welcome to the first place of college football the State University of New Jersey the campus of ruter in Piscataway and we are ready for what ought to be a tremendous game today today we have one of those games that test your focus top 25 team against an unranked opponent can you take care of business as we'll see the pandas taking on the 11th ranked team in the land the ruer Scarlet Knights for EA Sports college football I'm ree Davis joined here in the booth by David Po and Jesse Palmer and guys let's get this thing [Music] started the Scarlet Knights will kick it away to start us off he'll bring it out from inside his own 10 just never had a chance to shake loose and he'll be brought down at the 24 looks as if we have an injury on that last play and we'll take a break to check him out first down here for the offense goes to the option the pitch and that might have been a bad read as the defense just swarms all over the pitch man didn't get much done on that first play of the drive it's second and 11 leaves it with the running back and they try to run inside and there is nowhere to go you got to have that defense you know you can go to in running situations your base defense when you say okay this is where I'm going to start and I'm going to stop the run stuff it up front my guys play Big up front then if I need to add some blitzes to it later on down the road I can a great job in the base defense making a point and sure tackling there to keep him from getting to the first down marker the pandas will putt this one [Applause] away takes it on the return and you make the Stop and that is exactly what you want out of your punt cover unit so ruter offense headed onto the field our first look at them today as we take a look at our impact players for this one what are you looking for Jesse for a guy to make an impact well these are simply put the leaders of this football team and generally games go how these guys play if they make plays and they've got a shot and the pass is intercepted and how about that that's the first int for this guy like he's gone all throughout this year taking care of the football making plays really really building trust with his offensive coordinator first mistake put Hey listen put it behind you you've had a great season so far young man they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one lost one on that last one it's second and [Applause] 11 give to the big fullback Bulls his way forward he had all kinds of company as soon as he got and he had to fight his way back just to get to the line of scrimmage and you don't want to start this game with two straight punts big third down opportunity coming here they're bringing Heat and the de def is all over the quarterback and down he goes and the pandas will punt it away on fourth down three and out they got stuck in Reverse they hope the punt can bail them out holds it in looking for space and he's going to get it up to about the 29 yd line before he's brought down first down here for the offense he Wast no time and comes out throwing now he's going to Glide away from pressure at the 40 there he goes they finally make the Stop and he shows why he is dangerous on the r two and he's got a first down the give to the back we'll give him a couple on that one second and eight coming up and those physical runs take a toll it might not be a big game now but down the road third fourth quarter late in the ball games they tend to turn into bigger runs quarterback making adjustments with his receivers leaves it with the back and they'll finally get him down after a terrific Pickup Man Down on the play as the officials take a break to let him be checked out and the Scarlet Knights getting set on First and 10 swings it out to the flat just plowing ahead and that is a Nifty bit of navigation to get through that traffic and get the first down used to play fake now to throw fires to the wide out got his man downfield touchdown State University of New Jersey what a grab and go for the score and what a nice start for this offense the throw game getting working getting the touchdown pass this quarterback getting a little bit of confidence this passing game getting in a rhythm nice start for this offense and he takes it from inside the five he was looking for some Running Room but not much to be found as he stopped at the 18 here comes the offense onto the field again the last time we saw this offense we had to look quick it was a three and out Jesse they just had no rhythm in that last drive so someone's going to have to step up and make a play David and get this thing going yeah let's find some juice find your guy find those plays that you know you can run inside out forward backwards get some first downs get some positive momentum fullbacks got it that play just never had a chance a knock him down for a loss of five not exactly the ideal situation for this offense third and long backed up inside their 20 looking downfield and he needs a bunch setting up the screen crosses the 30 he got to away he will step out of bounds but not before the big pick up and a first down for this offense at the 4 first down for the off hand off to the fullback they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one well they're trying to hand it off to the fullback for a quick hitter but just nowhere to go the defensive line great job getting penetration to set up that b quarterback on the keeper that's what you expect from a senior don't give them any extra yards great tackle there they've got a good chunk of ground to cover on third and long from the 41 feeling some heat and he's dragged down okay just the type of field position this offense wants single back formation and they give it to it and he goes out of bounds after on that one looks as if we have an injury on that last play and we'll take a break to check him out eight- yd pickup on first down leaves them with second and short he's run out of bounds but he's got enough to move the sticks now down to the 12 yd line it's first down he's looking to throw it he's got it on the run that completion gets them inside the 10 and the defense is running out of room to defend man down on the play as the officials take a break to let him be checked out going to work in the Red Zone they can pick up the first down without getting it into the End Zone on second down looking to throw scrambling away and he's loose and he'll take it to the house touchdowns go at night man this offense has started the season off so good one and0 a week ago right now building on it again great job putting points on the board it's still the first half but this unit looks dialed [Music] in lining up for the pat point the kick is up and good and put one more on the lead we check in with Kevin Connors what's going on Kevin Gentlemen let's take a look at what's happening in this exciting college football game South Carolina has the lead right now but this Williams Bryce crowd is restless they just haven't been able to separate themselves yet today they're up by seven over the Royals we'll Circle back if anything big happens you should know about and how about that one Kevin will be keeping an eye on everything going on elsewhere can't get him to the ground finally way run out of bounds but he has his to the first down that was a really nice catch and an even better run after the grab and get the ball to your playmaker what's good about having him in the slot is he can go either direction you can get him matched up on somebody that's not as fast and you watch he can run away from those linebackers or safeties they'll give it on the counter he make the stop after a gain of three to the 31 looks as if we have an injury on that last play we'll take a break to check him out after the three- yd pickup they come to the line Second and seven to the ground with the back nice move to pick up yardage just working and poking and plotting and finding his way up to the 36 I think you run that play so you stay out of third and long third long it's not where an offense ever wants to thrive third and medium hey I'm good with that so you run that play to make sure you're set up for a good third down oh my circle circle Spinderella put him in the spin cycle and picked up the first down are on the move the give to the big fullback and he'll pick up one it brings up second and [Music] nine bring up second stuck with a running game on first down now here they come again off the boot looking for his man nowhere to go and the ball is loose that football must be riveted to you rib cage how can you let it go at least they fell on it on Third and long he'll need to loosen up that arm guys it is ruter on top here at the end of the quarter they came out and jumped on them early in the first let's take a break and look at the first quarter stats p z and the pandas line up to punt it away this will be the second time they've had to kick it [Applause] away he gets it up to the 34 yd line before he stopped and that's where the offense will set up shot opening play of this drive comes from the 34 he'll start this drive firing they've got the screen set up still on his feet at the 45 and the explosive play and they're on the move all the way to the 44 the execution on that screen pass is one that will go into coaching Clinic nice execution on the screen allow the rush to come up field now I release get the ball to the running back I got my playmaker in space nice chunk yardage play right there by the offense man down on the play as the officials take a break to let him be checked out after picking up a couple it's second and eight he's looking to throw quarterback doing what he does best he can move and it'll be incomplete this defense is physical and pass deep the big tight end tries to make a catch and you can tell extends for the ball but great job by the defender getting in there making the hit dislodging the football out as the same time as he's going to catch it and the big tight ain't couldn't hold on to open space at the 25 and he has vexed his defense with the scrambles another first down and yet another big game The Scarlet Knights come to the line with a new set of downs [Applause] they'll run it from the gun they get him on the ground but not before he rumbles all the way to the five new center Downs right on the doorstep for this offense here's the snap looking to throw got it and he's into the end zone [Applause] they bring the punter onto the field now on to kick it [Applause] away no return coming here as he signals for the fair Catch and makes it right around the 30 yd line and the Rucker offense heads back onto the field they missed an opportunity to extend this lead the last time they had it Jesse yeah they got to be able to regain that momentum right go back to what was working earlier on in this one and David to me that starts with being the more physical team no I definitely agree being the more physical team but understanding the situation of the game you're still winning you got the football back now put a nice drive together and execute and I love the awareness by the wide receiver on that play because I'm not sure that route was supposed to be that deep you got to wonder if the receiver decided Maybe to adjust the route a little bit to make sure that he got the first down he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three now on second Down Easy he's looking to throw quickly complete still running at the 40 he got loose almost housed finally dragged down at the 32 he is having a day already visited the endzone three times and he might get back there again soon David I mean just crazy he he's getting open they haven't had an answer for him you think at some point you go all right he's not going to beat me anymore but the defense continues to give up yards and he is like yes please there to make the tackle but the big throw is good enough to give them a first down trying to cap this drive with a pass looking down the middle it's caught looks as if we have an injury on that last play and we'll take a break to check him out guys it is ruter on top here at the end of the quarter this has been a complete obliteration so far as the third quarter stats will show [Applause] you they'll try to open this quarter by sticking it in the end zone here easy moving the running back forcing the defense to adjust they're trying to get to him touchdown Scarlet Knights and the puming has started after that amazing performance in week one this offense wasn't content they felt like they left some plays out on the field even though they were able to get that win I feel like they've taken another step they've raised their intensity level they've raised their execution this team is going to be a contender this year you can just feel it about to kick it off after punch get in for the touchdown Z here he comes from inside his own five really disciplined job by the coverage unit to get down there and make the stop at the 19 all right guys so here's the offense back on the field again last time David it was one two three kick the last drive that three and out sometimes that put your defense in a bad spot and you got to get a drive together here so you don't wear the defense out I just oh it's picked off threw it right into the teeth of double coverage he didn't get a lot of return but man he set his offense up at the 30 I tell you what as a quarterback you got to have a short memory you're going to make mistakes you're going to be asked to do a lot and he throws his first career interception if I'm the coach on the sideline listen I'm bringing him over this ain't going to be your last big fella like you're going to make mistakes it's okay put it behind you next R offense has a huge lead right now in the fourth quarter and they're just going to run this football to try to ice the game being more dominant being more physical at the point of attack here's the hand off he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple it's going to be tough sledding for the offense here they're trying to ice this game by running the football and bleeding the clock they've got a pretty good lead here late in the game but the defense knows the run's coming right so they're going to be loading the line of scrimmage getting stops like what they just did be interesting to see what the offense does on this next one move around to clear up the vision and the pressure gets there and down he goes at the 18 if they can convert here that type of play can really give you a shot of momentum trying to get to him he took a hit as he threw it and couldn't deliver the football it's incomplete and fourth Down's coming so now on comes to field goal [Applause] unit e he's good good easy call for the ref well that's just piling on not the penalty kind just the mean kind they're really starting to extend that lead as they get ready to kick it away again on the move from inside is five he was looking for some Running Room but not much to be found as he stopped at the 18 and now this offense will take the field again well let's see if this drive goes better than the last one they were in and out quickly after the quick kick David yeah first play big mistake man now let's get this offense in a little bit of a rhythm maybe before you open it up again Palmer or do you trust him right away uh he seems to me like the guy maybe that just needs to kind of get into the flow of the game so maybe you get the running game going here and just give him some easy looks to let him get lathered up caught in the back field it's Jeffrey makes one man miss and they wrap him up but not before he's got enough for the first down man down on the play as the officials take a break to let him be checked out the offense setting up shop at the 46 first and 10 we he's going to pass they'll throw it to the back on the screen scen and they knock him down but he got past the line to gain looks as if we have an injury on that last play and we'll take a break to check him out the pandas have it with a first and 10 looking to move it through the air and that pressure just engulfed him a sack for this defense after the big first down sack it's second down back to throw it's Wicks right down the middle it's caught downfield they bring him down but a solid pick up to put them in position to pick up a first down now facing a third and long from the gun wants to pass throws to the wide out fires into traffic intercepted and the ball slipped out not much of a chance on the return but they'll have the ball at the 33 and first down for this offense they'll run it they want to take their time here good job running tough and behind his pads as he gets up to the 38 yd line coaches always harp about staying ahead of the chains and when you could run with that type of efficiency on first down man you are doing just that and now on second down for this offense fire right back to the well they can rely on this guy to pick up solid yardage when they need it and he's out to the 43 they have it at the 43 third and short trying to avoid making a decision on fourth down they'll try to pick up the first through the air to the sideline and he's able to tiptoe his way to a first down he might have expected to see this DB up in his receiver's kitchen instead nice little Zone and they pick up the first man offenses are getting so fires toward the end zone and give him another six grabs it for a touchdown and the blowout continues and the extra point just TS a little bit more onto this huge lead almost ready to kick it away after scoring the touchdown that makes the score here's the return from inside his 10 really disciplined job by the coverage unit to get down there and make the stop at the 19 and the offense takes the field eager to go back to work not a lot to feel great about in this one Jesse but I'm sure they'll try to seek out some positives this might be an opportunity Tu to go back when they watch this game and just find the plays and the schemes that were working they weren't a lot obviously David but maybe an opportunity for the coaching staff to condense The Playbook I was going to say there's not a lot of good to go back to that' be a quick film session cuz there was more negatives than positives but when you look at at this this week you got a week to figure it out figure out what your offense is going to be moving forward looking to throw it's Wicks pocket starts to collapse can't make the connection the pressure there caused to miss timing third and 10 still backed up inside their own 20 this drive hasn't really gotten started from the gun wants to pass and the heat gets there and they get him down at the 14 yd line on the and the pandas decide to punt it away doesn't say much for your drive when you're looking forward to the punt Fields the punt wants to make a play and The Return Man is stopped and that'll leave it up to the offense on the next Drive looking for a productive play on first down looking for room it's Collins they finally get him on the ground with the big running play moves to change for the first down with the clock running this should be the final [Applause] play trying to find his man on first down that's caught it's Collins they make the Stop and the clock strike zero and that will do it for this one now this team has consecutive wins and when you start expecting to find ways to win games and you expect that you'll perform well enough to do so that's really hard to stop it's a mindset Rees this team has it right now you can tell their players trust each other big situations arise in games they're looking at each other in the Huddle on the sideline expecting to make the play that's going to help them win games this team incredibly mentally tough right now D and you start to build that mental toughness when you start to strain together positive weeks and you start to strain together positive plays now you know you can do it it's not we talked about it in the off season oh we want to do this now
