NINE-DAY FORECAST, SO YOU'LL KNOW FIRST, THIS IS FIRST ALERT WEATHER. FIRST ALERT RADAR IS LIT UP LIKE A CHRISTMAS TREE. IT IS. YOU KNOW, WE HAVE THESE THUNDERSTORMS THAT ARE POPPING UP JUST LIKE WE SAW ON TUESDAY. THEY POP UP PRETTY QUICKLY. THEY RAIN THEMSELVES OUT, BUT AS THEY RAIN THEMSELVES OUT, THAT WIND IT CAN PICK UP. WE'VE SEEN SOME STRONGER WIND REPORTS OUT OF A FEW OF THESE THUNDERSTORMS. SO IF YOU LIVE IN JOHNSON COUNTY, EVEN A FEW REPORTS COMING INTO OUR EMAILS. SO WE ALWAYS APPRECIATE THOSE. IFIF YOU ARE SEEING ANY STRONG WIND OR HAIL IN YOUR AREA, PLEASE LET US KNOW. NEWS@KMBC.COM. NOW CURRENTLY WE ARE SEEING THOSE THUNDERSTORMS THERE MAINLY ON THE KANSAS SIDE OF THE METRO, BUT CERTAINLY WITHIN THE 435 LOOP HERE. SO I'M GOING TO ZOOM IN AND SHOW YOU ONE SPOT THAT IS DEALING WITH A THUNDERSTORM. IT'S NOT SEVERE, BUT WE ARE SEEING SOME HEAVIER RAIN. SO IF YOU'RE GETTING READY TO HEAD OUT THE DOOR IN THIS TIMING REALLY ISN'T GREAT WITH THE EVENING DRIVE HERE. BUT ALONG 635 HEADING DOWN TOWARDS SHAWNEE OVERLAND PARK NEAR FAIRWAY AND LENEXA, HEAVIER RAIN FOR YOU. THIS STORM IS VERY SLOWLY DRIFTING T TOWARDS THE NORTHEAS. ALSO A LITTLE BIT FARTHER TOWARDS THE EAST NEAR LEE'S SUMMIT. WE HAVE ANOTHER DOWNPOUR AS WELL. THERE MIGHT BE SOME SMALL PEA SIZED HAIL IN A FEW OF THESE THUNDERSTORMS, MAINLY THOUGH, JUST COULD CREATE A LITTLE BIT OF AN EXTRA NUISANCE FOR THAT EVENING DRIVE. AND THEN WE'VE GOT MORE SPOTTY THUNDERSTORMS AS YOU GO FARTHER SOUTH, CLOSE TO 69 HIGHWAY. THERE, SOUTH OF PAOLA. ALSO ON THE MISSOURI SIDE NEAR BUTLER. AND LIKE I MENTIONED, THESE ARE SLOWLY DRIFTING TOWARDS THE NORTHEAST. SO IF YOU DO HAVE TO HEAD OUT OVER THE NEXT HOUR TO TWO HOURS, JUST KNOW YOU MIGHT BE DODGING A FEW POP-UP THUNDERSTORMS AND THTHIS WILL CONTINUE MAINLY BETWEEN NOW AND SUNSET. HERE'S 9 P.M. NOTICE THERE WON'T BE MUCH OUT THERE AT THAT POINT. HOWEVER, THE FARTHER NORTH AND WEST THAT YOU GO, HERE COMES OUR NEXT COLD FRONT. SO THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE MOVING THROUGH NORTH CENTRAL KANSAS INTO SOUTHEASTERN NEBRASKA, PUSHING INTO NORTHWESTERN MISSOURI, OUR FAR NORTHWESTERN COMMUNITIES ON THE KANSAS SIDE NEAR HIAWATHA, POSSIBLY NEAR ATCHISON AT MIDNIGHT, THEN APPROACHING THE METRO OVERNIGHT. SO AFTER MIDNIGHT INTO THE EARLY MORNING HOURS ON OUR FRIDAY, THERE'S 7:00 IN THE MORNING. FRIDAY. SO GETTING THE KIDS READY FOR THE BUS STOPS TOMORROW MORNING. THE MORNING COMMUTE THAT COULD BE A LITTLE SLOWER WITH STILL SOME LINGERING SHOWERS IN THE AREA. NOT SEVERE WEATHER, BUT YOU KNOW IT IS GETTING RAIN DURING RUSH HOUR, SO THAT'S WHY TOMORROW IS AN IMPACT DAY FOR THAT SLOWER MORNING GO. LINGERING CLOUDS THROUGH THE AFTERNOON, A NORTH BREEZE AS WELL. SO THAT WILL GIVE US SOME COOLER AIR. BUT BETWEEN NOW AND THEN WE COULD PICK UP BETWEEN A QUARTER TO A HALF INCH OF RAIN AROUND THE METRO. HIGHER AMOUNTS OF FARTHER NORTH AND WEST THAT YOU LIVE. WE DON'T EXPECT FLOODING TO BE AN ISSUE, BUT AGAIN, A FEW POP UP SHOWERS LIKE THE ONE WE'RE SEEING HERE SOUTH OF THE PLAZA. THERE YOU GO. THAT'S A LOOK AT THAT SHOWER POPPING UP THAT WILL HELP COOL US DOWN. THAT COULD SLOW YOU DOWN HERE OVER THE NEXT COUPLE OF HOURS. SO CURRENTLY AT MCI 94 DEGREES, FEELING LIKE 99 SPOTTY THUNDERSTORMS THIS EVENING. RAIN AND STORMS WILL BE MORE LIKELY OVERNIGHT INTO OUR FRIDAY MORNING. AND THEN AS FAR AS YOUR FORECAST FOR TOMORROW, MUCH COOLER. SOME SPOTTY SPRINKLES FOR THE AFTERNOON. TEMPERATURES WILL ONLY TOP OUT IN THOSE UPPER SECONDS ON THAT NINE DAY FORECAST. EXPECT THE TEMPERATURES TO STAY COOLER HEADING THROUGH THE WEEKEND, EVEN INTO EARLY NEXT WEEK. HIGHS WILL ONLY BE NEAR 80 DEGREES IF NOT IN THE MIDDLE 70S FOR LABOR DAY AND FOR TUESDAY. AS FAR AS TOMORROW, PLANNING OUT YOUR FRIDAY, THE HIGHEST CHANCES OF RAIN WILL BE MAINLY IN THE MORNING, SO THAT'S WHERE THAT WEATHER IMPACT IS THROUGH LUNCHTIME. AFTER THAT, DRIER FOR THE AFTERNOON. ONLY IN THE 70S LOOKS
