TONIGHT THIS, OF COURSE, RESULTED FROM THE OVERNIGHT STORMS THAT HIT MUCH OF THE METRO WITH STRONG WINDS AND HEAVY RAINFALL. >> BRETT HENRY JOINS US LIVE TONIGHT. AND BEN, MINNESOTANS ARE WORKING TO CLEAN IT UP AND HOPING TO GET THE LIGHTS BACK ON . >> THEY'RE WORKING. THEY'RE TRYING. YOU KNOW, IT WAS THAT EARLY MORNING STORM THAT ROLLED THROUGH THAT REALLY GOT SOME PEOPLE. WELL, AND THESE ARE TOUGH DAYS, ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE SOMETHING LIKE THIS. YOU SPEND ALL DAY CHOPPING UP THE BRANCHES, GETTING THEM READY TO HAUL THEM OUT AND THEN FOR SOME WHO DON'T HAVE POWER, THEY CAN'T EVEN GO INSIDE TO THE AC AND WATCH THE LITTLE NIGHTCAST IF THEY WANT IT. XCEL, THOUGH WORKING HARD, THEY'VE RESTORED POWER TO MORE THAN 100,000 CUSTOMERS TODAY, BUT WE ARE SEEING AND LEARNING THERE'S STILL MORE WORK AHEAD. ELECTRIFYING STORMS, SHUTTING DOWN POWER FOR TENS OF THOUSANDS. >> I GOT WOKE UP WITH A CRASH AND IT CAME. IT CAME LOUD AND CAME FAST. >> LIKE PATRICK WALRATH OF SAINT PAUL WERE A MESS OF BRANCHES FELL ON HIS POWER LINES. >> OBVIOUSLY WE DIDN'T TOUCH ANY OF THAT. I GOT A HOLD OF XCEL ENERGY THIS MORNING. IT TOOK ABOUT AN HOUR TO GET THROUGH. AS HE WAITS FOR THE LIGHTS TO FLICK ON. >> IT'S CLEAN UP TIME IN HIS COMO PARK NEIGHBORHOOD. >> MY NEIGHBOR ACROSS THE STREET BORROWED ME HIS CHAINSAW. UM, IT'S A GOOD REMINDER THAT YOU NEED FAMILY AND YOU NEED GOOD NEIGHBORS AND THIS NEIGHBORHOODD HAS THAT. >> THIS IS THAT HELPFUL? NEIGHBORS GENERATOR. HIS POWER'S OUT TO EXCEL. >> HAS BEEN GOOD. IT SAYS 150,000 CUSTOMERS WERE IN THE DARK, WITH THE BULK IN THE TWIN CITIES. THEY HAVAVE NO POWER OUTAGES, THOUGH, STRETCHING AS FAR NORTH AS CHICAGO AND ISANTI COUNTIES AND NORTHWESTERN WISCONSIN. >> IT'S TOUGH TO SEE, BUT LIKE I SAID, UM, NEIGHBORHOODS PULL TOGETHER BACK IN THE CITIES WHILE RATH'S LOOKING ON THE BRIGHT SIDE, IT'S A GOOD REMINDER.
