MONDAY. LINDSEY AND KEVIN. >> THANK YOU MATT. POWER OUTAGE LEFT PARTS OF THE MINNESOTA STATE FAIRGROUNDS IN THE DARK THIS AFTERNOON. >> IT BEGAN SHORTLY AFTER FOUR AND LASTED FOR ROUGHLY AN HOUR AND A HALF. IT EVEN CAUGHT SOME OF OUR FRIENDS OVER AT TWIN CITIES LIVE OFF GUARD. OKAY THERE WE GO. >> HEY! OH MY GOSH, WE HAD A LITTLE DIFFICULTY. >> WE LOST POWER OUT HERE. A FEW OTHER PLACES. LOST POWER. >> IT WAS DRAMATIC. I WAS SITTING NEXT TO HIM WHEN IT HAPPENED. LUCKILY THEY WERE ABLE TO GET BACK ON THE AIR IN JUST A FEW MINUTES. RICHARD REEVE JOINS US LIVE FROM THE FAIR TONIGHT. >> RICH, YOU'VE BEEN TALKING TO VENDORS. WHAT WAS THE IMPACT? YEAH KEVIN, A BIG IMPACT. >> THIS ALL BEGAN AROUND 420 THIS AFTERNOON. STATE FAIR OFFICIALS SAY THEY GOT WORD OF A LOCALIZED POWER OUTAGE. AND WE'RE BACK HERE LIVE. YOU CAN OBVIOUSLY SEE THE MIDWAY. VERY BUSY. THE POWER IS BACK ON. BUT LET'S TAKE A LOOK AT SOME VIDEO FROM EARLIER THIS EVENING. THIS IS THE MIDWAY. AND YOU CAN SEE THAT THE LIGHTS ARE BACK ON. BUT THIS WAS PRETTY WIDESPREAD. THE DAIRY BAR AND THE DNR BUILDING BOTH WENT D DARK. TWO PEOPLE WEE STUCK ON THE SKYSCRAPER RIDE DURING THIS OUTAGE. THEY WERE LOWERED TO SAFETY ABOUT FIVE MINUTES LATER. THEY WERE NOT HURT. OFFICIALS TELL US BOOTHS SOUTH OF THE GRANDSTAND WERE IMPACTED, AS WELL AS ATTRACTIONS ALONG JUDSON AVENUE, LIGGETT STREET AND UNDERWOOD STREET. VENDORS TOLD US THEY HAD TO SCRAMBLE BECAUSE OF THE LOSS OF THAT POWER, BUT FORTUNATELY, ALL OF OUR MACHINES WENT DOWN. >> AND SO UNFORTUNATELY, WE CANNOT SERVE PRODUCTS. BUT, YOU KNOW WHAT? THE FIRST THING WE DID IS CALL BACKUPS FOR REFRIGERATORS, BACKUP COOLER TRUCKS, BECAUSE LIKE I SAID, NUMBER ONE, FOOD SAFETY IS OUR PRIORITY. >> I MEAN, IT AFFECTED OUR, UH, AFFECTED OUR LIGHTS AND OUR POP MACHINE. THAT WAS IT. SO AND THEN WE JUST SO WE JUST SOLD WATER. SO. AND WE SOLD IN THE DARK. >> YOU'RE KIND OF FLICKER AT ALL OR JUST GO BOOM. >> UH, IT KIND OF JUST FLICKERED. SOME OF THE LIGHTS FLICKERED. I KNOW THEY DID. ON DOWN IN THE CATTLE BARN WITH OUR LP GAS FRYERS, WE CONTINUE TO SELL OUR PRODUCT AND THEN WITH THAT, WE'RE ABLE TO, YOU KNOW, KEEP THE STAND OPEN. >> WE HAVE CASH. SO WE WERE ABLE TO GET MONEY THROUGH THE SYSTEM . >> YEAH. AND FAIR OFFICIALS SAY THEY WERE ABLE TO COME IN AND REPLACE A FUSE. BELIEVE IT OR NOT, THIS MAY HAVE BEEN CAUSED SIMPLY BY A BLOWN FUSE. NOW THEY GOT THE POWER BACK ON BY ABOUT 5:39 P.M. THAT MEANS THE OUTAGE LASTED FOR ABOUT AN HOUR AND 20 MINUTES. YOU KNOW, WE WERE JUST IN THE DAIRY BARN MINUTES AGO AND THEY WERE PACKED. BUT THEY SAY THEY'RE NOW THINKING ABOUT GETTING A BACKUP GENERATOR IN CASE THIS EVER HAPPENS AGAIN. REPORTING LIVE RICHARD REEVE, EYEWITNESS FIVE EYEWITNESS NEWS. ALL RIGHT, RICK, I BET A LOT
