The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 2 is receiving mostly negative reviews from major outlets, despite a misleading 85% Rotten Tomatoes score. hey guys welcome back to clownfish TV this is neon I am here with geeky Sparkles hello and we're going to talk about Lord of the Rings the rings of power season two it's uh it's coming out it's getting reviewed I don't think the reviews are looking too good though no but Ron tomato says it has an 85% um but some of these funny it says that but when you read the reviews it's like how does this have an 85% yeah I'm looking at the the major reviews right there are a lot of positive reviews from smaller Outlets but most of the major reviews are not good so let's uh let's talk about this this look I'm going to right up front you're not going to see a lot of Lord of the Rings videos on this channel because I don't give a crap about this show I have no interest in this show i' I've I've seen Clips I saw the trailer I'm like I don't even want to taint my um feelings toward the original Peter Jackson films I don't want to watch it I don't care it's not tolken it's bad fanfiction if you like it fantastic good for you yay um but uh yeah I think it's going to be more of Amazon's Lord of the Rings series is likely to fail again in its second season, despite being contractually obligated to continue, after only 37% of viewers finished the first season. the same I don't think it's going to perform that well I think most people checked out in the first season and they're not coming back but I think they're contractually obligated or they were too far along into season two to pull the breakes on you know put the brakes on so let's talk about this before we get into it any further Please Subscribe for more pop culture Amazon Studios right that uh a very small percentage of people who started watching it actually finished it very like uh only 37% of the people who watched it actually watched the whole thing wow it's not good it's like like acolyte levels of yeah nobody cares that being said uh there was a season 2 already in devel they're claiming it's going to go Five Seasons they're going to do five seasons of this why five seasons of this why would you it's they it was failed it failed I don't think this is going to do any better I don't understand why you would put more money I I think this is gonna this is going to determine whether or not they actually do more I mean I don't know where they're at in development but like again The Lord of the Rings Season 2 receives mostly negative reviews, with but the early reviews are not not great it's coming from variety we have the rings of power makes Lord of the Rings a boring slog in a lifeless season 2 uh TV review that's not a good that's not a good sign we have uh USA Today uh Lord of the Rings series The Rings of power is beautiful but empty in season 2 we got the independent the rings of power season 2 review like a mirthless roller coaster ride rarely fraught with any tension the lavish budget was spent on all the wrong things and why is there no no humor at all uh this is coming from Games Radar which is covering it for some reason the Lord of the Rings rings of power season 2 review a bleak oppressive Ode to Middle Earth anchored by one of the year's best performances so there's that right um but yeah we're looking at the positive reviews and they're not putting number there they have a couple with numbers a lot of times they aren't putting them three out of five yeah some of them aren't sounding great um this one this is n Lord of the Rings the rings of power may not be everything we hoped it would be but for now it's enough wow yes this can feel like a series Almost drunk on it budget running time there's still some intimate there's still the intimate Twisted dance of Sauron and cimor is that is that solor is how you pronounce that uh there's likely going to be push back from fans of the original film Trilogy and tolken written work this is the most striking fantasy show of the year uhhuh it's it's only we're I doubt that well sh F shows how many fantasy shows have there been only only oh yeah it's true there only a couple but it's it's the best one it's the best of the three yeah you know The Lord of the Rings Season 2 improves but still receives mixed reviews for its storytelling and shallow character development. didn't say it was the best I said it was the most striking most expensive looking it says it hasn't reinvented itself in the second season turns the intensity on everything it was already doing well so it just took how how was terrible and boring as [ __ ] the first time they is up the intensity on that boring as [ __ ] stuff so we're going to see gadriel doing some like Matrix style I Kung Fu or something slow-mo it's troubled by the shallowness that preceded it often falling flat in episodes dedicated to some of the more thinly written characters it's a it's a welcome step up wait but it's a welcome step up but it's shallow it's not the worst thing ever um say it's fantasy at the highest level uhhuh uh it goes on and on it's just like a lot of them a lot of them are like you know they start out like sound like it's going to be fresh and great and then they it's not that great but it's still great it's still better than something else yeah but most of the uh most of the outlets you would think would like it like the rap and variety and stuff they're like yeah it kind of sucks right yeah the the variety was like it's it's rotten yeah variety set was rotten the rap the rap set rotten the independent set was rotten Hollywood Reporter rotten Falls prey to one of the most common afflictions of his kind it starts to feel like a story shaped backwards from events we already know we'll need to transpire rather than one driven for by the motives and choices of his well it's Amazon's Lord of the Rings Season 2 exists despite being a confusing, expensive, and potentially wasteful prequel that can't legally be connected to Peter Jackson's movies. a prequel what are you supposed to do right it's it's a worly backstory compliment to Peter Jackson's movies except all the diverse people are dead and suddenly disappeared for no damn good reason but you know well it's here's the thing it is but it isn't right so they're trying they were trying to Market it like it was a prequel to The Jackson films but technically legally speaking I guess it can't be but they're going to do an actual prequel to The Jackson Another prequel this person the Go the golum movie or whatever it is uh yeah it's just like I don't know guys I five seasons of this three more after this and how much money is that I mean you didn't lose enough last time I don't know I'm trying to figure the budget like apparently they um it was a billion dollars for the rights or something or there I don't know yeah but then you get to use that you know that that be broken down per you know movie or show or whatever like you have you paid that much for the rights but you did 10 different things with it you just break it up per that so you don't know yet how much that's going to spread out but like it's just it seems like an awful lot of of a waste of money yeah well that's what they said in variety they said but I can't think of in this or any Lord of the Rings Season 2 exists despite the first season's poor performance and low viewer retention. characters I particularly care about or any emotions I felt as they traversed Middle Earth it's part for the course with this Amazon drama the billion plus dollar much B Hood prequel to Lord of the Rings two years ago the first season was initially met with polite Praise by critics who rightly bled the show's visual World building while noting the actual story was not at sequel uh with audiences I thought they called those people you know all kinds of names Nazis yeah with audiences however the rings of power landed with a thud that would Echo throughout the dwarf settlement of uh kazad Doom according to the Hollywood report just 37% of domestic viewers who began the eight episode series watched it so yeah I don't know how it's going to do I'm going to be honest I think you know if you didn't watch all the first season season are you going to watch the second season probably not this is kind of like comic books right you get one chance to make first impression and a lot of times people will check out the first issue historically uh I think issue two and three of a comic book is always harder Define than the first issue and then it starts to pick up readership again because a lot of people dip out after the first book and it's kind of the same way if they're not finishing the first season they're not coming back I'm just telling you yeah I I I don't know why they spent more money on this it bombs so terribly and their answer was let's do it again it's like you know we were all seeing these these these Hollywood Studios do heel turns and try to you know change the way they're going and that is not what they're doing here they're double down they're doubling down stupidity I mean I'm hoping what this one does bad too Amazon's Lord of the Rings Season 2 may be its last due to low viewership and high costs, existing solely for financial gain. they'll be like okay let's stop but yeah yeah it might be the end of it because they said yeah season two offers no reason to believe this trend and viewership is going to be reversed as for The Season's creative quality the grace period has run out um if they don't bring the views in this season I think season 2 is already too far into production they probably figured it with a budget or whatever if they don't bring the views I think it's probably going to be over I think Amazon at this point probably just cut their losses they laid a bunch of people off in Amazon Studios and I think it's because of this like you bonehead spent a billion dollars on a show that nobody's watching well did you read this last part with a shape shifting start a mask and blah blah blah it's has finally has has the faintest hint of narrative momentum but the second installment of the show as gorgeous yet flat as a kitchen backsplash has the same problems that the first as the first minus much confidence these issues will ever go away oh my God it it exists to exist this this there was no story to tell they basically just took some of the the appendices tokens appendices as I understand it and they just kind of cobbled something together just to be like hey Lord of the Rings IP watch it cuz IP you love that IP right and yeah and it's just it's there was no doesn't work people are over it was a quest for more money that's what this is and it's anti-money cuz now you're a billion dollars but it's as flat as a kitchen The Lord of the Rings Season 2 is expected to be a short-lived and forgettable show. back spot so anyway which you can buy on Amazon they going to have a little pop up for that as you're I don't know watching it are we going to wrap this up yes uh yeah I don't give a [ __ ] about this show nobody gives [ __ ] about this show um I think it's going to come and go and that's going to be it it's going to be like hey can't wait to get blamed for it can't wait to get blamed for it you didn't watch it clownish it's you and your your bigot Brigade that didn't watch this show that's why there are no more Brown Hobbits in the Shire it's your fault care not going to watch it
