Cooper DeJean IMPRESSES In Eagles Debut! Jahan Dotson WANTS REVENGE On Commanders & MORE!

okay so the Eagles preseason has come to an end with their final game against the Vikings and rookie Cooper de jeene stood out as he made his Eagles debut in the preseason finale and he had several promising moments and impressive plays but they didn't come without mistakes and the Jee made it clear after the game that he's hungry to fix those plus wide receiver Jan doson spoke to the media for the first time after being traded to the Eagles and he talked about his reaction to the trade as well as his excitement to be a part of the bird's extremely talented offense and he also seems like he could be looking to get a bit of Revenge on the commanders when the time comes plus several other eagles showed out in the preseason finale and made a case to be on the final roster ahead a cutdown day while Nolan Smith continues to have Eagles fans a little bit concerned so we're going to talk about all that and more Eagles updates starting right now what's going on everyone if you're new I'm Evan and I cover all things Philadelphia Eagles and now it's official we can switch our Focus towards the start of the regular season finally as the preseason has come to an end and in pretty unceremonious fashion I might add as the birds took a rough home loss to the Vikings by a final score of 26 to3 in a game in which the offensive starters or any starters for that matter did not play and that makes this the second year in a row where now the offensive starters haven't played for even a single Drive in the preseason and if you remember back to last year everyone was questioning the birds and Nick serani for this decision after a slow start in their week one game versus the lowly Patriots and now that they've decided to not play their starters again this year people have naturally started to question whether this same thing will happen again but Nick serani doesn't seem too worried about it we felt like the work that we got in the in the in the joint practice versus the Patriots the inner Squad that we had at the stadium um prior to our first preseason games and then the two uh inner squads uh scrimmages that we had um you know were were was our was our work for the ones and that's why we decided that way if I if I was worried that we weren't going to get good start I'd play them but because of all the work we have uh I'm not worried about that we got to go out there and play and execute now but no I'm comfortable where we are whether you agree with him or not at least Nick seems confident and I guess we really won't know whether or not this was a good decision until the birds get out on the field and in two weeks to open the averse the Packers and we'll get to see firsthand if the offense starts slow or if they come out firing on all cylinders and speaking of firing on all cylinders that's the perfect way to describe the Vikings offense in this preseason game especially in the first half as quarterback jiren Hall LED Minnesota on three long drives in that span with two of them spanning 13 plays and covering 70 plus yards and both resulted in touchdowns and the Vikings really just got out to a quick start offensively on that first drive got the lead and never really looked back while the Eagles defense struggled to stop them early however things were almost completely different as safety Tristan McCullum actually got a pick on that first drive and had a really good return on the play to set the Eagles up in good field position but unfortunately though that play was wiped out by the Eagles second round rookie Cooper de jeene as he had a pretty bad and obvious illegal contact penalty on the play that negated it so that's certainly a learning moment for Koop and one that I'm sure the coaches are going to emphasize and try to make sure it doesn't happen again and this wasn't the only somewhat unideal moment for CP in his debut as there were certainly some moments where he was beaten coverage or he just didn't quite execute the play well enough but overall aside from those things it honestly was a pretty promising debut for deene as he made several nice plays throughout the course of the game including getting five tackles from the nickel position which also included one tackle for loss on the running back on a nice Blitz that he had as deene played the run pretty well all day and he also even was credited with the pass break up at one point so again it definitely was a good overall debut for deene and after the game Nick serani gave his initial thoughts on cp's performance and for the most part he had positive things to say yeah you know obviously I would you always got to go back and look at the tape and see exactly it's hard to take make assessment of how somebody played based off tape you can always have an idea of some of the splash plays that they've made uh and you know I saw him make a couple of really good plays I thought he looked fast uh and physical out there um made a couple tackles that I thought were really good made a made a had a penalty that were going to want back that negated a um an interception on the first drive so um but it was good to get him out there and playing meaningful snaps uh see me you know seeing that he hadn't you know played this this preseason again I thought there were some good things there's going to be some things to clean up uh and uh but it was good to have him out there because he's talented and um and we're excited about his his potential yeah I mean if you watch the game you can clearly see that CP is a very talented player and he's also one with a lot of upside just due to the traits and athleticism that he possesses and given more time it's clear he can become a very good player in this league and let's not forget the guy's a rookie who missed the back half of his college season with an injury last year and then he missed most of the training camp with a hamstring injury so not only has he gone up a level from college to the pros but he's also had to take on the challenge of just learning a new system and getting acclimated in vic fangio's defense while also rehabbing from an injury that's no joke all while not playing in an actual football game since November so he obviously wasn't just going to come out right away and be dominant in the preseason it was always going to take some time for him to get into the swing of things and adjust but once he does I'm pretty confident that he's going to be awesome especially after what I saw from him in his debut despite the circumstances and hearing what CP said after the game makes me even more confident that he's going to get better as despite having a promising debut he mainly focused on the negatives and what he can improve on was all right it was all right um you know still you know a lot lot of things lot of things to learn from you know you go back watch the tape um you know just a couple Miss tackles that I remember um you know so just got to just got to be got to be better got got to stick on guys better as well um you know but just there lot to learn you know we got a got a great group of guys that to learn from Z yeah that to me sounds like a guy who's hungry and willing to do whatever it takes to get better and I just cannot wait to see what deene turns into for the birds this season and in his career moving forward cuz I truly do think that he can be a playmaker for this defense for years to come but Dee wasn't the only Eagle to have an impressive performance in the team's final preseason game as several guys made very strong cases as to why they should make the final roster and don't worry we're going to get into that and so much more in just a minute but real quick I do want to say if you are enjoying this into the video so as I was saying there's a few more guys who had really impressive showings for the Eagles in the preseason finale and they may just end up making the roster or the practice squad because of it now one of those guys his linebacker Ben van soman as the seconde on drafted man at of Michigan state has improved drastically in his short time in the NFL and his hard work paid off first the Vikings as he had six tackles in the game five of them solo and he also had two tfls as there were a couple occasions where he had great recognition and flew into the back field to make a play and then he also had a sack at one moment where he absolutely crushed quarterback Matt caral so his performance in this game plus the fact that he's had a good camp makes me believe that he's well on his way to making the roster but another linebacker that might have a bit of a harder time but surely made his case in this game was Orin Burks as despite missing most to training camp with an injury Burks wasted no time making his presence felt in this game getting seven tackles five solo a tackle for loss and also a sack and if you watch this game I mean he was definitely just one of those guys that you could clearly see making an impact and it's very apparent that the guys played a lot of football now the challenge with him making the team would be that he missed so much time and the Eagles might actually surprisingly have a deep linebacker room so the Eagles certainly will have some tough decisions to make when roster cut down Su day comes around on Tuesday which is something that Nick siani echoed in his postgame press conference it's a deep it's a deep room um I'm really um I think that's been a fun room to kind of watch play out of you know uh comp uh competition uh because I think there's been there's there's guys at the top there's guys in the middle there's guys that you think would be at the back end they've all really competed well um and so you know we got some tough decisions to make uh and this is never never a fun time here at this at this particular time um but you but you've been preparing for it right the entire time everything's everything's evaluated so that's a deep room and uh naturally you can't keep keep all the guys and you keep the guys that that you can because you know I know and I know all those guys can help us win football games it's certainly going to be a tough decision regarding guys in the bubble like Burks like van suer and that both played really well in this game I mean I personally think both deserve a spot but I also know there's only so many roster spots to go around so I guess we'll see here soon if they end up taking the cut and same goes for safety Tristan McCullum who was also great in this game he actually led the team in tackles with nine and had a pass break up and really all PR preseason I mean McCollum has been very very good at the safety position and I think he has probably earned himself a spot with just how he's played in these games and then you got wide receiver Paris Campbell who's in a similar position trying to earn a roster spot and he's a guy who missed a ton of time during training camp with an injury then he came back recently and played in this game and he did look good but just with all the time that he's missed there is really no guarantee that he makes it and it's going to be tough for him to find find a spot with just all the depth the Eagles have at wide receiver especially after the trade for Jan Dodson but again I guess we'll see on Tuesday and that applies to all the guys who have made plays in the preseason but just still aren't guaranteed spots on the roster so I mean things are definitely about to be crazy on cutdown day there's going to be some surprising names that the Eagles move on from so again make sure you guys subscribe and turn on notifications so you don't miss any coverage from that but now switching over to a guy who is a lock to make the roster but isn't exactly impressing Eagles fans lately we look at Nolan Smith who was one of the only guys who we expect to actually see a lot of this year that played during this game and he played a lot at that and he didn't have too much to show for it either registering just one tackle and no sacks despite playing for a large portion of the game so this definitely didn't do much to dispel the concerns or doubts people have been having about Nolan Smith recently as despite having a sack in each of the last two preseason games the overall tape and grades on Smith just haven't been great and some fans have actually even started to throw around the term bust when it comes to him since he was drafted in the first round and with that comes high expectations now I just want to go on record and say that personally I think that's pretty ridiculous just because I mean he's only been in the league for a little over a year now and he hasn't even played enough for us to make that call yet that being said though I do understand the concern as people want to see him taking steps forward in his game in a year 2 and just adding new things to his pass rushing repertoire and making more plays and so far it really doesn't seem like he's done that so what do you guys think are you concerned about Nolan Smith or do you just think he needs more time you guys can let me know your thoughts down in the comments now as far as the preseason finale itself goes that's kind of it but that also wasn't the only thing that happened on Saturday as new wide receiver Jan doson spoke to the media for the first time since being traded to the Eagles and he talked about a lot including his initial reaction to the trade and it sounds like he's pretty excited was a shock you know um just because you know all I know in the NFL is Wasington commanders um but you know at the end of the day you know it's a business um and I understand that very much so and um you know it all happens so fast and you don't kind of get to react to it but you know I would say being out here today and being on the field and kind of taking the field and taking it all in a little bit um you know I'm I'm very excited it got me like I got goosebumps leaving the field today uh just because you know Philly growing up only an hour and hour and a half away from here um you understand the passion um you understand how much people care about the Eagles uh so you know seeing the fans go crazy literally after a third preseason game um it it it was exciting it got me a little a little excited uh to to here so again it's just great to hear that doson is excited and also pretty awesome that he's already feeling a Philly Love after being on the sidelines during the preseason finale and doson also has good reason to be excited just joining a team as talented as the Eagles and with as high of expectations as they have and especially with as talented of an offense as they have that he will now be a part of and even though he obviously isn't going to be as big of a focal point in the offense with just all the other mouses defeat that the Eagles have it seems like he's just looking forward to adding to the talent and contributing in any way that he can by doing anything possible to help this team win uh get in where I fit in um and make the most of my opportunities make the most of my role uh getting to know my role right away um I I don't know what that's going to be yet uh I just got here a couple days ago but uh yeah like you said we have a lot of weapons um and I look that I look at that as a great thing um you know we we have a lot of people who can make a lot of plays uh so it's going to be fun I've never in all of my years of playing I never been on a team with this much talent so I'm I'm not only excited to play with them I'm excited to learn uh because we have a lot of great guys in the locker room uh from top to bottom uh so I'm really excited for the opportunity I mean this kind of goes back to everything I've been saying about this trade being that not only will he be able to fit right in with these other super talented guys and contribute in his role but he's also going to be able to learn from everyone around him and develop into an even better player so for anyone concerned about any of Dotson's past struggles while I do understand it I'd also say watch out for him to get even better while in this Eagles culture and just playing with these super talented guys and also to just take advantage of opportunities while not being as much of a focal point in the offense oh and also look forward to him absolutely just destroying the commanders in the two games against them this year as despite him being excited about being an eagle and understanding that it's a business and all that he also made it clear that when the Eagles play the commanders this year he's going to be taking it personally um it was kind of just something that happens you know uh these things happen all the time in the NFL um you know so I didn't I didn't I'm not going to take it personal until I see Washington uh but you know I'm it's exciting I'm excited to be here um I I can't wait to to put on the the black and green um and I can't wait to get to work now obviously any athlete playing their former team is going to have a little extra motivation to play well but doson might have even more reason to want revenge as a recent report did come out from ARA pulley on Twitter saying that the commanders had told doson just two days before the trade that they wouldn't be trading him and that doson was quote shocked by the deal which he then reiterated in his press conference on Saturday so that's definitely interesting now pulley is not a mainstream media Source by any means he just has a little over 2,000 followers on Twitter and he's definitely not a go-to source for all your NFL news that being said though he is an NFL source that has been writing in the past about different things so take this for what you will but all I got to say is if this is in fact true and if the commanders did tell him they weren't trading him and then they did he has all the reason in the world to feel some type of way and to want to prove his former team wrong for their decision so whether it's shredding them on the field this season or it's just going crazy against different team for the birds this year and having a big year statistically himself we'll see if doson is able to get his revenge on the commanders and I personally just cannot wait to watch him in an eagles's uniform now the Eagles obviously got roster cut down day on Tuesday and then of course the regular season's going to start up in just 2 weeks and I'm going to be covering everything from all
