THRILLED TO BE WEARING CARDINAL AND GOLD. IT CAN BE A THANKLESS JOB, ONE THAT WHEN THINGS GO RIGHT, COULD OFTEN GO UNNOTICED. HE STARTED AT IOWA WESTERN, THEN WENT TO NEBRASKA AND IS NOW AT IOWA STATE, WHERE HE'S THE STARTING KICKER FOR THIS TEAM AND IS STARTING TO BUILD A LITTLE MOMENTUM AFTER HITTING A 56 YARD FIELD GOAL TO START THE SEASON AGAINST NORTHERN IOWA, HE HIT SOME BUMPS IN THE ROAD, BUT AGAINST OKLAHOMA STATE, HE FOUND HIS GROOVE AGAIN, HITTING A 51 YARD FIELD GOAL IN THE GAME AND WAS NAMED THE CONFERENCE'S SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK. IT'S SAFE TO SAY RIGHT NOW CONTRERAS HAS FOUND A HOME AND HE HAS A TEAM THAT HAS ALL THE CONFIDENCE IN THE WORLD. THEIR KICKER THIS IS SOMETHING THAT I'VE LOVED TO DO SINCE I WAS LITTLE AND JUST THE GAME OF FOOTBALL IN GENERAL IS HUGE AND, YOU KNOW, I COULD HAVE WALKED AWAY AND BEEN DONE A LONG TIME AGO, BUT IT'S JUST SOMETHING I SEE MYSELF DOING FOR A LONG TIME AND I DON'T EVER WANT TO STOP REALLY KNOWING THAT HE CAN MAKE THOSE KICKS IS, YOU KNOW, GOING TO, YOU KNOW, IT'S GREAT FOR US. SO, YOU KNOW, MOVING ON TO THIS WEEK, WE'RE GOING TO NEED A COUPLE OF THOSE. HE'S BROUGHT A SENSE OF MATURITY AND PROCESS OF HOW HERE'S WHAT IT TAKES TO BE SUCCESSFUL AT THIS LEVEL. AND I THINK THAT'S BEEN REALLY BIG FOR THAT SPECIALIST ROOM. BUT YEAH, HE'S BEEN NOTHING SHORT OF INCREDIBLE JUST FOR OUR FOOTBALL TEAM.
