THE MOST RECENT FARM BILL WAS SIGNED INTO LAW IN 2018. IT WAS EXTENDED THROUGH SEPTEMBER OF THIS YEAR. WE ARE EXPECTING IMPACTFUL WEATHER TODAY, SO LET'S GET RIGHT TO JON RIVAS. BREAKING DOWN THE HEADLINES AND WHAT WE SHOULD EXPECT AND WHAT THREATS ARE GOING TO BE OUT THERE. YEAH, WE'RE GOING TO BE LOOKING AT A LOT OF ACTIVITY LATER ON TODAY, NOT THROUGH THIS MORNING, BUT FOR THIS AFTERNOON. AND EVENING. SEVERE WEATHER THREAT DOES RETURN TO THE STATES. WE'RE GOING TO SEE WIDESPREAD STORMS FOR THIS EVENING. AND THEN AFTERWARDS THE HUMIDITY IS GOING TO DROP AS WE GO INTO YOUR LABOR DAY WEEKEND. SATELLITE AND RADAR. YOU CAN EVEN KIND OF SEE WHERE THE COLD FRONT CURRENTLY IS. OFF TO THE WEST, EVEN STARTING TO SEE A LITTLE BIT OF THE ACTIVITY FARTHER TO THE NORTH. AND WE'RE TALKING ABOUT NORTH OF MASON CITY, RIGHT ALONG THE IOWA MINNESOTA BORDER. NOT IN OUR AREA, BUT WE ARE GOING TO BE LOOKING AT THOSE RAIN CHANCES RETURNING AND ALSO THOSE STRONGER STORMS. WE'VE ALREADY LOOKED AT THIS. THE SEVERE WEATHER RISK, THAT SHADE OF YELLOW. THAT'S A TWO OUT OF FIVE CHANCE. ZOOMING I IN EXACTLY WHERE THISS GOING TO BE. SO AREAS LIKE FORT DODGE, JUUL, BOONE, AMES, EVEN MARSHALLTOWN JUST ON THAT FRINGE STILL GOING TO BE A CHANCE FOR THOSE STRONGER STORMS TO DEVELOP. AND ALSO FURTHER OFF TO THE WEST OF I-35 LIKE ROCKWELL CITY, STORM LAKE, ALGONA, WE'RE ALL GOING TO BE LOOKING AT THAT THREAT FOR SEVERE WEATHER AND WHAT WE'RE KEEPING AN EYE OUT FOR. STRONG WINDS AND LARGE HAIL WILL BE THE MAIN THREATS, ESPECIALLY THOSE STRONGER WINDS ABOUT 60 TO 70 MILE PER HOUR WINDS, WIND GUSTS, LOW TORNADO RISK. SO NOTICE IT'S NOT ZERO, BUT IT IS STILL GOING TO BE QUITE LOW AS WE GO THROUGH THE REST OF TODAY. HOUR BY HOUR, WE'RE DRY THROUGHOUT THE MORNING. NOT GOING TO SEE ANY ACTIVITY ONCE WE GET INTO THE AFTERNOON. 2:00 TO 4:00, WE COULD START TO SEE SOME ACTIVITY BEFORE THE COLD FRONT. WHAT I MEAN BY THAT IS RIGHT ALONG I-35. YOU'RE SEEING THOSE SHADES OF RED, SHADES OF YELLOW, THOSE ARE SHOWERS AND STORMS STARTING TO DEVELOP OFF TO THE WEST. YOU SEE THAT LINE OF STORMS? THAT'S THE COLD FRONT. SO THAT'S WHAT WE'RE SEEING BEFORE THE FRONT EVEN ENTERS OUR AREA. BUT WE'RE GOING TO SEE CLIMBING ACTIVITY BOTH WITH THE ISOLATED STUFF ALONG I-35 AND FURTHER OFF TO THE WEST AS WE GET TO AROUND FIVE AND 6:00. THAT'S WHEN IT STARTS TO ENTER OUR NORTHWESTERN COUNTIES, MAKING IT TO CENTRAL IOWA CLOSER TO AROUND THAT EIGHT 9:00 TIME FRAME. AND THEN CONTINUING TO MAKE ITS WAY FURTHER OFF TO THE EAST. SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS. WIDESPREAD DURING THIS TIME FRAME, EVEN AS WE GET INTO TONIGHT. THIS IS MIDNIGHT. WE'RE STILL WATCHING THAT ACTIVITY, BUT THAT SEVERE WEATHER THREAT REALLY DROPS OFF BY THAT TIME AND ESPECIALLY AS WE GO THROUGHOUT FRIDAY MORNING, LOOKING AT CLOUD COVER THROUGHOUT FRIDAY, SOME ISOLATED SHOWERS, BUT WE'LL HAVE DECREASING CLOUDS SETTING UP FOR A NICE FRIDAY AFTERNOON, A NICE WAY TO END THE WORKWEEK, RAIN TRACKER. IT'S GOING TO BE A DECENT DRINK OF WATER FOR US. 1 TO 2IN IS WHAT WE'RE EXPECTING, AND EVEN SOME SPOTS COULD BE EVEN SEEING A LITTLE BIT MORE THAN TWO INCHES. AS YOU CAN SEE ON YOUR SCREEN. JUST DEPENDS ON WHERE MULTIPLE ROUNDS OF THUNDERSTORMS TRACK OVER THE SAME AREA. SO WE ARE GOING TO BE LOOKING AT SOME HEAVY RAIN ALONG WITH THESE STRONGER THUNDERSTORMS. HERE'S YOUR EIGHT DAY FORECAST WEATHER IMPACT FOR THE AFTERNOON AND GOING INTO THE EVENING. AND EVEN FOR THE FIRST HALF OF OVERNIGHT FRIDAY, WE CALM THINGS DOWN. WE COOL DOWN AS WELL. HIGHS BACK IN THE 80S. ANOTHER DRY COLD FRONT PASSES OVER SATURDAY NIGHT, SETTING UP FOR EVEN COOLER TEMPERATURES SUNDAY. AND FOR YOUR LABOR DAY MONDAY. A LOT OFOF SUNSHINE TO LOOK FORWARD TO EVEN AS WE START OFF NEXT WEEK
