welcome to Buffalo New York and UB Stadium home of the Buffalo Bulls where the fans know that no one circles the wagons like the Buffalo Bulls we've got a terrific match up for you today rich in pageantry and tradition and it ought to be a fantastic clash as we'll see the UMass Minutemen taking on a squad hoping to prevent another L this week the buffalo bulls for EA Sports college football ree Davis with you alongside David Pollock and Jesse Palmer and guys can't wait to get this one started [Applause] the Bulls will kick it away to start us off looking for an alley from inside his own 10 F he's just enough space to cross the 25 let's mark it at the 27 yd line so UMass offense will get the first crack at it here and here he is guys anytime he takes the field he is in complete control of this offense and David he gives defensive coordinators nightmares because of his ability they're going to have a hard time slowing him down no he just doesn't have those weaknesses those flaws the whole Playbook available and he is a dude now the play fake complete to the left they'll get him down but not before he crosses the 50 he's down to the 49 they've come out with answers on this possession and now another first down gets it out quickly and he'll step out of bounds after a very productive play got some of the work done on first now let's see what they have on second down just a short pass to the tight end tackled almost immediately they're well short of the first down third down coming they'll try to run for it putting together a real scoring threat here as they pick up the first down at the 36 and that's a first down for the leaves it with the back tackled at the 31 they'll give him six on the play got six on first down now a lot of options on second and four dropping back it's puman and they can't make the connection here comes the seventh play of this opening drive they've moved it well but now facing third down from the gun wants to pass he's got his man across the middle and how about that catch and run so dangerous this guy UMass getting set to snap it on First and 10 good enough for a first down leaves it with the running back here is trying to bash It Forward he got a couple it's down at the 11 operating in the Red Zone here on second down he's looking to throw he snares it in the end zone touchdown minute man and that is exactly what you love to see as a head coach watching your offense take the field first drive of the game and you're methodical and you take what the defense gives you you make good decisions you don't have negative plays you don't have missed assignments that shows your head coach that you are locked in and ready to go they'll try to attack one more on their score and he's got the extra point and it's seven nothing to start this one they put together a 74 yd touchdown drive and they finish it with an 11 yd touchdown Dart Buffalo he'll bring it back from inside his SP just never had a chance to shake loose and he'll be brought down at the 24 so Buffalo's offense has its first opportunity of the day the offense set for a the first down play running it to the right they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one didn't get much done on that first play of the drive it's second and 11 they'll try the run into a massive giant bodies we'll call it a one yard gain to the 24 now facing a third and long third down coming up back to pass it's agbar wide open downfield he's loose he's at the 10 touchdown Bulls What A Catch and run for six did not take long to get into the end zone now and see if this gets this offense to hit overdrive and we may have a situation here we might have points more points and more points you keep putting Drives together like that that quickly tune up that much yardage defense is are going to have to get something f it [Music] out he'll try to tack on one more for extra point smashes it through for the p8 quick strike offense on that three playay scoring drive and they get it done with a big play a 76y for the score here's the return from inside is 10 able to find enough room to get it out across the 25 he's brought down at the 26 the UMass offense returns to the field they'll throw it on first down quickly out to the tight end and the big fella couldn't elude the cornerback who makes a short tackle now on second and short after the first down completion the play action fake fires to the middle and it's picked off not a lot on the return but they can live with that as they've got it at the 49 timing has to be so good when you're throwing at his own defense over the middle of the field Ball's got to come out specifically on time cuz these windows close really quickly ball there thrown a little bit late as a result as an [Music] INT offense set on first down they'll come out on this drive and let it rip grabbed in the back field it's Jenkins and that play just looked to be a mess from the snap and he's right out of bounds behind the line of scrimmage he's looking for an open man on second down zingit complete to the right they make the stop after the catch and still still some work to do to pick up that first down that last completion still leaving them with a third down now they'll run the draw tough hard noosed running he got three but he needed four it's fourth down and one the Bulls line up to punt it away first punt of the day and he'd love to lock them up close to their goal line and the punt hits at the eight and goes into the end zone for the Touchback the minute man going back to to work on offense one of the most valuable things a quarterback can have David shortterm memory just forget that last pick you're dang right clear the mechanism it's over move it behind some players can't do that real well and it leads to more mistakes Jesse you got to just forget about it and move on and I think the coaching staff can help him too David I think you can get the running game going here and also give him some easy throws they've got a first and 10 at the 34 hand off from the shotgun he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three last play was a near disaster now dealing with second and 13 they try to pop a run on the draw they make the stop but not before he takes a chunk out of what they need to move the sticks how bold will they be on third down after that last run to the air it's puman working that left side he found plenty of room and he gets it to the 39y Y Line you Mass quickly back to the line wow and what a great job by that quarterback finding his open receiver on third down you know guys one of the most telling stats at the end of the game is third down conversion percentage if you're a great third down team it's invaluable to your offensive success and that's why teams drill third down so much of prence looks as if the defense was a little too eager there got into the neutral zone and that'll be a 5y defense neutral zone in fraction will push the ball up five yds here comes the offense on second down he'll pull it on the read ran through the contact they make the Stop and that's how the first quarter will end we played one and we are right back where we started all tied up after the first period as we take a look at the stats that first quarter set the standard and we hope we get a lot more of that here in the second UMass getting set to snap it on First and 10 the give to the running back from the shotgun he showed it all there a little elusiveness a little power and he's got the first down here's this offense with a fresh set of downs they believe they can run right here here pushes ahead for a pick up of one down to the 13 going to work on second down in the red zone is still some ground to cover to pick up that first down from the gun they'll give it on the inside gets it all the way down to the 2yd line he was fighting for that end zone UMass lines up with a first and goal he'll do it himself he's got it down to the one yd line right on the doorstep of per we'll see if the offense can punch it in on second and goal to throw it's puman still looking on the move and the defense makes a play sacking him back at the 10 the how about that from the offense second and goal everything says you might run the football they try to throw it and man was that unsuccessful sitting back in the pocket just throw the football away don't take the sack don't go backward esally inside the three yd line set up in such good position they've gotten pushed back but is still third and goal from the gun wants to pass and he got a hand on it to knock it down in the end zone they'll play it safe and send out the field goal unit and this one splits the upright and guys after the field goal now they have the lead we check in with Kevin Connor what's going on Kevin two very different emotions inside the locker rooms of these teams who did battle today Old Miss showed its toughness on the road and picked up a crucial Victory and every win counts don't get me wrong but the victories outside of the Comforts of Home can really serve as a springboard the circle of life in college football where one team moves on feeling like kings and the other heads home licking its wounds and Kevin Conor is keeping an eye on everything all over the country sounds like they had a good one there the Buffalo offense headed back to the [Applause] field he'll keep it himself Gun Room at the 35 really good job to pick up a chunk of yardage and get it out with the 39 yd line good enough for a first down from the gun leaves it on the inside with the back he locked up and held on to bring him down got stuffed on first down it's second and 10 off the bootleg and rolling out no where close on that one as he got drilled trying to deliver the football and now they face third down back to throw it's agbar and the quarterback is snow under you're not going to win a lot of games if you can't protect your quarterback in their last game they got sacked four times lost the game and so far in this one they're having difficulty again these guys up front have got to do a better job communicating and giving their QB time and the Bulls will send out the punt unit this will be the second time they've had to kick it away he'll call for the the fair catch here the UMass offense returns to the field and to settle for the Chip Shot field goal last time Jesse they love for this one to pay off bigger yeah it just comes down to execution too did a nice job out in the field stalled a little bit once they got down to the goal line so they just need to be a little bit more Cris yeah and listen I I think the first part was the most important part you got to put the drive together first to get down there now when we get down there focus on execution and getting six points a third and long coming up here from the gun wants to pass moves around to clear up the vision and he avoids the hit and slides after the short gain UMass will line up to pun it away this will be their first punt of the afternoon they're able to put a stop to that return right at the 30 Y Line they'll crank up this drive from the 30 yd line to the ground with the Batman Powers through the defender and the defense stops him just short of the first down maybe needed a few more chain links to move the sticks wide receiver coming across in motion touch pass on the Jet Sweep they'll move the chains after he gets it to the 43 ydd line would they go for a big play on First and 10 first the off hand off from the gun he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three last play was a near disaster now dealing with second and 13 from the gun the running back looking for room a confident tough efficient run gets it up to the 44 a chance to sort of put the defense on its heels if you convert a third and this one from the 44 oh picked off takes it the other way the 30 and they capitalized not only on the pick but the great return to give the offense tremendous field position QB never saw the defender he's staring his receiver down telegraphing his throw and the DB jumped all over that [Applause] the minute man going back to work on offense after a punt on their last possession they are set up in plus territory this time and honestly it wouldn't have mattered if they scored a touchdown their last possession you've got to be able to turn the page and see this as a brand new opportunity to go get points yeah and your defense has set you up for a position to get points right away now let's get this offense back rolling again create some momentum just get a few first downs and I'm in position and they'll finally get him down after a terrific pickup that's first the we've reached a two-minute warning and we'll see if the offense can build on this lead before the break he's looking to throw it get it out on the screen they'll get it down to the8 yd line on that throw and catch and the defense is backed up against the wall back to throw it's kumachan to the end zone and it's picked off who says defensive backs don't have in nice job breaking the football and makeing the catch a lot of times you see guys SWAT it down or you see them trying to catch it looks like they have two left hands defensive packs don't catch real well nice job BR the football nice job securing the int and actually catching [Music] it Buffalo has it back let's see what the Bulls offense can do after throwing the a pick on the last drive need to take care of the ball this time Jesse we're going to find out a lot about this quarterback right here too how does he fight through adversity after that last Drive yeah clear the mechanism move on that that's a part of it right if you're going to be a great player you got to learn how to handle these mistakes and move on finds it back in the middle out to the 35 yd line and a little extra breathing room with that 15yd pickup it's a first down they'll stop the clock to reset the chains offense Up Tempo looking to move it through the air and the senior would love to have that one back just a little too much on the pass that incompletion leads to Second down and 10 back to the air one more time quickly complete he knew exactly where he wanted to go with that one and they've got enough for the first down a timeout is called as this offense tries to find a way to get more points on the board before the half fires to the big fella and just a short safe pass play they pick up a few quick Tempo no huddle off and second down clock's running he's looking to throw quickly complete how about this backer in pass coverage and bringing the big hit stick with him too on Third and short they'll try to pick it up with the pass and he'll be taken down but he does have enough for the the first down the Bulls come to the line with a new set of downs wants to throw on first down quickly to the tight end and that defense doesn't allow a cut back and they get him out of bounds after a short gain that completion leaves us with second and medium looking to throw it's Agana fires to the tight end they make the stop but not before they do their work up top and pick up a first down there's a Timeout on the field tight game here late in the first half they've marched to the Red Zone and here they go caught over the middle it's Jenkins he'll be brought down at the three yd line an explosive play in the passing game has on the door step snap it to the back he steps and powers and works his way they finally get him down at the two and the Bulls are in the hurry up on second down looking to throw fires into the end zone and it's caught touchdown buffalo buffalo and this offense right now they're doing some damage through the air that's now their second passing touchdown they thought coming into this game they were going to have some matchups on the perimeter of the field that they could take advantage of and they've done that so far here today [Music] ready to try the point after for the extra point and the extra point is good and it's a four-point lead they put it in the end zone with a 12pl scoring drive and it was finished off with a two- yd touchdown tun from inside his own 15 trying to follow his blockers able to find enough room to get it out across the 20 he's brought down at the [Applause] 26 and as we wind down here in the first half the offense will just take a knee and try to muster its forces for the second half attack as they Trail going to the break we played two quarters here time to go to Kevin Connors in our halftime update guys you've had yourselves a superb broadcast so far today in Western New York and we have to start this halftime breakdown by addressing the play of this Elite wide receiver this is clearly a young man who once he's finished playing on Saturdays he's going to be playing on Sundays the kid has different gears he has a knack for finding gaps in the defense and I can't remember a college player with that kind of catch radius and with that let's send it back to the fellas inside picturesque UB Stadium the returner will field it and bring it back didn't find any in crease in that kickoff coverage and he'll be stopped at the 17 the Buffalo offense headed back to the field they got plenty done through the air in the first half and we'll see if they even need to look for balance as we start the third quarter well and I and I think defensively you understand like the running game isn't a big part of the plan I wonder how they adjust and play more coverage to this pass happy offense yeah so you're going to have to be ready if you're a quarterback then you're probably going to see some different coverages you might see a little bit more Blitz in the second half as well so you have to know where your answers are third dropping back it's Agana b a little time lets it go he makes the grab that's the kind of play that can really get you going as they get it out to the 36 first wide out in motion quick touch pass to the receiver and he is swarmed under a host of Defenders there to make the stop second down coming defense a little too jumpy there and they got into the neutral zone too soon encroachment defense defense just a little too eager and that's five yards for the O A little misdirection and the handoff on the counter the Bulls get up to move the chains the offense will put in play from the 47 on first and 10 and that's a first he wants to throw grabbed over the middle it's moral and quarterback receiver on the same page nice job seeing the Zone understanding the drag route concept easy pitch easy catch and he intercepts it and he'll be marked down but what a play to come up with that interception and we know turnover margin is a huge part of winning ball game games interception number two this quarterback has to do a better job taking care of the football Don't Force It take the high completion percentage stuff don't always try to go for the big play the UMass offense returns to the field the give to the tailb he breaks a tackle coaches always harp about staying ahead of the chains and you can run with that type of efficiency on first down man you are doing just that he leaves it with his back that's what you expect from a senior don't give them any extra yards great tackle there here on third down will they go back to the running game to the ground to try to pick up the first and they make the stop just short of the line to gain inches to go it'll be fourth down UMass will line up to PL it away how about this it's out of bounds inside the 10 and they're going to mark it right around the 5 yd line what a great job there the give to the back looks as if he'll work his way forward and get it up to about the 11 yd line they can really be aggressive after that last play it's second and three pulls it and fires to the left he'll get it out to the 20 not bothered at all being packed up and they've got a first down the give to the back first that's the kind of play that can really get you going as they get it out to the 36 and the Bulls will have it first and 10 quarterback touch pass on the Jet Sweep they've got it to the 49 yd line and they'll move the chain first down here for the offense and another first down they'll put the tight end in motion off the play fake on first down fires on the move and it just squired through his hands he wanted to take off and got too anxious and the incompletion brings up a second down for this offense got it in the middle it's Johnson and The Catch was one thing in the one even better a big pick up on that one it's first down from the 37 yd line first from the gun give on the inside didn't get much done on that run he'll fight his way out and maybe maybe pick up a yard back to throw it's Agana they're setting up the screen not a whole lot of room there on that screen pass as it just never developed eighth play of the drive and to keep this one going they'll need to convert a third and five complete with conviction on the Crosser and oh he was Off to the Races after the catch and they finally drag him down on first down from the 13 yd line they'll go to the ground he'll be brought down at the 5 yd line and this defense is on its heels going to work in the Red Zone they can't pick up the first down without getting it into the end zone from the gun the ground game and he's knocked down but there's also laundry on the field we'll see what the officials have [Applause] called amazing how many times an offensive holding penalty will stall a drive we'll see if the offense can overcome it quarterback on the keeper got some room headed to the goal line and he'll step into the end zone touchdown Buffalo and these design QB runs man they really test the physicality of this defense knowing this quarterback's going to Tilt The Rock they know that there's now an extra blocker so somebody on defense is going to have to make a superhuman effort get off a block and make a play they could not get that done [Music] with getting set for the point after is on for the extra point and the extra point will tack another one onto this lead let's go to the studio now and check in with Kevin Connor Kevin what do you got all right guys want to update you on a game that went final moments ago Michigan left little doubt you know this version of the ma and blue can hang with any of the teams of the past and remember this is a program with multiple national titles 60 Minutes of football and a convincing outcome and certainly a game with implications far beyond just the standings fellas yeah how about that sounds as if they had a good ball game there Kevin thanks for the update time winding down in the quarter as they come to the line from the gun he leaves it with the back they bring him down he's got a first down but that might be the final play of the third quarter here's this offense with a fresh set of downs guys we've reached the end of the quarter and buffalo is on top they're sitting in a strong position here with the lead let's take a look at our game [Applause] summary one more period to go to see who can make the winning plays and come home with the victory now it's first and 10 from the 46 yd line to the ground he's got it again running with power I know it's sexy to throw the football but if you can pound it away and get these kind of gains they will just add up wear the defense down get first downs and ultimately get some points he stopped at the 32 yd line pick up a five on the play and it'll be a first down here's this offense with a fresh set of downs they'll give it to the back and he does a really nice job finding open space and making a good gain before the stop is made they'll run it out of the shotgun he got a bunch and look close to getting a lot more but he's got the first down this offense is scoring position with a fresh set of downs turning to the running game on first and goal and you can forget running in the middle against this defense and the D denied him on second and [Applause] goal and the quarterback goes down at the 11 yd line on the perfect execution by this defense they played pass sat back looked at the quarterback took everything away and even better good pass rush finishes it now put him in a predictable third and long situation and they'll come to the line and try to draw a little bit closer on Third and goal to the air it's puman looking for the score reels it in in the end zone touchdown yourap this guy's an excellent route Runner and he has really good hands you've got to that's now his third receiving touchdown they've only played three games nobody can cover this guy up to this point of the Season obvious thinking here get the two-point conversion now and all you'll need is a field goal to tie he's looking to pass finds his big tight end he is denied no good on the two-point try and the lead remains at [Applause] five and he takes this from inside the five he was hoping for something a little more Dynamic but they get him on the ground at the 20 Buffalo has it back but see what the Bulls offense can do man what a drive last time for the touchdown that passing attack was Lethal David yeah and you know you hear all these stupid commentators like me and Jesse talking about create balance you know run and pass no when you throw that good spin the ball around so the defense has to find a way to affect the quarterback on this drive because last drive he had way too much time facing a third down and short from the 26 looking to throw for it can't make the connection on third down thanks to that tough hard-nosed pass defense and now it's Fourth Down that's usually Prime return position but he'll make the fair catch just outside the 40 first down for this offense from the shotgun the inside give and he's able to shed one tackle and pick up pretty good yardage good spot after that seven yd pickup on first down it's second and three dropping back it's pachan fires to the big fella and he might be known for run Fitch but that was a sure and heavy tackle on the tight end on Third and short they'll go to the power running game they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one UMass will line up to pun it away let's see if he can help the coverage team out with this one and they'll haul down the returner to start us on the next Drive the Buffalo offense headed back to the field they'll leave it with him here just trying to flex the muscle they get him down at the 34 after a pickup of four solid pick up a full on first down it's second and six got it in the middle it's moral just making a play getting it to the 23 yd line it'll be first down here's this offense with a fresh set of downs comes out throwing on first down using the quick game and he goes out of bounds after a nice pick up on that one operating in the Red Zone here on second down he's looking to throw it's caught and the catch and run into the end zone touchdown Buffalo they push the lead out here in the fourth quartering poos to getting back on track and going two and one and there's so many targets to focus on and so many Elite Playmakers and they just lost lost him they lost the running back out of the back field he catches the football does the rest takes it into the end zone what a nice weapon to have on your team they'll try to add another to their lead and with the extra point the lead is a dozen here in the fourth quick work on that scoring drive just four plays and they finish it by firing one in from the 13 for the score he'll bring it out from inside his own 10 he was hoping for something a little more Dynamic but they get him on the ground at the 20 the minute man going back to work on offense to the air it's puman finds his man out to the 35 yd line in a little extra breathing room with that 15yd pickup good start to this drive and they'll need much much more if they're going to give him a finish they need a ton more of this but you got to start the drives great the first play needs to be really good that was a good start now we got to keep building on it and we got to do it in a hurry finallyy run out of bounds but he has this offense rolling with a first down he's going to pass throws to the wide out incomplete thanks to the great defensive pressure there that sort of threw them out of rhythm and now on second down for this offense they want to just keep throwing R On Target this time just what they were looking for and he's got him set up in business at the 35 with a first down well down two possessions good news is you get the completion bad news though did not get out of bounds you know right now saving the clock that is at can't find a man and he'll be knocked down at the 40 hum Mas quickly back to the line he's back to throw on second down fires to the middle oh so close to paying off the tip drill he had it in his hands but it falls incomplete on Third and long he'll need to push it downfield a strike downfield and sure tackling there to keep him from getting to the first down marker on fourth down they'll pass for it and they get to him and sack the quarterback and they'll stop the drive on downs and the sense of urgency has got to go up now for the defense right you just failed on fourth down you're trailing just under 3 minutes to go what can the defense do can you create a turnover can you at least get a quick three and out to give yourselves a chance to win Buffalo has it back let's see what the Bulls offense can do line gets set first down they'll keep it on the ground the clock is on their side really nice stop there from this senior leader second down here and maybe they've got time to get one more snap off before the two-minute warning we' reached the two-minute warning and this offense will be quite content just to drain the rest of the time away he makes the stop at at the 48 that'll be enough for a first down and a pick up of 10 quick timeout called by the defense stopping the clock to save as much time as possible for their offense from the gun the give looking for room how about the blow he delivered in banging his way to the 41 defense uses a timeout quickly trying to get that ball back and preserve time for their offense from the gun and they'll try the middle stop is made at the 36 let's call it a 5yd gain and a first down the defense Burns their third and final timeout of the half and they'll take a KN the best play call as an offensive play caller is always Victory formation run the clock out this team now goes to two and one a lot of season left nice job getting the win today a strong methodical workmanlike effort from this team No Frills just get the job done and get the win I love when you describe my teams like that just consistent you know methodical strong I don't have to do things special every single week all I'm supposed to do is get the W and that's what they did and this is why practice is so important guys you can tell that this team was locked in way back earlier in the week they watched the film they got good looks in practice they knew what to anticipate they knew what looks they were
