ASMR F1 2024 Italian GP Monza Leclerc Review / #f1 #f12024 Video

hello and welcome once again to the video in this one I shall once again be looking at the latest race from the 2024 Formula 1 World Championship [Music] and as you can see on this occasion I should be joined by three llar for obvious reasons uh 2021 L Clair 2022 L Clair and 2023 L Clair Okay so let's do what I uh always do if I can squeeze it on here with all these llars here um is's The Rundown 20 finishing positions and then the top 10 in the E driver championship and then the top 10 in the constructor's championship and then I'll talk a little bit about uh my thoughts on the race afterwards okay so let let's go so let's squeeze it up here somewhere oh First Look What I haven't done I need to write and I always like to put down Monza as well because um such a famous circuit and I need this to be in Focus okay so second was piastri third Norris fourth science fth how six six I have aeven Russell eight let's make sure this is in Focus again because all these cars around I might knock it out ninth Al 10 Magnus 11th Alonso 12th colapinto 13 Ricardo 15th GLE 16us 17th 18th Joe 19th St 20th sunod okay so driver's Championship we have the St three Z three norus 241 let's check the focus again it's naughty Focus okay third clear 27 fourth PS3 197 ss4 six 64 three Russ 128 Alo 50 strong 24 okay so now the Constructors Championship red 4 six 438 Ferrari 407 292 a Martin 74 six RP 34 28 LP 13 Williams six so still on zero okay so um what did we think of that race or what did I think of that race um for this one I actually managed to watch um uh probably half of all the practice and I watched all the qualifying and I watched all the race so perfect that was terrible last week that I missed um a chunk right so first thing I'm going to down the fastest lap look at that Norris once again look at him go fastest lap on the last lap I mean he was beaten most definitely by piastri in this race close but he was beaten pastri had the edge on him throughout the race but um you got the fastest lap right at the end for the second race running and that's very difficult um um although he was on he was a two- stopper so it was a bit easier on his ties but still that was amazing that he pinched that on hard ties he pinched that off for stappen right at the end so he got the point and for stappen lost the points that was a two-point swing anyway um this race was more about lir and pestry for me um the qualifying as I'm sure you've heard as well was the closest top six in history in any race in history there might have been a closest top five before uh there was certainly a closest top three I remember in 1997 European Grand Prix 1997 I think we had three drivers with all the same time basically at the front of the Grid it's incredible um but this is the closest top six uh and it's fantastic it's the way this is what happens when you have a long Championship see this is why we need 24 races because different things can can happen if it was a 16 Race Championship it would have still been a comfortable win for um for stappen and Red Bull but because the championship so long you've got enough time for things to change and they really have changed with uh firstly Ferrari seemed to be coming back into it in the in after about well after Monaco basically it looked like lir was was going to challenge V stappen for the championship and Ferrari were going to challenge Red Bull then Ferrari's um they fell away due to uh an upgrade that didn't work and they had to try and reverse engineer the car a little bit H that was all a bit of a problem so they fell away McLaren then suddenly came good after Monaco um so they came charging forward and now Ferrari have come charging forward and in amongst all of that Mercedes have come forward as well and Red Bull have fallen back it's fantastic um and that's because it's a long championship this is why you need a long Championship so many championships have been lost by drivers and teams because they've had an unreliable car in the first few races 1991 for instance back then always 16 races in the year 1991 Senna won the first four races Mansel in his Williams Senna in McLaren Manel in his Williams only finished one of those four races second place in Monaco so after four races it was 10 points for a win back then so after four races Senna had 40 points Mansel had six um Mansel his car then started to get more reliable and it was able to showare its real pace and it closed and he got to with eight points of center after the German Grand Prix but then a couple of retirements well mainly the Belgian Grand Prix uh pushed him back again but and he lost the championship by about 16 points I think to Center and it was all because of those first four races if that had been a 24 Race Championship when who knows what what might have happened Manel might have won the championship or the McLaren might have come back at the Williams and Senna might have won the championship who knows but it's always more exciting the longer the championship is so that race what a fantastic Race by um lir and Ferrari to hold on to that One-Stop strategy yes they had um they were able to make that call because they weren't leading the race so it was a little bit of a shot to nothing um there was there was a slight chance that they might might have lost out to possibly Hamilton possibly V stappen uh if their ties had completely Fallen apart but that was unlikely I think even though it was mentioned during the race as being a possibility that Hamilton might catch them if their tires fell way off um if uh it was not really I don't think it was likely so I think they were always going to finish third and fourth even if they Gamble uh failed so uh it was a shot to nothing by Ferrari so I don't know whether you could say it's Brave as such I don't necessarily think it's Brave uh it would have been more Brave if McLaren had done it because they were out front um but anyway what it was most definitely was a very good drive by both lir and SS um okay lir had like a 10-second lead over science didn't he but science also held on to his tires extremely well to come home for fourth um he hasn't really been mentioned it's all been about the ca obviously because he won the race but both Ferraris were extremely good and you have to compliment Ferrari themselves for being very good on their on their tires basically they've got a car that can treat its tires well at the moment which is very good this is still all in Focus isn't it I hope so yeah Red Bull started on hards um that shows how how far they've dropped that they're they're they're starting to experiment they're trying to go different to the other teams uh in races to try and do something that's what a that's what a team does when it's struggling to win it starts experimenting uh and they experimented by going on hards uh it didn't work for them though um uh what else I've written down quite a few notes here so I'm just going to chop through them um yeah Norris once again slow at the start he got to the the chicane first in first place but but still both piastri and well not so much lar but piastri definitely was all over him even though he got to that shicane first I still thought hang on he's going to get past he's going to I didn't realize piastri was going to do do it in in quite a dangerous way um but I was fully expecting piastri to get past cuz piastri is lightning fast off the starts and um Norris is as I've said before I think I could do n to 60 uh faster than him it's his starts are terrible from a standing start but also from safety car restart or coming out the pits he's just always slow and takes time to speed up so I wasn't surprised that piastri got ped I was just surprised at how aggressive he was I think the team will say look can you not attack each other on the first lap I think it was a clean overtake it was a clean overtake but it was just teammate on teammate on just the what third corner of the first lap that could have all ended in disaster um so I think the team will say look you know we're okay with you overtaking Norris piastri you were faster that's fine they were free to race so that piastri didn't do anything wrong in in that regard overtaking Norris because they were free to race so that's all great but can you just do it in a in a not 10 seconds after the start of the race please um I'll do it down the straet you know um it was a it was a a tad aggressive by piastri and could have wiped both of them out um but it was also a very good move as well and the but I thought then Norris was obviously going to come back at pestry gradually throughout the race piastri would get slower like he always does NIS would get faster but it didn't happen this is the first race that I can think of where piastri has properly beaten Norris he didn't beat him in Hungary Norris let him past um so Norris was faster than than pastri in Hungary for most of that race um and I think would have won the race had they not messed up by bringing in Norris first for his Pit Stop which then meant he had to give the place back to piastri later so this is the first time that I can think of where piastri is fully beaten Norris and it's what I expected I expected this from the start of this year if not last year because he came into Formula 1 PS3 with so much hype just like Antonelli um just like Hamilton he came in with so much hype just like for stappen that he was expected to do well straight away um I mean Hamilton was on the podium for his first nine races in Formula 1 piastri has this I think he's taken by in about 40 races and and this I think is the first time that he's properly beaten Norris and I'd have expected that to be sooner but maybe he's a maybe PS3 is a bit of a slow burner um but very strong performance by PS3 anyway I have to say Norris was not far behind him not much slower but he was slightly slower than piastri all the way through the race especially strangely towards the end where piastri seemed to be able to pull out um yes he did have clean air pastri had that that that would have helped a bit um that is true but I would have still expected ordinarily for Norris to have closed him down like he has done in previous races um uh the hes they were in the wars weren't they dear me uh hulkenberg didn't he he clashed with someone early in the race and did he get a penalty for that he tackled um someone maybe it was sunod actually who ended up retiring I think it might have been Coda um hulkenberg might have got penalty for that I can't remember and then of course Magnuson was in the wars as well lots of overtaking Maneuvers lots of jousting he's very aggressive Magnuson which is why he ended up with 12 penalty points at the end of this race another two points earned unjustly I think I don't think he should have got two penalty points for his move on uh who is it on I can't remember who it's on he did Magnus clash with um was it Ricardo was it Ricardo I seem to think that the two hes clashed with the two RBS but um I can't remember who it was uh anyway Magnuson crashed into someone is it sunod or was no gazley sorry gazley gazley gazley gazley of course it was but he Magnuson simply outbreak himself if you want to give him a penalty okay give him five seconds which I think is what um was given to uh hulkenberg wasn't it earlier in the race I think or was it Ricardo Ricard they were involved in so many instance the H cars I think Ricardo did something NY to hulkenberg right at the start or something and ricardi got five seconds something like that anyway the big one was Magnuson on gazley not because it was a big accident not because it was particularly naughty but because of the repercussions he gets a 10-sec penalty Magnuson still manages to finish 10th just ahead of Alonzo despite that um 10c penalty added on to his time I think and also uh he gets two penalty points why is he getting two penalty points I think they're punishing Magnuson for other just because it's Magnuson he is very very aggressive so when you see him lock up you think ah okay yeah it's Magnuson being Magnuson but I think he just locked up maybe he shouldn't have gone for the move but um it wasn't an I think it should be intentional if you get penalty points like you know deliberately steering into someone to try and sort of push him off a little bit um push him off the track a little bit I mean I think what ven did to Norris in Austria would out of the two deserve penalty points more so than Magnuson here because this was just a mistake right mag it wasn't an intentional move across the track a blocking move uh that shouldn't have happened a dangerous blocking move or anything like that it wasn't a liberate move he locked his breaks um so I think that's harsh and now in what is probably his last season in Formula 1 for him to miss one of those races I think is a is a shame um Russell versus Perez they were fighting a lot as well um Russell had damaged his car early in the race was that the tag with Ricardo I'm getting all these drivers mixed up AR I but anyway Russell um right at the beginning actually didn't he going into the first chicane Russell um was taken a little bit by surprise by piastri moving across on him um wasn't unfair move it wasn't an unfair move by piastri but I think that definitely took Russell by surprise so he ended up going off through the barriers weaving in and out of the uh pestarian blocks um and some point he lost his I think he lost his side front thing they were saying that he had hit another driver but I think it was hitting one of the one of the ballards because he definitely hit the last Ballard going through those pestarian blocks and I think that's where he damaged his front Wing Russell but that compromised him for the whole of the rest of the race unfortunately um yeah he had a ding-dong battle with Perez um now Perez moved across on Russell that was dangerous that was a deliberate move Perez moved across uh squeeze Russell off the track slightly more dangerous more deliberate than what Magnuson did and yet Magnuson gets two points not that I think Perez should have got two points but out of the two instance Perez's one was worse because it was deliberate dangerous and deliberate okay um so Ferrari one stopped fantastic performance that as I've already said um and this is yet another race the last five races um at Monza pole has not won I think it was the last five races at Monza and not the last five races this year um I picked up on that stat but um I think it's the last five races at mon um colapinto fantastic what a great Race by kapino I mean we didn't see him at all but he only finished um 13 seconds of the points and only 14 seconds behind his teammate albon that was a fantastic performance by colapinto he's going to get huge pats on the back but remember Nick Dev put in a fantastic performance was it two years ago or three years ago two years ago um on his debut um he was quite old though for his debut wasn't he was about 28 but his debut in the Williams he finished ninth and that's why he got the uh uh seat at alatar the following year but then he only lasted about eight races before they replaced him with Ricardo so let's hold off judgment on colapinto until the pressure mounts a little bit more but still for a first race it was fantastic very very good by colapinto but that doesn't mean that he's you know going to be fantastic from this moment on I mean Magnuson finished second in his first race was it 2013 Australian Grand Prix was he second or third he was on the podium anyway Magnuson alongside um his teammate Jensen button who was also on the podium they were second and third I just can't remember the order was was it renan that won that race in 2013 the in the in the Lotus I think it might have been anyway um yeah so Magnuson put in a very good performance in his first race stle vanor put in a very good performance in his first race came ninth in the terrible McLaren um he stood in for Jensen button was it for One race partway through the season can't remember when 2017 2016 2015 something uh and the absolutely horrific second incarnation of McLaren Honda and uh he was um ninth but then unfortunately didn't really do anything else after that despite going into Formula 1 is a fantastic with a fantastic history in F2 and everything so let's hold back on colapinto who you know hasn't shun like a star in Formula 2 he's been okay but he's he's not a standout driver he's a bit like Sergeant was really so let's see what happens but a fantastic first race now the interesting thing with pastry's pass on Norris is there is a chance some people think so some people think not uh it's difficult to tell um but there's a chance that that pass by P on Norris May well may well have lost pastri the race ironically um because that pass on Norris allowed llaa to pass Norris and get in between the McLaren which meant the McLaren weren't able to control the race from the front in the way that they would have the team would have liked them to it compromised everything slightly having lir in between the two McLarens um interestingly lir doesn't think it would have made a difference um some uh people in the Pedic think it would have done some people think it wouldn't have done I tend to think it wouldn't have because it's not like um it's not like lir was right behind piastri in the first segment of the race and Norris fell well back so in other words had lir being behind Norris lir would have fallen while back it wasn't like that all three of them were quite close together going into the first pit stop so I don't think it would have made that much of a difference but um the question has been raised as to whether or not ironically that lost pestry the race pastry's overtaking maneuver on noris I don't think we'll see that again I think they will tell them don't do anything like that on the first lap emotions are high on the first lap you know just relax because that could have been a disaster um now I will still say that NIS is definitely out driven pestry all year apart from this race for instance in qualifying Norris has out qualified pestry in 13 of the 16 races and I don't really accept the point that piastri is inexperienced because he's now 40 races about 40 races I mean that's longer than some people's careers so uh I don't I don't class P stre as inexperienced at all that's in in old money that would be two and a half Seasons back when they were uh 16 races a year and in even older money going back to the 60s 50s and 60s that would have been like four more than four seasons more than four years so I wouldn't say that piastri is is um inexperienced I I can't use that as an excuse for piastri I just think Norris is out driven piastri this year apart from this race where most definitely piastri had the edge on Norris even though yes piastri was in clean air so yeah 13 times this year narus is out qualified piastri to pastri three and he's finished ahead of him in 10 races out of 16 and he's got 241 points to 197 and he's got two wins to one win so he he beats piastri in all of the stats for this year probably fastest laps as well because he's had the last two fastest laps um max was at it again of course getting Super Hyper aggressive he said and I'm not quoting this is sort of paraphrasing but he said can the guys in the background wake up I know I'm in a blank position um but uh you know sort yourselves out or something like that basically it might have been a reference to his long Pit Stop um he had a pit stop that was 4 seconds too long due to a tie getting stuck he has no idea if that if if he was referring to that pit stop he has no idea if um that was a fault by the mechanic or some problem with the tire like cross threaded Tire um nut or something um or is he talking about the uh strategy guys in the background on the pit wall or something not helping him out with his strategy I don't know but anyway it's a bit rude I think to to suggest that there are team members who need to wake up um I think they should say back to him come on Max wake up you're in sixth position why aren't you leading wake up Max you know um you're only two places ahead of your teammate if you're going to sake wake up um he's so he's so aggressive he's so out of order uh I think uh Max but fantastic driver don't get me wrong I gave him 10 out of 10 um halfway through the season for this season but he's just too aggressive needs to criticize himself a little bit sometimes um so he's got 61 point 6 two point lead in the championship that's doable okay it's still Norris is still on target to catch fappen especially if it's true what fappen says about his car just you know falling to pieces from now on to the end of the season unless there's an an upgrade it's as if he didn't know whether or not there was an upgrade coming he just said if this car isn't improved with upgrades then well I guess he knows the upgrades are coming but he doesn't know if they're going to actually work that's the thing um then he thinks Norris could catch I still think for steppen will win by about 30 points um is piastri in the title hunt I don't think so he's 44 points behind lir is he's 24 points behind Norris I think Norris is the only one that's got a chance but unfortunately these piastri is close enough that piastri can say I'm still in it so I I'm not going to help Norris those are the eight drivers that are still in it these are the five teams that are still it look at that that's incred that's fantastic look at that 446 438 47 just just in the last race last week I wasn't thinking Ferrari were in the championship One race later and I'm suddenly thinking they're really in the championship and could easily win it um even Aston Martin M such a long season that even Aston Martin are still in the championship with the number of races that are left and it's so amazing Mercedes have won three races uh same as Ferrari and yet only 292 points and that's because they had such a bad start to the championship but look at this over here look this is incredible isn't it all the points of course scored by the top four teams pretty much so because of that the two Aston Martin drivers are still holding on to ninth and 10th in the championship stroll 10th in the championship 104 points behind Russell only two places further up in the championship Hamilton he's won two races but he's he just cannot climb up the board for some reason because of his he either wins a race or he comes fifth or sixth at the moment so um he's not consistently scoring points unlike piastri who is consistently we we don't think of him as being in the championship but over the last five or six races I forget what the stat is but he's it's either five or six he is joint top scorer with Norris on 84 points so his strong consistent scoring s with neair and that's why they're not far off the championship hunt um but I think they they are still too far away I wonder at what stage will McLaren start to focus on Norris this race has not helped but then again piastri only scored two points more than Norris um but pastry's um better performance um will also cast doubt on McLaren as to whether not they should favor Norris yet but at some point they're going to have to and when they when they do that it'll probably be too late Norris lost uh seven points in Hungary and he also has lost two points here three points sorry three points here so 10 points there in those two races it's not not a massive amount though I think both lir and piastri deserve to win this race both of them equally pastri deserved to win it because he was the fastest person on the track lir deserved to win it because of how well he held on to his tires and made the strategy work so what else do I have to say I don't think I have anything else to say no not really I still think my favorite for the next race where is it uh aaban isn't it uh completely different track but from what the teams are saying they're all expecting to be okay at that track and be good at that track so I my favorite is still Norris for aaban um and we'll see I'll see what happens basically I think that's a couple of weeks away isn't it a couple of weeks okay thank you for watching thank you for listening um if you'd like to subscribe please do so um if you like to leave a comment please do so or like the video or leave a tip in the thanks button below the video uh but basically thank you for watching and I will see you oh oh what's the other thing um the other thing I was going to uh mention was papaya rules um I think it was explained what papaya rules is I'm surprised they explained it I'm surprised they didn't keep it secret but McLaren's papaya rules I think refers to um race each other but race each other fairly um don't push each other off which is you know what every team says to their drivers of course but McLaren have a little catchphrase for it papaya rules um there you go okay so thank you for watching thank you for listening and I will see you on the very next video whatever it may be about thank you and goodbye for now
