🔴LIVE MLB🔴Cincinnati Reds VS New York Mets/ September 07/MLB Envivo/ MLB the show 24

so just about set now and on the hill a soft tossing Lefty just like you Chris Jose kintana what do we need to know here anytime you have five pitches to work with on the mound that repertoire can be a real weapon in terms of keeping hitters off balance man it's it's one of those things that I'm going to be looking for in this one does he have a feel for all of those pitches or is he just able to get one or two over in the strike zone where he wants now it's tough to do to be able to command all those pitches but if he can he is going to be very tough for the opponent today Matt mlan the leadoff batter as he looks at ball one the pitch Now One Missed the wide to the [Applause] pitch and a breaking ball drops in for a [Applause] strike next pitch is outside really good take especially with two strikes ground ball Alonzo and he takes it himself for the out here's the lineup for the Reds the challenge for him today singy elevating the baseball against this Sinker baller that's on the mound yeah that's the challenge but it also might affect the way they approach base running in this one boo you get a runner on first you anticipate trajectory down and when the ball's in the dirt with a good secondary lead you break for second so whether it's a stolen base or not you stay out of the double play get that runner in a score position and that can help you put more runs on the board b ball in dirt [Applause] [Applause] one down base is empty fights that one away and the count remains 0 and [Music] two and down on strikes he goes and they're two down oh just a beautiful fast ball on the inside corner for that backwards k right there I think the hitter saw it all the way coming from that opposite arm angle so I got to think he was looking look in away and just got locked up by the hard stuff boring in on his hands Spencer steer the next to hit takes ball one two out space is empty and it's foul away [Applause] the wine of the pitch BS it off still one and two next offering misses down and away swing and a miss got him to go up the ladder for the K Reds go down quietly now the Mets will step up for their first shot in a scoreless ball game you're watching Major League Baseball on the show back here with my pal singy and today's starting pitcher hunter green well just a three- pitch mix in his Arsenal which you know it's not a lot for a starter so always very important for him to have a good feel and command all three sometimes you can make that three look like four if you add or subtract a little bit of velocity on one but you know one thing about it it can be easy to get twoo predictable out there on the mound so hitters are aware of that mixing those three pitches in all counts is going to be a big key for him in this one and now the count is [Applause] even swing and that ball smashed on the line and a base hit right there so Runner a board to start the inning man those are the types of hits where you don't feel any vibration in your hands whatsoever such a good feeling absolutely hammered that baseball very loud coming off the bat 107 was the exit velocity and at that speed it's going to be a great result more often than not jack mcneel stands in that one close rulle the ball and it's w to know runner at first with no outs [Applause] here base knock center field throw back in quickly first and second now with nobody out these hitters today are so great with handling velocity they're seeing high speeds day after day and a nice job of turning that one around here's Francisco Lindor pitch misses inside one and0 singy maybe some nerves get the best of him in the first well it's hard to know exactly if it's nerves or not but he just doesn't have it right now those hitters on the other side they're going to say it's nerves and use that as a Competitive Edge to try to jump on him even more next offering misses two balls no strikes just missed Pete Alonzo waiting to hit for the Mets and a four pitch walk oh that sets up a really big at bat in this game these are the moments when everyone in the stadium gets really locked in base is loaded nobody out Pete Alonzo now at the plate first pitch and he just misses [Applause] nmo the runner at third mcneel on second Lindor on at first with nobody out and a pop up right side foul territory squeezes it and there's one down all right let's take a look at the lineup this is a veteran Le lineup right here lot of players with plenty of experience singing yeah no doubt about that boo these guys have been around the game for a long time and they may not have the flash that they once did but they've got the wisdom to be able to understand different situations be able to think with the opponent and sometimes in front of the opponent and you always seem to see a team like this they come to the ballpark they know how to get down to business and they understand what the job is at hand Here Comes El one see the velocity 97 with that fast ball left field base hit one run is in and they hold the runner at third bases remain loaded here still only one gone well he wasn't afraid to hit with two strikes I think he choked up a little bit maybe spread out but he got the job done right there so base is loaded with one away so now here's the Mets DH DJ Stewart and that one fouled off well all eyes on the double play ball in this spot no better way to get out of this inning one out B is full next offering is in for a strike I think ultimately you want to tie him up get the ball in on the plate so that he can't get the barrel to it and hit it to the Outfield lined into left Center should be extra bases one runs in now a second crosses the plate coming home he's in there three run score and it's four nothing backto back base hits anytime you can drive a ball into the Gap the other way it feels so good and that's when you know you're right where you need to be at the plate it's even better when it gets you extra bases got to love looking in at your Dugout and seeing your teammates fired up Francisco Alvarez up now for the Mets and that's off the Inside Edge ball one well it's not the inning he was planning on to begin this start but you've got to find a way to shake things off and give your team some length and put up some zeros right-hander kicks deals still only one out here in the inning fast ball for a strike out there on the mount he's setting the tone early with the fast ball 98 milph up on the scoreboard swing and a miss slider right there that one missing inside he's been trying to tease the Zone with that slider but these hitters have showed patience not going outside the strike zone man it's second Good played appearance there able to take the walk two walks in the first has to be some cause for concern I mean you're talking about a guy you want to pitch deep into the ball game it's not going to help with the pitch count right there they can't afford to hand out free bases at this rate there's a swing and a drive and that one hops the wall one run is in now two runs scored it's six nothing well that started and ended pretty quickly no messing around right there I love the approach he had right there with that pitch not trying to do too much but still looking to drive it and that's exactly what he's able to to do into the opposite field gap for the double new pitcher for the Reds Brent suder I think it's got to be a little tough coming in out of the pin when you're guys are trailing so big on the scoreboard just doesn't have the same intensity to it but he's got to find a way because these batters count the same for his stats obviously regardless of the score one out runner at second Harrison Bader up now for the Mets [Applause] right through there for a [Applause] strike next offering is in for a strike I understand you want to try to gauge that guy's fast ball but you also have to be aggressive and ready to hit in your zone now you're in a tough spot here comes a pitch that misses going to count one and two it's a good take bounce to third he gets there with the slide the throw and they get the outo so the lineup flips over and next for the Mets Brandon nmo singled and scored his first [Applause] time he swings and fouls one off BTY at second with two down that one finds the zone and the count is 0 and two hit in the air center field and that'll fall for a base hit the Run comes in from second it's seven to nothing well done drives in the Run he clearly didn't catch that one on the big part of the bat just kind of muscled it out there and you know on the mound it can be pretty frustrating for a pitcher but you just kind of have to expect those to drop in there sometimes two outs runner at first here's the second baseman Jeff mcneel one for one with a single and a run scored so far first pitch doesn't find the [Applause] zone now snap throw to first it's low and gets away two outs to third that's a [Applause] hit throw in holds the lead runner at second two on now with two away two consecutive base hits for this team just found a way to slap that ball down the third Baseline that's really excellent back control and it kind of goes back to all those drills you see hitters do off the te where it's placed in different spots that was just nice Francisco Lindor comes up to the [Applause] plate two on two outs popped up to the left into foul ground candelario drifts towards it he's got it and that's the third out but they take the lead on a huge seven run out burst we go on to inning number two it's the Mets seven and the Reds nothing and we're back and now the veteran third baseman jamer candelario he's got pop which is a little sneaky because he's so comfortable with taking his base hits to the opposite field but he can jump you if you make a mistake and first off ring is fouled off well every pitcher wants run support and having a lead is nice but it can be challenging for some pitchers I think keeping the mindset to attack instead of trying to be too fine and have too much finesse go after hitters and get quick outs o and two now this one popped up foul ground first Bas side brings it in and there's a one away Jonathan India the plate that one out to right pulls it down and he makes the catch two [Applause] down Jake Frey the next to hit for the Reds [Applause] two down nobody on strike two this guy's pounding this Zone hitters don't have time to think in between [Applause] pitches the Mets up big in this one here at the top of the second and the o02 gets a piece and stays alive kicks andos bows it back with two strikes the2 got him and it's a three up three down inning and one two two three go the Reds not going their way it's 7 nothing bottom half of inning number two here's Pete Alonzo well boo it didn't take very long for Alonzo to set the home run record here at City Field he passed Lucas Duda for the top spot in June of 2023 the pitch and takes low for ball one in the air right field brings it in and there's one down theing here's Starling Marte in the air to left Center makes a nice grab at a full Sprint two away and here is DJ Stewart one for one with a double and a run score there's a [Applause] strike the Lefty fires pitch misses there one and two the count and a foul ball he stays alive two outs knocks that one away and we'll do it again the wind to kick the pitch and that's downstairs and outside the only adjustment he needs to make is his Target if you aim at the outside corner that slider is going to end up way off the plate perhaps look a little more down the middle and you get it right where you want it ninth pitch of the atat do next got him looking and he didn't like the call and the Mets go down one two three and they hold a s nothing lead top half of the third inning and here's the first baseman Christian and carosio strand as he turns on the rubber with that good live arm delivers and first offering is fouled off and corosion strand measures 6 feet even 24 years old and he was drafted in the fourth round in 2021 the pitch that's off the mark and it's one and two [Applause] swings through that one it's a strike out well that's always the key to effective pitching is getting ahead in the count and as a pitcher it really allows you to start expanding The Zone hitters become defensive and all of a sudden that plate starts to get really wide and what happens is because of the pressure you end up committing to a pitch as a batter before you recognize what it is and that's what leads to the strikeout the two out bace is empty and now the center fielder will Benson and that's in there at the knees check swing he held up one and one right side hard hit over to First and it's a one two3 inning nobody left for Cincinnati they continue to Trail 7 nothing as we go to the last of the third here's the catcher Francisco Alvarez the pitch liner saged it first he put a really good swing on that pitch and hit the ball hard you know line drives won't always find a hole but the more you can hit the ball like that with good exit below the better off you're going to be in the long run so up next for New York Brett batty a double and a run scored his first time up bottom of the zone and a called strike movement in the bullpen Ian Jabo loosening up for Manager David Bell and he grounds one to to the right side sends it to First and two straight set down to begin the bottom of the third good armide run to that same side hitter right there very difficult to put that ball in the air or get through it just bores in on the hands now at the plate Harrison Bader 0 for one he grounded out in his first at bat fast ball for a strike it's 0 and one well the key to his success is getting ahead early in the count he cannot afford to go deep into counts doesn't have a ton of swing and Miss stuff so he's going to have to work efficiently not in time he's safe well an eror like that you look at the scoreboard and you kind of wonder if they are losing focus out there and look it it can be tough to stay locked in when you're getting blown out we've all been there and I'm not saying that's definitely what happened on this play but it's not a great look here's Brandon nmo [Applause] [Applause] that Clips The Zone strike one Bader off of first with two away [Applause] swing and that's ripped towards Right Center Frey makes the play that is the inning Mets leave one but they're still in control it's 7 nothing back here at City Field now it's the second baseman Matt mlan Matt mlan kintana back to work and that's off the Inside Edge and that's ball one well he's so great about hitting the ball the other way he gets those arms extended so right there just trying to straighten him up Fly ball down the line this has got a chance and it is [Applause] foul swing at a bouncer and it goes just [Applause] foul a little bit high ball two got it by him for the k a pretty good break on the curveball right there maybe not as down in the zone as he would have liked but deceptive enough to get that swing and miss and if you don't catch that pitch out front on the barrel it bears in on you pretty [Music] hard Ellie De La Cruz the next to hit for the [Applause] Reds there's a strike you can feel the extra tension on Ellie any time he comes to the plate this guy's a player that keeps you on the edge of your seat because you don't know what he's going to do next he can hit for power steals bases he can throw the ball 100 miles hour across the infield he's electric swing and a ground ball up the middle that's a base hit so a man aboard now with one away Bo I don't think that pitch would have been called to strike but he did such a nice job of pulling his hands tight to the body and just getting enough of the barrel on it to be hard enough back up the middle for a knock one gone runner at first Spencer steer Runner around the go strike in there and that's a stolen base not even close you don't usually see teams try to claw back into games by being aggressive on the base pass like this but it's still early in this one this kind of tells me they're going to try to tackle this one one run at a time instead of waiting back for a big three-run Homer man it's second ground ball right side and that's just foul and that's in dirt runner at second here one [Applause] gone swing and a miss struck him out now couldn't hit the fast ball at the knees he had him out in front which isn't easy to do against a hitter like this known for using the entire field just couldn't sit back long enough on that one in now for the Reds jamer candelario he popped out his first time that's a strike across the top of the zone [Applause] and there's a foul [Applause] ball and the pitch and a swing and a miss and that's that ready to go bottom four now the number two hitter Jeff mcneel and a pitch that misses the Zone ball one well these Mets really producing with Runners on it's been a right place right time kind of game for him they put a bunch of runs on the board thanks in large part to four hits with runners in scoring position and a gr ball to First and cardion strand takes it to the bag lead off hitter retired in the fourth Francisco Lindor Francisco Lindor to the plate now fans love him but he's pretty popular with the players too he certainly is Boo a player survey on mlb.com listed him as one of the friendliest infielders to chat with during a game I'm sure he appreciates the recognition from his peers the pitch this to center field Benson On The Move he's got it there's two away on top of that they haven't left many guys on base so they've been efficient getting Runners on and finding ways to bring them home two outs base is empty and next will be the Mets cleanup hitter Pete Alonzo Outfield playing very deep not wanting anything over their heads that pitch gets the corner and it's O and [Applause] one highfly ball down the left field line that one back there gone and they tack on to their lead it's eight nothing it's no surprise this guy has won the Home Run Derby multiple times he was born to hit [Applause] him well I'm sure there's a big grin on his face right now boo he's probably had some of those that didn't stay fair but off the bat it looked like it was going to been foul was able to keep it in there tucked it nicely and he gets the jog around the base is good for him Starling Marte up to h and a foul ball one run acrossing the frame so far we're here in the bottom of the fourth just off the outside edge now two balls in a strike and strike two and that skips into dirt and he deals deep drive down the line foul ball three balls two strik the count and he walked him that's a great at bat he saw a lot of pitches and earned a walk one of the things about that two out walk the base runner over at first base is going to have a very aggressive secondary lead so a ball down the line or an into the Gap will produce a two out RBI and those are the best that is if you are the offensive side of it step off throw to first Marte gets back easily Stewart stands in now looks at that one [Applause] inside next offering pop foul off to the right out of play that's through there for a strike got him looking for the K froze him with the heater at the knees a Pete Alonzo Blast for the Mets it's now an8 nothing game it's Major League Baseball on the show and welcome back to the ballpark top five John shabi with Chris Singleton and leading it off Jonathan India and the pitch and that's outside and that's ball one clearly down in this ball game and you can't look at the deficit and try to get it all back in one swing it's got to come one at bad at a time and even shrink it down smaller pitch to pitch make that guy on the mound work to get you out and here it comes just missed [Applause] next pitch misses and it's three and two he's really tightening up his Hitting Zone with two strikes here I love it hammers that one curling down the line and foul and a pitch fouled off again and it remains three and two the pitch on the ground out to short tosses to first so it was a long battle at the plate but they still manag to get the out well he's doing a nice job of keeping the ball out of the air lets the defense work behind him with another ground ball good execution Jake Frey the next to hit for the Reds caught looking his first time up up just missed the Reds with a lot of ground to make up and we're at the top of the fif next offering is fouled back leftand batter weights high in the air out to right Marte going after it makes the catch out number two maybe caught that one off the end just a little bit couldn't quite Barrel it up enough to really drive it two outs bace is empty next for Cincinnati Christian and carosio strand struck out swinging his first time that one finds the Zone going one sliced hard but foul two down nobody on swing and a miss struck him out reds down in order and they're on the short end of an eight nothing score we head to the bottom of the fifth here's the catcher for the Mets Francisco Alvarez the wi to the pitch and a good eye there well these Mets putting together some really good at bats in this game there's been a lot to like with how they're approaching their chances at the plate it looked to me like they really wanted to get to the starter early get him out of the game before he settles in so I'd say mission accomplished here comes a pitch on the ground right side gets to it with a slide fires to first and that's a great play for the out well boo as an infielder you have to be ready for anything in that spot it required going to the ground getting a little dirty and making a strong throw for the out great play Brett batty up now for the Mets close one doesn't get the call one and0 [Applause] struck Him Out Swinging chase the fast ball up the ladder for strike three and stepping in for New York Harrison Bader you're talk about Elite defensive players especially in the middle of the diamond and this guy is at the top of the list there's the Sinker at the knees for a right yeah we go beyond just the you know Fielding percentage and you know what it looks like but the ability to have a range and you know close holes that you know are normally there against an average Defender but this guy is special and you can see it in his first step quickness and that one hammered giving Chase hops over the wall and that's an automatic double that ball exploded off his bad and off the warning track as well as it bounced over the fence it sounded really good good too he just put together a really nice swing and just missed a home run and now here is Brandon Nimo first pitch just misses hog and the one thing about that is speed never goes in a slump and defense shouldn't either hitting wise you can struggle you can lose your mechanics but the thing that you can do consistently every single game is play great defense if you're talented in that way and this is what this guy does [Applause] the other way and foul ball man on second two down keeps the back going with a foul ball wouldn't chase that time runner at second two down last half of inning number [Music] [Applause] five kicks and fires swings and BL last one deep to left Center that's down one hops Off the Wall runner from second scores as they add on and they now lead by nine couldn't have timed it up any better than that man that feels so good to shoot an absolute Bolt the opposite way split the Gap and know that you've got extra bases right off the bat that's the kind of thing hitters dream about when they're falling asleep at night and in scored position with two away Jeff mcneel up now for the Mets and first offering is fouled off nmo stands at second with two gone right through there for a strike that front door slider such a devastating pitch you don't want to get beat by the inside fast ball so you cheat a little bit and then by the time it gets there it's out of the Swing plane two outs puts it in the air out towards left Center he gets down a base head the Run comes in from second it's 10 nothing picks himself up in RBI High fast ball even a little above the Zone but such a good job of staying tall on the backside get that Barrel there so a new arm out of the bullpen for the Reds in jaibo well they need someone to stop the bleeding and keep the score right where it is seems like a tough task today with the way this lineup is swinging it runner at first with two away Francisco Lindor up now for the Mets Lind just [Applause] missed outside two and0 oh he's really working him away this bat sometimes take a little bit off velocity try to get a roll over something on the ground stay away from that big hole on the right side of the infield and a pop off right side foul territory great catch foul ground up against the wall two runs three hits no erors and one left five innings complete it's the Mets 10 and the Reds nothing and we're back all right we go to the top half of inning number six and now the catcher comes up to hit Tyler Stevenson just [Music] missed next offering is in for a [Applause] strike and now the Lefty and that one missing low ripped to right base hit and the lead off man aboard only two hits allowed so far tonight boo so I don't think that one will disrupt his momentum all that much you know he's really been on top of his game commanding his pitches all night long so a man aboard will Benson getting ready to hit ground it out his first time outside corner there's a strike Benson 25 years old and they went out and made a trade for him last season left-and hitter weits the Reds with a lot of ground to make up and we're the top half of the sixth so a foul ball makes it one and [Applause] two the pitch right through there got him and that's the first out well he's been racking up the strikeouts and what's so impressive not walking anyone I mean this guy's just going right after hitters filling up the strike zone and it looks like hitters they're trying to think with him but they just are a pitch behind dominating stuff out there on the [Applause] mound mlan up for the third time and takes ball one right through there for a strike at the belt and fires this one in the air right field Marte hauls it in and there's two [Applause] away man at first and ready to hit now for Cincinnati Ellie De La Cruz one for two just off the outside edge next pitch is outside swing and a ball popped up should have this one and that'll do it so another good inning for him on the mound six shut out Innings now it's the Mets 10 and the Reds nothing bottom of the sixth inning here's some real power at the plate Pete Alonzo the wine of the pitch and the 01 line drive base Hill man aboard on the leadoff single didn't exactly square that one up but sometimes you don't have to just a solid swing right there caught it out front and ripped it into the outfield for the base hit those always feel great and now the right fielder Starling Marte ripped on a line no trouble here puts it away for the out and there's one down so now the DH spot DJ Stewart look out and it hit him boo you have any memorable hit by pitches yourself maybe high school college no but I almost did get decapitated by a foul ball at old Tiger Stadium Alvarez now at the plate as he swings through strike one good pitch right there anytime you can get one by a bat of this caliber especially with Runners on it's got to give you some confidence out there on the mound that you can win this battle two on one out that one ripped can't get to it as it drops into the corner one run across now the throw comes in runner holds it third comes through with the RBI put a very nice swing on that pitch right there got one to drive and just kept it fair down that right field line and into the corner in it's almost impossible to track those down as an outfielder so one out with two aboard Brett batty up now for the Mets one for three swinging a foul straight back [Applause] and that's outside and it's a ball a [Applause] strike swing and a miss and that's strike two one two now fights it off you'll see [Applause] another off the plate the count now two and [Applause] two well hit the other way that one going back and foul well pitcher's probably thinking he's a little late on that pitch so what I'm going to do is I'm going to speed him up not give him something off speed that he can handle spoils that one and it remains two and two swings through it and that's a strike out typically that high fast ball if it's close to the top of the the strike zone a hitter if he's prepared for it can get to it but that one just had that little jump at the end which indicates there's a good spin rate on it and it didn't decrease in velocity as that hitter's internal clock would expect it to and that's why you see the swing and Miss Vader in the box now no balls in a strike and that one fouled off swing and a miss and he's down on strikes good job at damage control right there two men left stranded but they do push across one seventh inning coming up it's the Mets 11 and the Reds nothing we go to the top of the seventh now the left fielder Spencer steer kintana back to work just [Applause] missed next offering is in for a strike big a bat right here he did the team thing took until he got a strike now he's got to go to work shorten up that swing a little bit do whatever it takes to get on B face next pitch misses inside and it's two and one hit hard that gets [Applause] through couldn't get any air under it but he smoked that ball back up the middle timing was just perfect got great wood on it and there's just no chance for the infielders with how hard he hit it so digging in jamer candelario struck out on just three pitches last time right through there for a strike well the late off man gets on you want to minimize the threat by playing sound defense hopefully the pitcher can get a ball on the ground and they can roll him up for two the Mets up big in this one here in the top half of inning number seven good in that spot definitely a frustrating day for the offense but when they look at it this guy's had his best stuff been painting the corners working on the edges and changing speeds just a difficult one you tip your [Applause] cap Scorch to Center no doubt about it that is long gone he circles the bases it's 11-2 when you're lacking velocity it's so critical that you move the ball around change speeds even try to trick the hitter at times but when you give up a home run right there manager doesn't have a lot of patience because the velocity is not there to overcome and get the swing a miss and next is the designated hitter Jonathan India swinging a foul back that's out of play the wi in the pitch activity in the bullpen PGE Lopez appears to be getting loose Smith getting loose as well that one not close now one and two bounce to the right he takes it on his own one away that ground ball may have him back on track after the home run Jake Frey the next to hit for the Reds and first off ring is fouled off and that's downed away and a foul ball one out base is empty battling here as he fouls it away another one two and they'll do it again well he's desper really looking for that swing and Miss he's going to have to just change speeds a little bit try to move it around create just a little bit of Illusion at the end swing and a highfly ball out there towards left field and puts the squeeze on that one two down Christian inaros strand the next to hit for the Reds who's over for two with a pair of strikeouts now this is in the air down the line Marte sizing this one up and makes the grab and that'll do it Cincinnati plates a pair on this Homer Midway and inning number seven and it's time to stretch you're watching Major League Baseball exclusively on the show back here in Queens set for the last half of the seventh here's the Mets leadoff man Brandon nmo the wi the kick the pitch and immediately pumps in a strike to the left-handed hitter well that bat can be a little bit of a dance strike one here but few more pitches we'll see how it turns out that's ripped to right down the line and that's a fair ball makes the turn and heads for second and he's got a double fourth hit of the night form well that's how you respond leadoff man comes up gets in the scoring position now there are several ways that they can get this run across so man aboard and next for the Mets Jeff mcneel RBI knocked for him last time now a chance to drive in another run he swings and misses at the first pitch o and one and it's second up and in and and that is ball [Applause] one ground ball right side and it goes just foul no outs runner on second and there's a [Music] ball swing and a ball lined out towards Center Benson calls it in and there's one away Francisco L now up to hit Francisco Lindor almost drove one out of here last time up wied out to the warning track that one finds the zone and that's strike one and the righty deals all right now he may have not liked either of those first two pitches or agreed with the umpire's calls but at this point he's going to have to bear down and be ready to hit anything close to the Zone Feld two and that'll fall for a base hit into third now so Runners at the corners and one out and next will be the cleanup hitter Pete Alonzo he's already homered in this game foul ball there nmo on third Lindor over at first with one away misses inside and the count even one and [Applause] one outside good spot for the hitter definitely has the advantage in this count with Runners on look for him to be aggressive on this next pitch pickoff move to First Lindor back [Applause] easily two on one out that one misses and now three and one payoff pitch foul ball and it remains a Full Count Runners are at the corners one away he's got one already tonight I wouldn't be surprised if he pops another one here swings through it for the K had him out front for strike three well that's a curveball that people like to describe as a hammer or Uncle Charlie and you can see why it's not a looping slow curve he throws it hard and it gets plenty of bite on the end Marte in the box with two gone and takes a look at a called [Applause] strike pitch misses and the count as one and one Runners on first and third two away here the bottom of the seven out towards right center field mlan makes his way towards it makes the grab on the run and that ends the inning two left for the Mets and it remains an 11-2 ball game welcome back and a new arm of the mound to start the eth porge Lopez compared to some days this is a pretty low leverage appearance for him so he should be fairly free and easy out there still have to keep yourself sharp and attack the strike zone and here's the catcher Tyler Stevenson Tyler ston and a pitch and first off rang is fouled off Lopez he's made a name for himself as a very effective reliever but not really what you expect from a bullpen arm these days cuz he's not out there racking up KS outside low and that's ball one I think it's the deception and his ability to change arm angles and slots and give hitters different oh this ball is crushed into left field it's on its way and gone that'll fire up the Dugout it's 113 anytime you have a pitch down the middle of the plate the percentages go up for the hitter to do damage even if it's a pretty good Sinker like that one nice piece of hitting there at the [Applause] plate and now will Benson [Applause] and that drops in for a strike got to be clever too when you don't have that lights out stuff right absolutely and you got to know what you're able to do instead of focusing on what that hitter strength is stay with your strength and trust that you'll come out on top and that one ripped to left pulls it in for the out man that's one of those ADV bats where you have to remind yourself it's about the process he did everything right right there nothing to show for it but in your mind you have to convince yourself that it was a very good at bat action in the Mets Bullpen Jake dakman the veteran Southpaw is getting ready to come on if needed Now One Missed foul [Applause] ball rander kicks deals and a big swing and a miss good late sink on that fast ball out of the hand looks so good and then by the time he gets in The Hitting Zone hard to get the barrel to it makes the grab of their two out that'll drive you crazy as a hitter if you let it I mean he couldn't have hit that ball more on the screws than he did and yet he's got nothing to show for it hang with them I know the feeling and now Ellie de Cruz right through there for a strike two down nobody on and we're in the top of the eighth late with the swing there this guy's sink has so much drop at it it's almost like a split finger fast ball instead of just weak contct and balls on the ground he gets swings and misses and it finds its way through for a hit so a two out Knock keeps the inning alive so up next Spencer steer that misses the zone and it's one and no and a base hit up the middle throw stops the lead runner at second two on and two out seems like he got exactly what he was looking for right there smash that one through the infield for the knock when it's hit that hard it makes it very tough on the infielders to make any sort of play candelario stands in now and watches strike one Del Cruz over at second steer at first two out of the inning next offering is downstairs [Applause] two on two outs oh great stop gathers and throws nicely done for the out but a solo home run will at least get this closer to respectability last half of the eight e coming up back after this on the show back now new pitcher on the mount as we roll into the bottom of the eighth Sam mole and with the big deficit on the scoreboard he almost has to just put that out of his mind every outing match for relievers in their numbers but I think it's tough to get up for this type of appearance the same way you would for one in a close game now it's the DH DJ [Applause] Stewart the pitch fought off foul 01 now ball one there cut on and Miss struck him out and one out now oh really expanded the zone right there with that fast ball off the outside corner of the plate got him to chase it that's a tough one to lay off of because it's starts close to you and just continues to run away from you in that batters box so it's a really nice pitch with two strikes meanwhile activity in the bullpen Buck farmer preparing to come on if needed and he deals and a foul ball Bas is empty one away here the bottom half of the eighth inning line drive base [Applause] hit right there does a great job of staying the big part of the field man there are a lot of hits there one down here's the third baseman Brett batty not close with that one ball one man at first one [Applause] away that one a 95 missed up top two and one that's down and in [Applause] 3-1 now and a big swing and a miss knowing that the pitcher wants a ground ball double play opportunity here you've got to lay off pitches down in the zone right there swinging at that pitch that's a no no swing and a miss struck him out that's out number two here's the center fielder Harrison Bader oh he doesn't get the call ball one Kicks andal On The Ground the first lead and he's got it and that's a nice play to end the inning met strand one but still in command it's 113 and welcome back to the ballpark and now the DH Jonathan India Lopez a former Allstar 31 years old and he was born in in Puerto Rico and downstairs that one hit to right Marte makes the play one away he's two outs away Jake Frey the next to hit for the Reds [Applause] and that one's a little bit low and that's ball one right through there for a [Applause] strike and now the count one and two after the swing of the miss boo it looked like that curveball backed up on him and although it's a mistake it works out really good for the pitcher the hitters timed it up expects it to be to a certain spot and it just doesn't get there that one the other way and that's a base hit so they get a man aboard with a one out single he was all over that one just a really nice approach to shoot that line drive to the opposite field there's a lot of hard work and discipline that goes into getting a result like that at the plate doesn't come naturally for most hitters and now CHR and carosio strand Frey at first one [Applause] gone that one misses and the count is two and0 and that's in for a strike he's been able to go inside as well as outside of effectively working both sides of the plate in this at bat that one in for a strike two and two now just to submit mixes her slider right there it's a great pitch to hit if you can recognize it early and jump on it hard ground ball base now quick throw back in lead Runner holds it second with one gone well that'll make you feel good as a hitter right there I really like that swing man he didn't just push it the other way through the infield he drove it that way and it kind of makes me think was thinking opposite field as he stepped into the box got a pitch he liked and he got it done Stevenson batting with one down takes the strike one out Runners at first and second right-handed reliever and a foul ball he stays alive that one misses going to count one and two and that's iner well he might have to look for a different putaway pitch right here 2 two he's already seen the curveball couple of times in this at bat so might have it timed up and ready for it liner and that should be extra bases around third one run is in another scores two runs in on the play it's 115 everything came together for him nice line drive to the pul side right there but he didn't spin off of it that's the key you still have to extend through the baseball in order to hit a line drive like that the Mets with a new arm on the mound J de and he's got a nice lead to work with so he should come in throwing strikes attacking these hitters and now the center fielder will [Applause] Benson pitch misses there one and0 one out and a runner at second that one a little bit high and that's ball two that Clips a corner well struck left field Nemo going back on it HS it in on the warning [Applause] track Reds down to their final out here's the second baseman Matt mlan [Applause] and first off ring is fouled [Applause] off man on second two down stirring in the bullpen for the Mets shintaro fujinami up and throwing sends it to Center and that's going to do it he puts it away and that'll do it the Mets take this one in a blowout well this team was ready from the first pitch of the ball game swinging the bats scoring runs just very aggressive I feel like they set the tone and that tone created a momentum that took them all the way to the Finish Line nice win today 115 your final score for Chris Singleton and our entire outstanding crew here at MLB the Show I'm John chambi saying so long the final
