welcome to dowy fckin Stadium home to the East Carolina Pirates where the purple has engulfed this place as they are ready for a showdown the Pirates will kick it away first and he takes this from inside the five nice job by the kickoff team everybody stayed in their lanes and they'll stop him at the 16 the pandas offense takes the field to start this game off there he is the man who makes everything go and they believe they're going to score every time they touch it when he's on the field Jesse he plays with unbelievable confidence re always knows where to go with the football the entire Playbook is at this guy's disposal yeah which is so much fun for a coach so much fun to play with him a guy that can do everything everybody on the field is active in a weapon slams into the pile he'll get one to the 17 didn't get much on first down it's second and nine they give it to him again gets it out to the 20 after a pick up of four so guys over the last few years there have been seismic changes to college football realignment name image likess but one of the biggest changes the transfer portal yeah and now guys that are unhappy or in a situation where they see something that they'd rather be in now you can leave and there is no penalty so a lot of recruiting Jesse on other people's teams that go on throughout a season yeah and he's running in the open he's at the 30 gives him the big stiff arm a huge gain on that one before he ran out of bounds and he has the first first down the pandas come to the line with a fresh set of downs and this will be incomplete a big hit there forces second down well it's a nice job by the quarterback getting the ball out of his hands quickly on that RPO he saw something he liked just not on the same page with his [Applause] Receiver right back to the air on second and 10 he's got his man that comption will take it inside the four and the offense is threatening when receivers are running slant routes against man coverage sometimes you get open using speed but sometimes it's pure physicality this receiver does a great job using his hands and then he's able to fight his way to the inside at the end of the day he just wanted that football more bed into the air and it's picked off and after the interception and the turnover this defense has set its offense up for business and how about that play by the defense here early in this game opening drive facing one of the best quarterbacks in all of college football and they're able to get an interception that is going to be massive for their confidence in this game the offense set for a first down [Music] play leaves it with the back and he's almost to that first down marker there saying he's a little bit short they might want to bring out the sticks and measure but it looks as if he'll be just short of the first down they'll run it from the gun he is tackled but it'll be a fresh set of downs you got to have short area quickness that running back there doing what it takes to make sure he got that first down now on First and 10 from the 26 going to run it it's bot and and how about the work up front by that big defensive line on second and 104 wide out set trips right quick release on the RPO there to make the tackle but the big throw is good enough to give them a first down and the Pirates are moving quickly down the field the give to the tail back found enough room to get it into enemy territory there down ear 43 yd line offense getting set for first down Garcia to pass and that incomplete pass caused by the big hit on first down second down coming after the quarterback and receiver failed to hook up they'll try it again on second down they go to the ground he picks up four that'll leave them with third and six trying to pick up a first down they'll keep it on the ground and the defense had his hands for but they finally wrestle him down short of the first down off facing a field goal try would have been a 51 y they'll opt instead to try to move the chains on fourth down they stop him go to the marker and they'll turn it over on Downs low man wins defense that time on fourth down was expecting run and you saw at the point of attack how they just dominated there was nowhere for that guy to go defense wins the down they give it back up now to their offense he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three not what they had in mind to start this drive here comes second and 13 he's looking to throw good quickness to grab it off the deflection turns it on in Midfield oh so much for the members bounce they get a break on the road here and how about that for this offense the worst thing you could do when you're on the road is ignite the home crowd this offense got a nice break early and a chance to not Rousey up this crowd early in the game little too soft in that run defense he picks up four to the 32 the playaction fake and the britz gets to him just like that playaction pass success has a lot to do with selling that fake you could tell defense was not buying it got in the back field got the big play Third and long and he'll try to throw for it fires the pass intercepted takes it the other way he's inside the 40 and they capitalize not only on the pick but the great return to give the off tremendous field position as they get set to snap it just about to reach the end of the quarter pulls and fires it complete to the right gets out of bounds after the big game but they've got it first and [Applause] [Music] goal it's been a defensive battle through the first period and the stats tell that tale starting off this quarter close enough to smell the goal line he'll ride his man on the option they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one the Pirates want to move [Applause] quickly trying to slam in and he takes it to the house touchdown ECU can't start a game any better than that defense gets the stop gives it back to the offense you march down the field you score they are in a great Rhythm now on both sides the about to kick it off after punching it in for the touchdown and there will be no return on this one as the ball bouns into the end zone they'll put this one in play first snap of the drive from the [Applause] 25 the give to the back at the 35 he's loose really good job job to pick up a chunk of yardage and get it out to the 39 yd line here's this offense with a fresh set of downs comes out throwing on first down takes the easy throw in the flat and the defense had that one well covered just a short gain there well he comes up with the reception but not a lot of room to run after that yeah and I like the QB doing this I mean I'm going to find ways to give him the football and see if he can make Miss and I'm going to bet most of the time that my guy is a little bit more athletic than that defensive guy defense won this battle but I like trying to get this guy the ball in space on third down he drops to throw and he is finding wideopen Defenders all over the field his third interception of the day a veteran in this defense stay locked in on his rules and made the interception East Carolina has it back in the purple pirate off will go to work Jesse a very productive Drive last time wound up with a touchdown yeah mixing and matching play calling really well nice balance on that last one day we'll see what they can do here in this next Drive yeah and I don't expect anything different when you put together a drive like that I would do more of the same keep the pace keep it going makes that one pay off and they finally get him down at the 38 it'll be first down here's this offense with a fresh set of downs quarterback on the keeper and a good solid pick up before the defense Cuts him down offense gets set for second down the give to the left side defense there to stop him after a gain of three but he is inside the 30 to the 29 they probably feel good about their field goal chances from the 29 but they'd love to convert this third and short if they're able to make that pick they're wiping points off the board but because he dropped it now it's fourth down and of course they're still in field goal wrange with an opportunity to score three touch pass on the run and they finally make the tackle but this will be a pretty easy conversion for this offense and the Pirates are flying down the field they've marched to the Red Zone and here they go throws to the wide out he makes a grab he'll be stopped just short of the end zone but they'll have it first and goal this offensive scoring position with a fresh set of downs they'll run the option and the ball is free on the pitch now the defense has got it in there going the other way pass to 50 the 30 he's at the 20 touch down pandas not content to get the fumble they scored with the fumble number 41 this time it's the defense finding ways to put points on the board there is nothing better than being a Defender seeing that ball in the end zone your eyes get big as saucers go jump on that puppy secure it get you a touchdown on the run from inside his own five not a lot of space to be found good Hustle by the coverage team and they stop him at the 21 East Carolina sending the offense back to work they'll run the RPO and Fire to the right good call good execution as they move the chains and they have a first down at the 38 he had the perfect play to open the drive and now they'll snap it again from the 38 to the air on first down might be looking to run they wanted to get that ball to the outside quickly and it just about went the other way it'll be second down couldn't make the connection last time let's see if they throw it again oh the sweet Juke gets him free he now has 53 yds on the ground and he wanted to make a first impression and he's doing that in this opening game the inside handoff we'll give him a couple on that one second and eight coming up and those physical runs take a toll it might not be a big game now but down the road third fourth quart late in the ball games they tend to turn into bigger rocks Garcia wants to throw trying to beat the D deep and it's caught inside the 20 and he strides his way into the end zone touchdown purple Pirates and I just love the execution by this offense late in the half man you want to take the lead you want to get that momentum on your side and they do it they finish it with the passing game and tell you what heat that passing game up you can keep this lead keep the momentum and keep putting up [Applause] numbers looking for a productive play on first down he wants to start this drive with a pass pressure coming and the quarterback is knocked down back at the 13 timeout called here by the defense is the first one they've used this half so just how aggressive can they afford to be as they snap it on second and long from the 13 he's looking to throw unloads to the Wi out how about getting the foot down on that throw for the big completion got to get to the line quickly for this third down play he'll try to get it through the air he almost had another one they've already picked off three and just a hair away from number four there and the pandas send out the punt unit getting our first look of the afternoon at the [Applause] punter he's got great speed there he goes open it up really nice job all the way around got a few blocks made a couple of moves and a good return on that one before he's pushed out of bounds a great spot to start this drive for the offense extending the play firing to the right complete and they'll finally catch up to him but not before a big chunk of yardage is picked up they've moved it into scoring territory first and 10 from the 11 he wants to throw he's got it on the move and he'll make his way out of bounds after the solid pickup nice Patience by the quarterback here working to get Zone coverage he was allowing his receiver an opportunity to find that open space in the defense before pulling the trick the terrain gets rough this deep in the Red Zone third down they can't pick up the first without scoring he wants it all and he's got it touchdown Pirates yeah now this offense building that lead it's still the first half but I tell you what shown some of why they could become a really really good offense listen you go into halftime more of the same right continue to do what you're doing take care of the football this offense has looked really good in the first half he thought about bringing that out for a half second but he'll take a knee and they'll bring it to the 25 and the offense back on the field ready to dial up ball plays coming out on first down with the play fake and the pass rush is effective and they tackle him at the 19 the defense uses their second timeout of the half as they try to get their act together quarterback wants to throw on second down that one never had a chance incomplete know sometimes the hardest completions for quarterbacks are the ones where guys are wide open you don't have to throw it any faster trying to get it to him quickly because you know he's so wide open like on that last play just take your steps throw in Rhythm and just throw a catchable ball referee signals time out it's the defense wanting to make sure that they have everything just right with a big play coming trying to play a little field position with that high high punt man it looked like that was a house call he made the first guy miss it was going to the house he was going to score a touchdown and then man what a big turn of events talk about shiting momentum he always a welcome play for the defense as they get a sack at the 47 a timeout is called as this offense tries to find a way to get more points on the board before the half this pass rush has just been Relentless and you can bet your bottom dollar they're about to bring the heat again that pass is incomplete and they're probably fortunate that it wasn't knock free for a [Music] fumble leaves it with the back smashes through he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three numberi here's the punt and that is a major league popup that thing's going to bring rain they'll knock him down and that'll take us to halftime that's going to wrap up the first half here and now we join Kevin with the halftime update guys one of the best atmospheres in football and we've got a fun one from Greenville the pandas will kick it off to start the second half on the move from inside is five really disciplined job by the coverage unit to get down there and make the stop at the 19 East Carolina has it back and the purple pirate offense will go to work they have the lead to start the third quarter but I'd imagine ball security was a topic at halftime yeah and I think you take the lead and you try to stay optimistic with your team but you also say guys if we had have taken care of the football this lead would be even bigger and we might have already knocked them out already Palmer it's just about eliminating the mistakes at this point you're right this thing would be over if they hadn't shot themselves in the foot so ball security that is at premium as this game goes they'll snap this one from the 32 it's first down can't find his man as he took a shot trying to deliver that football and it'll be second down couldn't make the connection last time let's see if they throw it again and he won't quite get there but boy after that pick up just a few inches to go for the the first an array of possibilities here the Pirates get enough for the first down and that's so tough as a defense because they only got to get inches but I got to find a way to somehow get a knock back stop the running back's feet right there I couldn't do it he gets downhill just enough and he gets the first down it's a good job to there on third down by the offense because of nature statistic in football in terms of winning and losing is how good are you at staying on the field keeping drives alive whether it's third long or third and inch you just have to go execute they do it trying to wear down this defense a seventh play of the drive it's third and one they'll stick to the ground looking for the marker now with a great opportunity as they pick up the first down they've got it at the 40 and the Pirates come to the line with a new set of downs on the ground it's Harris he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple you know defensively you live by the Blitz and you die by the blitz that time they dialed it up into the Run play and the linebacker able to make a nice tackle and he does a really nice job finding open space and making a good gain before the stop is made long drive continues as the offense keeps working the ball down the field caught close to the marker it's Kelly brought down just outside the Red Zone he moves the chains it's at the 22 they are getting deep into the Playbook 11th play of the drive from the shotgun now here's an inside GI he rolls all the way down to the 5 yd line before they finally get him stopped he's racked up 92 yds rushing now here in week one a solid start to this new campaign he'll pull it on the re and he rolls into the house touchdown East Carolina the offense strikes again to extend it lead here in the second half and they got everything worthy how great is this you extend your lead now you get your defense back on the field great job taking advantage the situation build it on that lead lining up to cover the kick after that touchdown drive and no chance at a return here they'll start this drive at their own 25 all right guys so here's the offense back on the field again they're down by 21 points but you got a touchdown here and you do at least apply a little game pressure Jesse it's true I think for them to get back in this one at this point now they need the quarterback to play his best football he's going to have to be good really pre- snap David making sure they're in the right looks and he's got to be really good with his decision making he's got to be dowed in because defensively you're giving up points so it's not like you have the luxury for defense playing great the offense is going to have to score and score pretty dang quickly Red Pass it's complete at the 45 on it way and he gets a big chunk of yardage to the 34 yd Line That's What's So Scary About This offense they've got guys in the perimeter that can change the game in one single play and you saw it right there too much speed on the perimeter to create that explosive play the plows ahead for a pickup of one to the 32 didn't get much on first down it's second and nine he's looking to throw tosses it incomplete third down and this offense is already in a world of trouble they could really use the conversion not to mention multiple scores off the play fake just can't pull the trigger in the quarterback is sacked at the 41 and the pandas will call on their punt team he's getting a lot of work fourth time he's punted tonight and The Return Man will have no chance as the ball sails out of bounds East Carolina sending the offense back to work there have been few obstacles for this offense as they are starting to pull away here in the second half Jesse and this has been a dream game for this play caller too right it's like anything that he's calling is working flawlessly yeah it's fun to be the offensive coordinator but not the defensive coordinator they have had no answers it's been an absolutely miserable day trying to Solve the Riddle of this offense it's first and 10 from the 38 yd line they're getting this guy lathered up a most efficient pick up of six on first down it's second and four power football with the run there to make the Stop and we played three in this one no question they wanted to get the ball to their Playmakers and both receivers have come up big through three after the last run would you just give it to him again on third down he'll try to pick it up on the ground the Pirates have a first down third and one you know what time it is it's about the big boys up front you got to give me a little bit of space a little crack you just can't give up that penetration so my running back can fall forward just like that and get the first down got eight on first down now looking at a second and two hands it off one step WRA Two Step squeeze this junior knows how to get him on the ground trying to wear down this defense a seventh play of the drive it's third and one they'll try to run for it they'll move the chains good execution on third down they've got it at the 4 one and the pirates with the first and 10 might as well run him until they stop him he's got it again really nice run there good solid pick up and back essentially just did everything right not only he rip off a 9yd run with the lead late in the game but he stayed in bounds he had the awareness that if I stay in bounds the clock keeps running and it increases our chances of winning this game the Pirates trying to pay off the threat on first and goal and this is exactly what you want to do when you're on offense you have the lead you want to chew the clock keep the ball in the ground keep that thing just ticking touchdown ECU and the Beat down has ensued well I think this home environment was just too much for their opponents to handle there's been unbelievable noise and energy the crowd showed up today but how about the playmaking on the field these guys have got dudes all over the field and this kind of win week one sends a statement and reverberates all across college football not a lot of space to be found good Hustle by the coverage team and they stop him at the 21 line gets set first down let's go they're going to open this drive with a pass and the quarterback is knocked down back at the 13 they're going to be in a world of hurt if they don't get this thing going forward here on second down from the 13 he's looking to throw fires to the wide out got a man in the middle they make the stop but not before he takes a chunk out of what they need to move the sticks fairly manageable distance here on third down from the 27 feeling some heat and the pressure was too much they get him at the 15 the pandas will bring the punt team onto the field three and out they got stuck in Reverse they hope the punt can bail them out he only needs a sliver of daylight he'll get it up to about the 44 yd line before they slam the brakes on him East Carol has it back and the purple pirate offense will go to work they'll keep it on the ground they want this clock to move and this one will be stopped for No Gain got stuffed on first down it's second and 10 the GI to the backat still on his feet at the 45 boy did he look as if he was going to go gets it down to the 37 this offense absolutely humming as they come to the line again he'll keep it himself they'll force him out of bounds after a solid pick up offens is ice football games in the fourth quarter by running the football and that's what these guys are trying to do right now right we're going to bleed the clock we're going to stay on the field it doesn't matter if the defense knows we're running it they cannot stop us and they're looking pretty impressive right now doing it the stop is made but this offense is threatening first and gooll from the nine and the Pirates are marching down the field defense is backed up shadow of the goal post trying to defend their own End Zone wide receiver shows motion touch pass on the Jet Sweep they make the stop but there is a flag on the field we'll see what that's all about holding holding penalties the ultimate Drive killer we'll see if it cost this offense here defense is backed up shadow of the coordinate like when you've got the lead late in the football game just run the football eat the clock man they put a good day together they they theyve had a they' had their way with this defense a lot of positive things the point this is one of those weeks when you watch tape it's going to be really fun to watch not like when you get beat up a lot of big plays from this offense absolutely perfect and they just tack on a little more to this gantu [Music] lead they're really starting to extend that lead as they get ready to kick it away again here he comes from inside his own five nice then at all the makings of bug meet windshield but how about the little corner taking on the big tight end and keeping him from getting the first picked up some yardage with that completion now second down a deep throw as the clock winds down a sensational grab down the field there as they try to at least put a positive spin on the end of this game and he'll take it in for the touchdown it won't have much impact on the outcome of the game but it is a fabulous Parting Gift a consolation prize if you will we check in with Kevin Connors what's going on Kevin two very different emotions inside the locker rooms of these teams who did battle today Temple looked like a program ready to take the next step after a big road win today this was a complete team effort from the Allies offense defense and special team all doing its part impressive to say the least running back searching for a hole it's one game you don't want to react too much either way but I think both teams will leave this one with some things to work on moving forward and Kevin Conor's keeping an eye on everything all over the country sounds like they had a good one there the Pirates want to crank the tempo out of the gun the inside handoff looking for a creas and he was able to get away from one tackle but plenty of help was on the way decent pick up on that play from the shotgun they'll run it and the Pirates will down to the 5 yd line timeout is called with just two seconds left to go Time Out East Carolina and while they could run Victory formation you also have to think about patting those stats it is perfect and now the lead extended a little they get a big win here and start the season on a positive note you got to love that as the players you come out you have so much anticipation coming into the season finally getting ready to play in front of a live audience you're able to come out and execute and get this
