welcome to dowy fckin Stadium home to the East Carolina Pirates where the purple has engulfed this place as they are ready for a showdown what an exciting matchup we have in store for you this afternoon built around the pageantry tradition and everything that makes college football great as we'll see a squad from the Sunbelt the Old Dominion monarchs taking on a team from the AAC the East Carolina pirates for EA Sports college football ree Davis with you alongside David poock and Jesse Palmer and guys can't wait to get this one started the Pirates will put total leather and we'll get started from inside the 10 yd line he'll bring it back he was looking for some Running Room but not much to be found as he stopped at the 18 so the Old Dominion monarch offense will start this game off here he comes and obviously a defense is always going to be aware of a quarterback but boy he finds a way to put defenses on their heels all the time David I mean what can't he do he's got the weapons he's got the confidence he's got the experience Jesse these kind of guys are so hard to defend you're right they better be able to find a way to get pressure on him because if they don't this is going to be a long day he's dropped behind the line of scrip scriage that'll be a loss of three the monarchs want to move quickly on Third and long doesn't need to take the check down they're setting up the screen on the move at the 30 they'll make the stop but not before they use the screen beautifully and pick up the first down and they executed that running back screen to Perfection quarterback held on to it he let the rush get to him offensive lineman got out in position and the running back sold it too once he had the ball in his hands he just had blockers and Green Field out in front of him they pick up an explosive play on a running back screen finds a spot in the middle he's brought down solid pick up but a little bit short of the first down now on second down nice job by the receiver on the in route there and how about the speed after he made his break he was able to actually separate a little bit from the DB helping out his QB on that one from the shot G now here's an inside give and he's knocked down but not before moving the chains and the monarchs are moving quickly down the field might as well give it to him again and he'll pick up one it brings up second and nine offense quick Tempo leaves it with the back runs through the tackle and they try the middle of this def defense and that is not happening here comes the seventh play of this opening drive they've moved it well but now facing third down pocket starts to collapse and this sophomore able to wreak some havoc and get the sack that's a good example there of complimentary defense the DBS and linebackers are playing Zone they're playing their spaces and they force the QB to to have to hold the ball try to work through his progressions and then the pass rush they win up front the monarchs will bring the punt team onto the field they'll have to punt for the first time this [Applause] afternoon he'll get it to about the 25 before they put a stop to the return so East Carolina offense has the ball for the first time as we take a look at our impact players for this game David what do you look for to make an impact from your leaders your leaders not only have to lead the football team but they got to step up and make plays on the field keep everybody calm these guys typically do a really good job of it yeah David and they also generally set the tone for their respective football teams regardless of which side of the ball they play on the teammates look towards them to step up in big games like this it's caught downfield they'll get him on the ground at the 46 and it'll be a first down on the run it's Harris and that's a very productive first down play and bringing up second and three well it's plays like that that'll help this offense stay in Rhythm all game long if you can have that kind of success on first down running the football it just opens up your entire Playbook moving forward they can really be aggressive after that last play it's second and three they'll Run play action and the pressure gets to him down goes the quarterback the defense just simply not fooled by the play action often times as an offense you're hoping the Run fake is going to slow down those pass rushers but man oh man they had their ears pinned back they line up with some serious work to do if they want to convert this one Garcia wants to throw quarterback extends the play and he's going to be stopped just short of the first down he tried to get it on his own and the Pirates will send out the punt unit first punt of the day and he love to lock them up close to their goal line and the ball will bounce at the four and find its way into the end zone for a Touchback Old Dominion has the ball back the monarchs will send the offense onto the field from the shotgun the inside give and knock him down after a gain of three to the 23 and the monarchs are in the hurry up he's looking for an open man on second down and he just flat dropped it I think he wanted to run before he secured it they couldn't make the connection on second down now a third and seven to keep the drive alive and he was drilled just as he released the pass it's incomplete the monarchs will try to pin them back with the punt this will be the second time they've had to kick it away not going to risk a return here he'll make the fair catch opening snap of this drive comes from the 38 yd line hand off from the gun they can rely on this guy to pick up solid yardage when they needed and he's out to the 43 solid pick up of four on first down it's second and six grab behind the line it's right really nice job there by both guys the throw and the catch to work that defense and get the first down as they get set to snap it just about to reach the end of the quarter they'll run it from the gun a strong tackle and wrap up from the junior line getting set on second down he's got it again he's run out of bound but a big play on that one and it'll be a first down it's been a defensive battle through the first period and the stats tell that [Applause] tail they'll break the seal on this quarter here on first [Applause] down looking for a crease it's Harris they make the tackle after he gets two down to the 25 after picking up a couple at second and eight leaves it with the running back dances away from one they finally get him on the ground but the big running play moves to change for the first [Applause] down from the gun they'll give it on the inside brought down after a pick up of five yds down to the 10 going to work on second down in the red zone is still some ground to cover to pick up that first down and he's brought down after a nice game the Pirates will try to punch it in on first and goal they'll try to get it in with the Run they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one can the defense stop them again on second and goal Garcia to pass looking to scramble trying to buy a little time and he cannot but he does get it back closer to the line of scrimmage how about that from the offense second and goal everything says you might run the football they try to throw it and man was that unsuccessful sitting back in the pocket just throw the football away don't take the sack don't go backwards especially inside the three yd line set up in such good position how about this defense just wrecking the offense on the last two plays and forcing a third in goal slams it ahead and they'll knock him down the head coach going to keep the offense on the field and go for it on Fourth and goal barrels ahead will not get there a fourth down stop first and 10 from inside their own five you got to take care of the ball but there is room to take a shot here the give to the back that's a 15 he's loose an excellent Vision to find Running Room there and make a really good pick up before the defense put a stop to it man it's nice when you can buy some space coming out of your own End Zone with a nice productive run snap the ball thinking about make sure we don't get a safety and now all of a sudden you've got a drive starter and the monarchs want to crank the [Applause] tempo from the gun running back on the Move wrestled down at the 32 after a pickup of five finally this offense starting to show a little juice they've got a first and 10 you wonder now on offense have they found something in the Run game finally it's been tough for them to get the Run game going but they picked up a nice gain on that last one let's see if they go back to it wants to throw on first down grabbed on the outside it's young short completion last play Let's see if they throw it again going to have to design something little bit better than that fellas I mean you're throwing the football you get one yard and that was not an easy catch by the way he toet tapped made sure he got his foot down but I don't know if that was worth it for a one- yd game it's third down now and they ought to be able to get off one more play before the two-minute warning we'll take a quick break here two minutes to play in the first half on Third and long he's going to have to throw for it quick completion on the out he's run out of bounds but not before turning in a big pickup and moving the sticks for a first down Wilson to pass throws to the wide out a strike downfield he'll work his way down to the 28 and this defense is going to have their hands full because they're going to need to be comfortable with guys one-on-one on islands in the perimeter of the field and they're just going to have to make better plays than what we saw right there they knew this offense was going to try to be aggressive got to need better effort in the back end for this defense defense moving forward the monarchs have it with a first and 10 he wants to throw quickly complete and he goes out of bounds after a nice pickup on that one and these quarterbacks have to really trust their wide receivers that they're going to be disciplined and run to the right route when they're throwing that ball to the outside like that because those Corners are sitting there on the inside and the worst thing that could happen is to miss inside and that cornerback get going the other direction they want to just keep throwing it and makes the grab in the end zone touchdown Old Dominion and I just love the execution by this offense late in the half man you want to take the lead you want to get that momentum on your side and they do it they finish it with the passing game and I tell you what heat that passing game up you can keep this lead keep the momentum and keep putting up numbers lining up to add another and the pat makes it seven nothing about to kick it away after scoring the [Applause] touchdown here he comes from inside his own five nice job executing all of the the assignments as they put a stop to that return at the 22 East Carolina sending the offense back to work that last Drive was promising at times but stalled out and they turned it over on Downs Jesse I think they got to do a better job here just being better early in the Downs on first down finding positive plays yeah and it's frustrating when you move the football and get stopped on the other side of the field and get no points but they've had some success and I like the aggressiveness they just got to cash some of these drives in Fairly manageable distance here on third down from the 27 Garcia wants to throw finds his Target down the middle a timeout is called as this offense tries to find a way to get more points on the board before the half now from the 36 yd line it's first and 10 he's going to pass he's going for the big play and that one's incomplete worth taking a shot there but couldn't hook up after the misfire now on second down he's looking to throw complete to the left they got him free for a big Gainer down to the 43 they'll rush to the line clock stopped for the first down they'll set the chains and wind the clock looking to move it through the air finds a man on the right and it is a chunk play a huge gain on that one before the defense brings it to an end that's That's What's So Scary About This offense they've got guys in the perimeter that can change the game in one single play and you saw it right there too much speed on the perimeter to create that explosive play all the way down to the 15 yd line it's first down he's got it on the run and he'll step across the sidelines after making a good gain on that one operating in the Red Zone here on second down he's looking to throw gets away from one and he just threw that one away safe move didn't see anything Live to play another play really need to pick up this conversion and avoid having to settle for the field goal unleashes to the end zone and it's caught touchdown ECU yeah and the passing game comes through man and we need more of that in the second half an extra point away from tying this football game you trailed a little bit in the first half stayed calm if this passing game can continue to heat up look out in the second half P unit on the field smashes it through for the Pat They March 79 yds on the drive and the score comes on a 5yd touchdown pass pass he'll start the return inside is five good job by the coverage unit to stop the Return Man ODU ready to send the offense back onto the field he'll come out throwing on first down connection to the right quick timeout called by the offense after the play and a nice job working the middle of the field I think it's so important to keep defenses honest and you can't just Dink and dunk outside you got to work the middle great job job finding this wide receiver over the middle of the field brings it in down the left side nothing but green ahead and he'll take it to the house he got loose touchdown monarchs and it's now the second time this wide receiver has scored another outstanding job with the route great job securing the catch [Applause] lining up to tack one more onto that lead and the pat gives him a 14-7 lead aggressive play calling on that drive just two plays they get the long touchdown pass to pay it off the kickoff team out up there set to boot it away and he takes this from inside the five he was looking for some Running Room but not much to be found as he stopped at the 18 East Carolina has it back and the purple pirate offense will go to work he's right on target oh there's the ball defense falls on the ball going to be a turnover you know this is a receiving group that practices making catches in traffic and they're used to having guys trying to rip it free he's got do a better job of keeping five points of pressure after he makes the catch that's a costly giveaway first down for this [Applause] offense Wilson will throw trying to get to him floats it out in space and they'll fin get him down after a terrific pickup the offense calls timeout it's the second one they've used this half time dwindling away as they try to put points on the board right before the half passes incomplete the clock is down to nine they'll spread the defense out going five wide on second and 10 he's looking to throw and he's got it touchdown ODU and this quarterback really does a great job of seeing the defense and seeing what kind of coverage they're in and I think when this offense goes empty and they spread the defense out it just makes it so much more simple for the QB to see what the defense is doing pre- snap and then post Snap you could tell he's playing in a great Rhythm right now because he's seeing the field and these empty sets are really helping him out and the extra point will tack another one onto this lead quick strike offense on that three-play scoring drive and the score comes on a 17 yd throw for the touchdown looking for an alley from inside his own 10 he was hoping for something a little more Dynamic but they get him on the ground at the 20 and with time running out here in the first half not willing to invite disaster the offense takes a knee and they'll go to the break trailing we've played two quarters here time to go to Kevin Connors in our halftime update guys one of the best atmospheres in football and we've got a fun one from Greenville and there is no better place to start this halftime than by reviewing how this wide out has been a oneman wrecking crew the kid's been everywhere and I love how he's willing to go across the middle but that he also has the Jets to burn these DBS on the Deep ball if this defense wants to actually come back in this one they better hide his cleats and with that let's send it back to the fellas at dowy fckin Stadium on the run from inside his zone five he was looking for some Running Room but not much to be found as he stopped at the 18 East Carolina sending the offense back to work they got a lot done through the air in the first half and they might need even more production here in the second I think they will Ree and I think this is an offense that has proven they're playing with good timing right now they've got some matchups where they're winning one-on-one and they're just going to have to keep going back to the well David and relying on hitting some explosive plays to win this game yeah and I think we look at numbers naturally and and they're losing so that's the most important thing on the scoreboard but they have had success and so what do you do you keep playing pitch and catch you got to score but you got to talk to your defense I need some stops I need the football back quickly so we can do some more damage now they'll really try to get this drive going good execution on third down as they have it first and 10 at the 31 they're getting this guy lathered up just working and poking and prodding and finding his way up to the 36 and the pirates in the hurry up Garcia to pass unloads to the white out he got his hands on it but couldn't hold on to it and what a time that would have been for their first pick of the game on third down going up top and the incomplete pass will bring up fourth down the Pirates line up to punt it away this will be the second time they've had to kick it away makes a nice grab at the 25 he gets it up to the 34 yd line before he stopped and that's where the offense will set up Shot line gets set first down from the gun the running back has it just sort of a Relentless run getting everything that was available to him and they'll Mark him down at the 40 trying to impose their will with the run and he's a real Nowhere Man tackled in this no gain land now staring at a third and short from the 40 from the gun wants to pass no where to go and the ball is loose the D Scoops it up and everybody reverses field touchdown East Carolina don't just get the ball score with the ball and the defense did that ball was squirting around on the field finally corraled by the defense and they turn it into six and it's so hard defensively do I jump on it and make sure I get it or do I scoop it up and try to make the big play he chose to scoop it up and it pays off makes the big play gets the touchdown they'll try to attack one more on their score and with the extra point they're down a touchdown 2114 that is a defensive player's dream ball sitting there chance to scoop it up one with it and they don't stop you until the band starts playing on the move from inside is five couldn't find a way to create that broken field as he stopped at the 25 Old Dominion has the ball back the monarchs will send the offense onto the field from the gun the running back looking for room really nice run there good solid pickup and they'll move the sticks with a first down here comes the hurry [Applause] up they're going to ride this running back and a really short game before he gets a whole bunch of company from the defense from the gun they'll try the middle and how about that interior defense stuffing the run for nothing trying to move the sticks on third down through the air going to throw it to the right he's got his man nice job to pick up the first down and they'll spot it at the 42 well offensive coordinators put in countless hours every week trying to formate and and the ball is picked off he would have loved to make the big return there but he still gives his team the ball at the 37 and that's the advantage right there of having your dime Personnel on the field You' got an extra DB you've got an extra guy out there who's really good at covering so for quarterbacks you've got to be so good and precise with these passes because they've got speed in the back end they're able to come away with the pick East Carolina has it back in the purple pirate offense will go to work they just didn't quite find the Rhythm on that last Drive Jesse they had to punt it I think they got to be more physical David I think up front they got to do a better job getting blocks and establishing this running game and how easy does football become if you're the more physical team if you can threaten the run and then then run play action it opens up the whole offense at your disposal really nice stop there from this senior leader ball is at the 42 yd line close to 4 down territory here's third and short Garcia wants to throw and the misconnection on third down and the Pirates decide to punt it away he'll try to really get into this one he'll field the punt he's able to pick his way for just a bit but he'll be stopped at the 18 good job by the punt team offense getting set for first down out of the gun they give to the back just searching and working for the Running Room as he gets it out to the 26 and the monarchs want to pick up the tempo from the shotgun they'll run it what a good run there he has enough for the first down inside a minute to go here in the [Applause] third he'll do it himself Jes his way for more and this option attack can low you to sleep sometimes I mean just so many things they can do off of it and you just got to play responsibility responsibility and you got to get them on the ground and make tackles and that was a good job limiting the damage on that play with a nice tackle power football with the Run makes the stop at the 49 give him five yards on the play and a first down the monarchs are on the Move off the play fake on first down wants to throw and they couldn't make the connection on the long shot wonder if they'll throw it again after the incompletion second and 10 from the 49 R On Target this time and they get him on the ground and that'll probably do it for the third quarter what a day it's been on the ground for these two guys and they just seem to get stronger as the game goes long as we take a look at the numbers when you're dealing with a deficit like this it's all about somebody stepping up to make a play and you might as well start here in the fourth quarter he gets it to the 38 yd line and they'll pick up a fresh set of downs maybe this will breathe a little life into this offense which has been flatlined in the second half here's first and 10 he'll keep it himself and a good solid pickup before the defense Cuts him down after trying the running game on first down they come to the line on second down out of the gun the inside handoff looking for a crease what a Nifty run there to pick up the first down and the monarchs come to the line with a new set of downs from the gun give on the inside the stop is made but this offense is threatening first and goal from the nine and this defense has to step forward not only do they have to get a stop they've got to do it quickly to keep that time from running down and he's wrestled to the ground they keep pushing forward now back to work on second and goal from the six quarterback on the keeper touchdown Old Dominion and they add six more to the board with that trip to the house it's just so nice to have a signal caller who can make plays through the air and make plays with his feet like this runs in for the touchdown the defense knows I have to account for him every play that's my quarterback [Applause] ready to try the point after and the extra point is true and they have a two touchdown lead up 14 in the fourth they put it in the end zone with a 12pl scoring drive and he got into the house from the six to finish it he'll bring it back from inside as five he he was looking for more Running Room but none to be found as he stopped at the 23 East Carolina sending the offense back to work last time David it was one two three kick the last drive that three and out sometimes that puts your defense in a hit the after burner's kid and they finally get him down but not before he's got him set up for business at the 49 yd line how nice is it as a quarterback when you don't have to throw post routes to get great stats no I can just throw it quickly to one of the fastest players in the entire nation and let him burn this defense the Pirates will hustle to the line they'll throw it on first down fires to the wide out on target to the left he will step out of bounds but not before the big pickup and a first down for this offense Garcia to pass fires to the right they've avoided the interception all day but they're lucky to get that one back here late it'll be second down couldn't make the connection last time let's see if they throw it again looking left what a job to lay out and make the catch now down to the 12 yd line it's first down he's looking to throw it he wants it all and good coverage there to knock it away and deny the score going to work in the Red Zone they can pick up the first down without getting it into the end zone they'll leave it with him brought down after a 5yd gain down to the seven the terrain gets rough this deep in the Red Zone third down they can pick up the first without scoring from the gun wants to pass going for six it's incomplete he was shooting for the end zone right right there coach has no choice here the offense has to stay on the field down multiple possessions this late fourth down attempt coming it's incomplete and they desperately needed to keep that drive going and they couldn't make the connection they'll run the ball the clock is on their side and he won't quite get there but boy after that pickup just a few inches to go for the first an array of possibilities here we've reached a two-minute warning and this offense will be quite content just to drain the rest of the time away they go to the ground they finally make the stop but the big run is plenty to move those sticks for the first down timeout called by the defense it's their first of the half as they'll go to the sideline and try to make adjustments they'll run it from the gun good solid run on that one as he gets it up to the 33 three Y Line quick timeout called by the defense stopping the clock to save as much time as possible for their offense takes a handoff it's young at the 45 on it way defense uses a timeout quickly trying to get that ball back and preserve time for their offense they'll line up right at the 48 yd line on First and 10 and the quarterback will just drop to a knee for for
