lockdown Sports Detroit now back to the Tigers game because let's talk about how big of a game this was I mean you're coming off two straight losses I know last night didn't go the way the Tigers wanted with the extra innings loss they showed some resiliency to come back and tie it and tonight was just a night you had to have and you turned to your Ace your horse Terk scoble 16 and4 Major League leading 16th win and again I just you can't say enough about how good TK scoble was tonight as for the offense they got it going in the bottom of the second with that two run frame and it came on one swing the swing by Sweeney and they call it a double but uh you know I I think that's generous to get the double could have been called an air with the play um that wasn't made by the socks but on that play credit to Zack mckinstry for the base running because he had to pause at second base um and wasn't able to fully you know because of the nature of the play wasn't able you know it's normally on a double somebody from second scor is easily Tolson scored easily but for mckinstry to score and there was a little bit of hesitation by um the Red Sox on the relay play and that just shows how good a play because again I think ref Snider has to make that play um they call it a hit and rafhaela the Short Stop on the relay doesn't come up throwing right away to the plate and that allows mckinstry to score so heads up base running by the Tigers and it proved to be the difference in the game because that's the only offense the Tigers could muster on that swing but again when you've got TK scoel on the mound and you get two runs you're feeling pretty good especially when your horse is going eight Innings and again first time in his career he's gone eight Innings and I've mentioned the 84 team a couple of times the interviews during the game were tremendous what an incredible job by the broadcast crew with Dan Dickerson Andy Dirks and Daniela Bruce their interviews with the 84 team was were fantastic they got great answers from those guys the Lou Whitaker interview Lou Whitaker and Alan traml joining the guys in the booth and then Daniela Bruce doing a great job with some of the interviews um in the suite and it was just a really Collective a fun night to be a Detroit Tigers fan and if you're watching on the YouTube stream or if you're catching this later on you can see I've got my 84 Jersey on right now for the Detroit Tigers the road jersey though with the the uh blue and white and orange around the neck and the sleeves the piping and then the v-neck with the Detroit across the front but if you're listening on one of our audio platforms you can picture it in your head but we've got a lot of comments to get to on a fun Saturday night where the Detroit Tigers knock off the Boston Red Sox two to one to move to 69 and 68 69 wins nice on the season so far for the Red Sox they fall to 70 and 66 and because of where we're at in terms of the standings we got to talk about it with this game now the Tigers and again rubber match tomorrow that's going to be a big one but the Red Sox now lead the tigers by um a um a game and and a half and the Mariners have crept up there with the Tigers two straight losses so tomorrow is a big one the Tigers can get back to just a half game behind the Red Sox if they can take the series tomorrow afternoon so we'll look ahead to that game but I want to get to the comments I've gone on long enough this is a collaborative program that's right everybody's comments are welcomed on the live stream of all the players that um Daniela Bruce was interviewing and you just get a feel for the culture that word was brought up a couple of times you get the feel that this current Tigers team is starting to build that culture and that's certainly something to be excited about they could have easily folded at the deadline when they sold which they we all agree they had to do but credit to I gotta give credit to AJ hinch and to be fair as often as I criticize him I'm always there to give credit credit is due and he has galvanized this team and put forth and they've all put their best foot forth in the month of August leading to what could be a really really exciting September regardless of of what happens I think we've seen the maturation the development the Improvement of so many critical guys for next year and I was talking to Mary time Adam today we're excited for next year for the Detroit Tigers because those pieces are in place and it's a credit to what they've done really in the month of August because I remember doing this show on the trade deadline and I remember the state of this team with Scott Harris addressing the media and say what you will about Scott Harris I've been critical of him we all have been and it seems like it's warranted at times but you just didn't get the feel that uh this was a team you wanted to for lack of better term really sink your teeth in and be a part of and roll up your sleeves and and love every part of the Detroit Tigers but my goodness the way they've played in the month of August has has changed my mind and I'm sure it's changed just about everybody's as well okay let's get to a couple more comments we've got Casey chiming in those wins in Home and Away series versus Seattle really began Tigers going on some good games and standing jocking yeah absolutely because I remember and the Tigers really almost swept the series in Seattle they had the late walk-off game in the finale they lost it in walk-off fashion and then when the Mariners came here they had the one game where they they scored what was at 15 runs I mean offensive explosion swept that series and really just started to play great baseball and then the schedule was it worked its way into a convenient component of against Bad teams with the white socks and the angels there you win six or seven of the games there and winning is contagious it really is and I think we've seen that in the month of August Troy says are so are we gonna make the playoffs or what well good news Troy we've got the standings pulled up the Red Sox are four games back from the Minnesota Twins they're the first team on the outside looking in followed by the Seattle Mariners four and a half back and then your Detroit Tigers five and a half back so right now we're all chasing the Minnesota Twins who are the last wild card team and one game ahead of them are the Kansas City Royals and again three playoff teams right now from the AL Central which at the beginning of the season if you would have said that is crazy Baltimore Orioles right now the uh third wild card team with the Yan leading the East the Guardians leading the Central and the Astros leading the West what a story the West has been I mean the Mariners had that division for the entire season and the Astros got off to that abysmal start but uh hey that's why they say it's a marathon not a Sprint and as for the central just some really good baseball teams I mean uh you look at what the Guardians have done and you know they've hit their rough patch here in August but now to be back in front in the Central division with the Royals trailing them by a couple of games and it'll be interesting way the way the central plays out as um as well because it's just there's a lot of baseball left and as we've seen a lot of things can change rather quickly as well all right let's get to a couple more comments we go to Timothy Edgar do you think there's any chance they will promote job for a final Wild Card push so glad you asked that Timothy because my grandfather and I were talking about that exact same thing yesterday I just I want them to I can't understand why they won't but um and and Mary time Adam and I were talking about that today I just I want them to bring up job so badly but I just don't think it's G to happen knowing this regime but all right we're going to continue taking some
