running game and how easy does football become if you're the more physical team if you can threaten the run and then then run play action it opens up the whole offense at your disposal free snap hard is it to defend when you have a weapon like this a running back that can play wide receiver you can design ways to get the football in his hand Palmer once you get in his hands he'll do the rest yeah no doubt I mean and often times those are easier throws for quarterbacks and these running backs they're just naturally so good when they have the football out in space their Vision their creativity their ability to make people miss and this guy shows you right there a difficult difficult guy to stop now if you're this defense moving forward all tied up from just about set to kick it away here he comes from inside his own five nice job by the kickoff team everybody stayed in their lanes and they'll stop him at the [Applause] 16 guys Here Come Those Maze and blue winged helmets on offense they they love to do what they did last time and put this one in the end zone you ain't lying they did a great job the offense was clicking everything went well Palmer they execute and got the touchdown and they really were in a nice Rhythm as well and I'd love to see that here on the next drive too just keep doing what you're doing everything seems to be working and you seem to have this defense on their heels they'll line up for a second down play after the incompletion back to the passing game and he is intercepts it and they capitalized not only on the pick but on the great return to improve this field position what a gamechanging play by this defense nice job you got them backed up in their own territory coming out now you force the turnover set your offense up with some great scoring field position looking to throw it's Howard and the defense a got him at the 27 and that is a huge play for the defense offense has it in your Red Zone you're trying to knock them out of field goal range the only way you do that is by creating negative plays and they get the sack come on set off play action and here comes the pressure and there he goes down again that's the end of the first quarter with the score time at seven a third down play to get the quarter started easy wide receiver coming across in motion quick pass on the Fly motion he couldn't find anywhere to go and now it's fourth down that's a great job executing up front by the defense they looked like they were ready for that play and that was a bit of a more unconventional look from the offense on third down but the defense was there to make a big stop and the try is no good and here in the second quarter we remain all kned up Michigan ready to get that offense rolling again after throwing the pick on the last drive need to take care of the ball this time Jesse we're going to find out a lot about this quarterback right here too how does he fight through adversity after that last Drive yeah clear the mechanism move on that that's a part of it right if you're going to be a great player got to learn how to handle these mistakes and move on 8yd pickup on first down leaves them with second and short from the gun the running back looking for room and they'll bring him down but not before he picks up the first down I love when players understand situations and they understand where the first down marker is and they understand where I got to get to a lot of people you'll see run north south and try to bounce out wide and make big plays sometimes it's not about making big plays he's going for it all and it falls incomplete and the offense is lucky to have it Defender right there almost had it in his grasp the colors of the day were Maze and blue when Michigan won a close one last year it was Ohio state leaving the stadium feeling blue after that one too the way the Michigan enforced their will in that game they were the most physical team when they needed to be and David they're going to have to do that again to pull out this Delby yeah and it doesn't matter if you're the coach at Ohio State and you won every game on your schedule but you lose to Michigan it's an unsuccessful year so he's heard about it all off season and these players have two and they'll be ready for some Revenge grab near the sticks it's Klein finally run out of bounds but he has this offense rolling with a first down and the Wolverines are on on the move ever since they invented the forward pass the tight ends have been running the drag and getting the first down I I think it's because the tight ends so much versatility you know they can block and stay in the formation or they can release and come out but either way think quarterback's patient most of the time that drag route's going to come up they can really be aggressive after that last play it's second and three back to throw it's orgy looking to the big tight end got his man defense knocks him down immediately after the catch but now they're facing a go to go situation from the seven the Wolverines trying to pay off the threat on first and goal they'll try to get it in with the run and this one will be stopped for No Gain it's an offense that takes Pride being physical they try to get it going on the ground but no gain on that one does knowwhere to run not a lot of wiggle room for the ball carryer this defense came in knowing that they had to match their physicality let's see if they can keep it up [Applause] [Music] [Applause] defense roll up deep in its own end on that last play now a second and long coming he'll run it to the middle looking for the End Zone Relentless tough running gets it down to the four this has been really good for the defense too it's kind of a Bend don't break mentality right really bowing up with your backs against the wall if you can win this next third down try to force the opponent into a field goal that's a win if you're on Def defense so loud is rattling your fillings on Third and goal on the run it's Edwards and he was fortunate not to lose yardage on that play able to wedge it back to the line of scrimmage second quarter might not be gamble time but inside the three Palmer I've got the green light I'm going for this I am too and you're essentially running a two-point play here right you've got a play you practice all week long that's the play you dial up right here they'll send out the kicker here and the kicker delivers the three ball to finish off the drive and guys after the field goal now they have the lead so after putting three on the board the kickoff team is out there ready to boot it away and he'll just take a knee and this drive will start at the 20 [Applause] the Buckey roll that offense back out there you want to talk about taking the wind out of your sails Drive the ball down the field and miss the field goal David you know what don't leave it up to Kickers execute better offensively I think you move the ball nice you got to keep that in mind but Palmer I think you got to stay aggressive and don't settle for field goals yeah because you got to know there's just no margin for error right now you just have got to be able to execute at a higher level looking to throw it's Howard and that's not the way they drew it up it's incomplete there are so many great rivalries in college football guys but I think this one because of the disdain and the Excellence sort of Rises to the top yeah I mean listen there are great rivalries scattered all around this country instate rivalries interc conference rivalries with great history great pageantry but I think what makes Ohio State versus Michigan unique is the fact that more often than not these are two teams competing for national championships at the end of the year and this game really does determine the national landscape and 19 national championships between the two teams late in the year it always mattered you go back to 2006 number one versus number two so always disdain always hate don't even call each other by their names like this rivalry means so much to college football on fourth down they'll try to throw it going to try to pop one on the screen they stop him short of the marker and they'll turn it over on down man first half being that aggressive on on your side of the field that's that's a different world like you live in the analytics world and I know people say go for it more often I don't see the point going for it on that one early in the game in that [Applause] situation they'll throw it on first down quarterback moving out of the pocket and he'll step across the sidelines after making a good gain on that one man what a nice run by the CU great job exploding getting up field and then smartly getting out of bounds and man how hard is it to stop an offense with a guy at the quarterback spot that's so Dynamic and the quarterbacks buy his Lonesome on second and inches throws to the tight end and that ball is intercept it at the goal line and after the interception and the turnover this defense has set its offense up for business this is obviously not a great start for this quarterback here two interceptions already in this game he's got to do a much better job with his decision making here comes the Ohio State offense onto the field they're going to throw it to start the drive snares it outside it's Scott and he'll make his way out of bounds after the solid pickup must be nice for this quarterback back knowing he's got this type of athlete playing the tight end position I can work the middle of the field form he's a guy who can stretch it vertically as well but this is a guy the QB will look for early and often in this game the express way is wide open he's right out of bounds but not before turning in a big pickup and moving the sticks for a first down I want to get my running backs the ball in space as much as possible and sometimes it doesn't work in the running game but I can throw it to him I'm going try to create some space out wide dump him the football let him make some catches and see if I can't get some big plays out it on the Run fires down field how about that play to get a hand in there and force the incompletion defense we always trying to get some tips you know break on the football get a tip get it up in the air nice job by the player breaking on the football and forcing the incompletion didn't connect last time let's see if they throw it again on second down looking to the big tight end might have L him a little too far he's able to make the catch but can't get the feet down in bounds I love the coverage in the back end by this secondary that DB was glued to the wide receiver staying right behind him he was able to locate the ball get his pile out there to knock it [Applause] down on Third and long he's going to have to throw for it he's missed three in a row now with that last incompletion yeah you can tell the timing was was it great and quarterback receiver not on the same page but when you're going to miss don't miss towards the DB you definitely want to miss out towards the sideline so you don't get yourself in trouble grease rate incompletions and undaunted they'll go for it on Fourth and 10 he'll try to throw and pick up the first down complete out of the back field how about that defense rising up and stopping him short on fourth down well I knew the coach was confident in his offense I did not know he was that confident this early in the game fourth and long I thought he just punt that one away and let his defense take the field interesting and here comes the Michigan offense back on the field they're already in great field goal position here David the question is how aggressive do they get that Full Throttle be aggressive try to get the touchdown here man such great starting field position it's just going to take one play right they've got the weapons outside give a guy an opportunity to make a play In The End Zone think about the momentum change that would create ball marked at the 26 it's first and [Applause] 10 the running back has it and they try the middle of this defense and that is not happening they'll use a timeout right before halftime maybe time for one or two more [Applause] plays running out of time here in the first half they're going to have to be efficient to put some points on the board before the break looking for a man it's orgy throws for the tight end got a man in the middle we've got a timeout in the waning seconds of the half maybe a chance to get off a couple more plays time out Michigan just enough time to get off one final play of the half quarterback Steve trying to power his way ahead for a few wedges pushes and he's over and in for the touchdown man that's not over complicate this I love it put the QB under Center you know it's a QB sneak make the defensive line stop me that hard to the goal line it's hard to do and the offense didn't try to get too cute really nice work getting the touchdown so here comes the kickoff after the touchdown and the last thing you need right before the half is to give up a big return oh look at Mr H taking the squiver inside the 30 and the coverage team able to wrestle him down we'll take over first and [Applause] 10 they'll have just enough time to get one more snap before the half 29 looking to go up top on first down right on the money to the outside he dragged the toe and how about the ball placement only the receiver could get it so that's going to do it here in the first half stay tuned for the halftime break and the Buckeyes will kick it away to crank up the second [Applause] half and he takes this from inside the five he gets a block just an outstanding return there and really sets up his offense [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] nicely looking for a productive play on first down starting this third quarter on the ground and he doesn't find much running who a short gain on the play didn't get much on first down it's second and nine going to run it it's Edwards and a decent gain there before the defense makes the [Applause] stop how bold will they be on third down after that last run from the gun wants to pass they're trying to get to it that pass pass is well off Target he got hit as he was trying to throw and they can't convert on third down oh you know what time it is when the defense gets that stop on third down fist up in the air nice job getting to the quarterback putting some pressure on him hitting him forcing the incompletion fourth down baby and they get to him and sack the quarterback and they'll stop the drive on down that play never had a chance on fourth down they're trying to catch the defense off guard throwing for it but no protection quarterback didn't have an opportunity to step up to get rid of that football give the defense credit man tremendous aggression there on four he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three well the linebacker showing you Reed and react he knew exactly where that running play was going and he beat the football to the line of scrimmage and force the tfl dropping back it's Howard that pass is incomplete and they might be fortunate it wasn't knock free for a fumble it'll be third down and this offense is desperate to keep this drive alive trailing by multiple possessions and it's getting late on Third and long a check down would be the last resort and this defense's head is spinning he gets it down to the 27 well he was licking his chops as soon as he saw Blitz he knew some gu was trying to cover him manto man ain't going to happen with his skill set he's one of the best in the country and that is just way too easy hit hard just as he released it on first down and just couldn't get it to the receiver that's another example of just really good football this is why they've built the lead here in the second half nice job pressuring the quarterback making him feel uncomfortable coming into somebody else's building and keeping it really really quiet back to the air one more time nice defensive play to get a hand in there and knock it away Zone coverage that time in the cornerback a nice job with his eyes he's watching the quarterback he sees the ball thrown so he knows exactly when to break on it he's able to break it up for an incompletion throws to the wide out and it's intercepted a turnover from the defense got some room to run and a big return after the I he sets up the offense for this possession not all DBS make the play at the end right they they can bat the ball down they can be in position but they don't really secure the football great job by the DB securing the football and forcing the [Applause] turnover leaves it with the back they'll rip off eight on that play it's second and two and the Wolverines headed quickly to the line give to the running back brought to the ground but not before getting it up for the first down they'll snap it from the 39 first and 10 using his legs it's Edwards turns it on to Midfield he's loose at the 20 touchdown Michigan and once he found some daylight it was time to make a house call they built a comfortable lead and Michigan is firmly in control yeah hell to the victors has been playing this team has handled the moment handled the game as well as any Michigan team we've seen they know every year this will be a fight but Michigan has brought it and Ohio State hasn't responded and I think Mich has just done a better job executing here in the second half I love the way they've mixed in the run with the pass offensively defensively they're doing a great job communicating they're just the more locked in team here late in the game almost ready to kick it away after scoring the [Applause] touchdown and it'll come out to the 25 no attempt at a return [Music] the Buckey roll that offense back out there trailing Now by 17 David this is an opportunity that they need to answer and down by 17 it's not panic mode yet like I know we just gave up some points and our defense hasn't played great I think this offense can still be who they are and stay consistent no doubt lots of football to go but you do get the feeling this is the time of game where you know it could get bad you don't score and all of a sudden they get the ball back they take it down the field to put some points up this thing might be over so absolutely this quarterback he wants to drive this offense down the field and at least put something on there feeling some heat incomplete he had to get rid of it before he wanted to the defense put the heat on this is going to be tough sledding for this quarterback now you're trailing you're in the second half defense knows you've got to throw it you're going to have to sit in the pocket under duress and start making throws and tight windows it's not an easy situation by any stretch but big time players make big plays in big games now they're really starting to threaten as they pick up the first down at the 34 yd line and the quarterback knew exactly where he wanted to go the football had time spins the ball deep nice job by this offense understanding what the defense has giv them and creating the explosive play looking left got his hand downfield and the catch it R in The End Zone touchdown Buckey got to start cutting into this lead somewhere now the question will they have enough time but that's step one you got to get that first score you got to get back in the ball game and get some of that momentum back on your side you still got more work to do but step one accomplished and it's up and good as they draw Just a Touch closer a very efficient five play scoring Drive and the final 34 yds covered by that touchdown pass so they've got the lead down to 10 here a little more interesting as they're set to kick it away he'll bring it out it's Morris I imagine he's going to get an earful on the sideline after bringing it out of the end zone and such a good job on the last there's a line football defense just cradling that fumble and securing and he's brought down and this defense gets the ball back for its own all right this quarter back is going to have to start playing with a clock going off in his head he knows he cannot hold on to the football too long with players like that getting after him so he took a chance by using a Timeout on the challenge and it comes back to bite him we'll see if he needs that timeout later to the air on first down caught in the back field it's Judkins the defense wouldn't let him lose there and it was a completion but they lost yardage you know you got to be careful as a QB throwing to your running back in man coverage if there's a linebacker draped all over him that that Ball's not going anywhere you just saw it right there better play by the defense and he was drilled just as he released the pass it's incomplete there's nothing better than being a defensive line in and a defense period that pressure the quarterback that gets hits on him that make him feel uncomfortable especially when you come into their building and you get everybody really really quiet that's a great feel I tell you what I don't know if the off is expecting man coverage that time third and long in field goal range you're expecting it to be Zone instead they lock them up manto man everybody on an island and everybody won they get the incompletion Now setting up fourth a famous Rider once said most men lead lives of quiet desperation here is a desperate move going for it on fourth down trailing by double Figures it's incomplete and the defense makes a stop and gets the football back that just could not have gone anywhere worse for the offense guys not only are you dropping the ball on fourth down you dropped a touchdown that should be six on the board you need players to step up and make plays in those types of situations that's the kind of play that could lose you this game the wolverin are in the hurry up and sometimes for the defense it just takes one play right to create some momentum obviously this guy's been eating him up he's got over 100 yards rushing on the day but finally David they get something positive here in the Run game defensively but you kind of know that coming in he's going to get his such a great back and he's had a great day need to put more plays together like that right there the Roar of the crowd trying to fuel this defense to keep them pending their own end on third down he drops to throw brings it in down the left side hit the afterburners kid the 10 touchdown wolverin and they take it in for six more points and this receiver is on fire he's got all the skills that you look for in a big time Target that's already his second touchdown of the game ling up to tack one more onto that lead and the extra point will will tack another one onto this lead quick strike offense on that three-play scoring drive and the Finish shows just how potent they are an 88 yd touchdown pass and no chance at a return here they'll start this drive at their own [Music] 25 here comes the Ohio State offense onto the field after giving up that score now it's incumbent on this offense to kind of get a back and forth going Jesse in this game they got to put some points on the board here there's obviously a lot of football to go so it's not necessarily Panic time just yet but I'm getting the ball into the hands of my best Playmakers on this drive I hear you Jesse but not panic time have you seen my defense I mean I'm not trusting them to get a lot of STS so he puts a lot of pressure on pass on the way it's picked off he'll try to take it back touchdown Michigan how about that de coming up with a play like that number 18 the DB saw it he thought don't drop it don't drop it then thought don't get caught don't get caught and he didn't the pick six hey these guys can play offense too now look at this I showed you I can be a wide receiver coach might split him out at wide receiver next week after making that big play but defense great job making the interception and you're right doing something with it don't just slide down don't be content take that thing all the way back they're lining up to kick it off after the pick six and that defense will come out feeling it and they desperately wanted to attempt a return but decided not to instead they'll take the Touchback first down for this [Applause] offense dropping back it's Howard using the back as a receiver on the screen he's R out of bounds but a big big play on that one and it'll be a first down and first for the offense that's the end of the third quarter with the score Michigan 38 Ohio State 14 and now a fresh set of downs for this [Applause] offense he'll come out throwing on first down using the quick game and the defense settled in to stop that one for a short gain well here's the problem offensively because you're trailing by so much so late in the game the defense now is going to be playing big Zone coverages and they're going to allow you to throw the ball underneath in the middle of the field rally to make a tackle and bleed the clock it's going to be hard now for this offense to CLA their way back in this one the playaction fake looking to take a shot and he is finding wide open Defenders all over the field his third interception of the
