Georgia vs Clemson (Aflac Kickoff) - CFB25 Sim - Week One

Atlanta and mercedesbenz Stadium sight of this year's Chick-fil-A peach bow and of course part of the college football playoff colliding here today two top 25 teams having tremendous Seasons set to battle it out against one another as we'll see the number one team of the country the Georgia Bulldogs taking on the 17th ranked team the Clemson Tigers for EA Sports college football and Chris fower joined here in the booth by Kurt K Street Kurt let's get to the action on the field [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] dogs will kick this away to start us off and is fielded returner trying to create a big play here he'll be tackled at the 18 that's good coverage there so the Clemson Tigers offense comes on the field first today and there comes the star running back onto the field he is a special talent you talk to opponents he's always the focal point when they face this offense boy Chris this guy is special it's almost like he floats across the field I mean I don't think anyone can take him down in the open Feld he's the guy the teams try to key on but sometimes it feels as though no one can contain him Christino the spread era over the years has always grown offensively but what I've been always impressed with defenses that really build their defense to play in space still have an ability to be sound at the line of scrimmage and defend a running game it's exactly what we saw right there caught quickly brought down to the 28 and it's good enough for a first down [Applause] backs lined up on either side of the quarterback he'll hand it off tackled way behind the line he'll lose six there well they run it right into a blitz and that linebacker was coming downhill K man what a time to call that Blitz here by the defense coordinator and you're right he shoots right through that a gap really the back had nowhere to go by the time he got the ball in his hands the linebacker's right in his face after the first down loss it's second and long from the 22 bites off a Defender they'll stop him behind the line for a loss of one things just appear to be a bit out of sake from the get going on that one give credit to the front seven of that defense for staying in the proper lanes and getting to the ball carrier not let him dance around and make something out of nothing critical third down play for this offense right here looking downfield it's Club Nick quick throw to his receiver he's a wide openen receiver complete they tackle him at the 48 but it's enough for a new first down the defense is spread all over the field creating some one-on-one matchups and a quarterback makes him pay for it the Tigers hustle to the line to crank up the tempo the shotgun handoff here has the first down still on the move they get him down but the game moves the ball to the 37 [Applause] Clemson getting set with a first and 10 coming up going to run it it's mafa that's a nice tackle there by the senior defense does a really nice job here being able to contain that run game held him just for two yards Chris to me this changes the Playbook a little bit now for the offense guy calling the plays at second eight that's a different deal now he's got to probably thinking about going through the air instead of staying on the ground quarterback wants to throw it on second down fires it to the wide out it's caught downfield they bring him down at the five solid gain though in the completion that is great arm strength and accuracy by this quarterback let's not forget the wide receiver's job of bringing it in for that big game and the Tigers looking to punch it in here it's first and goal first and goal handoff goes backwards losing three yards there Chris I think we all kind of get caught up in third down what what's an offense doing on third down but I think what's also important is how well you defend first down if you can hold your opponents to a short gain or a tackle for a loss you throw the offense out of whack and their game plan gets much more challenging to try to come up with that first down he's running out of time here got him for a sack a big play made them one of the senior leaders of this defense it just looked like the quarterback was holding on to the ball a bit too long that time allowed the defense to be able to get the pressure and they come up with the first sack of the game great job for the defense so far it's third and goal from a long way out dropping back it's Club Nick launching one to the end zone and it's caught touchdown Tigers well there's nothing more satisfying for an offensive coordinator than having a quarterback that he can trust in these critical areas here you are third and goal what are you do put the ball in the hands of that quarterback whether he runs it in or throws it you know he's going to make the right decision found the matchup made the throw and you get a touchdown open the [Music] [Music] game they try to add the lead now with the p p is good so it's seven [Applause] nothing getting set to kick the ball off [Applause] now Fields it just outside the goal line be tackled at the 17 strong job by the coverage team so the Georgia Bulldogs offense out there for their first possession and here we go Kirk this match up on the edge it's going to go a long way to deciding this game an elite wide receiver and a guy who doesn't believe anybody can be there this is going to be like a boxing match where it's an allout battle two extremely gifted athletes competing on every snap better get your popcorn ready that one Falls incomplete good defensive play brings up second down offense moving receivers around now before the snap and the sophomore making an impact play but a great play Here by a Clemson Defender makes you think of all these great Clemson Defenders they've had over the years like the fridge or D Bowers Vic Beasley Grady Jarrett of course most recently miles Murphy who got drafted just a few years ago always great defensive lineman allows this defense to be athletic and with players like this it's just a defense you do not want to face well a serious challenge for this offense you don't want to be in third and long inside your own 20 how much of a risk will they take to try to pick up this first down pressure is coming and they put that nickel defense I think that's the right call you get more speed to be able to cover with those five defensive backs and also allows that defensive line with that good coverage to get after the quarterback as we see here the dogs will line up to pun it away and he's able to send the punt away and the returner will be brought down and the powerful Clemson offense is back out there passing game was so effective in the last possession right down for a touchdown we'll see if the defense can make adjustments Breaking Free at the 35 tackle made but the game moves the ball with 30 so you're a defensive coordinator trying to stop this offense your eyes are in the back F worried about that quarterback who's going to run it or throw it you got to worry about the receivers getting downfield and making big plays and now by the way you got a program that has great history at the running back spot guys like think about it Travis etn and CJ Spiller The Backs they have here now on this roster boy just so many different combinations and ways to attack them [Applause] [Music] Clemson now operating in the Red Zone here comes a first down pass attempt grab down the middle it's winding stool but he's hammered by the linebacker what a hit that's what makes this tight end so dangerous you can Flex him out into that slot position he shows his versatility he could be an inline guy that can block but here he shows you what he can do with his hands so here comes second down now every play important down here in the Red Zone they're going to run it here Valia brought down at the four offense in great scor position here was a nice job up front by the offensive line but give the running back and assist for setting those blocks up before he's able to get down field for the first down the Tigers will line up now it's first and goal they'll try to run it in on first and goal fights his way into the end zone touchdown Clemson Runner shows toughness and will refusing to be brought down ends up in the end zone yeah that Defender had no chance bringing down this ball carrier by himself that's why you better have a couple Defenders or else you're going to have more touchdowns like this [Music] [Music] and they get set now to try the p8 and the kick is up and good they tack on a point to their lead we team on the field now as they get set to send this one [Applause] away and here's the return from inside the five gets it to the 25 yd line that's where to start the drive and the powerful Georgia offense is back out on the field last time was a quick three and out and they get a drive going this time on first down it's play action that pass rush has trapped him into sack I mean it's another sack Chris I mean we just getting started here first half you're already talking about giving up three sacks got to think about changing things up schematically help that offensive line and help that poor quarterback before he gets killed tough spot here second and long at the 20 grab behind the line it's skuret and they bring him down that's a very solid gain but still well short of the marker so Clemson has the lead here Kirk as we head to the quarter break and as we reach the end of one the lead is starting to mount let's take a quick look at the first quarter stats before we move on [Music] we'll see if this game gets out of hand before halftime The crucial second quarter beginning right now drops back needing a third down completion here caught over the middle it's loveing the stop is finally made but it's a big game stopped at the 49 and you just continue to see the chemistry between these two and they told us yesterday in our production meeting they spent hours and hours of working and developing that chemistry and that Rhythm by throwing together throughout those summer months and man it's starting to really pay off he's become his security blanket for the quarterback and especially on third down get him the ball the sophore with a strong tackle there you know in the era that we live in right now everybody wants to spread the field around try to create space try to create one-on-one matchups and the defense has countered over the years by trying to play out wide but here's a great example the defense has the ability to play wide but still will be solid at the line of scrimmage and not give up big run plays the offense with some pre- snap motion to throw it's back looking to set up a screen pass here creative running there but finally able to stop him but the defense has roled a bit on that screen play it's a solid gain for a first down just a really good ball here to be able to pick up this first down for the Georgia offense and you know that being able to have a balanced attack so important in modern college football and Georgia does that as well as anybody the Bulldogs look to keep this drive moving it's the wide receiver coming in motion now off the play fake looking to throw on first down the pocket breaking down and the junior able to get home with the sack I can't believe the amount of pressure this defense is getting on this quarterback sack after Sack Boy you've got to think about changing things up the snap count the scheme in anything at all to help this offensive line they're overmatched so far in this game pass protection a serious issue another sack makes it second and long there's the snap quarterback setting up to throw grab down the middle it's Evans they bring him down after a solid gain but it's still well short of the first down marker well as a quarterback you're always trying to obviously find that open window to be able to throw the football into that time that wide open was right in the middle of the field makes it so easy on the quarterback to make that throw and pick up good yards and he'll drop back here on third down and he's looking to make a big play downfield and it's incomplete he let it fly on third down but now it brings up fourth hey the good news is here Chris they're still in field goal range and they didn't cost themselves any points but they could have more got to be thinking about going for this on Fourth and short so on fourth down the decision is to try out the field goal team this will be a 50yd attempt let's see if he's got the leg and he's made it from 50 yds out showing off the deep range boy this guy has such a strong leg no problem up into the net from 50 [Music] [Applause] plus following the field goal the kickoff team is out there now return starts from inside the five'll be tackled at the 17 strong job by the coverage team okay the Clemson offense heads back out onto the field trying to build on a beautiful balanced touchdown trive last time they had it stopped short the marker after just a short gain nice solid run here by this back with a nice job of just kind of finding that lane pick up some positive yards there on First and 10 getting set here's second [Applause] down a pop pass on the Jet Sweep and he's tackled for a loss after he catch the defense all over that one that's one of those plays that works better against certain defensive looks but not every defense is the same they were all over that one let's see if they continue to attack to the outside and the perimeter set something up down field offense been in Reverse here now a long way to go to convert this third down he's got it for a big game that's a big game before he goes out of bounds it'll move the sticks more than enough for a first down well this is why this guy is one of the top wide receivers in college football it's third down the defense knows you're probably going to go to him and they still can't stop him from coming down with a big play hunson getting set with a first and 10 10 now looking downfield it's Club Nick makes a quick grab pickup is five yds so it's second down and five this is an example of a quarterback and his offense just taking what the defense gives you not a huge play but positive yards the defense wants to give that throw to you you take it get the ball to your receiver stay ahead of the sticks here's the second down play run it from the gun tackled behind the line it's a loss of two that was that excellent linebacker with a clear path just run and downhill quickly you know I think one of the great things about watching this guy play all year is his vision he just has great instincts that time the defensive line ate up all the linemen freed up the linebacker to get into the back field and the result is a tackle for a loss for the backer dropping back he going to throw for the first down caught over the middle it's bring stew big gain across Midfield all the way down to the 34 yd line what a pitch and catch by the quarterback and receiver for a big gain for this offense and the Tigers come to the line looking to crank up the [Applause] tempo and look looking to throw now on first down pass complete on a Crosser tackle made after a nice pick up on the play how many first downs is that on this drive this defense allows one or two more drives like this and they're going to be gassed by the third quarter Clemson now operating in the Red Zone on First and 10 here looking to throw the ball caught on the outside it's more heads out of bounds as a short gain on play and a player is down injured after that last play will take a time out where they check him out now the offense has reached the Red Zone and the wi out goes in motion he hands it off from the gun defense able to stop the ball carrier there that was an excellent effort by this defense just staying in the Run f holding their own with the line of scrimmage and then making a tackle offense just couldn't get enough of a push to get any yards at all he breaks the two-minute warning here let's see if this offense can build on this big lead before [Music] halftime and they keep this drive going trying to convert on third down now looking to pass it's Club Nick he's moving out of the pocket the junior quarterback shows his toughness keeps this drive moving these are the type of plays that are back breakers for a defense they thought they had him tied up they thought they were going to be able to get him to the ground on the pass rush but they're unable to do so so he gets away picks up a big first down and now this sets up a first and goal inside the 10 the Tigers will line up here on first down and catch Made In The End Zone touchdown tigers you put five wide receivers into a formation that put so much pressure on the defense do you have enough guys that can cover quarterback does such a good job of finding the weakness and exploiting [Music] it see they can convert the point [Music] after extra point is good and they stretch the lead a little bit more here's the kickoff team Now set to boot this one away fielded In The End Zone it's Bell the returner coughs up the football inside their own 20 and the powerful Crimson offense is back out there let's see if he can keep that passing game going the last position very efficient and precise makes the grab in the end zone touchdown Clemson we had a short field the offense did exactly what they're supposed to do that would have been a big ask for the defense there absolutely but when you're given that kind of field position anything less than a touchdown would be a disappointment they did exactly what they needed to do by capitalizing on that short field [Music] [Music] [Applause] but they'll try to add to the lead now with the Pat and the kick is up and good they tack on a point to their lead now they get set to kick it away and he takes this from inside the five he'll be tackled at the 17 strong job by the coverage team and the Georgia offense is back out on the field this has been a rough first half they'll have to regroup an intermission but in the meantime let's see if they can get some momentum going grab near the sticks it's Lov it tackle made after a solid game B the ball in with 34 that's a big first down for this offense and it's not been a great day so far but maybe this play can get him going and keep this in mind Chris because they started the game with the possession they will not get to start the second half on offense so they need points right here dropping back it's back receiver makes the catch tackle is made but that's good for first down of the 47 timeout is called to tuck strategy late in this poose game with halftime approaching this offense has gotten going at long last it's another first and 10 quick Juke to get free that's an explosive game they've got him but the gain all the way to the 28 well you can tell the quarterback knew exactly what he wanted to do with the football he was going to that in route no matter what he hits it for a nice game Georgia getting set with a first and 10 now and the quarterback dropping back grab down the middle it's love it and he picks up the first down before they get him to the ground that's an excellent throw by the quarterback finding that window between the zones and delivering the ball on time the dogs are in the Red Zone here comes a throw from the Red Zone finds his man it's etn butter scoots out of bounds after gaining decent yards the back catches it on this play to me he almost looks like a wide receiver on the design a little toe tap at the end he's definitely been practicing that technique during practice coming to the line on second down this is they want to avoid a third and long here's the snap offense looking to throw the ball here's a screen pass to the running back and heads out of bounds after a decent gain a lot of times this can be a tough play to defend because you're so concerned with getting pressure on the quarterback but here the defense does a good job of coming off of coverage and chasing down the receiver here we go third down close to the goal line they can still get a first down without scoring motion by the back defense better adjust he's got it near the end zone they stop him just short the defense really backed up now it's first and goal offense topos clock with their second timeout to talk strategy now a chance to cut into this lead before halftime it's first and goal motion now from the tight end play action here on first down looking to the end zone and he's got it touchdown Bulldogs what a call with a play action down inside the 5yd line completely froze the defense their eyes were in the back field locked in on the quarterback they lost focus on where he might be throwing the football made it an easy read for the quarterback in a touchdown extra point try coming nowra point they make the extra point and Trail now [Applause] 2810 so after the touchdown here's the kickoff and we'll see if the opposing offense has time to answer before halftime they'll return it from inside the five he's tackled at the 21 that's the drive will start so the offense looking to be efficient here not much time remaining before the end of the half one man at the back field and he'll get the football that's a solid game moves the ball to the 29 Miller's going to wrap up the first half here let's kick it now to Kevin Connor with our halftime update fellows many thanks happy to provide a break in the the action to kind of pour over exactly what has transpired so far an entertaining first half and we've got a multi-p possession lead to breakdown thanks to the surgical Precision of this offense might honestly take more time to talk about what didn't work than what did the running game the passing game Gadget plays have worked now it's just a matter of finishing the job and on that note time to throw it back to our guys at the stadium and the Tigers will kick this away to begin the second half Fields it inside the 5 yd line tackled at the 22 good job by the coverage team and the Bulldogs offense is back out on the field little eye candy here from the offense in pre- snap motion first play of the drive they look to the right they make the tackle but if not for a solid gain on that pass love the timing here between the quarterback and his receiver pick up some positive yards and I continue to be impressed with just the the chemistry between these two second down play coming up and there's the handoff brought down but it's past the line the game look I realize on any play call when it's properly executed it can go to the house for a touchdown but the runs that really make a game plan work are the ones where you get just what you need and he barely got the first down but he got it white outs now clustered and they'll go right back to him on first down he gains nine so it's second and one great job by the offensive line here opening up some holes and the running back room to run on first down plays like this can open up the playbook for the play caller allow him to make that defense think of they're going to run maybe play action maybe throw the ball down field second down after that run on the previous [Applause] play SS with with throw look like Georgia will have the first down Christ more we watch these spread offenses attack in today's game it's not just about the vertical shots with the taller receivers on the outside defenses are challenged even more by those smaller slot receivers in their quickness in space and the Bulldogs pick up enough yardage for a first down off the play fake looking to throw fires it makes the catch downfield finally brought down but this is a big play wounds the ball down to the 21 man the defense seems to be all about loading up to stop the run they're creating some one-on-one opportunities and the quarterback and receiver make them pay for it with a great [Applause] play George is setting up with a first and 10 now keep it on the ground there's the handoff the senior able to make the stop after a short game see that's how you limit what an offense wants to do this time the defense just won the battle up front at the line of scrimmage not giving up any big plays everybody's Gap sound it's really solid defense on that play Georgia has moved into the Red Zone they'll run it out of the shotgun goes backwards losing three yards there well they keep trying to run the football and they keep getting dominated at the line of scrimmage that has been a theme throughout this entire game we've talked about it earlier in the game it's not changing at all they' become onedimensional and I think it's allowed this defense that really locked in on that quarterback third down this offense could really use a conversion here down multiple scorps fires it to the wide out that one is incomplete the defender was right there and it brings up fourth down now hey it's an incompletion but it's a nice job by the quarterback I know it didn't pan out but the most important thing is he didn't turn the football over and he didn't take a sack it'll give your kicker a chance to put some points on the board if they opt for the field goal here on fourth down so here on fourth down out comes the field goal team this one is right through oh Chris it's a nice kick here to polish off that drive with at least three points up on the board [Music] [Music] so after the field goal the kicker out there again to boot it away he's going to return it from near the goal line solid job by the coverage team they bring him down at the 16 looks like a man is down on the field after the last play so we take a timeout okay the Clemson offense heads back out onto the field from the shotgun here's an inside G tackled behind the line it's a loss of two I don't think the offensive line gave the back much of a chance at all now give credit to the defense it was almost like they were anticipating a run and got up close to the line of scrimmage in a hurry so behind the six second and long from their looking to throw it's Club Nick catch made down the left side an explosive play he out of bounds after a solid gain more than enough to pick up a first down this is why this climpson offense is so tough to defend you get caught up in the running game the threat of the quarterback as a potential run threat you leave yourself one-on-one and then he can make these throws down field to Dynamic Playmakers on the perimeter on first looking a throw receiver looks it in it's complete manto man coverage you run the drag route You' prefer to get the ball down field with the matchup called for at least some positive yards underneath and he makes a nice throw second down play coming up for this offense On The Run it's mafa that run moves the ball across the 40 they bust that for a big play but it makes this third down coming up a little bit more manageable and that certainly has a lot of value offense facing a third and short from the 41 can they make the first down and avoid a tricky fourth down decision can he make it to the marker tackled behind the line it's a loss of two my gosh this offensive Line's got to do a better job of blocking the defense was zeroed in on the ball carrier and absolutely nowhere to go for the offense the Tigers will send the punt team onto the field he'll call for the fair catch here and the powerful Georgia offense is back out on the field difficult to win games kicking field goal to cut into this lead they got to find the end zone moving the receiver around pre snap Quick Pass here comes a Jet Sweep picks up two so it's second and eight man that Jet Sweep action puts so much pressure on a defense you get so locked in on the ball attacking you downhill but when offenses sprinkle this kind of offense in it stretches this defense out wide it can create some vertical scen for big plays second down after that previous play defense with some pre- snap eye candy quarterback pulls the ball it's a keeper the socer able to bring him down quickly now not exactly the outcome this offense was hoping for here on the option they didn't lose any yards which is great I think they're definitely looking for more from that play they come to the line a long way to go for the first down but needing this crucial conversion right now back toow throw it's back and it's complete downfield tackled at the 40 that'll earn a fresh set of downs this is a big conversion by this offense they're down now in this second half probably limited opportunities at this point in the game every chance you get your hands on the ball you need points they keep this drive alive right here Georgia getting set with a first and 10 now tight end goes in motion before the snap the shotgun running play call breaks the tackle now he's got room to run he's brought down but a solid gain moves the ball across Midfield to the 41 boy how about that play Chris that thing just opened up the back shot through there with great acceleration what a pickup there on first down this Georgia offense is moving quickly down the field off the play fake on first down grab behind the line it's zurac the defense drops him for a loss he went backwards there a second down behind the sticks now man the defense was all over that play just left him almost no room to work after catching the ball offense getting set it's second down and the quarterback looking to make a play through the air and he just throws the ball away way there nobody open excellent coverage Chris on this play he has nobody open it's better than taking a sack he doesn't get intentional grounding because where he threw it there was an intended receiver I think there's no harm no foul here third down the offense desperately needs a conversion here trailing in the third quarter receiver in motion now drops back looking to throw for it on third down running back has it on a screen now and a big game before he goes out of bounds the offense keeps churning gets a fresh set of downs really good job here of converting by this offense and let's face it at this point in the game because they have such a big hole to climb out of they've got to be able to convert and come up with a new set of downs they do it here now they got a real shot to cut into this lead hand off from the shotgun and he's brought down short of the line to gain in what should be the last play of this third quarter but how about this defense just so physical against a run these guys have not been able to do anything on the ground and it's because of that defense of line of those linebackers taking away the Run game and now entering the final period of play is there an epic comeback in store we're going to find out fakes the handoff here looking to throw it looking for the wide out and it's intercepted he'll be taken down but after a good return boy would this quarterback love to have this one back they're trying to work themselves back into this game here in the second half and the defense comes up with a big turnover that could be the nail in the coffin and the powerful Clemson offense is back out there they're looking to build on the lead they had the punt the football in their last possession it's a short completion of the tight end defense shs him out of bounds not much of a game there and here the tight end shows off his hands for a nice game love to see the big man get his touches important second down play coming up off play action he's looking throw trying to create outside the pocket now and he will be stuffed for no game well the defense does a great job here of pressuring the quarterback but I got to give the quarterback a lot of credit instead of taking a negative play he shows you his athletic ability and fights out gets all the way back to the line of scrimmage they're backed up here trying to make something happen on Third and long dropping back look going to throw for the first down and the junior gets home making a sack there a really good job by this defense the quarterback looked to be trying to work through his progressions to find his open receiver but before he knew it he's on his [Applause] back and the Tigers will bring their punt team onto the field it's a rough drive for the offense hter comes on then boot it away and the fair catch signal for and taken and the Georgia offense is back out on the field they had it going on the last drive but it ended abruptly with the interception let's see what they can do here out of the shotgun he'll hand it off able to pick up just a couple of yards it's good run defense CH overall it's been a tough day for this offense but especially for this running back just not able to find any kind of traction at all and it's made this offense somewhat onedimensional and a large reason they're trailing in the fourth quarter second down after that run on the previous play scanning the field it's back quarterback delivers complete to the right side he's tackled quickly but the yardage is good enough for the first down what another positive play but man look at the clock and look at the score you still need a couple touchdowns to be able to get yourself back into this game and have a chance to win it so you got to keep moving here and keep taking those shots down field here comes the bunch formation and the single back takes the handoff but a defense coordinator this week all week telling us about Gap Integrity not giving this running back any creases at all really sound defense on that play now it's second down here the pre- snap motion from the offense let's a fly of the wide out looks down field and finds a receiver who worked his way wide open Chris here we are in the fourth quarter these guys are trailing have been a great day but with this quarterback he's as gifted as anybody in the country you never count these guys out the dogs pick up enough yardage to get a fresh set of downs first down looking to throw the ball looking for the tight end and it's caught but a huge Collision blow delivered there by the linebacker and there's the tight end I've been waiting to see him make a play and this defense has done such a good job of eliminating him from being a factor in the game I think it's a big reason that they have a nice lead he finally makes an appearance for his first catch they hand it off to the back looks like Georgia will have the first down hey it's a nice pick up you got the first down on the ground that's a great job but remember it's a two- possession game you got to pick it up a bit this defense will welcome those kind of plays all game long because the clock will keep moving so you got to put that ball in the end zone and try to get the ball back Georg is setting up with a first and 10 now they're moving the receiver now before the snap looking for his big tight endend he pulls it in for a big gain they make the stop but not before a solid gain that time hey it's a nice gain here and they get the first down to stop the clock but late in a game trailing by a couple scores these receivers have got to be thinking about getting out of bounds as often as they can to preserve that clock to give them a real shot to come back to win it looking to throw it's back launching one to the end zone and it's caught touchdown dos well the call was sort of predictable K but that tight end is just so tough to stop down here in the Red Zone listen speaking on behalf of
