THE FIRE DEPARTMENT, THEY'VE ALREADY BEEN OUT HERE. THEY'VE ASSESSED THE DAMAGE AS WELL. AND THEN WE STOPPED BY BECAUSE WE SAW MR. LARRY OUT HERE AT HIS. HE WAS LEAVING HIS GARAGE. NOW, MR. LARRY, HOW LONG HAVE YOU LIVED HERE? FOUR YEARS. FOUR YEARS. SO YOU'RE ACCUSTOMED TO THIS WEATHER? YES. EVERY PALM LAKE IS FAMOUS FOR EVERY TIME LAKE PONTCHARTRAIN GETS HIGH, THE WATER QUITS DRAINING. AND WE FLOOD A LITTLE BIT. WERE YOU EXPECTING THIS TYPE OF FLOODING? YEAH. I'D ACTUALLY TAKEN EVERYTHTHINGN MY FIRST FLOOR AND RAISED IT UP THREE FEET OFF THE GROUND BECAUSE WE WERE EXPECTING 2 TO 4FT AND A FOUR FOOT SURGE PUTS A FOOT AND A HALF TO TWO FEET OF WATER HERE, WHICH IS WHAT IT DID. IT'S GONE DOWN ABOUT SIX INCHES. OKAY. THAT'S GOOD. HAS YOUR HOME TAKEN ON ANY WATER? THE THE FIRST FLOOR. THIS IS TECHNICALLY RAISED HOUSE. THE FIRST FLOOR WAS IN 2002. THE OWNER GUTTED IT. FIRST FLOOR. THEY DID THAT TO SEVERAL HOUSES OUT HERE. AND THEY REBUILT THEM AS TWO STORIES. SO THE FIRST FLOOR IS CONCRETE, NON-LIVING AREA. SO WHEN IT GETS WATER IN IT, YOU HOSE IT DOWN, DISINFECT IT. BUT NORMALLY WE DON'T HAVE ANY REAL PHYSICAL DAMAGE EXCEPT FOR THIS IS THE SECOND TIME MY GARAGE DOOR HAS BEEN BROKEN BECAUSE CARS ARE DRIVING THROUGH TOO FAST, PUSHING A FOOT HIGH WALL OF WATER AND IT BREAKS KICKS IN THOSE MIDDLE PANELS AND KICKED IT OFF THE RAILS. AND SO I'M TRYING TO GET IT ALL BENT BACK. SO I CAN AT LEAST SEAL IT UP. THANK YOU FOR TALKING TO US TODAY. WE HOPE THAT YOU GO AHEAD AND GET THAT TAKEN CARE OF. AND GUYS, THAT'S WHY WE.
