point get it no he does make a good point I'm sure but Seahawks are one of the most popular streaming defenses outside of the Bengals in week one yeah and I like them uh because it is a rookie quarterback um it's in Seattle right yep next to New England if you want a two we streaming defense yeah exactly and you know Seattle's a still a rocking place man like B Knicks is first start in the NFL that's going to be it's going to be a challenge for him so I agree with Pat and that's going to be the game plan but I also don't believe in this Denver defense this year and I think Seattle will put be able to put some points on the board uh so they may have to get away from that game plan and outside of Courtland set there are a lot of major question marks in the wide receiver room so I like Seattle as a defense yeah that it's gonna be rocking in that building Heth man it's gonna be tough you don't want your first hun fall start to be in Seattle there's a few venues you don't want it to be but Seattle's one of them that that is definitely near the top of the list especially maybe we'll get what we got in college football this week and everybody holding the helmets next to each other and being like Oh we can't hear anything look at what we're going through it's because the college helmets changed a little bit of the the communications but anyway hopefully what didn't change is you listen and paying attention got a lot of information in week one there's a lot of players to talk about in week one of waivers as there should be at Chris meany over at FTM over at the athletic the
