what's going on everyone Chris from picks.com here with your free pick in the Nevada versus SMU college football matchup going down Saturday August 24th 2024 just a reminder if you haven't already make sure you're subscrib to our Channel and smash that thumbs up and if you're looking for my Best Bets the games that I love including my daily $19 best bet head on over to pick dogs.com and click the premium picks tab at the top of the page but let's get to this one between Nevada and SMU and SMU making their ACC debut in 24 they come in after finishing the their last year in the AAC with a successful 11 and3 record their most wins in the season since 1982 they also won their first AAC title they they finished 80 in conference they beat two lane in the title game lost in the Fenway Bowl to Boston College but maybe SMU can get some Revenge this this season or down the road when they play uh Boston College in conference play but the thing for SMU now they come back and they're in in their debut ACC season they'll have Preston Stone back at quarterback he threw for almost 20 excuse me 3200 yards 28 touchdowns six interceptions last season I think for Prest and stone though all of his receivers are back Jake Bailey's back his leading receiver tight end RJ Maryland you know finished second in receptions he had seven touchdowns there's also a three-headed monster in the SMU backfield LJ Johnson Jaylen Knighton Kamar weaton and on defense well this unit pretty much stays intact from last year as well 10 of SMU 11 top tacklers returning I I think this is going to be a really really solid SMU team that's going to make some moves in 2024 on the other side though you've got Nevada who you know had disappointing Seasons under Ken Aken they finished two and 10 in back-to-back Seasons now Jeff Cho comes over from Montana State he turned Montana State into an FCS Powerhouse before taking over the defensive coordinator job at Texas over the last three seasons now Brandon Lewis is coming in as the incumbent starting quarterback cha perie he comes in from Florida State but he's hurt right now from what I've seen so whoever's going to be quarterback one is going to have their work cut out for them regardless of if it's Lewis now and Pie down the road or py whatever comes in whatever the story is going to be for Nevada you know they're going to have their work cut out for him all seven receivers that had at least 100 receiving yards last season with the wolf pack are no longer there so it's going to be basically starting over from the beginning now Nate Burson transfers in sorry Nate burlon comes in and is hopefully going to have a clean bill of health they're going to have a couple of uh solid running backs in Shawn dollar and Pat garwo in Nevada but I still think that that the deck is stacked against Nevada here I mean this is an SMU team that he yeah a big road game a big number for a road game to start the year but smu's team last year was a Powerhouse in conference you know I think that they just they beat up on teams left and right last year especially a lot better than what they're up against here eight of smu's wins last season of their EXC me eight of their last 11 wins last year came by 18 plus points and Nevada well last year they lost to Idaho an FCS team by 27 points at home so I'm going to go with SMU B in this one that's going to be my free pick but just a reminder if you haven't already make sure you're subscrib to our Channel and smash that thumbs up and if you're looking for my Best Bets you can find those at pick dogs premium while your pick dogs check out our betting tools they're 100% free they're the best betting tools in the business and tools that you want to make sure that you have in your back pocket when you're making your Best Bets for the day's action thanks for watching see you guys soon
