Raiders Sign Darnay Holmes! SO MUCH Raiders News Today

[Music] we got some breaking news here the Las Vegas Raiders are signing veteran cornerback Dar Holmes to the 53 man roster I'm Mitchell Ren host of the Raiders report and oh my goodness so much Raiders news has happened in the last two to three hours chugs and I had a company meeting here at chat sports and while we were sitting there it was L like breaking news story after breaking news story after breaking news story so if you live underneath rock this might be one of the most perfect shows that I do for you because of all the information that we're about to provide now I will say this is from Vincent bonsor and it's not officially official yet but if he does end up passing his physical the Raiders are going to have themselves a brand new defensive back here on this depth chart now again this is a move coming after the silver and black decided to move on from MJ devenshire who we're going to talk about here in a moment the Raiders also put Brandon faing on the IR which we're about to talk about in a moment the silver and black also added Harper off the waiver so a cornerback room that we looked at yesterday for this initial 53 man roster looks very very different as it stands right now which really shouldn't surprise a lot of the people now I did put out a video yesterday talking about one of the players that I want the Raiders to go out and get Dar Holmes and he was a player that has some experience with Patrick Graham was a member of the New York Giant since 2020 and reminder again PG was the the defensive coordinator for the Giants back in 2021 and he was a dude that played a lot on the inside they kind of tried to do exactly what the Raiders did with Nate Hobs where they were like all right young player does a really good job on the inside can we put him on the outside he's not an outside guy so with the Raiders they probably knew they were going to get homes decided to move on from Devonshire also when they added Harper who's also more of an inside player and then with the IR move to Brandon fa it does not surprise me at all that the Las Vegas Raiders went out made this move now I don't have the update on how much the contract details are I'm going to forecast that it's going to be a very cheap deal probably something along the lines of a vet minimum deal so the Raiders are still going to have some salary cap news but here's the thing when news happens I got you covered when anytime the Raiders sign a player we're going to make a video on it practice news we're going to talk about that we're going to have a video on it bottom line if you bleed silver and black I promise you you're not always going to agree with every take that I have you're not always going to sit up here and have a great time if the Raiders are losing in a Brandon facon was placed on the IR the Raiders wave their rookie seventh rounder MJ Devonshire there is a lot and I mean a lot to unpack on this show so first off face him headed to IR this is a player that signed a 2year 6.5 million deal and has played 58 snaps with the silver and black I made a video earlier what over the weekend earlier this week illustrating if I'm the Raiders I'm just moving on from bcon at this point because he's a player who's you could cut right now save $2.6 million use that money to go out and get somebody and like sooner or later we have to to be able to sit down and go is he ever going to be able to play and if he was a star studded corner I'm talking if he's a Jack Jones Nate Hobs I can understand the idea of keeping him on this squad now with him going IR his season is not over he's allowed to return in week five I believe is what it is the same time that Trey Taylor is going to be able to return and reminder the Raiders can have two IR players which is why um they have the two guys that they have right now if they want to put another dude on shortterm IR he has to also be a part of that 53 man so just something to keep in mind but again Brandon facon on the IR a player who we didn't see at at all last season player who he didn't see anything at all this preseason I'm surprised that he's still here the other move that happened and if for those of you that watch the video that I put out about 3 four hours ago on the Raiders cutting Byron young and then also the Raiders went out and they added those two players from waiver when they added Harper I set up here and I go I I think it's going to be MJ devenshire and they already cut Byron Young who was a third rounder in last year's draft they added the defensive tackle and looo then you saw the Raiders go out and they add Harper here and that's kind of his position as well as well as Darnell darn Holmes which is why I think that they decided to move on from a dude like MJ devenshire which I will say this and this is kind of like you know above and beyond chugs you can push me full screen sometimes people are asking well well why did the Raiders make these moves today the reason why the Raiders cut Byron young today and the reason why the cut MJ devenshire today is cuz they want to have these two players on their practice squad to be able to clear waivers and make it like the fact that the Raiders have allowed three extra open spots it's because they want Byron young they want Devonshire if those two players don't hit the 50 or don't make their 53 man roster then they're hitting the waiver period and then there's a better chance that other teams are going to swoop in and take away those guys by doing it today the probability just goes down a little bit lower now that's everything that kind of happened today are at practice the Raiders also had a mild walkth through and it should be noted that Brock Bowers did not practice yet again today um he didn't practice in the final I want to say like two or three days leading up to that final preseason game against the 49ers we're looking at right now Bowers not really hitting the field from a preseason or practice standpoint almost two weeks and I know that they're taking a little bit slow AP said that he wanted to take it slow and not get too crazy with Bowers said the exact same thing with ikenberg but like Bowers is going to be a big part of this offense and I am starting to get a little bit nervous I'd like to be able to get a good update on our star studded tight ends especially because we only kept three of them I also say that though because we only kept three tight ends is why everybody out there for the Brock Bowers news take a deep deep breath because if it was serious I think they would have kept another tight end that wasn't John St sanker on the practice squad I got to give a shout out to our August comment King PG 2869 he commented on a video the hooker video you know what I'm talking about 1,69 times Noah Santana commented 864 times here's the thing if you want to be the August comment King you want to get a special shout out on this show you're going to have to beat 1,69 comments so I'm going to challenge somebody out there from the nation this is the craziest Raiders news dump day that we have had in quite some time and it just makes me that much more excited for the regular season if you bleed silver and black if you a dieh hard Raiders fan I want you to comment on this video 1,70 times if you do you're going to be the new leader here for our August comment King let's now get into the Raiders practice squad I'm going to go player by player for this and just kind of tell you like why I like that they're here why you know they decided to get why did they decided to get keeped I don't know I can't speak why they decided to you know stay here on this roster for Wilkerson this was a dude that I actually thought was going to end up potentially making that 53 man definitely a good player to have on your practice squad in case somebody goes down and I would say don't be surprised if Wilkerson gets at least one opportunity this season another player that I'm not shocked that the Raiders decided to keep at receiver was Jaylen gon and just the fact that these were two players that were working you know side by side for most of this off season as wide receiver five wide receiver six mallister ended up beating him out ramble Keaton they liked him more from a younger standpoint so you got those two receivers that ended up making it they weren't the only receivers another player that ended up making the Raiders practice squad was Matthew Butler fifth rounder from just two seasons ago from Tennessee and I almost feel like I got baited by AP and you know that's on me where he's talking very very highly of Matthew Butler and then all of a sudden doesn't end up making it ends up keeping Byron young but just like the Byron young situation just like Matthew Butler I think that they want both of those guys to develop a little bit more and just be on the practice David agoa the international pathway program player he is also here on this practice squad and because the Raiders kept him you're now allowed to have 17 players so usually squads are only allowed to have 16 with a Goa now you're allowed to have 17 will putam he's more of a versatile Center interior offensive lineman got some reps at Clemson which that's going to be a big college football game this week we' even talking about it a bunch here at chat sports another offensive lineman is Dalton Wagner according to people that I talk to Wagner I believe was the first one that ended up signing to the Raiders practice squad big uh offensive tackle he was injured all of last season I would like to just see him stay healthy and continue to grow because his upside is he's got legit upside he just got to stay healthy and work on his technique a little and for the second year in a row he said no I want to stay and I want to go back to Las Vegas this has been a good home for him and I could actually see that Webb could be a player that maybe the Raiders do decide to promote if the two guys Holmes or Harper don't necessarily work out the right way so I was happy they were able to keep Sam web Ben Brown is another player that the Raiders were able to keep and I'll kind of go back to web here I thought woo Governor would be somebody to keep in mind and the fact that woo was not claimed yet I I kind of want to see how that situation goes out because that makes me think all right MJ devenshire Byron young and then the Raiders might want to try to bring back somebody like woo Governor so just keep that in mind back to Ben Brown though I didn't mean to take it away from him he was working a lot as like an interior offensive lineman a little bit as a center on top of that but like for Las Vegas they want to have as many of these players as humanly possible versatile dudes for your practice squad faen Sanford is another guy that continues to impress during the off season very very hard worker really good special teams player I had a Raiders player tell me he reminds me of D levit and that might be show you how long that this player has been with this team but I think like that's what you think of Sanford he's not going to be overly not overly athletic but he's a good special teams player that might be able to hang around in the NFL way longer than anybody thought he could myself included so Sanford I'm happy for you John Samuel schneer is another player that the Raiders are going to keep here for a tight end which I didn't know if they were going to keep a tight end on that practice squad I think when you look at you know Zack Gentry's gone colefam goes elsewhere Samuel stanker also has the ability to play a little bit of fullback and the reason why that that's important is because the Raiders drafted Brock Bowers with this new 12 Personnel that they're going to run they're going to use Bowers as this like you know Kyle use Che type of player where you can line him up as a fullback put him out like on a wheel route or something like that and schneer did a little bit of that at Auburn he also has some of those connections with Cadillac Williams from back in those times as well before we get into even more of these practice squad players JS and I are not only going to be doing a week one watch party we're also going to be doing a top golf event which 20 people are going to be able to hang out with those links down in the comments and in the description of today's show more practice squad Alex Bachman yo man I'll tell you this right now if you would have told me Alex Bachmann would figure out a way to be on this squad in May when he was originally signed after the draft I don't know if I would have believed you but it just goes to show that he is a sure-handed reliable route Runner and that really he impressed a lot of coaches this off season one player that I'm stoked was able to get back here was Charles Snowden and realistically out of all the players that are on this practice squad I'm the most happy that Charles Snowden was able to get back to us just because he did play well and I'm not afraid to say it I have just as much confidence in Snowden as I do Tyrie Wilson right now yes Wilson's upsides much higher but Snowden showed that he's going to go out there and he's going to give it as all solid run Defender at running back the Raiders are also going to keep sincere McCormick which I thought did the better job compared to Britton Brown so the Raiders got that one right at quarterback Carter Bradley so we got that one right as well the video that we put out yesterday was a little bit of a practice squad projection I'd say we got most of those right sure there was a few others that ended up sprinkling in there but realistically the fact that none of the Raiders players were claimed off waivers it showed that they were going to be able to build their practice squad the way that they wanted which I think is again shown that Antonio Pearson to Tesco did make a lot of the right decisions even if they were difficult ones so the the Raiders still have three open practice squad spots available who are you shocked didn't make the squad and just cuz they didn't make the squad yet doesn't mean that they aren't ever going to make it so just keep that in mind I'm going to say woo Governor is the name that I'm going to continuously look out for also look out for tomorrow for MJ devenshire and Byron young one more time here here's the Raiders practice squad on the offensive side of the football this team kept nine players in total lot of wide receivers some interior offensive line depth offensive tackle Carter Bradley as well and then on that defensive side of the football they decided to go out and keep another six players there for the defense to
