when new rankings are released after week one new Bama head coach kayin dbor has his team fifth in the preseason poll and can't wait to kick things off Saturday against Western Kentucky you know I don't know if we get like Jitters but I think it's good to have butterflies right it's good to have like an excitement it always comes down to your preparation and if you prepared the best you can and you know you're ready and uh you know more more than your opponent and done everything uh possible all week long as well as your teammates when you're prepared well you're going to be confident look nerves just mean you're prepared and you care about what you're doing so all right Desmond what are your expectations for kayin dore's first season at Alabama wow I expect uh kayin deor to have a a huge amount of success I mean he's won everywhere he's been and um I had an opportunity to sit down with him a year ago while he was the head coach in Washington and his philosophy the way he approached the game it just it appeals to me I love his um you know the way he um looks at his quarterbacks the way he was just talking to Jaylen milro he was building him up I don't know if you guys really paid attention but he was just saying little things to build jaylen's confidence up to let him know that he's in this corner he's a great players coach I'm expecting to see a group of men that's disciplined that's fundament mentally sound but I really want to watch the progression of jayen Mill this probably isn't the best defense to judge jayen mro but you still can learn a lot and just see how Jaylen milro responds you know through a little bit of adversity if he throws a bad pass or something of that nature so those are like the little things I'll be looking for in this game yeah and I'll be looking for a clean Jersey from jayen Milo why do I say that well last year Jaylen Muro was sacked 49 times that's the most at least in Alabama history since saaks became a stat In 1980 this offensive line though has gotten better why the starting center from Washington Parker brailsford has transferred from Washington to Alabama why does that matter well Parker braford was a part of the Joe Moore award winning offensive line that's the best offensive line of college football that wasn't Washington who else well of course their head coach kayen dbor and a bunch of the staff members but it's not just Parker brailford at center it's it's Tyler Booker at guard getting better it's Kaden Proctor at tackle getting better as well so some of these guys like Proctor a young player but maturing and so what I'm most excited is to see the clean Jersey of your quarterback Jaylen milro but also that which will lead to offensive prowess and down the field pass down the field passing like we saw last year with Michael penx who threw for over 4,900 yards and I love what Dez said you know how he's a player players coach and everything we've seen and heard he cares about his players he cares about the program can only succeed with that but Dez when you look at their schedule what might be their most challenging game yeah so we can put the schedule up let's check out the uh you know September 28th going against the number one team in the country Georgia I think that's going to be a huge test October 19th people aren't talking about Tennessee I think Tennessee is going to be really sneaky good and they're on the road at LSU is always a blood bath all right Sam quickly which one gota gotta I was going to circle that September 28th that Georgia game I mean Georgia's coming off that lost SEC Championship game and so they're going to want that usually you get you only you only get opportunities like this in the postseason in the playoffs in National Championship uh this just happened to be on our schedule so uh it's a great opportunity to play the best team in the country right out of the game our guys are excited for a great matchup um looks like will get the earliest kick of the day so it should be exciting in terms of um all the people across the country that'll be watch a great game and a really a great rivalry a rivalry that when you look back I didn't realize how many years consecutively Georgia played uh Clemson for a long time but just a lot of uh respect for their program what dabo's done he's done an incredible job and for them to take over this cause I think it's a uh it's a it's a great um event and um to have two teams like this it's going to be awesome it's going to be awesome indeed now all eyes on week one for this very reason the first year of the 12 team playoff features several Marquee matchups in week one including the Clemson Georgia matchup which is one of three non-conference games with the biggest impact on the playoff race going on this weekend according to the All State Playoff predictor the other two are Notre Dame versus A&M and USC versus LSU now Pete the number one team in the country coming into this one with questions in the back field what can you tell us about the status of some of the Bulldogs running backs well the the headline is that Trevor aan is facing a onegame suspension he got arrested in March on DUI charges under Georgia Athletic Department policy he's expected to miss one game his backup Rod Robinson is also expected to miss a couple weeks with a toe injury that means we're going to see some new faces Victoria at tailback for the dogs Branson Robinson kind of a bruising sophomore running back is expect to get the start and he'll be backed up by a true freshman named Nate Frasier he's from Los Angeles he played it mat day he has been the buzz player in Georgia Camp he's an electric young back who may not have gotten many carries in this game if not for the traffic that opened up in front of him so look for Frasier to potentially be a breakout guy on Saturday they're going to need to turn on that electricity indeed now Dez as we begin to dive into these week one matchups what stands out to you what stands out to me is this Georgia Clemson game uh monster matchup I want to see how Clemson goes out there and respond all the criticism you've been hearing about dbo Sweeny because he won't dip into the portal and and try to go get Talent he beli in developing his own Talent the kids who he recruited and then watching Cade kumnick the quarterback I want to see is he going to take that that year leap that you normally see from a one a first year starter to a seconde starter and I think that he's a kid who came in to Clemson with a a whole bunch of talent a lot of fanfare he stepped in a couple of times when DJ uh uang could not play and he played extremely well but when he got the keys to the car and it was his the drive he was up and down a lot you know he has a lot of arm Talent can extend plays with his legs but he just needs to be a little bit more consistent so I want to see is he going to be able to take that leap from first year starter to seconde starter and this is going to be the big test going up against a Georgia defense that you know is going to be one of the best in the country this is a huge and exciting matchup for K kumnick and the Clemson Tigers well the best friend of a Young quarterback who may have struggled in the past is a defense that not only is one of the best in the country but a defense that actually statistically was better than Georgia last year that's Clemson's defense they actually were eighth overall in yards allowed and the guys I'm looking at that defense specifically are number zero Barrett Carter and Peter Woods on the defensive line barck Carter could have gone in the NFL last year he's a super freak athlete of a linebacker Peter Woods right there number 13 a young but a dominant defensive lineman and so if Clemson wants to have the kind of success as a team and also to give K kumnick their offensive star the success you need to have the same type of dominant defense that you had last year but on a new level there are four freshman DBS by the way that are returning each one of them had an interception and so with maturity on the offensive side should come maturity on the defensive side as Dez says they're going to have to like turn the engine and and steer the car and a little a little bit of a better Direction all right let's take a look at what's to come for week one Clemson Georgia just one of the games for our Labor Day weekend on ESPN and ABC Deion Sanders in Colorado host North Dakota state to start us off on Thursday then temple Oklahoma on Friday night with the much anticipated SEC ACC match up between Clemson and Georgia being a part of that amazing triple header on Saturday and Sunday night number 23 USC squares off against number 13 LSU in Las Vegas coming up Alabama will
