>> You're watching FOX 49 news. >> Emergency Services in Christian and Taney counties were forced to come up with a backup plan after a massive 9-1-1. Outage today. Thanks for joining us for our 2nd half hour on Lauren Barnes and I'm Mike Landis. Those outage is starting earlier this morning and lasting most of today. FOX 40 nine's Jared Henry spoke with Christian County's emergency management services. >> About how they worked around that issue. Gerri. >> The executive director of Christian County Emergency Services tells me that this is one of the worst 9-1-1, I just the county has ever seen. >> We have had outages in the past, but not to the severity that we hatoday. >> Thank you. Bacon is the executive director of Christian County Emergency Services. She says the outage started at around 5.30 this morning and lasted until around 3.30, this afternoon at the issue is when we can't get calls into the center, then we don't have information to be able to assist our citizens and or give all calls out to our law enforcement. few hours after the initial outage, administrative lines were restored and incoming 9-1-1, calls were rerouted to them. The May 9-1-1, line state down through most of the day. >> Bacon says that a new technology at their disposal took some of the stress away. We do have a program called Rapid S O >> And how are about to show works is when a phone call comes it plots on the map and gives information to via the phone number and we're able to call them back. >> After the outage happened, the next step was notifying the people today. It was social media. We did a press release. We notified all of our service providers. They put it out. So it was it was a really combined effort by everybody in the counting. >> Bacon says the department will be trying to figure out what caused the outage won't know for a couple of days. We do know that it was a telco issue. >> But to what extent and to be able to point fingers right now, we don we don't have anidea. It was not our phone company that we currently have our safety equipment. >> They can says that one of the most important things that you can do is leave the location services on your phone on that way of an outage
